For me, there is nothing better than an angsty romance, and Battling Beckett gave me exactly what I was looking for, far exceeding my expectations.

Greer is so far from the life she has known. Her mother has just become engaged to a very, very rich man, and now finds herself living in a mansion with none other than her soon-to-be stepbrother, Beckett Dawson. Needless to say, these two are complete opposites. He is the ruler of his private school and the center of everyone’s attention. Greer, on the other hand, tries to blend into the background, just trying to make it through the next nine months until she leaves for college. Beckett has made it very apparent, she and her mother are not welcome. Yet, he feels this pull towards her that he has never experienced before, which makes him even more frustrated and angry. He makes it his plan to break Greer so she will eventually show her true colors, but it may be Greer that breaks Beckett.

As I noted before, the story itself is fantastic, keeping my attention throughout the book. The characters, even the secondary ones, were people I felt invested in. Greer comes across as a timid heroine, but as the book unfolds, she becomes more confident and is determined to not let people walk all over her. I have to say I wasn’t a big fan of Beckett in the beginning. I thought he was going to be your normal, entitled jerk, but he really wasn’t. I could understand his motivation, to protect his father. He revealed his true colors as a guy who passionately protects those he loves.

In older reviews, some have mentioned that the book needed a good proofreader and editor. For those of you who are hesitant to read this one because of that reason, it has been re-edited, and I saw no major editing or proofreading mistakes.

If you are looking for a good story with great characters, you should give Battling Beckett a try! You won’t be disappointed.

I liked the forbidden love between Raven and Romano. This book kept me interested as I followed the journey the natural enemies took as they learned to trust each other, and have it bloom into something more, while they find their way out of danger. It was a great read! I definitely recommend!

Greer is starting her senior year at a new school and in a new house, well mansion is a better description. Her and her mom have moved in with her mom’s wealthy fiancé and his son. Beckett seems determined to make Greer’s life more difficult. All she wants is to fly under the radar for the next 9 months, but Beckett runs hot and cold. It doesn’t help that despite the fact he is a jerk to her she finds herself increasingly attracted to him. Can they survive their senior year? Will the attraction win? I really enjoyed this book. It was a little of a slow start but definitely picked up.

This was a good book and I did like the characters. Of course at the beginning I didn’t like Beckett as a character due to the cocky attitude. Greer was someone that I felt like I could be friends with. She was sacrificing her happiness so that her mom could find her happily ever after. Leaving your childhood friends behind and being the new person at a new school isn’t easy. Especially when you go from being a nobody to being the center of attention. Beckett has been taught from an early age that there are people out there that would use him for his money. He thought that Greer and her mother were gold diggers and felt that he needed to look out for his father. Greer and her mother had been on their own for years and weren’t used to having a man in their lives that wanted to take care of them. They both worked hard for what they had and they were determined to remain independent. What would you do if you were threatened with being cut off from money and having to earn your own? Beckett does the only thing he knows will keep him on his dad’s good side, keep an eye out for Greer. While trying to catch Greer in any kind of lie Beckett ends up falling in love with her. Has he done too much damage though? Will Greer be able to look past all the hurt he caused in the beginning and give them a chance at happiness?

When this book fell into my lap I was a bit hesitant to read it as I had no idea if it would be wise to read the third book in the series first, but this book was great as a standalone novel. I definitely want to go back and read the other two books in the series, as there were connecting details to them that I would love to get more insight on.

The book was the perfect romantic mystery for me! I fell in love right from the start. The characters were also easy to fall in love with, both Rafael and Ellie had amazing chemistry throughout. They had definitely grown on me by the end of the novel. Can’t wait to read more by this author!

