Great read by McKinley who is a new author to me. Have a box of tissues ready because you will need them.

Gianluca: A Standalone Enemies-to-Lovers Office Romance (Marini Family Romance #1) by Isabella Cassazza

Not my first read by the author, but a new series. Cassazza has outdone herself in this book. I will be looking for more.

Gianluca isn’t thrilled when he learns that his new intern is taking over for his assistant while on vacation. He doesn’t want an inexperienced young woman from the States. The quote I chose for Gianluca is: “The intern. I know who you are. I’m Gianluca Marini. Your boss. That’s all you need to know about me.”

Callie is heading to Italy for an internship, but doesn’t have an easy time after she lands. She doesn’t think her boss likes her. She quickly learns that isn’t exactly the case. The quote I chose for Callie is: “I owe you. Actually, I owe you my life. If there’s anything I can do for you… just tell me.”

Bonds That Beckon (Daughters of Anubis #1) by Kelli Kimble

This is the first book I’ve read by Kimble. I will definitely be on the lookout for more.

Iris doesn’t fit in and isn’t comfortable in her new town. She doesn’t have any friends and isn’t making any. She meets Mr. Anu and he helps in more ways than one. The quote I chose for Iris is: “Mr. Anu has been nothing but kind to me. And it’s not as if we’ll be sitting around like regular houseguests. He has plenty of work to do around the farm and no hands except for me. Daddy and I can help outside, and Mother can make meals and clean and properly stock his pantry.”

Jacob is someone who can relate to Iris. He doesn’t fit in and when his sister tells him about Mr. Anu he doesn’t believe. Things make him see light once he meets Iris. The quote I chose for Jacob is: “I can’t tell you. But it’s gonna be great.”

Pasty is a mom of two. When one of her kids needs her more than the other she leaves her state. When the prez of Satan’s Devils shows up unannounced. The quote I chose for Patsy is: “Who are you? And what the hell do you think you’re doing in my house?”

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel #1) by India Kells

Kells has done it once again. I love seeing characters from her other books and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Kells has a very devoted fan right here.

Orla, the journalist and mad woman, is finally getting to do what she does best. Heading into dangerous territory. When she finds herself face to mask with the Vigilante. The quote I chose for Orla is: “I’m only asking you to get me through the doors and point me to the people I’m looking for. That’s it. Minimal risk for you. Almost none. As soon as I’m in, feel free to leave. I don’t need a shield, I need a way in, and you’re it.”

Sam, bad boy gone half good, is finding a new drug coming onto the streets of Chicago. He follows his guy when the journalist gets information for him. The quote I chose for Sam is: “Who I am is not important. Stopping Phantom’s distribution and getting rid of the monsters who’ll spread it like a disease over this city is. Now, tell me what you know. Why did you meet with Damon Evans at the El Diablo tonight?”

Highly recommended for crime lovers. Its worth the read!

Trey, the eldest and baseball player, finally comes home to settle down. Thing is though, he never thought about finding love. He comes to find that he’s not the only one who loves Christmas. The quote I chose for Trey is: “I’m not going to deny I was a little taken aback, but it’s not something I’m going to keep bringing up. I’m also sorry you had to find out about this contract the way you did. I’m going to discover how it happened. I don’t like that it’s out like this. The Stars now believe that I’m going to play with them and I haven’t even given serious thought to what I’m going to do.”

The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth

This is the first book I’ve read by Barth, but it won’t be my last one. I loved the holiday movie vibe I got from it. The characters were just like the Hallmark movies.

Rowan has had a tough life. From childhood to adulthood. One thing after another always happens to her. When she’s up for a big promotion she is also sent to a resort with her biggest enemy. The quote I chose for Rowan is: “No. No, I won’t help you. At least, not until Jeremy’s shared his side of the story. And I don’t want the promotion by default. It wouldn’t mean nearly as much as if I beat him out, fair and square.”

Jeremy had a rough life with a deadbeat dad. When his step-dad stepped in and saved the day. Literally. He works hard but he finds himself falling for a coworker. The quote I chose for Jeremy is: “I do know. More than you think. My mom and I struggled, too. My dad was a deadbeat. Plain and simple. Spent what we had, and then what we didn’t. When she left him, things got even worse.”

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves romantic comedy.

Bishop’s Gambit (Redclaw Origins #2) by McKenna Dean

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. It won’t be my last and I love it. Dean knows how to keep you interested from beginning to end.

Rhett Bishop is trying to make things right with Redclaw. She has to pretty much jump through hoops to do so. The quote I chose for Rhett is: “You want me to work with Knight on this mission. Undercover in Forest Grove.”

Peter Knight is a genius. When he is told he has to go on a case. He’s not an agent like Bishop but it doesn’t stop him. The quote I chose for Peter is: “Have to be certain nothing we put out there is dangerous to the rest of the population. Can’t put anything on the market too advanced, or someone will start looking into how Redclaw is making these extraordinary gains in manufacturing. I don’t see that slowing down our old pal Stirling, though.”

