The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne (The Crown of Stones Book 3) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the third and final tale in the saga of Ian Troy. Ian is burdened with magic and responsibility, both of which are difficult for him to bear. With his loyal band of friends in perpetual danger by association, Ian feels, now more than ever, a drive to distance himself and find a way to rid himself of the dangerous Crown of Stones, no matter the cost. This is a hard book to get into unless you’ve read the first two books, and unfortunately I haven’t read them. So I struggled to stay in a zone of reading with this book. I think I need to read the first two in order to really understand Ian Troy better.

A Stranger in Disguise (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book 4 in the Italian Murder Mystery series.  This book was inspired by a real case that happened in Italy. It’s the first book by P.J. Mann that I have read, so I will be reading the full series soon. I was intrigued by the title of this book and that its similar to an actual murder that happened. While I like the start of the story, I felt rather bounced around towards the middle of the story. I feel like there are too many characters and not enough mystery/action happening. I might just give it another go and try to reread it later. The characters themselves were intriguing to me, their names sound like foreign and yet similar at the same time.

Frozen By Lies (Sleigh Riders Book 1) by Martha Sweeney – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the first book in the Sleigh Rider Series!! I absolutely loved this book. It took me one day to read it, it is that good. Noelle Frost and Nicklaus Klaus come from two different clans who’ve apparently had a feud many years ago, yet no one knows what the feud was about. Can Noelle and Nickolas stop this feud together? You need to read it to find out!!!!  This is a journey that not everyone can ride in however I promise it is worth reading. I can’t wait to read book two and see what journey lies ahead in that one.

Spirit Guide (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 3) by Byrd Nash – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the third book in this series, Elinor and Tristan the  Duke of de Archambeau band together to discover who is behind a lady’s disappearance. There is a third person added to this duo, her name is Twyla (she is Elinor’s newly appointed apprentice). The three of them are off to find the Baron’s missing daughter and find others as well. Elinor and Tristan’s relationship is started to go somewhere maybe?? Elinor is also still trying to find her father’s killer in this book. I really wish I had read book 1 because I feel like I am missing a big part of Elinor’s story. With that being said, I plan on reading book 1 soon.

Shadow (Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter Book 2) by D.M. Earl – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Shadow (Devil's Handmaidens MC-Book Two)Shadow by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zoey “ Shadow” Jeffries is the main character in this dramatic series. She is the enforcer for an all-female MC. This is book 2 of 5. I will tell you that this book had my attention from the beginning. Zoey, “Shadow” was sold into slavery as a child. She is determined to not let it happen to any other girls. So she and her bestie (Goldilocks) create an all females MC to help bring those who intentionally cause harm to little girls. She meets a Navajo horse rancher who determined to help protect trafficked victims just like their group Devil’s Handmaidens MC. There is so much more to Shadow that meets the eye. You will realize that as you read her story and you may feel a connection to her while learning more about her, I know that I did. It’s romantic, drama, tragic, and filled with women who know how to kick butt when it is necessary. This is a series that I really want to continue to read and in fact I am going to read book 1 “Tink” soon. D. M. Earl clearly has a way with getting my attention with this MC books.

Shore Lodge by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book got me in my feels. Jacklyn, a recently widow, finds herself running away from a secured facility.  I mean I use to joke with my parents that I would put them in a locked facility when they got older but I never actually thought I would do it. Dusty, (Jacklyn’s son) does some horrible things to his mother which include tricking her into going to Shore Lodge. Now she has another grown child (Rose) but she isn’t aware of what her brother’s doings. Unfortunately she is also tricked (at least I believe that) into thinking that Shore Lodge is exactly where her mother needs to be. I found this book very relatable and very sad at the same time.

Absolution by Anise Storm & Taylor L. Ray – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Anise has done it again!!! I absolutely loved this book. The twists, turns, and the unequivocal connections between the characters is so amazing!!!! I really wish I didn’t have to put it down so much ( I had to go back to work). I am not kidding when I say that YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!! I pictured everything that is happening to the characters in this book, my uncle always tells me if you are able to picture what is happening in the book then it is an amazing book. Julianna, Whitney, Grant and Dominic are the main characters in this book. I am curious to see if this book becomes a series for Whitney and Dominic. You never know what could really happen at those parties that Dominic throws!!!!

Chatroom With A View by Glenn Maynard – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is a very dark book and unless you are understanding of that and are willing to really read it thoroughly I wouldn’t recommend it. I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to like it bc it is so dark. It makes me feel sad for people who have gone thru things like this. I feel so much pain as well as a connection with Troy throughout the whole book. There are moments that I can actually visualize and its quite disturbing when I see what Troy is going through. I will tell that his father got what he deserved in my opinion.

Straight for the Kill (Benoit and Dayne Mystery Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book is seriously amazing. I literally hated when I had to put it down. Deputy Lila Dayne and Sheriff Elizabeth Benoit are two of the most amazing characters I have ever come across. In fact, Sheriff Ellie, reminds me of Alex Cross who is from James Patterson’s books. I felt every emotion that these two and the rest of the sheriffs office went through as they tried to figure out the murder that happened recently and how it connected to a murder that happened decades prior. I promise you that this book is hands down one of the best books I have read. I honestly believe that everyone needs to read this book. I am also going to read the other two books, since this is Book #3. I strongly recommend that everyone gets this book now.