I thoroughly enjoyed Battling Beckett, despite it bringing back memories of high school. I was that girl in high school then guys were embarrassed to admit openly they have feelings for. Making the main female character very relatable. The author wrote an extremely strong female lead that went through some devastating situations. Yet she still got back up and didn’t let that stop her.
Greer is new to high society, and her future step-brother Beckett has no desire to make it easy for her. She doesn’t fit in. She’d rather be back at her public school, though she knows the private school can open doors for her. Unfortunately she also has to deal with Beckett. She has no idea what his deal is, but she knows he’s always watching her.
Beckett, is how could my dad do this to me. Bringing home a woman and her daughter that’s just out for his family’s money. (That hit close to home too! Being accused of being something you’re not, especially when it comes to money.) And despite knowing all that Beckett can’t take his eyes off of Greer. His inner battles of attraction shouldn’t be happening. Least that’s how he sees it.
The growth between these two characters is a blessing in disguise. They both have trials and tribulations that they need to get passed.
Can they get past everything to be friends?
Can they get past it to potentially be more?
What happens when Greer ends up in a life threatening situation?
I’ve read this author before and I really enjoy sports romances. Just because this is a high school sports romance, anyone can read it. It has very real issues that are present in life everyday. And I loved how the author brings them to light throughout. Kids are cruel, Teens are worse, and Adults are the worst. People don’t realize how what one does or says can impact another person’s life no matter what age.
Overcoming those things are how we define ourselves.

If I could give this story more stars I would… one of my favorite audio listens ever….This story is so incredibly beautiful between two people whom find each other in unexpected ways.

Bea Lockhart is shunned by her own family after an accident left Bea with a scar on her face….feeling like no one will love her she is hiding in the shadows of helping run her fathers business. Bea finds herself in a small town in Texas where she runs her own business, makes new friends who welcome her unconditionally and here she find Luc….her love. After a betrayal that led Luc to Texas to get away from his grandfather and an arranged marriage..Luc is a hardworking blacksmith and finds love and friendship with Bea. Will Bea and Luc find an everlasting love when the past comes to Texas and tries to destroy everything?

This story is beautiful and well written. I was totally into the narration from beginning to end. If you love a story with love and betrayal, I would highly recommend this listen….the narrator was fantastic as well and really brought the story to light. One of my favorite listens

Romano finds himself on the “questionable loyalty” list with the Consulate of vampires. Tasked with finding where the traitor has escaped to and dealing with the local witches in his territory, he finds himself intrigued with Raven- the niece of their biggest witch rival. When Raven’s sister and aunt are taken from the local bar and Romano sees Raven being drugged and dragged off too, he steps in and saves her. Once she recovers, they work together to find the last of her family. However, the distrust runs deep with her aunt and instead of being grateful, she becomes even more hostile. As things heat up, the traitor’s location becomes known, and in capturing the traitor, Raven is painted as the instigator. Romano has to scramble to clear her name before his boss calls for her death. Will they be able to clear her name? Can they find a way to bridge the gap between the witch and vampire community before all is lost? Or are they always destined to be enemies?

I like that the author veered away from the female being cut down and having to be changed to save her life. Raven is a young witch that just wants to have fun and is thrust into her power rather quickly. I liked that she is equal to Romano in power and surprises him with some of her tricks, too. This book ended in a big cliffhanger, and I am anxiously awaiting the last installment to tie all the things together!

breaking and entering into her house… When he returns to find out more about her, he stumbles upon her family being slaughtered. As she lies dying in his arms, her brother- who happens to be one of his mortal enemies- gives Trentino permission to do anything that could save her life; even though they have been raised to hate and fear vampires. When Angel wakes up “changed”, she struggles to make sense of what exactly happened, and how to reconcile all that she’s been taught about vampires. She’s pleasantly surprised that her previous ability to communicate with the dead has greatly increased. With the vampires in the middle of ferreting out a traitor in their midst, she finds her new abilities tested and pushed to the extreme. Can she come to terms with her new life in time to help Trentino find the traitor? Can she protect her heart from someone she was raised to fear?

I found this to be a different twist on how the previous books transitioned their ladies. I liked that Angel had to struggle a bit before she could come to terms with her family’s position on vampires and her brother knowingly giving permission for her to be changed. The depth of love for another was well written. The overall plot of the series is moving forward quickly. I was definitely surprised by who the traitor ends up being. I did NOT see it coming.

