An engaging, suspenseful novel that I would highly recommend! Lied to her entire life Selena Hernandez’s world has just been turned upside down. When she arrives in Mexico she learns about her birth father and how important he is in Mexico. A book that shouldn’t be put down till the very end.
Illegal by K.J. Gillenwater is a heart-pounding, riveting read! Once I started reading, it was impossible to put down.
Selena finds herself alone in Mexico, the country she was born in but doesn’t remember living in. She grew up in Arizona, thinking she was an American citizen. That was just one lie her mother told her. Her goal is to do what she needs to do to get back to her life in the US. Little does she realize that everything she knew about her life was a complete lie which puts her life in grave danger. Thankfully, a chance encounter with handsome stranger, Wyatt, saves her life in one instant. Now, they both are in a fight for their very lives, thus putting them on a journey of not only survival but truth and quite possibly love!
Wow! As I wrote in the earlier paragraph what a riveting read! Gillenwater did a phenomenal job of balancing romance, suspense, and drama! My heart went out to Selena. Everything she thought she knew about her life was a complete lie. I’m not a reviewer who likes to bring politics into reviews because I read books to escape things in the news, but this one really made me think alot about the children who have been essentially raised in the US and know nothing about their birth country and suddenly finding themselves facing deportation. It was obvious she was a foreigner in Mexico too. As the author wrote the following passage, my heart just broke for her.
“Or was she American? What exactly made someone American anyway? A look? An experience? A certain length of time living in the US? These questions had been ping-ponging around in her mind for a couple of weeks, and she had no answer?”
Not only was this a journey in discovering who she really was, but now she had no idea who the strangers were who were after her, and whoa, when she discovered who she really was, what a shocker for her!
Wyatt has quite a dark past himself…a dark childhood, and he is learning some things about himself as well in his quest to keep her safe all while falling helplessly and hopelessly in love with her.
There was nothing I didn’t like about Selena and Wyatt’s story! They were complicated and complex characters who just kept growing and evolving. The suspense and twists kept me turning the pages as well! If you are looking for a great romantic suspense with some great human lessons within the pages as well, this one is a winner!
Kendall is in the city for work and her brother sets her up to stay with his friend Pete while she’s in town, whom she’s had a crush on forever. Pete is a pro baseball player not expecting anything but the awkward little sister coming to stay. Now, he wants nothing more than to break bro code and jump into bed with this sexy, smart and confident woman in his house. They agree to a casual fling while in town but both quickly realize they want more don’t won’t admit it to themselves or the other. Very steamy read with a good story line.

What an amazing fast paced sports style romance, throw in an out of bounds relationship (brothers best friend) and it brings a twist to the story. I found this an engrossing and relatively quick read (this means I did have a book hangover the day after starting it, as it is hard to put down). We follow Kendall and her teenage crush Pete who is also her brothers’ best friend and team mate. Can she work her feelings out of her system whilst staying with him? Can Pete manage to keep his emotions out of the mix and continue to have a close working relationship with Kendalls’ brother Ryan. Kendall follows her feelings and after her job has finished she moves home, but has not manged to get Pete out of her system. We follow their relationship as it builds and blossoms until her brother finds out. Fast paced and the characters grow into likeable images and you just wish them a happy ever after.

This would have to be one of my favorite books at the moment! Sadly, I was not able to read the first book in the series but I’m So Thankful that I was able to read this book without having to read the first one. It’s a standalone. It’s a smart and sexy best friend sister sports romance. She (Kendall Graves) is off-limits, but this pro-baller (Pete Saunders) has never been one to follow rules. Kendall has always been in love with her brother’s friend for as long as she can remember. She has always just been his buddy’s annoying little sister. Until here recently. When a professional baseball player agrees to let her stay with him while she’s in town, it never occurred to him she’d tempt him to break bro-code. Rule number 1- don’t touch your friend/teammate’s sister. Rule number 2- see rule number 1. I highly recommend this book to anyone love loves reading sports romance. I’m excited to see what the author has instore in the coming future.