Kismet Heart: A Protector Romance (A Surviving Love Novel #1) by Brinda Berry

This is the first book by Berry, but it won’t be my last by Berry. She did a fan-freaking-tastic job on this book. It had me hanging on wanting more.

Malerie is the girl who survived a bombing that happened when she was eleven. When something happens on her eighteenth birthday she decides that she needs help. Something is going on. The quote I chose for Malerie is: “It doesn’t matter. UNIX is an older computer operating system. The point is what the numbers mean to me. It translates to the exact date and time of the bombing that happened when I was a little girl. The building collapsed and everyone died. Well, except for one.”

Ace, the security guy is now a bodyguard. What Malerie doesn’t know is he’s her bodyguard. He is falling, but doesn’t want to let her know. The quote I chose for Ace is: “What about someone offering them a nice juicy steak? Rare and fresh from the butcher’s shop with a raw aroma they can smell three yards away. Would they leave Gertrude for the food?”

Naheshi is sent to live with the King and Queen. He’s told to spy on someone he holds dear. When something happens things don’t go as planned. The quote I chose for Naheshi is: “My lady, I am grieved to tell you they’re true. But who knows what was in her heart? My lady the queen is high-spirited. The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga #3) by Michele Sims

This is the first book I’ve read, but it won’t be my last book by her. The way this book is written is wonderful.

Bella leaves her job to work for an upcoming music company. She doesn’t like letting people in, but when her boss starts showing a different side she doesn’t know what to do. The quote I chose for Bella is: “We’re both struggling to express our feelings, but I’ve always heard when people tell you about themselves, believe it the first time. I don’t want to be just another woman you lay with for a couple of times and then what? We won’t be able to work together when the lust is gone because surely, it will disappear. This conversation is way too deep for this time of morning, so let’s change the subject. Why did you blame me for canceling your fireworks show?”

Miles, aka Ari of AriMusic, thinks of Bella often. Even if it’s as Ice Queen or Belasy. He finds himself falling when he doesn’t understand it. The quote I chose for Miles is: “He wants to walk, and he’s impatient to get started.”

Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good book.

Playing Series 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen

Playing for the Money

This is the first book I’ve read by the author but it won’t be the last. Queen knows how to capture a reader’s attention and knows how to keep it. Playing for the Money is a great read.

Cat, the coach’s daughter, takes on the task of being a bad boys handler. Being the daughter of the coach has points, but also has disadvantages. The quote I chose for Cat is: “I’ll contact the Players Association so you won’t have to pay their attorney. I’m pretty sure I can convince them.”

Hunter, the bad boy football player, finds himself in trouble. Not once but twice. Cat comes to his rescue for the second one. He keeps his personal life locked up tight. The quote I chose for Hunter is: “I wouldn’t know. Because I don’t need to be crazy to be in love with you. I’d be crazy if I didn’t love you, Cat.”

Highly recommended for sport romance lovers.

Playing for Love

Queen has really done it with this book. You’ll need tissues. Maybe two boxes. Playing for Love is a great book and I can’t wait for the next one.

Mia, best friend to Gabe’s girlfriend, went to college with the pro. She had a huge crush on him back in the day, but does she still have it? The quote I chose for Mia is: “I can’t wait to dream of you again, to wake up with you and remember it wasn’t all a dream.”

Gabe, a star QB, isn’t sure what he wants anymore. His love is football…or it was. What happens when his crush from college shows up? The quote I chose for Gabe is: “It’s not the way I feel. You , Mia, are far more important to me than football.”

Highly recommended for sport romance lovers.

Playing for Keeps

Queen loves to keep her readers wanting more. This next story requires tissues as well. The heartbreak reading this is real.

Tate, someone who loves the game, isn’t quite ready for the storm called Chloe. He plays hard to get and really despises her. The quote I chose for Tate is: “Get out, Chloe. It’s time for me to strip down and take an ice bath and I wouldn’t want you to get overexcited and out of control.”

Chloe, aka Smitty, is trying to climb her way to the top. She is sassy and honestly a great person. She sets her eye on Tate. If only she can get over his personality. The quote I chose for Chloe is: “I already am, big boy. Didn’t you know? I’m the pathetic little girl of the late-great master trying to fill her daddy’s shoes and never gonna make it.”

Highly recommended for sport romance lovers!

Red Farlow a PI gets a phone call no one wants to get. A friend is hurt and Red hauls butt there. He walks in to find his friend dying and blood on the floor.

Red calls in friends to help him out with this case. The quote I chose for Red is: “You can only get onto and off the island three ways. One is by air to or from McKinnon airport. Two, by water. Three, by car, bicycle, or foot over the Torras Causeway to the mainland. A boat could be a problem since the tide was incoming at that time, or so I believe. Have to double-check. The easiest and quickest route is by auto over the causeway.”