When reading this there is a clear message to the reader that this is a friends-to-lovers trope. So there is no mistaking it based on the previous books and the character story you see briefly in and out of the others in the series. I am a huge fan of this trope, and Kate did not disappoint. The characters were hard not to love and root for. Everything is pointing for them to be together. Between Rafe’s guilt and twisted past, and Ellie’s fragile but stubborn pride, it is clear they will both have to come together. When they do…whew lots of sexy-smexy time and dirty talk! Throw in the other characters and a brief glimpse of their story and a never-ending ride of up and down with these two and you can’t help but love this book.

Kate tells the tale of Rafe and Ellie who fall in love despite their circumstances. Ellie is fragile and sweet, she can hold her own and definitely stubborn and independent. She has fallen so deeply in love with Rafe, but he is older and her older brother’s friend. Very taboo, but she still cannot manage to stay away. Her parents dying has given her a reality check on many things, but rebuilding the friendship with Rafe has made her realize things about herself and the love she feels for Rafe.

Rafe, broken and “cursed” according to him, has no intention of being anything other than friends with Ellie, despite being friends with her brother. He knows he is bad for her, and yet is drawn to her flirtatious nature and independent stubborn will. Through flirty banter and sweet gentleness and Rafe’s ever-present strength and protectiveness over Ellie, I quickly got carried away with this story. This is my first time reading any of this Author’s books. I will tell you it won’t be the last. definitely recommend it to others.

Police officer Kylee Parker and drug dealer Jayson Donovan meet each other in an alley. Busted!
Then you find out they know each other from high school – crushing on each other then.
Their growing up years took them both into different adult paths. Kylee grew up in a traditional family with lots of support and love. Jayson was in the opposite situation… abuse and struggle.
After their encounter in the alley, they realize their feelings for each other still exist. But as you can see, their jobs and differing morals may cause some issue with pursuing the relationship.
This story is told from different points of view and goes back in forth in time – past to present. The characters are well developed and the story line is good. I gave it a three only because romance isn’t my go to genre. But don’t let that stop you from reading it – you will enjoy this book!

Oh how I wished I read the previous books ! I didn’t really feel lost but I so enjoyed this read that I feel like I robbed myself of the previous 2 so don’t have the same regrets I do and read them first ❣️📕

Ellie and Raf have known each for some time and he’s been her secret crush for like forever ❣️it’s mutual but the neither knows it and Raf also feels like he’s got to be loyal to the bro code as Ellie’s his friend’s younger sister …… there’s also a history that haunts Raf that makes him feel like he’s not good enough but what happened never was his fault …..

Eventually Ellie and Raf give in and stop fighting inevitable and how beautiful to watch their story unfold ❣️there were a few tense moments , some spice and all things nice 😉

Our fisherman and jeweller make a beautiful couple ❣️

Beulah and Luke come together in a beautiful love story of two people with issues. They have both been hurt and have come to a small town in Texas, to try again. Beulah is a strong woman with lots of determination. Because she has a physical scar on her face, she tends to stay in the background. I do love how Luke makes her feel and helps her remember that she is a woman. Watching their relationship develop and grow is a treasure and truly makes this story a treat to listen to. The narration is pleasant but could stand a little more emotion and variation to it. Overall, I would recommend this story. This author has wonderful writing. Whether just the book or the added narration to it, the stories are always wonderful. You get an honest and realist feel to the story. Always engaging and keeping you wanting more.

While Kylee and her are on the job they come across a drug deal and Kylee goes after the “perp” only to discover it’s her bad boy high school crush 😉

Kylee and JD came from different worlds while Kylee grew up in a living and kind home JD grew up in an abusive and alcoholic home but her folks reached out to him and shows him a kindness he’ll never forget ….

Jayson gets off on his charges and is ready to pick up where he left off and I’ve got to give it hom the man is persistent, it does pay off though 🥰 and that’s how it all begins ….

There was so much to love about this book like how her parents are so kind and compassionate towards JD as a child and as a man , how our big bad drug dealer cares for his mum , how he woos her with pit plants ….

There was so much to cry about … the abuse they had to endure and then Amelia takes over where her father left off …

Jayson (JD) is not all he seems and don’t be angry with some of his decisions, his heart is in the right place ❣️

He returns a few years later and discovers a little piece of him had stayed behind when he left and my heart aches for him and his little family for all the time they’ve missed out on but they’re getting their second chance at love and life ❣️

There were so many boxes ticked , I laughed ,I cried , I cheered and there were some nail biting and tense moments be prepared for a few unexpected twists and turns as well .