Sera Dwari is an amazing chemist, she is about to revolutionize the drug industry with her creation, Devil’s Breath. She is also an assassin., Sera is tasked with killing billionaire Cassius Batista. Cassius knows there is something off with Sera, no one is this perfect. They fall for each other and Sera must choose between family and love. I loved the premise not the execution, I wanted more. I wanted more of the drug world side of things, I felt it was introduced then put to the side. I would have also loved more physical connection between Cassius and Sera but the emotional connection was intense. The book was well written and the characters did come to life I would recommend this.

Wow where to start with this book. It is definately a story that you start and completely lose yourself and time flys by. The author does an amazing job with the characters and this story has a mixture to suit everyone. From action and danger to romance and emotions that the reader feels every step of the way.
Sera is a trained assasian who always gets what she wants. She is also amazing with chemicals and she creates a drug called Devil’s Breath which is set to hit the streets and become the next big thing. From the outside she seems every bit the cold hearted assassin that cares about no one or nothing.
Then we have Cassius. Cassius is the rich business man who is funding (unknowingly) the front for the company to make Devil’s Breath. But because of that he is on Sera’s radar and now they just don’t want him to fund the company they want his entire fortune which means he needs to go.
But there’s one snag that Sera didn’t see coming. How is she supposed to kill someone she has fallen for? Will the connection and feelings between them be enough to save Cassius? Or will the appeal of his money be worth more to Sera than a man to love and who loves her in return?

Once again, I was hooked from the beginning. I found myself lost in this book. The character detail is so amazing. The author knows how to get your attention and keep you wanting more. I have read a couple books from the series, but this one was my favorite. I highly recommend this book and series.

Collateral Damage is a great addition to the Mafia Elite series. This sixth book tells us the story of Trey and Hailey. Hailey is a down to earth girl in a rich girl world. She doesn’t fit in and since losing her sister and dad in a car accident, she has struggled to find her place of acceptance. Trey is an ER doctor and also holds commitments to the Five Families as the mafia doc on call. He’s a busy man with no room for love until he reconnects with Hailey, his sister Sofia’s acquaintance. Trey steps into a kidnapping and ransom plot when Hailey’s stepdad, Allen, asks for his help in relocating her. Trey takes Hailey into his protection and in doing so changes the course of both their lives with an undeniable mutual attraction. This was a good addition and I like getting more storylines from the supporting family members in the Five Families. I love the family dynamic and the willingness to go the extra mile for those you love. I’ve read all the books in this series and I highly recommend them. They can be read as standalone books or start from the beginning. Great book, even better series!

Mafia bad boy with a hefty side of sweet & kindness. Trey is by far the kindest, most down to earth mafia man in the family. [IMO] That’s what stands out the most to me to start about this book. Then we have Hailey who is the bomb! She has the perfect combination of being super fierce, smart, brave, a side of bad@ss-ery, and being strong. Perfect match! They go through roller coasters and some situations but as always the family comes together and they handle what they need to. There was a few moments where I thought, oh I know how this is going to play out, and who is the real villain, but in the end I was pretty off. So you might think you know but you don’t! This book kept me on my toes, and had me counting down the minutes until I could continue reading it! (When I would be at work). Can’t wait for more!!

I’d previously heard wonderful things about this author’s work, and I’m thrilled I finally listened and chose one of their books. Little did I know that I would get hooked so quickly. It was so difficult to put this book down, so I just didn’t! Angelina is a young artist living with her best friend in the city just living her best life, despite her friend insisting that she put herself out there and find a man. Angelina has her own plans, and a relationship with just any guy is last thing on her mind. What is heavily on her mind is the steamy dreams she has been experiencing of two sexier than sin men. Her world gets quickly turned upside down when she is abducted by an evil demon. She is saved just in time by none other than the men from her dreams and her whole life changes forever at that point forward. This was a fun 5 star read. We learn right from the beginning just what kind of men Bree seems to be attracting. She once again strikes out and calls her best friend. Her friend encourages Bree to take tennis lessons and try to meet some other people. Bree has a brief encounter with a man while getting chinese takeout, great accent but he looked athletic, a hard no for her. When she goes to her tennis lesson, fate steps in and she sees the man again, Nate. She makes it very clear to Nate that she is not interested in dating him. She also meets Steven who seems to meet all of what she is looking for in a man. Has she finally found the one? Or is she pushing “the one” away?
Overall this was an enjoyable read, the characters were great. I really liked Bree and her best friend was a great secondary character. I quickly had a favorite between the two men and was hoping she picked him. The author does a great job with her writing, she pulls you right into the story. I was happy with the ending and I look forward to reading more from this author. 1- click and get started today on this great read.

