Master's Rise: Book One (Phoenix 1)Master’s Rise: Book One by L. Ann Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more from her. This is one of my favorite types of books, MC and hot, steamy romance. I was pulled into this book from the very start and kept engaged until the end. This is a fast page turner that is well develped with characters that make the story feel realistic. Colt has lost faith in his MC Brothers but not anything else he was taught. Seren is about to find out the most important lessons he learned. I highly recommend their story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the very beginning to the very end of The Travelers: Chimera Rebellion, I was pleasantly surprised with how this story was woven. This book deserves 5 stars and I believe it is a definite must read! This book made me feel every emotion at once, and I loved it. From curiosity to anger, defeat to hope, and everything in between! Katie and Calm’s story is stunning from start to finish with mild violence, mild sexual scenes, and minor language. I am very eager to see how Katie’s story continues in book 2 of this series, Chimera Revolution! “Sleep, my darling. Tomorrow we have our whole lives ahead of us. Tomorrow, we are one.”

I really enjoyed this book. An adventure through time, some historical romance, and a bit of book nerd, this reminded me of ‘Outlander’. This is definitely a page-turner, and I loved the plot and characters. Although the beginning was a little narrative-heavy, the story picks up and I really enjoyed the dialogue and the writing style hooked me in. This is a well-written book with lots of heart and warmth. I can’t wait for the next book.

I have not read any of the other novels by Shannon Nemechek, but I will say she outdid herself with “The Traveler: Chimera Rebellion”! It was an awesome read. It was very easy to fall into the story, and to be transported back in time to the Civil War, just as Katie was. You fall in love as she falls in love, and it will spellbind you as the magic is released. It based on historical fact, but as it as meant for entertainment purposes only, it was one of the best contemporary historical fiction novels I’ve ever read! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

5 Stars

I’m a HUGE fan of time travel novels that include romance… There’s a huge series out there with books that are like super long and I have that whole series in paperback and have read it 3 times …This is why I was a bit worried when I saw this book, I was afraid I’d be too critical or it wouldn’t live up to what I had in my mind as far as expectations for the time travel genre…

One of the main reasons I chose to read this is the author..I love Shannon Nemechek and have read a few of her books but let me just say that this is by far my favorite of hers so far. She did an AMAZING job with this story and actually had me completely invested within the first few pages and I found that I didn’t compare or criticize at all.. I actually did not want it to end. How this story unfolded and how Katie and Colm came together while Katie learned of so many things about herself and her own past, I just can’t say enough about this story!

This was full of everything I love about reading…The way everything was written made it almost seem real and even possible.. I’m not going into specifics of the story…I say read it, you will not be sorry..I can not wait for the next in this series. That ending … oh my!!

I will absolutely be rereading this right before the second book releases and I already can’t wait 🙂

Well Done!!

I was unsure what I would find within these pages. But certainly I was unprepared for the emotional journey I would embark on these words. Emotional, and powerful, the book was a rollercoaster for me. I wasn’t sure how the story would unfold but found the plot fascinating and the characters very interesting. Given that this is a true story, I was intrigued to follow the plot to conclusion. I really enjoyed this book.

Renegade (The Mercenaries Series Book 1) by Raven White – Review by Shani Kenny

Renegade (The Mercenaries #1)Renegade by Raven White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eliza is a woman who knows what she wants. Right now, what she wants is to be able to fulfill her life’s dream of being a successful musician. She’s worked hard for the chance she’s been given to be in a band that is making a name for themselves and she’s beyond excited that she’s headed out on tour for the first time. What she doesn’t want is to wake up one day at the hospital to find out she’s survived a brutal attack where she was left for dead. What she really wants then is to heal and move on. But when Renegade becomes part of her protection detail, she learns quickly that getting what she wants isn’t going to be that easy.

Renegade is a man who knows what he wants as well. He’s served his country in many ways, and he wants to continue his career protecting those who need it most. When he’s called in on a favor, he never expects what he gets. His protection detail this time is a feisty woman who challenges his every move and sometimes his sanity. But when she lets go, he finds that maybe what he wants can change.

This was such a fun, steamy, entertaining quick novella! I loved the fact that they are such opposites. Renegade is used to being more stealthy and in the shadows, whereas Eliza is flashier and likes the stage lights. They’re both extremely hard-headed with huge hearts to match. Their love story was well written and sweet. I’m really intrigued by the supporting characters too and am interested in seeing where this goes next!

Forbidden Love; Written by Lisa Jones Gentry, As Told by Joe Steele was a very deep read. I give this book a four out of five stars. I found the time period captivating and the struggles very present. I was drawn in on pure emotion and struggled to keep it together through some parts. The point of view was unique and definitely adds an element to the story. The religion is there but I was more captivated by the characters, their lives, and the time period. I am not overly religious I knew just enough to understand the drama that was present when picking this book up.

