The Waydowns (The Cool Thing Sci-Fi Series) by Robert Rife – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I really had a hard time getting into the story. I will tell you that some of the  characters names are weird. Like Shank, Dr. Goust, El-vis, Shadow, Seevee. I think the main character’s name is Tonya, who wants to be basically in charge of Deck 19. However, there are other creatures that could be standing in her way so she has to figure out how to get there. Along the way she encounters the others and together they might be able to take control of the ship.

Whisper (The Entian Curse) by Kay Ross – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time that I read from this author. I hard a time getting into the book at first, as I got further into the book it. It felt like Whisper is a good thing but created for all the wrong reasons. The idea of giving someone control over myself seems like weird but that is apparently how a curse works. I am still trying to figure out what happens to the King.  Can a curse really save a nation? I know that it can destroy one but save it, that’s a bit of a stretch or so it seems.

Mr. Lucky (Trentbridge Crime Series Book 1) by Lee Wood – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I absolutely loved this book. The main character James Sheldon, was once a police detective whose life was destroyed when his family was taken away from him through a hit-and-run. He doesn’t really care what happens to him after losing them, so it doesn’t shock him when he loses his home. Now living on the streets, he has run ins with a lot of different people. Some just want to hurt him while he is already down and others try their best to help him. One of those people who tries to cause him pain continues to try to bring him down after winning the biggest lottery ever. Can he see through this person’s selfishness or does he spiral down a rabbit hole? You need to read this book to find out, I promise that you will find yourself wanting more by the end of the story. This is one of seven books, so I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Midnight Falls by John Evans – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book had me from the moment I started reading it. I normally read books rather quickly when they have me like this one did. However, I felt that I needed to take my time with this one. Have you ever thought about the monsters that hide under your bed or in your closet and what you would do if they were to come out and try to get you? If so, this book is definitely for you. I will let you know that this is nothing like anything I have ever read or at least this year anyways. The beginning is very similar to Cujo by Stephen King. It’s spooky and yet feels like you are there with the characters during their moments of concern and whether or not they will get out alive. You will need to read the whole story to find out what happens because that is how this works. I will tell you that you will feel hurt with the characters as they deal with their possible doom.

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

So there is this ring and seems to control who lives and who doesn’t. Sadly, Kenia and Mikael are the two who life hangs in the balance. Kenia is the hunter while Mikael is the demon angel at least according to their families. The thing is that Mikael doesn’t seem to care about himself anymore and just wants Kenia to do what the ring wants him to do, despite having feelings for Kenia. There is no denying that there is some else going on between the two. Can their feelings for each other outweigh the strength of the ring or will the ring win? You will need to read it to find out the answer.

Hooked: The Merciless Few (The Merciless Few Series) by S Courtney – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book of the series. This is Fiend’s (Jett) story. Fiend was a troubled teen when he ran away from home because he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. He met Lucifer (the Leader of Merciless Few MC) and his ol’ lady Sam, they took him in and he worked hard to become part of the brotherhood. Fiend is like a lot of the brotherhood when it comes to having an ol’ lady (they don’t want to settle down). You also meet Poppy, she is a bunny but she wants to be an ol’ lady. This a sad story of Jett’s childhood and his actual family. You will learn things from Jett’s and Poppy’s past that will have you in tears. There were moments where I didn’t want to continue reading because my heart hurt so much for both of them. This is one of those books that you will connect with no matter what, keep reading so that you can find peace yourself.

Wrecked: The Merciless Few (The Merciless Few Series) by S Courtney – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

First book that I have read from this author. I absolutely loved every bit of it. I felt so sad for Avi and Raven throughout the story. Avi comes to America for a better life for her and her daughter, Raven. She has a brother named Frankie who came to America first and said he would send for her. Unfortunately, he didn’t send for her and then things that got bad for her and her daughter when a “boy” decided to put his hands on Raven. She fled to the US on a ship, she was brought to the area that her “brother” worked/ owned. Coming here she thought she would be safe from danger, it turns out she wasn’t. In fact, I feel like she was in more danger. I couldn’t wait to finish this book and I know you won’t either. I can’t wait to read the next one either. I am hoping that there is a series with this MC group so that I can learn more about the club and the band of brothers along with their ol’ ladies and club bunnies of course.