Close to Perfect was a fun, fast paced read that really showed the trials and tribulations of the dating world. I really liked Bree as a main character and felt that above all else, she was relatable. Who hasn’t had “enough” bad experiences to swear they’re “never” doing that again? I really enjoyed the growth of Bree throughout the storyline and the way the author’s writing just flowed. While this is a part of a series, I thought it read really well as a standalone and I never had difficulty keeping up. I would definitely recommend this book, especially as the summer months are coming and everyone is looking for a good beach read!

I related to this story completely. Having a type of man that I date repeatedly, get hurt, and wonder what I am doing wrong. Bree decides to make a check list to date differently and find her happy ever after. Will that be enough? Will her true love be Nate? No, that can’t be, he is just like the others. Will her true love be Steven? He is different, but will he make her heart flutter? I felt all the emotions right along with Bree and rooted as she found the path to her HEA.

This was a cute story overall. My only qualm is that the Main character is revealed to be African American weirdly. Other than that I enjoyed the story. I loved feeling like I was on the journey with Bree. She’s a force of nature. Educated, in charge of her mind, body and beliefs. She’s a hard worker and she doesn’t settle for less than she deserves I appreciate that the characters were well rounded. Nate is a dream. He’s so patient and understanding. I felt he was genuine from their first encounter. With the couple navigating their differences and meeting a bit of resistance to their interracial relationship I thought the issues being brought up were realistic. The ending made me tear up a bit. I love happy endings. I highly recommend this book.

What a unique and interesting story. It was not at all what I expected when I started reading it but I found myself easily invested in what was happening. I thought the story was riveting – it was full of suspense and intrigue, the paranormal element just adding to that. The characters really fit with this style of story, adding to it in the best way possible. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was really taken with the writing style. It didn’t matter that this book were the second in the series the author still managed to get my attention. I will definitely be reading the first book and any more than come.

I just finished this novel, and boy oh boy, I have already purchased the first installment in this series and really appreciate her writing style and the methods in which she conveys the characters feelings and thoughts throughout. I have been switching through different genres as of late, and this one really did the trick when it came to my need for a suspenseful read. Avery very much has built all her walls up to not be hurt, or to not hurt others as there are a few things that come up that would certainly have her feeling like it was a necessity.
Enter Luys, who has had this insatiable need to get to know Avery since the moment he laid eyes on her. Lucky for him, he gets to play the protector and wants to keep her safe from everyone and anyone. As the twists and turns build, this gets impossibly more difficult, and Avery isn’t sure which way is up for most of this crazy maze of an adventure. There is a whole lot of suspense, a dash of romance, and a butt load of intrigue! I thoroughly enjoyed this read, trying to solve the mystery before the ending, and look forward to disappearing into more of her written work as soon as time allows. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book! Was able to finish in an afternoon. What happens when you swear off something? Usually you are then tempted with just that thing, thats where Bree finds herself.

Dwarf and Raven both have so much going on. Raven’s past is very emotional as is Dwarf’s and they end up finding love. Don’t let Dwarf’s name fool you… He may be small on the outside, but on the inside his heart makes up for his lack of height. Raven is emotionally distraught, haunted and looking for help, which she finds with Dwarf. This book has many twists and turns, BUT the budding love is worth it! I absolutely loved this book for so many reasons, I could not put it down to say the least! Full of action, suspense, and of course that seductive chemistry we all crave. The author knew exactly how to pull the reader in, and hold us there, the book was very well written, and hit all the right elemental keys!
I do love a good suspenseful book. This one certainly took the cake. I truly did admire Sera, she was a strong minded and an assassin you do not mess with. I seen a lot of character development with her, as the story went on. I didn’t think I could admire her more, but I did! I loved the chemistry with her and Cassius. Their chemistry was very much fireworks and seductive all at once. I loved this book, I was on the edge of my seat with how the book would turn out, with all its twists and turns. Stuck between two men dear to you, do you choose family over love? If you seek the answer I did, I suggest you read this book too! The book is more than a well wroth read! I freaking loved it from beginning to end!

