Rewind (Rewind #1)Rewind by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rewind by Rowan Shaw was a good 4 star read and book 1 in the Rewind series.
This is a M/M read.

Florian walks in on a shocking scene, his GF in bed with his best friend. She appears to have no remorse whatsoever and blames him for her actions because of his bisexuality. I instantly had a dislike for this woman. I question why he stayed with her as long as he did.

Enzo who is deaf also went through an abusive relationship and was trying to recover from it. When Enzo and Florian reconnect after eight years you can feel the love between them. They were perfect for each other.

As we move forward, the story goes from past to present and we start to get some answers as to why Florian went away and Enzo has some deep scars he’s trying to recover from.

I will warn that there is some emotional abuse that was really sad and hard to read at times. The secondary characters were interesting to say the least, most of them were disappointing to me in the attitudes and comments that would come from them. I have several friends who are part of the LGBT community so this was a hard book for me to read at times. I was so angry and wanted to wring some necks at how stupid and mean people were being. This was a great read but had my emotions all over the place. If you are an overly sensitive person, some of the abuse/comments in the book may be triggers for you. What’s even more sad is that some of these things are an everyday thing for some people. Overall the author has done a great job with her writing. This was my first read from this author, I look forward to reading more from her.

Rewind is a brilliantly captivating and engaging second chance romance read. This is my first read from this author and Rowan Shaw definitely has not disappointed me in the slightest. The characters that have been created for this read were real, true to the story, relatable and connectable. It really made you believe you were immersed in the story and feel as though you were part of it.
This isn’t a genre I would normally read, but I’m glad I picked it up and gave it the chance it rightly deserved. It was well written flowed effortlessly through chapter to chapter. I can’t wait to see what else this author brings.

Rewind by Rowan Shaw is a contemporary bisexual romance story. This is my first book by Rowan Shaw and I enjoyed the whole book. I did read it all in one sitting. The characters, Enzo and Florian became part of my book family. Enzo had so much taken away from him. He was lied to, cheated on, and an accident that took his hearing away. My heart hurt for him. When he saw Florian the friendship came back. There are some things that needs to be mended and hopefully Enzo and Florian can move on to allow one another love again. Will there be a second chance in Enzo and Florian life?

Wow I completely and thoroughly loved this book. Before reading this I had no idea how many different ways people can be prejudice and from so many different people in ones life. This book was very eye opening. Reading about Enzo and Florian’s experiences and their up and down relationship kept me captivated so much so that I couldn’t put this book down. This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m ecstatic that I decided to read it because it is truly an amazing story. The author did an exceptional job keeping the story flowing nicely and creating great characters. I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to read the next book

This is the first book I have read from this author and now she has a new fan. I have never read an m/m book before and I’m glad I did. I fell in love with these men right from the beginning. This is the first book of the Rewind Deut. I could not put this book down for anything. It only took me a couple of hours to devour this amazing book.

Enzo’s life changed the day he lost his hearing. He had to start his life all over. Enzo has to fight for everything that he wants and needs. He doesn’t let anyone or anything tear him down except the man that broke his heart long ago. Enzo now has a new life and man that doesn’t treat him right. He is in complete shock when he runs into Florian. Enzo feels that chemistry from all those years ago. Florian has a great business. He has the best life but things start to crash down around him. Florian is also shocked when he sees Enzo but their history is not good. Deep down Florian feels something for Enzo but is it too late?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and forgiveness. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. Enzo is a good man that has some difficult times in his life. He has walls up that is from his past. Florian is very handsome with a good head on his shoulders. He knows what he wants but is it right for him. These characters have some steamy scenes that might not be for some readers. This talented author brought up some strong issues but she wrote them in a very tasteful manner. I can’t wait to see what is next for these unforgettable characters.

I really enjoyed this story. Its a heartwarming tale about love between to guys and all the trouble and horrible attitudes they have to face just for falling for someone of the same sex.

Florian and Enzo were lovers in high school but because of the attitudes of their family and peers they kept their relationship secret until an attack on Enzo changed both their lives forever.

Years passed and they meet again in a bar and both find out that the past was what neither of them believed it to be.

After all this time their love was still strong and and they were stronger to face anything that was thrown at them because of their sexuality.

I must fully admit I don’t usually read m/m novels but I’m so glad I read this one it was a beautiful story. I’m a sucker for a second chance romance especially after a tragedy that originally pulled them apart but seeing the story unravel was magical. I was glued to this story I didn’t move for 2 hours I had to carry in reading til the very end I needed to know the outcome and I was eager to keep turning the pages I was just lost in their world!