The Traveler:Chimera Rebellion is the first book in The Book of Eleanor by Shannon Nemechek and what a first book it was. Shannon Nemechek is a new author to me and I will be seeking out her books in the future. This story has all the great elements for a great book. To be honest it was the cover that drew me to the book. On the other hand, it was the plot line and characters that keep me glued to my kindle. Nemechek writes about Kate and Colm who meet by chance. Kate loves books and when the book is rare, she makes it her mission to find it. This rare book that she found takes her back in history, and lands her in the middle of a war zone. Enter in Colm, who is a soldier who just so happens hates slavery. When his parents passed on, he inherited his family plantation. He is off to make a lot of changes and that is when Kate enters the picture. Colm and Kate have different backgrounds. Will Colm trust Kate? Will Kate find her book? What does the future hold for Colm and Kate? You will have to read this book to figure out those questions. I cannot wait for book 2 to come out. So for now enjoy book one.

They went against everything society told them was acceptable to be together, and a decade later they had their son Joe. Joe was adopted by a loving family as an infant but wanted to began his journey to learning about his birth parents, his first meeting with his mother was beside her hospital bed in intensive care. Sophie, his birth mother then told him all about her relationship with his father and the obstacles they had to overcome and how they made it work. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forbidden Love was a departure for sure from most novels I choose to read. However, identifying as Catholic I find myself drawn to stories that pertain to the faith. This book is the beautiful and heart-wrenching story of a priest and nun who find love with each other when they are supposed to be vowing their love to God. It of course goes against their very beliefs but sometimes love is stronger than anything else. It isn’t an easy road and the story is told from the point of view of the couples son. He shares the dark and nitty gritty details with no holds barred. I would give it a go if you find yourself loving forbidden romance with a realistic twist. Overall this was a solid four star read for me.

5 Stars

I struggled between 4 & 5 stars on this book…This is my first read by this author and I completely enjoyed it. I went with 5 stars because I was totally hooked on the story and how it was told and I did not want to put it down until I finished.

It was definitely predictable and I figured it out early on so there was really no twist for me as the clues were quite obvious. The only thing that kept nagging at me was the blizzard, her outside covered in snow and finding the truck key in her hand, this was never addressed, and kind of threw me off, but what had me most invested was the interaction between all the characters and the build up of what is ahead in the books to follow. I love this group of people and can’t wait to get each of their stories.

It was a quick and super simple read and there were plenty of scenes that had me blushing and I do recommend reading it because there is a ton of potential for an awesome series ahead.

Really enjoyed it!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Traveler: Chimera Rebellion is the first book in The Book of Eleanor Series by Shannon Nemechek. It is a time travel fantasy- with magic, mystery, witches, history, war, love, suspense, drama, action and adventure. This has the feel of “Outlander”, but with a flavour all its own. I really enjoyed this first book and am looking forward to continuing with the rest of the series.
Katie Butler is a Major in the US Army- and she has no idea that her love of old books will catapult her on an adventure through time- and to a date with destiny. While on leave, Katie hears of a rare book which piques her curiosity and she is determined to track it down. This leads to her to being swept back in time- and smack bang into the middle of a war- crossing paths with Captain Colm O’Donnell. This twist of fate will be revealing in more ways than one. Will she find a way back ‘home’, or will fate intervene?
This is a fast-paced story that’s full of intrigue, excitement, surprises, and some suspense- which kept me hooked, and flipping pages to discover what would happen next.
The characters are fantastic, they are really well crafted into fully realised individuals who have a great connection and chemistry.
I loved the time travel aspect to the story, it was quite cleverly done. The story is detailed and very descriptive- so wonderfully woven with rich and vivid historical elements.
This book is such a great way to start the series- I can’t wait to read the next book!

Thank you, Ms. Nemechek!!

The story Renegade (The Mercenaries Series Book 1) by Raven White is a wonderful book to read. I loved the storyline and the characters. It is a book that has both suspense and romance. I really loved the character of Eliza McKay. She is strong, independent, intelligent, and a wonderful singer. She was been attacked and her brother, Sparrow, has called on the services of Sam “Renegade” McGill to keep her safe. Renegade is a man that takes his job seriously and has a comradery with those he works with. He also finds himself very attracted to Eliza. He, however, knows that she is off-limits. Eliza also feels the attraction to Renegade. Will they act on their attraction for each other? Will the one that attacked Eliza be caught? What does the future hold for Eliza and Renegade? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has romantic moments that make the temperature in the room rise. The story also had me wondering what was going to happen next and if the attacker was going to be caught. I also enjoyed reading about Sparrow. He is protective of Eliza and will do anything to keep her safe. This is the first book in a series, and I can’t wait to read the next story. Don’t miss out on a book that you won’t want to put down until you have finished the last page. I highly recommend reading it.

It is well written and keeps you glued to the pages. I enjoyed the characters and the worlds that Shannon has created. The story is along the same lines as Outlander, which I truly love. There is magic and witches, time travel and wars death and love.

Summmer Break: A Joe Football Novella by Autumn Sand got me so pumped about the next book in this series. We get a quick update with Favor, Brice, Jana, Wayne and Cal and what an update it is.

Everyone is on summer break and heading to New York on a roadtrip. Everything started out the way everyone expected but things changed quickly.

It was so nice getting caught up with everyone and get a sneak peak on what the story line for the next book is.

The story flew by, wish it had been a little longer only because I like this group a lot.