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. The way she makes me dislike the main character Levi is unmatched. I disliked his whole entitled attitude and the way he thought he was God’s gift to women. His drunken womanizing ways was just icky. Then as the story evolves and Levi is made to grow up and become a REAL man, I start liking him. This book has some funny parts and some serious parts but the chemistry between Levi and Kindle is definitely there from the moment they meet. Good story, I will read her stuff again.

Wow just Wow! I loved everything about this book and this author knocked it out of the park again. I’ve read several books by her and she manages to up the level every single time. I never hesitate to pick up a book by her and it’s a guarantee I won’t be getting anything else done until I finish. I’m a huge fan of MC Romance and this author sold me on it several, several books ago her style of writing along with amazing characters some you fall in love with and some not so much.She grabs your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end and her characters are well developed and fun This one is just a bit different than the rest of her books but I l9ved it even more. This is about Dwarf and Raven, he’s not your typical member as he’s not had tall as the other members. Raven didn’t exactly have the best childhood growing up and theirs pasts aren’t the greatest Can these two be what the other needs to heal? You guus I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend reading this book and if you haven’t read any of the other MC by this author I recommend reading them as well . You wont regret it. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author and this new chapter.

This isn’t my first read by this author I have read a few of her books and she never disappoints me. This isn’t your usual MC book. The characters are amazing and well written. The plot OMG I loved it Ms. Mellett had m e laughing so much. The way Ms. Mellett description of the surrounding was awesome I could picture the cabin to the tee. Dwarf and Raven have their own ghosts to deal with and they move on and show how strong minded they are. They have overcome obstacles in their life. Raven is tormented when she goes back to the cabin she was brought up in. When her terror makes her flee in the middle of the night she runs into Dwarfs bike, he doesn’t believe her story there are no such thing as ghosts. Is there really a ghost in the cabin? Is someone trying to get rid of Raven? Can Dwarf help and save Raven? Will Dwarf and Raven finally allow love into their lives and get their Happily ever after?

This is such great romantic suspense novel that I couldn’t set it down once I picked it up! Selena suddenly has the rug pulled out from under her and finds herself in a dangerous world that she knows nothing about. Wyatt finds him self caught up in her drama and can’t help but get involved. I really enjoyed watching them grow closer as they struggled with different backgrounds and trust issues. There is so much action and suspense wrapped up in a budding romance that I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next!

Always second best, Dwarf is use to being left or passed over for the tall, more classically handsome guys in the club. Raven is haunted by a horrid past. After a chance meeting, will the two find their happily ever after?
This was the first book by Manda Mellet that I have read. I did not except anything but a good, typical MC story; however I was presently surprised by the slight paranormal vibe that I got. I found the whole story to be well written as well, so much so, that I actually couldn’t put it down and finished it all in one sitting. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. While I wait for the rest of the series, I will definitely be checking out other books by Mellet.

I enjoyed this book. Although, I have not read the rest of the series, I think it is easy to follow along without having the story from the other books. This was another book that I could not put down and finished in a day. “Squid: A rider who could use some training on his form and technique.” This is exactly the term to describe bachelor, Levi Crowe. He knows how to please the ladies but relationships, that is a whole new ballgame to this man. He has got everything he thinks he needs, fun times, friends, booze, and women that swarm around him. But he gets a rude awakening when Kindle enters the scene. She doesn’t want anything to do with this man, she has made it clear. So why can’t he get her out of his head? Levi goes through some challenges and some life changing events. He gets a stalker that he can’t seem to shake. He must excel at his career and change the way he looks at life. Will this be enough to land the girl of his dreams? Or will the life he knows come crashing down on him?