Will and Harper came together by way of classic cars. He’s a self-made man and she is raising her brother, who has special needs from a car accident. Will is harboring a secret that he almost lost his life in a car accident also. Both have sworn to never let anyone hurt them again, but the sparks of this romance have ignited something with this meeting. This romance is real, sweet, and full of compassion. Harper’s brother is written so sweet. We see Harper come to realize that her brother is growing up and with help from others can have a life of his own. The tone of the story is wonderful. The characters are beautiful. They are so relatable. I found the storyline so pleasant. It was a terrific romance that a romance reader will love. The narrator had a perfect voice for this. Her intonations were fantastic and helped add to the story and make it even better to listen to. I recommend this audiobook.

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Sports Romance

I had to force myself to only read so much a day so I would do things like work, talk to my family instead of reading every free moment.  I’m too old for the young adult drama, but there is something about this author and her writing that make me want to forget everything and binge read.

There were so many things I liked and just as many that frustrated me. Most of those center around Beckett.

Greer learned a lot about people she thought were her friends and people she thought she should watch out for.

I overall enjoyed the book and look forward to the next book by this author.

When Greer and her mother move in to the Dawson home, she is not understanding the animosity she is getting from Beckett (her soon to be step-brother). He’s hot and cold…wants nothing to do with her but doesn’t want anyone else to have her…and he doesn’t trust her. When she starts at the elite private school, she is immediately the center of attention (which she hates). She has also garnered the attention of someone who wants her nowhere near Beckett. Just when Greer thinks that things are starting to ease up…and maybe her and Beckett are on the same page…she overhears a conversation that breaks her heart and pushes her right into the arms of the person who is out to hurt her. Can she ever trust anything that comes out of Beckett’s mouth? Or should she just bide her time and keep the peace until she leaves for college?

This was a good story that I found myself immersed in from the beginning. I can understand Beckett’s wariness…but even when his eyes were opened after speaking with his father, he still held onto the notion that Greer was not the person she portrayed. I wanted to smack some sense into him! I was rooting for them…but I could understand Greer’s reservations and applauded her standing her ground and standing up for herself. Overall, a good read!

So paranormal romances are sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I enjoyed how this was a new take on the paranormal romance trope that intrigues me from the synapse of the book. Add in to that some action and adventure this is the beautiful start to a new series by Ms. Morgan.

I loved Levi as the elemental fire warrior whose main mission is to protect the human realm from supernatural threats. That is until inadvertently meeting Brooke when he saves her life, pulling her from an apartment fire. As they keep running into each other the fire burns hotter in Levi, and something begins to awaken in Brooke that gets her attention from the Chaolt. Will Levi be enough to save Brooke from the Chaolt? Can Brooke figure out this new power awakening within her and discover why she has been thrust into a supernatural war?

This book definitely has a very slow start, but with this being a new series and requiring necessary world building for the reader it is semi expected. If you can get past all the needed details to build up the storyline this is definitely an action filled romance novel that may make you feel unnecessarily heated. Definitely a must read if you want a paranormal romance that is different from the rest. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series and am excited to follow along.

I felt like there were a couple of inquiries on occasion and the story piece surged however in spite of this I truly partook in the story. I love Kate’s composing style. Wow this book was a particularly incredible and a superb story! This book encompassed Ellie who is a retailer who buckles down for her cash selling products that she makes and who really likes her sibling’s closest companion, Raf.

Will, one of the maverick billionaires, accepts the request to come view his car collection from an exuberant young man, Jeremy. He didn’t expect, Harper, Jeremy’s sister, to instantly catch his eye. Harper can’t help her attraction to Will but is afraid to let it grow due to his play boy attitude and her need to take care of her brother. This is a book that shows we all deserve love even when our past says otherwise. I enjoyed watching the growth in Will, Harper, and even Jeremy.