Back in the Ring (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the fourth book in the series. I really absolutely love this series. There is a lot of sadness at the start and part because of some losses that the characters have. Bijou is a manager/owner of a REC center that is falling apart. Normal wear and tear of the building, her daughter Claire (like most preteens) wants a cell phone. However, Bijou can’t really afford to get her one. So she suggests looking for a job to help pay for one. In the process of doing so, Bijou gets a phone call from Noah (a former boxer) who lost his wife in a horrible accident and is now raising his son Holder by himself. He left the world that he and his wife had to get away from all the speculations of his life. Can he find a new life with Holder in this small town? Read to find out, because I am not going to tell you.

The Veil (The Veil Realms Series Book One) by Karli Rush – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time reading this author so I am excited to find out more about this storyline. So in this story, Selene has been focused on walking down the aisle with her finance, Rayden. Unfortunately, the days here on Earth have been shortened by the unknown life from another planet. They have come to take over the little town. There are dangers around every turn and no one really knows what will happen next. Read to find out what happens to the town, the people and Selene and Rayden as they try to figure out where they go from this once happy, serene place and now its very scary and vicious city.

Glass Houses by Sinister Styx – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is a very short story. To be honest, I really thought that it was going to be a drawn out story that ends with broken glass. It was a good book anyways. It’s the first time I read anything by this author. Do you believe in seeking revenge or do you believe Karma will get those who dare to cross it? I am more about karma because seeking revenge is somewhat dangerous because you never what might happen along the way. This book is really fast paced, I literally read it in a few moments.

Wildfire Knockout (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book was really all about Beth (K.C.’s best friend) and how she got where she is today. There is a continued love/hate relationship between her and Scott (Chamberlain’s best friend). There are really sad parts throughout the story and I feel for Beth and everything that she has gone through since she was abandoned by her mom. I wouldn’t even now how to feel if that had happened to me. Can you relate to her? Scott is a ladies man and never that a relationship could ever happen but there is just something about Beth that he can’t quite get and he realizes that he wants the same thing as Chamberlain has. Can they find love within each other or are these two destined to be alone for the rest of their lives? You need to read the series in order to really get the answer.

The Predator Part Two (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Seriously loved this series, I can’t wait to continue into book 3. I will tell you that my heart goes out to K.C. throughout this storyline. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be treated like I didn’t really belong especially in a world that really relies on family values and yet to be hidden because I fell in love with “the wrong person”. There are moments in the story that I get rather angry with because K.C. works so hard to keep her “family” away from her daughter and yet somehow they weasel their way into her life yet without caring about how she feels. I promise you that this series is amazing and you don’t want to skip it.

The Monkey Island Murder: A Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery (Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery Series) by Rosalind Barden – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is Book 3 of the series. I will tell you that this book kept my attention. I literally read it in a day and half. Sparky is at again, this time she was part of the murder but I don’t think she was suppose to be. The characters in this book are a little kooky. Tootsie is up for an audition and that means all the “important helpers are there”. However you need to read in between the lines to find some people and there reasoning for being there, at least in my opinion. I honestly can’t wait for the next book. Sparky is an amazing kid and isn’t so sure of herself. She tends to get into a lot of trouble with any and everything she does. She has two wonderful adults “looking” after her. She has a few friends, lets be real, her only friend is Bobby. But there is a new comer, Cornelius and he might just give Bobby a run for his money when it comes to Sparky.

The Predator Part One (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book took me by my heart and kept pulling at it from start to finish. Brooke May has grabbed my attention with Chamberlain “Predator” Lawrence (who is determined to make it as a fighter) and Katherine Carrie “K.C.” who is wanting to become a teacher. She meets Chamberlain in a local rec center where she taught little girls how to dance. They fell for each other but they live different lives. K.C. is the daughter of a Senator. Where as Chamberlain grew up without his parents and is raised by a friend’s parents. Can they make it work or does something or someone stop them? This is a big question and I hope that when you read it you will find the answer. I know that I couldn’t put this book down and I am now reading book 2 of this series. I am just as hooked to find out what happens between K.C. and Chamberlain.

In the Midst of Omens (The Legacy of Gilgamesh Series) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time I have read anything from this author. I really like the cover of the book, however I did have a hard time getting into the story itself. This is definitely a fantasy book with some romance. I honestly just really wasn’t into it at all. I think the only part that I liked really was when I first started reading it and it mentioned that Enkidu was to be raised by wolves and so I was getting into it but then I started reading about King Gilgamesh and how he wanted to be remembered. I feel like I need to restart the book and try to go to the end of the book. Hopefully, I can edit this review later with a completed reread of the book.

