Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book four in the McIntire County Series. FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew follows the information about an elusive scam artist whom she has been looking for to Eider, Iowa. Sheriff Shane Hamilton is not very thrilled with an FBI agent in his county. Little did Shane know that this Liza would be the opening he needed in his personal life as well as his professional life.  Love, anger, resentment and a little sass is throughout the story. I could not put this book down!!!!! I literally read it from Sun Up to Sun Down. It had me on my seat the entire time. There are dead bodies, fires, and a some drama from the police department. I promise you that this book is one of the many that you will not be able to put down.

Faking the Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 4) by Libby Kay – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This  the fourth book in this series and it did not disappoint!! I couldn’t put it down and when I had to I couldn’t wait to pick it back up once I got home from work. This story is all about Alice and James. They are both artists but one creates paintings while the other one writes. Alice is wanting to get her parents and the town off her back about her settling down whereas she isn’t really wanting to settle down quite yet. James (the famous painter) moved to Buckeye Falls, Ohio to get away from the hustle and bustle of New York and try to find a new muse to help him with his painters block. From the moment they meet, you just know that there is love there, but do they realize it is really the question. I promise you that this book will make you laugh, cry and be all in your feels as you read all about James and Alice.

Falling Home (Buckeye Falls Book 1) by Libby Kay – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book in this series!  This story is about Max Sanchez and his ex-wife Ginny. So make sure that you read this one first, otherwise you will be a little confused like I was. I absolutely loved this book!!!! Max is a chef who met Ginny while in school. He moved back to Buckeye Falls, Ohio once his parents decided to retire and move to Florida. Ginny is a marketing genius for a company in New York (which is where she moved to, she fled Buckeye Falls and Max). The question is now, do they still love each other and it is really worth the risk with a possible heartbreak again? I had wondered this through out the story. It seemed like they… I really don’t want to spoil the book. Please remember to read this one first and then book 2.

Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan Book 3) by T. Christensen – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book that I have read from this author. I can tell you that I cried during part of it because it was just so overwhelming and heartbreaking. Lindy Garcia, an inspiring clothing designer lands a job as a PA (Personal Assistant) to Cade Kingsley ( the owner of Kingsley Marketing). Little does she know that this job could have a lasting impact on her and her future. Just watch out for some of the conversations that they have because they are not your typical business conversations that you would have your boss, especially if you really need the job. Does Lindy have a job at the end of the book? The answer to this question is simple but I really don’t want to spoil the book for you. I promise its one you will not want to put down until you are finished reading it. Even after you finish reading it, you will want to read it again. I will warn you again about the emotional toll that Lindy and Cade go through personally. There are moments that you may want to hurt one more than the other but just remember that this a just a book and not reality.

Devil’s Claw (Logan McKenna Series Book 3) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is Book 3 in the Logan McKenna Series. There are nine books totally, I plan on reading every single one of them at some point. In this one, we learn about sea otters and greed from a new person. Unfortunately for someone, they lose their life because of this greed. I am still currently reading it so I can’t give to much away. It does involve money and land, specifically the Sea Otter Rescue Land. I haven’t read many of Ms. Davisson’s books but this one seems to grab my attention especially because of the sea otters. I mean I never knew that sea otters made noise, I mean how would you know that unless you have seen/heard them up-close and personal.

Vixen: (Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter) by D.M. Earl – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

OMG Vixen had me in tears throughout the entire book. I loved that the author mentions herself in the book. So many things happened towards the middle and ending of the story. However there were lots of things that started from the first book and was carried over into each character’s book. I love that each character gets a chance to tell their story and yet still be apart of something so amazing as the Devil’s Handmaidens MC or Grimm Wolves. I wish I had someone like these ladies have each other. There is a lot of scary things throughout each book, while there is romance there is a lot demons and dangerous things that happen and if you aren’t willing to keep reading past those dangerous moments, this series is definitely not for you.  I personally have felt a connection with each character as I have read their story. It’s all too real for some of the reading and I had to stop and take a deep breath before I continued reading. I can not wait to read another book from D.M.Earl.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

So this is book 6 in the series:  Aspen and Phoenix continue with some added drama because of the accident. Especially since Phoenix doesn’t remember anything including Aspen and the fact that she is pregnant. Now there is more issues then before because his recovery from the accident takes precedent over everything. Can they survive this traumatic experience and move forward? Read to find out but make sure you read the first two books first. I will let you know that the ending really threw me but I can’t wait to continue reading the series to find out what happens next.