Rewind is the first book in the Rewind series. Thankfully it does not end in a cliffhanger.

This book had me sad, angry, and happy. The characters go through many challenges as the story is woven, and you feel it all. I appreciated the clear definition between the chapters that are set in the past and the ones set in the present. Some books don’t make those shifts clear so I’m really glad the author took the time to differentiate them so well.

This is the second book I’ve read in the past month that has had a person from the Deaf community as a main character. I didn’t know how much I needed to understand the struggles they go through until I ran across these kinds of books. It has been an eye-opening experience for sure. I am grateful there are authors out there bringing these kinds of experiences to readers’ awareness.

I enjoyed Enzo and Florian’s story so much! I’m really excited that Raphael’s story is in the next book because his character is also intriguing. You just know it’s going to be good. ?

Rewind was a really interesting read. It had a really lovely storyline to it, I really liked the characters and I think the author explored something different with them also which I really enjoyed. It was nice to read about different characters and their lifestyles. I can’t say that I connected with any of the characters in particular but I certainly liked reading about them. I’m not usually a fan of m/m stories but Florian and Enzo were really nice, genuine characters to read about – I definitely felt for Florian during those first few chapters told from his POV. I really liked Enzo and it was great that the author did explore something different for his character it made him seem so much more real. I think he was my favourite character in the story, there was just something about him – I really admired the strength he had to overcome what happened to him.
As the author’s debut novel I was really impressed and I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I loved this….absolutely loved it. I don’t read M/M romances too often but this one intrigued me so I gave it a go. This is so much more than a romance between two people. It actually made me *feel* what it was like to be them….against every prejudice you can Imagine. From outting themselves and just showing affection in public to rejection from family and friends to public ridicule. They had a long road to journey down to get to their happy ending.

Enzo is amazing! So strong and smart! I loved everything about him. He has a heart of gold! His struggle to overcome made him who he became to be. Florian is a different sort of strong. What he had to overcome is not the same as Enzo but caused by the same “accident”. I almost feel he got the worst end of the deal. When they are together it’s easy to see how happy they both become by their smiles and gestures.

This is my first book by this author. I loved the writing..it is so easy to read and I finished this In one day. I couldn’t put it down. It is filled with suspense, charm and many lovely moments. My only complaint would be Enzos family. I felt that was left open ended. But really it’s a small issue in the grand scheme of things. The characters were great! I think I would love a Patrick in my life. He seemed a “no holds barred” kind of guy. I see the next book is out so I will be diving into that next.

I hope that the literary world embraces change faster than the human world and soon we will no longer have to categorize ANY story as L B G T or Q. Love is love is love is love (and hate is hate). If everyone could just embrace others as being flesh and blood, wouldn’t the world be better for it?

Anyway…

I love when a story has a soundtrack that accompanies it. REWIND has a couple of “playlists” of sorts. You can click a link to learn how to pronounce character’s names (always handy). You can click a link to find the recipes that are featured in the story. There are a few others also – worth the time to explore.

On to my review of the actual story. This is a book that is told in dual points of view flashing between past and present. It’s a tale that has drama and tragedy and second chances and love. This is a story that I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall a few times because I was super frustrated with certain aspects. Overall, this is a story I enjoyed and I intend to continue the series.

“Why did people always think that me being queer meant they could ask all kinds of weird shit about my sex life?” WHY INDEED!!

The story flowed pretty well, the characters are developed and the overall story seemed to follow plot points. There is a super strong undertone of homo-phobia and lack of compassion in the story and it made me feel bad for the characters. Their choices in friends and dates leave much to be desired. (Did I mention I wanted to hurl my Kindle a few times?).

I look forward to reading book 2 in the series.

Rewind (Rewind #1)Rewind by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rewind is a wonderfully written M/M contemporary romance by Rowan Shaw. M/M is a relatively new genre for me and this is by far the best book in this genre that I have read so far.
Enzo and Florian were sweethearts as young boys until tragedy struck and they were forced apart both believing that the other didn’t want to see them anymore.
Years later they both meet by chance in a club and the sexual attraction is still there but both have recently come out of long term relationships that they haven’t got over and starting a new relationship is the last thing on both their minds. BUT what they had before was special and should they risk their fragile heart and make a go of their obvious attraction and feeling for one another?
I adored both Enzo and Florian, they both have their flaws but deep down both are very sweet, amazing guys. One thing I really loved about this book is that Enzo is profoundly deaf. As a person with a hearing impairment, I loved that the author chose to have a profoundly deaf character in a main role. A bold move that not many authors would be willing to take.
After finishing this book I discovered that this was the author’s debut novel. All I can say is that if this is a debut novel then I can’t wait to see what comes next.