This was a quick romantic read – full length book but an easy read with a happy ending. It is quick to reach the “I love you”s, but with high school aged kids I think that is pretty normal with hormones running high and everything being new and overwhelming. In the beginning, Beckett is your typical bully, most popular guy in school, athletic and the one everyone wants to be associated with. Greer is the new girl in town (and school) in her senior year of high school. The problem is, Greer is Beckett’s new favorite target, and worse than not being able to just keep her distance at school, she lives in his house!

Greer’s mom and Beckett’s dad are dating. After being together for a short time, they decide for she and Greer to move in with he and Beckett. Beckett is (justifiably) angry and tries to prove they are just gold diggers, not really there because there are feelings involved. However, when Greer is targeted by others, Beckett comes to her defense. From there, it follows along their budding relationship. Overall, an enjoyable read.

Two people with intense esteem issues. He rescues and she needs rescuing from dirtbags like her husband and her family. The tension, the drama and the story all come together. This author writes a fantastic story that grabs you whether its by book or audio. These two narrators do an incredible job of bringing it all together in a way to make it even more real and original. The power just comes off in droves. I love this audio.

Kylee and Jayson come from two very different ways of life. Kylee comes from a large supportive family and Jayson comes from a life of abuse and abandonment. Kylee had a huge crush on Jayson when they were in high school but he totally broke her heart when he stood her up. The next time she sees him, Kylee’s taking him down during a drug bust.

Can their differences bring them together or are they just an explosive bomb waiting to detonate?

This book was very enjoyable! There were a few times that the writing seemed just a bit wonky but the overall story made up for it in every way. There were several unexpected twists and turns, which I always enjoy when reading a book! I found myself rooting for all the right things towards the end and I was not disappointed in this book!

A Love Restrained is a romantic suspense surrounding the lives of Kylee, a Philadelphia police officer, and Jayson, a man on the wrong side of the law and the boy she had a childhood crush on. Although the two are on opposing sides, the attraction and need for each other overtakes them and love begins to bloom. Both battling their own demons, we are taken along their journey as secrets unfold and challenges are met.
This author is fabulous at weaving a suspenseful tale and keeping us engaged with twists and turns. I loved how I was debating the outcome even towards the end of the story. The characters were well written and had great development. The author does jump between third and first POV so it began slow for me, but by part two I was immersed and couldn’t put it down.

I absolutely love Ellie and Raf! I was completely entranced by their story from the very start. This book had so many twists and turns and unexpected moments. Everything they went through to find their way to each other felt so realistic. I cannot wait to read more of this series, especially if they are anywhere near as good as this book was!

Wooowza Author Sylvia Black is amazing. Always keeps you guessing, everytime you think she’s gonna zig she zags. The Masters of the Consulate books have everything you’re looking for when it comes to the supernatural, Witches, Vampire, Shifters etc.Since I started on this one, I’m definitely going to go back to read books 1-3 before the 5th book comes out in October.My only problem is that I should have started this series sooner 🤣🥰. I’m looking forward to reading the other characters’ stories.

Being the daughter of a legend has its pitfalls. She just wants a chance to show her talents to the world she has grown up in. She just has to show she has what it takes to be seen in what has been a male dominated arena. But do read the books in order. Can she show she is more than her father’s legendary ways?

Brooke has given her readers another intriguing and interesting read that is easily read as a standalone as is most of this series. I always enjoy the worlds and characters that she brings to the table and it is the latter that always brings the story to life.

If you love a good romance story with the dangers of a competitive sport then you will like this one.

This was a new author for me to read and enjoy, certainly I know for a fact now, I will be looking forward to reading more by this author! The writing style was easy to read, and very light and refreshing!

I loved this story, it was a light hearted read, yes, but there was so much to it. Of course I will read anything under romance, throw in animals, and you know I am sold completely. I loved the author did a good blend as if making a good smoothie, you had romance moments, stressful moments, and moments where you did not know where the characters would end up as you turned the pages. The story and intrigue, and moments where you HAD to know what would happen next after the events. I very much enjoyed the author’s writing style and the story and characters they created. Look forward to reading more!

Wonderful read. I felt it was refreshing, like the smell outside after it rained. Definitely a read worth reading. Highly recommend this book as well as the author. Both are a must read Author has gained a new fan!