The Mother’s Threat by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I have read a few of Susan’s books, I feel like this one really didn’t keep my attention as well as the others, however it is a good book. Violet opens a security business after leaving the army however she is still trying to make a name for herself. Her and her team run into an issue with a upcoming job when it comes to protecting the client. Her mom is one of those who like to be a part of something and she can’t help but wonder if her mom is part of this crisis that’s coming. Knowing what her mom has done in the past and trying to keep her client safe, she lets the police and the mayor know what is up, however the they both dismiss her….I know you want more so go read the book!

Heart’s Rescue (Fallen Hearts) by Meredith Hart – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I chose this book because I thought the cover was pretty. I realized it wasn’t my type of book, but that didn’t stop me from reading it. I felt like it started off slow so I had a hard time staying focused on the story line. It has an enemies to lovers theme, there is action, danger and drama. I really thought I would like this book. Maybe I just need to give another read through and hopefully find her other books as well to read. There is a twist in this book but I really don’t want to give it away, so I won’t go into much detail about that. If you are anything like me when it comes to picking out books, try this one. Let me know what you think.

Killer Smile by Allan Evans – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is an amazing book!!! It took me a little bit to get into I will admit. I couldn’t put it down after I got into it. In fact, I hated to put it down.  Cade Dawkins is a State Patrol Investigator for Minnesota. He doesn’t resemble a cop but boy does he know how to be one. He is giving an opportunity to run a task force but really its just him at least a for a little bit. It becomes evident that there are some serial killers lurking around and its up to him and his team to find them and put them where they belong. There are twists throughout the book and I for one was very shocked about the ending. I never imagined it would end how it did. I feel like I need to mention that there is another book before this book “Killer Blonde”. I have a feeling that I should have read that one first but I definitely will read it now.

This book is a three book series called Hidden Valley Elite Series!!  You must read them in order!!!! I absolutely loved this series, I am still waiting for the third book but I have read the first two. Phoenix meets an amazing artist name Aspen and have a wild night together. They didn’t think that they would run into each other after that night. Cruel Hate (Hidden Valley Elite Book 5) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

It’s a continuation from Cruel Start, I promise you that it is worth it. This series is mind blowing and keeps you on the edge of your seat as you are reading it. I laughed, I cried and most of all I connected with Aspen and Phoenix. You get a little more information on Aspen’s family in this one. While trying to continue school and getting ready to a have a baby seems daunting enough, add a mix of his family drama and her family drama and you have a good visual of what is yet to come. I have not read the last book yet, however I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Deadly Vengeance (The Vaccaro Empire Collection Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is a two book series “The Vaccaro Empire Collection”. I have only read the second book so I definitely need to read the first one. Luca is the son of man whose family was murdered by the Vaccaro family. Luca didn’t know this until he came to Sicily and now he is wanting to reclaim what belongs to him, this possibly includes the oldest Vaccaro daughter, Valenzia who feels like she is an ordinary person. She meets Luca whom she finds charming and seductive but she learns to late why he is really in her life. Do they connect and is it enough to bring peace to both families? You need to read to find out!!!

Couldn’t put it down!!!!! Summer and Teddy had me laughing, crying, and overall just really happy. I definitely can relate to Summer, as I have not picked the best guys for relationships. Can you imagine finding “your person” at such a young age? Summer and Teddy have know each other since they were kids, but too stubborn they both go off on adventures away from BlueStone, Montana. They came back but for different reasons. If you would like to know what happens, read the story. I will tell you that I couldn’t stop reading it. I hated when I had to put it down for work reasons.