REWIND By Rowan Shaw. This story had me completely hooked from beginning to end. Enzo and Florian Have such an emotional story to be told about heartbreak, second chances and moving on after hurt. The writing is smooth and engaging, the author does a wonderful job of writing a story that had my emotions all over the place. Each character has something different to bring to this great story. I felt every emotion the author wrote into the storyline and the chemistry between the characters was also felt, I’d feel like I truly knew these characters instead of reading about them. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend it. I’m excited to read more from this author.

Rewind was an interesting novel that focuses on the LGBT community. It was exceptionally written with an easy to follow storyline. It was very steamy and romantic. Florian and Enzo were the two main characters. Each had a unique and distinguishable personality. Out of the two, Enzo was my favorite. He did not let his disability hold him back and eagerly pursues his dreams. I loved how driven he was and he also seemed easier for me to relate to. This book was not something I usually read and I felt that it taught me different aspects of its setting, French sign language, and also how hostile the world can be toward others. This book did have several sex scenes and also had several hateful scenes as well. I really enjoyed this novel and I think others would as well.

Rewind is the first book in the Rewind Series by Rowan Shaw. It is a emotionally charged M/M, second chances story that pulled me in right from the beginning. The story is a little dark, and very sad in places- and my emotions were battered by what I was reading- but the story is so well written, and the characters were so ‘real’ that I would have walked over hot coals to find out what happens. The drama, chemistry, emotion, and a little suspense was brilliantly woven through the storyline. Ms. Rowan certainly knows how to tell a great story- writing a complex, thought-provoking, moving, memorable, and engrossing story.
Enzo and Florian were the very best of friends, turned lovers, during high school. They kept their relationship secret, until a traumatic event shattered their lives, leaving Enzo deaf and the two on separate courses. Now, a chance encounter reunites the two- much has happened in their lives since they last saw one another, but the sparks are still there. Will they get their second chance, or is there too much in their way to overcome?
A beautiful story about friendship, overcoming obstacles, being true to yourself, self-discovery, second chances, love, pain, heartache, and so much more…..
Bring on Book #2!

Thank you, Ms. Rowan!

My first book by Rowan Shaw and I did not know what to expect. I love reading books recommended to me and then surprise! I love it! I haven’t read a lot of male/male romances but this one was beautifully written.

“Everything was so peaceful; I was finally safe in his arms. Enzo was one of the few people who had never judged me. One of the few who had never put me down. He made me feel secure like no one else could I was nearly clutching him to make sure he was really here.”

The love between Florian and Enzo is so strong and heart stopping. These characters are strong, smart, and oh so sexy!

I love endings that, while are happy for the main characters, leave me asking questions and looking for the next book. Shaw did not disappoint! Looking forward to more!

REWIND is Rowan Shaw’s debut novel that simply was a powerful and moving read. The author has given us a story where two characters have found love but also dealt with family and homophobic society. Every character that was given to us were so well created and a story line that drew me into this M/M romance. The author and her amazing writing was able to pull so many emotions from me, sadness, happiness, and angry that truly made this story stand out and PULL me into a one sitting read.
The story follows Florian and Enzo who dated in high school and tragedy tore them apart. Then fate brings them together and that SPARK is still there. Both still hurt from what is happening in their lives they are not sure if what they are feeling is rebound, they build a friendship.
This book simply had enough romance, drama, and darkness. I highly recommend this book and really cannot wait to read more from this author!

A great read about second chances. Florian’s world is turned upside down when he finds his girlfriend cheating on him with someone else. Depressed, he goes to a new nightclub and bumps into his old flame from school, Enzo. They pick up their relationship from where it ended after the accident and are deliriously happy. But when hate crime threatens their happiness. are they destined to repeat the same events as before?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Enzo sweet and kind but also standing up for himself or Florian going for what he wants but also haunted by the past. Great cast of supporting characters like the overprotective friend in Patrick or the supportive Heloise or the annoying Cyrille.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the park with its trees and gardens and ice cream for a homely feel. Or the inside of Enzo’s house with its pastel colours and soft furnishings for a sense of comfort. Or the trip to Paris later on full of life and people and things to see, gardens and kitchens and old bookstores. Also loved the use of sound throughout with its peaceful absence or uncomfortable yells whih were wonderfully written.
I loved the use of French culture and life and language in the novel giving it a sense of character The portrayal of the deaf community was perfectly written in Enzo and his school as people to be respected and listened to even if they are different, as equals in society. I loved the use of sign language in the novel which was a wonderful addition
The switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story and were easy to follow with names in chapter titles. The flashbacks worked well to inform what happened eight years ago and didn’t disrupt from the narrative of the present. I also liked the use of suspense with these, as the accident is explained slowly, making you want to read on to find out what happened. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