Murder by Moonlight (Felines of Fairytale Forest) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book that I have read from this author. I wasn’t sure if I would like this book or not, however the further I got in the book, the more I really enjoyed it. Cat (short for Catherine) is a custodial employee for a theme park. She, Zoe, Gloria, and Jayden all help the police find the murderer. At first she is being accused of the murder because of an incident that happened prior to the murder. However she does some investigating of her own with the help of the Felines that live at the park, the head of one of the clowders is Zoe. Do you know that animals can communicate with you? I definitely didn’t think that they could especially cats but apparently they can.

The Silent Forest (The House on the Hill Book 2) by David Kummer – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book two of this series. Just like book one, this one has kept me on my toes the entire time.  There is always something spooky about a house in the Forrest and this one isn’t any different. The characters were also creepy to me, especially Rhys and Malaki. The book got creeper the further I got into it.  I never thought a building could be creepy but its like everything else in this story, even buildings get creepy. I can’t wait to read book 3 and see what S.H has in store for Kaia Woods. I am definitely going to be rereading both books before I read book 3 when it comes out.

I swear Isobel’s books just keep getting better and better. I literally read this book in a day and a half. Libby, a new resident of Woodvalley Pines meets Zach (a hunky firefighter) because her toaster caught fire and he of course had to be the one that came and rescued her. There are a few sad moments as well as some funny moments and lets not forget the steamy moments either. I promise that you will love this book and want to know what happens next. I for one can’t wait to read the next book, I hope that it comes out soon.

OMG!! So this is the first book I have read from Manda, it will not be my last one. I’m hoping to read more from her soon. Chaz and Helo’s story is heart retching and yet so familiar. Not really wanting to settle down, Chaz is thrown off by his emotional connection to Helo. Helo is former pilot for the military and is now trying to stay alive while trying to escape from someone who is trying to hurt her. Does Helo find a way to keep herself safe or does she put herself into more harms way by falling for the Prez of an MC Club? You have to read to find out!!!

The Book of Fears: A Collection of Short Stories by K. S. Gantt – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book that I have read from this author and she did not disappoint. There are triggering things within this book so readers be aware. It contains stories of people who have phobias and I have learned the words of the ones that I can relate to.Ophidiophobia is the fears of snakes and Trypanophobia which is a fear of needles, which are just two of the fears, I promise that you will love/hate this book because you understand the feeling that you get from this book. I will say that I felt that a lot of the stories could have continued. Overall this book is amazing and it keeps you on your toes.

Under Jackson Bridge by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book that I have read from this author. I can’t put it down, I am having some issues with Jack (the ex-husband of Irena). You see this man owes money for child support and has a lot of debt. Instead of watching how he spends his money he wastes it buying shoes. High price shoes that is. Anyways, Irena, Jack, Kelly (their daughter), Buzz and Craig on decide to go out on a boat ride. Everyone knows that they need to wear a life jacket but Jack refuses to. There is a big wave coming and it knocks Jack and Irena out of the boat in the cold water. Irena was pulled back into the boat because she was wearing the life jacket however Jack wasn’t as lucky. There is so much more to this then what meets the eye.

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book one of two. It starts off with an assassination of Michaela Manning’s grandfather and a poor 3 year-old Michaela wounded from it. She survived but her life was never the same after that fateful day. Maxwell Cole a former special forces operative was assigned to security on the day that Michaela got shot, in fact he was the one who carried her to waiting medical helicopter. Michaela had to go in to hiding after so she changed her name to Lea Milan. She moved to Paris to make a name for herself. However things have taken a dangerous turn with her father wanting to become POTUS (President of the United States). She is hoping that her new identity will keep her hidden but somehow her secret is revealed but by whom. No one knows but Max will find out who this person is and hopefully stop them from hurting Lea again.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 1) by Byrd Nash – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book #1 of the series “Madame Chalamet”. There is 4 books to this series and I have read 3 of them. This first book really sets the scene for the series.  I do recommend reading this series in order. I am really happy how this one takes me on an adventure during a time that people believed in ghosts and that they are wondering around with us on another plane. While I felt a close connection with the characters in this particular story (mostly the ones who have lost someone) I really wish that I could relate more to Madame Chalamet. If you like the idea of ghost wondering around with you and interacting with you somehow, I feel that this book is definitely for you.