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring Series Book 1) by K.L. Small – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I absolutely loved this book that I could not put it down. It reminds me of stories my grandma told me while I grew up. Russ is a bullied fifth grader who is struggling to find himself, you know like most fifth graders. He is constantly thinks that he is a failure but his grandpa reminds him that he isn’t. It’s amazing story that I like to read over and over again. Russ’s grandfathers’ love for the Carousel finds a place in Russ’ heart as well. If you get a chance to read this story, please read it. It really found a way into my heart and I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

When I first started this book, I had no idea what I was getting into, however it definitely turned into one of my favorites. I can’t wait to read more from Tam DeRudder Jackson!!!! I want to read the whole Balefire series now. This story leads down some weary roads but it might end somewhere along the best road of living and knowing where Blu’s life might end up. There are some moments in this story that make it seem more real then anything. I love how Tam’s books always makes me feel connected to them.

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

It took some time for me to into the story line, to be honest. I felt very lost which is weird because it’s a murder mystery and it shouldn’t be making me feel that way. While I enjoyed characters like Commissionari Scalia, Esposito, and Milani, I think there needs to be new detectives maybe. Don’t get me wrong, the current line up is good I think we could have more, maybe more forensics as well. Overall, the book was good read but left me hanging.

Cruel King by K.M. Scott – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book I’ve read from K.M. Scott. I couldn’t put it down to be honest with you!!! Ava Sutton grew up with the five King boys, Matthias, Theo, Marius, Kellen and Ronan. Theo was her best friend and for some reason Matthias was her enemy, or at least that is how she was made to feel about him. Locked away in the King’s home because of a snow storm, does she find out why Matthias doesn’t like her or does something else happen? There are some serious sad parts to this story that bring all the characters together at times, but I truly believe that this story about two people whose love for each other is tainted by their parents

Rise of the Hunter (Blood Prophecy Series) by Barb Jones – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the fourth book in the Blood Prophecy series and it is the first book of the new trilogy for the Tall Dark Man. While I love a good book, I will be honest with y’all. I had a hard time following along, from the different perspectives to the action packed parts of the story. This is the only book from Blood Prophecy that I have read, so maybe I need to read the other three books first. There is always going to be a good vs evil fight but I really see that in this book.

The Misery House (The House on the Hill Book 1) by David Kummer – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I am still reading this thriller. It doesn’t keep my attention as I was hoping it would, however it is still a good book. It makes me wonder about the haunted house near me. While I do like the book, I feel like there is something missing that makes it more intriguing to readers. Although, the character’s names are very interesting. You don’t really come across a first name of Smith but to each its own. I find it odd that only the family that the sheriff has his eyes on is the new family in town. I will have to do an update once I finish the entire book.

MG!!!! This book had me in tears for a majority of the book. I couldn’t put this book down, I had to at times but I really didn’t want to. D.M. Earl has really got a knack for these books and connecting each character with its own story. You don’t have to read the series in order but I think if you don’t, you won’t understand how each character got where they are and why they are meant to be there. This is the 5th  book that I have read. With each book, I realize that I want to read all of them. Now each book, belongs to a series, so there is a lot to read. However, I know that I will each story just as mulch as the previous one. I honestly feel like if you haven’t read them, you NEED TO!!!!!

Twisted Eros (Modern Mythica Book 1) by Aria Skylar – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I literally couldn’t put this book down. I absolutely loved it. From the Characters, to fantasy of being taken and given into your desires. I felt drawn to Kay because we share similar issues… Working so much and not giving yourself a vacation or just some down time. It can hurt you more than anything. Erik (Eros) reminds of someone that I can’t have. He is everything to me until he isn’t but even then he is so much more then I could have ever imagined. I can’t wait to read another book by Aria. I use to think that I would never like books like this but I do. Grant it, its’ nothing like my mom’s romance, fantasy books which is something I would never read.