It was refreshing reading this story, its set In France and I don’t get to read many stories set there, so it’s nice to see a different place. This is a beautiful but heart-breaking story, the one thing I did adore most was the way the author dealt with deafness and tragic circumstances, they really pull you into the story, making you feel the depth of pain, but showing you that there are ways out of the pain giving you pathways you may seek. I know not everyone likes M/M and if you don’t try to look past that as his is a beautiful story that you need to have in your life. Enzo and Florian have a love that will make you see past their gender.

This whole story was about acceptance but the only acceptance you need is your own. I don’t see how people go through life worrying about what other people think of them. People will judge you no matter what you do. So why not live as yourself? I don’t understand the cruelty people display over finding out someone is gay. Florian was looking for someone to love every side of him but he was stuck in a miserable life. The fact that he felt that he needed acceptance showed me more about him than anything else. I don’t normally read Male on Male stories. But this one was a nice read and I didn’t feel forced to accept anything other than what I believe.

This book was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I truly had a lot of anger when reading this book due to the constant negativity against the LGBT community.

I was so upset to learn of all the ways the two main characters Florian and Enzo were treated just for being who they are and who they love. Florian’s ex girlfriend Marlene is a piece of work. Her manipulation and deviousness drove me insane and I was so saddened to learn that Florian put up with it for as long as he did.

Florian on the other hand, was a love hate for me. Most people know he is bi-sexual and the fact that he can’t bring himself to be who he really is in public annoys me but also I can understand that he was weary about how it would affect his business and his relationship with Enzo.

Enzo is such a strong person. When his terrible trama happened, he coped and moved on to live his life to the fullest and that is truly inspiring. The relationship between him and Florian is beautiful and in my opinion is true destiny. With all of the past secrets they have overcome together and all of the present day obstacles, Enzo did not give up on Florian.

I highly recommend this book, it is a great way to show how people with a different sexual preference were and are still treated in different countries, and how far we have come as a society to accept what most people think is “not normal”. We have a long way to go but I see a bright future for the LGBT community and it will be beautiful, fair and equal.

Rewind by Rowan Shaw is a M/M romance and I really enjoyed it. I love that there are authors willing to explore this subgenre in the romance world. It since seems like this an area that is getting more popular but I don’t think there is enough. A good romance can be written no matter the sexual orientation of the main characters and we got that in this book.

This story brought some things to light that I wouldn’t ever think about or encounter as a straight person but it saddens me to know that the situations in this story could and probably have happened to many who only want to love and show the world the love they have their partner and can’t.

I love how Enzo and Florian find one another again and it feels like almost no time has past. Enzo’s friend Patrick needs his own story. I feel like there is a pretty deep story he needs to tell.

Looking forward to the next book.

REWIND by Rowan Shaw. This is the first book by Rowan Shaw I’ve read but it will not be my last. This is the story of Enzo Chevalier who lost his hearing but was determined to not let it stand in the way of his success and it didn’t. He has everything working good until the love of his life walks out on him. Enter Florian Beaudry who Rowan had a relationship with in high school. Florian had his whole life planned to a tee or so he thought. When he walks out on his girlfriend and best friend he realizes his feelings for Enzo never went away. Both guys have suffered from the prejudices of our society physically and emotionally but they are learning to love and trust again. Will they let their guards down and really explore their relationship and what they can have or will the be too scared to try again. Read Rewind to find out.

This novel was quite the debut novel for sure from Rowan Shaw. I feel quite pulled in multiple directions as far as my opinion goes still a few days after finishing this up. This was a dark and twisty, angsty, and well at times frustrating MM romance that had me captivated at times simply because I had to know what was going to come of it if anything. I see the beauty in the story here and truly found it within the struggling relationship between Enzo and Florian, I just think it struggled to fully get there for me anyways. The writing was strong though and the world building was beautiful, I would definitely be around to see what Rowan Shaw has in store for future novels!