The Boss of Centocelle (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book #6 of the Scala Series. It’s one of the best ones so far that I have read. If you love murder mysteries this is the book for you. You see Commissario Scala is hunting down a killer of two cousins who were dealing illegal things all while trying to spend quality time with his family. There are a lot of characters in this particular book but I feel like it made you really think what each character was up to and how they all tied together. Can Scala find the murder and still be able to spend quality time with his family? I think you should read it to find out, because I am definitely not giving any hints to that question. Of course, I will tell you that you won’t be able to put it down just like any of the other books that P.J has written, at least I couldn’t.

Breaking Apart (Finnerty and Liccione Mystery Series) by Wanda Venters, MD and Mary Rae, MD – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book of the Finnerty and Liccione Mystery Series. However it is the first one I have read. There are parts of the story that I’m confused with because I haven’t  read the first book. Overall the book was amazing. There is some trigging moments especially for those who have harmed themselves in the past. I do not recommend reading this book if you have ever felt that way. It was very eye opening for me how others view the world when they are in a vulnerable place. While it a fiction book the knowledge is real. I did enjoy reading the story and I’m glad that figured out the incident and helped someone who was struggling with a loss.

Touched: Elemental Passions Book One by Skye Turner, Sloane Nicole, April D. Berry, C.J. Pinard, Danielle Jamie, Darlene Tallman, Julie Morgan, Livell James, Machelle Hanleigh, and Melissa MacKinnon – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This was an amazing book! Callus LeBlanc is an amazing detective who meets Aeris. Aeris is a Fae from the mystical realm of Laric.  Faes and humans are not supposed to interact with each other which is why Fae’s tend to cloak themselves. Little does anyone realize that these two are meant to be together. Can they weather the storm that lies ahead and be able to be together? Follow along with me as we journey into the magical realm of Laric and watch as Callum and Aeris’ journey has just begun. There is so much going on in this story but I really can’t wait until book 2 comes out.

Before I Let You Go by Kellie Wallace – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is a the first time I have read anything by this author. I have to say that she knows how to capture an audience. Elsabeth inherits an island from her estranged aunt Lorraine. She isn ‘t sure if she should go because her father is very ill and could pass away at any moment. Her father insist  that she goes and live her life. So she packs up her belongings and moved to this island in Guernery. She hoped to leave the drama of her life back in Texas. Do you believe in angels? This story might push you into thinking that they do exist. Especially when you stop and think about all the things that could have happened to you but didn’t. I promise that you will love this story just as much as I do.

Give Us Bad Boys & Billionaires by L.M. Mountford – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time reading from this author. I initially enjoyed reading these types of books, there is just something different about this one.  I honestly didn’t really read the synopsis because the cover just grabbed my attention. Each story keeps me wanting to read more. I really get into them just to move on to another short story. I really wish that they weren’t short stories at all. There is so much missing because there is no real ending. I am left wanting more from each. They each bring something different to the table, bed, couch really where ever you are reading it at. I have no favorite because they get and keep my attention and my make so many pictures dance in my head.

Hood of Sedna (Stevie Capot Chronicles) by Mina Skye – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first time I have read a book by Mina Skye. I really had a hard time with getting into the story to be honest, which is why it took me a week to read. It’s the first of the  Stevie Capot Chronicles. It’s about a women who lost any possessions and her memory once she woke up in North Carolina. She created a version of herself by naming herself Stevie Capot. She keeps moving around because she doesn’t want to “humans” to know that she can’t age. She winds up in Sedna, Washington where three mysterious men claim to know her as Princess Stephanie Corin. Can there arrival really help her find out who and what she is? You need to read the book yourself to find this out.

Make Me Burn (North Fork Series) by Alicia Street – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

I couldn’t put this book down. Alicia did it again!! The characters that kept me going were Logan Bennett and of course Jinx D’Alessio. He was her brother’s best friend and her fantasy lover. Can they ever find a way to be together or are they destined to loved each other from afar? You must read the story to find that answer as I did. I felt the betrayal that happened between Logan and Jinx throughout the story, I also felt the love that they have had since they were teens. I felt a odd connection with Jinx because of her story about finding love at a young age and yet realizing that no one even notices except Logan. Logan has a harder time with everything because of something that might have happened between him and Vic (who is Jinx’s brother). I really think that you should read the North Fork Series Book 9.