Secrets of the Sorcery War (Ruarnon Trilogy Book 2) by Elise Carlson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book in the Ruarnon Trilogy. I can honestly say that I feel completely different from this book then the first one. I am struggling to stay focused and am now realizing that maybe not all fantasy books are my thing. While I do like her style of writing, I’m just not sure if I can follow along with the story line this time. This time I don’t feel like I’m in two worlds but rather a world that I just don’t understand.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Chandler is an aerialist who is looking for the perfect student to mentor. Little did he realize that Cassandra was also looking for the perfect teacher. The lines get crossed in this story, they fall in love with one another. I didn’t really know what to think when I first started reading this story. This is the first book in this series of The Ties that Bind. I am not normally into romantic storylines. I feel like there too cheesy. However this story is nothing like that at least in my opinion. You can either read the book or listen to it. I normally read books but I am wondering if I would like the audio version as well. It’s your turn to try it now. Let me know if you prefer reading or listening.

Cabin Eight (The Millersville Series Book 3) by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book that I have read that Susan has written. I absolutely loved this book. It was intense and yet relaxing at the same time. I felt connected with Miranda Diggs ( main character) when it comes to feeling guilty about certain things in life. There is something about the cabin that just reminds me of camping but yet being comfortable. So many things happen throughout the story, except Miranda. She remains stuck in her own head for most of the story. I know that I get that way sometimes and the only way to get out that mindset is to make a change. You know, get out of your comfort zone. Miranda is forced to do that in this book. I think that a lot of people should be forced out of the comfort zone, myself included. I think that everyone should read this book, I feel that it pulls you in to really understand the characters and what they are going through.

The Vassal of Magic (The Virus of Beauty Book 3) by C.B. Lyall – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the final book of this trilogy. The world of magic is still in danger and the only one that can save it is Wilf. We continue to follow Wilf through this series to find out if he is able to be a normal teenager instead of being a wizard. His sister Myra and his girlfriend, Katrina are also still a part of his journey. Will they be able to overcome the tough battles ahead and save the Magic Realm? If you chose to read this series, I do recommend starting with the first book: The Virus of Beauty and continuing the series. This way you are following Wilf’s journey all the way through.

Esprit de Corpse by Ef Deal – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book from Ef  that I have read. I will say it took me a day to really get into it. It’s full of mystery and intrigue as well as some action and powerful characters (in my opinion). I feel like Angelique and Jacquelyn are going find out things about their past that they maybe they didn’t need to know. It really is an interesting book, using railways as a way to transport the sisters at times. The supernatural essence is really popping in this story. I love it!!! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Yeti Left Home by Aaron Rosenberg – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is an amazing story about someone who doesn’t quite fit in anywhere. I feel like Wylie Kang sometimes. It’s really amazing how Aaron takes a character like Wylie and makes others realize that there is more that goes on around you that you aren’t really seeing. I can totally relate to Wylie when it comes to not knowing about other supernaturals and how they can only be seen by other supernaturals. I feel like I can only see certain things and no one else can. I am sure that if you read this book, you too will feel a connection to at least one of the characters. Wylie the Yeti and a few of his supernatural friends have me all up in my feelings.

Rogue (The Talisman Series) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book is about Baz Cormac, a rogue who wasn’t wanting to be a rogue but was rather forced into by Goddess Morrigan.  I absolutely love this series. It’s full of action and romance which I truly didn’t think I would like (the romance of it). There are multiple POVs throughout the series and each book has at least two main characters. Baz and Delaney are the two main characters in this book, I really feel connected to the two of them as they tell their story. Delaney is a warrior-talisman hybrid who is looking for her warrior sort of. Is Baz and Delaney meant to be, you need to read this book to find out?