OMG!!!! This book had me on pins and needles the entire time. I am normally not one for romance but the chemistry from Rowan and Alyssa was just OMG!!!! I am in love with these characters and I can’t wait to read Book Two, Warrior. I have never wanted to learn more about the background of characters then I do with this book. There is a war and its raging inside everyone, Do Alyssa and Rowan win? You need to read it to find out. I promise you, you will not regret reading this book. I know I don’t regret it at all.

Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book is book 2 in the series, We follow Madame Elinor Chalamet, who is a ghost talker, as she attends the Winter Revels for the first time. She and her friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue are put into situations that most of us would run from. As I read, I felt like Elinor, didn’t really feel like she belonged there. There is a romantic feel throughout this book between Elinor and Tristan, (the Duke de Archambeau), do they get together? Read and find out. I will tell you once you start reading this book, you will not put it down until you have finished it.

Freedom Rings (The Circle Book 3) by Brenda Hardwick – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

So this is book 3 of this series, you will get a little lost in the beginning if you don’t read the first two books like me. However, I do plan on going back and reading the first two later. Soraya is the main character who is forced to take on the lead role to help The Circle prevent the CEO of DNAgen Biolabs from launching a pill that can remove specific people from the world. I feel like I might have said too much and I encourage any and all of you to read this book and the other two books as well. This is Soraya’s time to share her story and I know that you will love this book just as much as I did.

Return to Gallanvaig: Beyond A Quirk of DestinyReturn to Gallanvaig: Beyond A Quirk of Destiny by Catherine Greenall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I honestly feel like this book is about world domination and how it goes from a democratic society to an a World Alliance. Now there are some people who want to go back to the democratic society but many people don’t believe that they can survive like that. This story makes me believe that World War 3 could actually happen with the US. It also makes me think of all the things that have happened in today’s world. I feel like we just keep getting knocked down with illnesses, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados. Disasters that could have been avoided if we just took the necessary precautions. Definitely not a quick read at all, its 600 pages.

And Then She Fell by Dreena Collins – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book hits home for those who have lost someone unexpectedly. Catherine Keely, a very distraught mom is trying to understand what happened to her daughter. No one seems to “know” what happened to her. Catherine does her best to find out what happened and doesn’t believe that her daughter just fell because she was intoxicated. I am not a mom so I can’t relate to losing a kid, but I have lost my mom and feel like there is something missing. Does she find out what really happened to her daughter, You have to read to find out.

A Christmas to Remember by 5 Prince Publishing – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is a series of stories centered around the Christmas holiday. I figured I would like it because it’s more then one story and that they are centered around Christmas, which I really normally like that time of year. While it isn’t what I normally read, it’s very interesting on how they can take similar stories and combine them like this. I am currently still reading the last story as I write this, I realized that I really like romance stories (I think that what these are in my opinion) even though I have told myself multiple times that I don’t.

This book had my attention from start to finish!!! If you have felt alone and yet surrounded by people, this book is for you. Jasper Lee Andrews (the Main Character) shows you how to survive/disappear from those who are out to hurt you or even worse kill you. Jasper’s world is turned upside in a matters of hours. She goes from being a part of a family of five to an orphan after the Order kills her family. With the help of some new “friends” she is able to get the revenge she has desperately needed. I can’t wait until book two comes out!!!

This book is amazing!!!! I was just blown away with how there is a mystery to Damien as he comes back into Evelyn’s life after just up and leaving while in high school. There also something going on with Evelyn but is she willing to open up or does she stay closed off. That’s what I like about this story, the authors really found a way to relate to everyone in this book. I really hope that there is more stories like this one from Anise and Taylor.

I thought the book was going to capture me, as I like witchcraft and magic in stories. However, I felt rather lost like Wilf (the main character in my opinion). This is suppose to be the book 1 of the series but I felt like I was missing something throughout the story. Maybe if I continue into the series, it might pull me in. I really want to continue the series so keep a lookout for my next review of book 2.

River Witch by Cheryl Burman – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is different type of read for me. I will tell you I felt pulled every time I read another page. I wasn’t sure what to think with the time jumping with Hester ( the main character) who at the start of the book was 8 years of age, then it jumped to her being 14 years of age. I am still actually reading it while I write this review to be honest. I have found myself wanting to watch a river and see if it will too take me away. I will continue reading the book and will give an updated review once I have finished the book.

In Plain Sight (Logan McKenna Mystery Series Book 8) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is Book 8 in this series, however it’s the first book I have read from this author.  Logan is main character in this particular book. She is a newly married mom and grandma. She volunteers at the local aquarium in the Raptor Center. Initially I thought I wouldn’t like this book, it really took me sometime to get into the story itself. I will tell you that I didn’t expect what I read to be honest. It’s a good book, I feel like I would like it more if I had read the previous books.

This the first book of the series. It’s also the first one I read by Anise. In the beginning I found Caspian to be a total douche bag mostly because how he treats women. But somehow he managed to capture my heart a little bit when running into an old friend who was down on her luck, Paisley. I can relate to Paisley at times which is probably why I want to continue to read the series.

I won’t reveal who it is but its definitely someone I didn’t suspect. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends!!!