Logan is at it again saving people. When she meets her new neighbor she knows something isn’t right. Things happen which causes her to mess up her knee. The quote I chose for Logan is: “Jeez, do they think she’s going to be okay? Will she recover?”

Ben has been through so much within the last couple years. First his fiancee leaves him and now it seems like every time he turns around Logan is getting hurt. He loves Logan and surprises her with something. The quote I chose for Ben is: “I know it seems crazy. Why now? I’ve been asking myself the same question. This is the first book I’ve read by the author and as a non-fiction it won’t be my last. Usually I don’t do non-fiction, but when I saw this book I picked it up.

DeBlassie has a way with words and throughout the entire book you learn different things. Each chapter will teach you something new.

The quote I chose for the book is: Goodbye Old Man Gloom, today and every day. With my light, I banish you. With my light, I banish stagnate energies. With my light, I banish old selves that no longer serve me. With my light, I banish the woe others cast my way. I let the flames of my soul burn them alive until they are nothing but ash and charred bits of history, good for nothing but fuel for my cosmic compost.

The quote I chose for Julian is: “I’m the hard a**, Julian Dupart. You two were hired to replace one person: Mia Donnelly. According to your resumes, each of you hold all the specific requirements to meet the conditions of this job on your own. You received huge salary bumps and countless perks. Instead, two blivets greeted me with attitude and boredom, wasting time playing games. Both of you are on notice. This is the second book I’ve read by Tammy and I love it! She has a way of bringing the characters to life. She is an amazing author.

Zenia, Zen as everyone calls her, is excited that she is going to meet her favorite idol. She had his poster on her wall when she was 16. The quote I chose for Zen is: “If I’d known that this was the way I’d meet the swim star I’d admired since I was a teenager, I would’ve worn some perfume or at least a little more makeup. I never expected it to be this intimate.”

Sebastian, aka Seb, is a known Olympic Swimmer. He’s going back to his hometown after being away for years. This is the place where he learned to swim. The quote I chose for Seb is: “I’m serious, Zenia. I’m not throwing out empty compliments to win you over, I swear. I really mean it. I see how you talk to people, even with your family, your sister. It’s within you, this force of support and motivation. Your sweet, genuine nature makes it easier for people to believe when you tell them they can achieve anything, that their dreams are attainable. I saw it yesterday when you were talking to new clients. You honestly want to help them triumph in whatever goals they set for themselves. It’s really admirable and much more selfless than what goes on in my world of glitzy functions and media exploits.”

This is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it for you!

Kickflip Summer by Danielle Jacks

This is a very good book. As the first I’ve read by the author I can say Jacks has a new follower. She knows how to create characters you wish you could join.

Kara, a college student, finds that her summer is going to be boring without her best friend. She decides to join him on his adventure, but she’ll be getting one of her own. The quote I chose for Kara is: “Don’t worry, I won’t get any romantic feelings towards you. I don’t want your head getting any bigger.”

Julian, Bear, is the heir of Blue Oaks Theme Park. He loves skateboarding and wants to make a summer out of it. When Kara shows up it reminds him of what he can’t do. The quote I chose for Bear is: “I’m just messing with you. You’re cute when you’re flustered.”

If you want romance then this is for you. Highly recommended for anyone!

Hero High : Heartbreak Rebellion ( Hero High Collections Book 2) by Mina Chara – Review by Heather Bass

Heartbreak Rebellion (Hero High, #4)Heartbreak Rebellion by Mina Chara
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. This has been one of my favorite series of this year. I can see this turning into a television series or movies. These characters suck you into their world like you never left. This is the collection of books four through six. The names of these books are Depression, Acceptance, and Hero. You do need to read the first three books to understand what is going on. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately and I read it all the way through. It only took me a few hours to devour this addictive book.

Friday is still learning how to be a great superhero. She loves going to her school but the crime is getting worse and she doesn’t know why. Friday gets an unexpected visit from a well known villain and he tells her some top secret information that changes everything in her new life. She also is now on a new team and she meets Luke which is a nice guy but even though Ashley is a villain she still cares for him. Will Friday find out why the crime is increasing or is danger lurking right in front of her?

Hero High:: Heartbreak Rebellion (Hero High Collections Book 2) by Mina Chara

Chara has done it again! Hero High is an amazing series and I hope there’s more. If I could give this more than 5 stars then I would. If you like Fantasy this is the book for you.

Friday, Fitz, is left with the fact that Ashley is no longer at Hero High. Then things change. Villains aren’t villains? Things aren’t what they seem. The quote I chose for Friday is: “And how’s that supposed to work? That’s not a conclusion! Fine me all you want, I’m not finishing your show!”

Ashley, Dr. Dangerous, is moved to the villain school. His mother is back in the picture, but she’s not exactly what you can call nice. His mother starts controlling people including him. The quote I chose for Ashley is: “Even if I wanted to help, Friday, I can’t. I’m surprised you’re even talking to me.”

Highly recommended for Fantasy lovers.
