Derek and Annabelle seemed like they were going to together forever. After her family was torn apart by divorce she left the pack and went on to become a well known and respected wildlife photographer. However, her father is dying and she must go back to help settle his affairs. She has a bunch of mixed emotions about returning and doesn’t know what to expect. How will she be received? Derek didn’t think he would see the love of his life again. He was left with no explanation and a broken heart. He had managed to move on with his life, but now that she’s back he won’t let her go. I have read a few other books by this author and enjoy her writing style. I look forward to seeing how the rest of this series plays out.

Resisting Nature (Powder River Pack Series) by Brooke May – Review by M Policicchio

Resisting NatureResisting Nature by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read a bunch of werewolf stuff. This was a different take on shifters and the shifter-verse. I liked how the young wolves shifted early, around 3 years of age. I was not a fan that only males were shifters. It made the shifter-hound storyline with Thea so easy. Of course even when there are she-wolves, there are those that try to latch on to high ranking wolves. Not the point, the point is that I was not a fan that only men got to be special.

Okay. So our story…..Alexa was seduced then abused by a werewolf. She escaped him after she found out she was pregnant. Alexa didn’t tell anyone that she was leaving or about the baby, except her parents who helped her run. Alexa had the baby and gave him up for adoption, hoping this would keep him safe if the ex found her. Alexa went to school and became a lawyer. She moved to Montana with her best friend to continue her new life.

Miles was just another male shifter living the life of freedom and women when he met Alexa. They had an instant connection. He knew she was his mate. Everyone could sense their connection. The only problem was that Miles had to tell Alexa that he was a werewolf, not knowing her history. When Alexa discovered Miles’ secret she walked away from Miles and their connection. She would not do it again. Alexa started seeing a therapist to help her work through her issues. The therapist encouraged Alexa to tell Miles about her past.

As Alexa is finally able to disclose to Miles her history, the ex re-emerges from shadows and takes Alexa. The ex knows about the baby and he wants his son. He takes Alexa to go get his child, with Miles chasing them to rescue Alexa. Alexa is crafty and manages to keep her and the child safe and even manages to escape from her ex. Miles makes it so Alexa will never be haunted by her ex again.

This story has many good points and a few bad. But overall, the good wins out and the story is delightful and at times, very fun. Excellent read.

What a fantastic story from an amazing author. I loved the storyline, how it flowed and the way the author brought everything to life for the reader so easily. The characters weaved right into my heart, especially Miles and Alexa and kept me turning page after page because I just had to know what was next for them. I 100% recommend reading not only this book but the entire series.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book two to this series and I must tell you that if you are not a fan of violence, dark romance, dubcon, mature langue, sensitive content, adult situations, jealous/possessive themes, and the such then this book is NOT for you! If you can get passed that type of content, then check this dark romance out! This also can’t be read as a stand alone. You need to read the first book to fully understand where this one starts and is heading. So Ava is a prisoner. Kidnapped and trapped by Kingston for her brother’s debt (2.6 million). Instead of selling her to the highest bidder he has decided to keep her. She belongs to Kingston now and she rebels at almost every turn. Which makes him want to punish her and break her into submission. She craves his touch just as much as he wants to touch her, but the hate is clear in their eyes. He will have her break so he can put her back together again. All while she tries to win his heart so she can escape. Both falling but both don’t see the danger rushing towards them. This is a book about a villain and his captive. He always gets his way. But will he this time? Such a great story. I wasn’t prepared when I read the first one, but once I started this one I knew what kind of content to expect.

I was not prepared for this book at all. With that being said, it was wonderfully done!! If you are not a fan of violence, dark romance, dubcon, mature langue, sensitive content, adult situations, jealous/possessive themes, and the such then this book is NOT for you! If you can get passed that type on content then check this out! You might really enjoy it. This book is all about the villain getting what he wants. Which was a great twist really! Kingston is a bully. He gets what he wants or he takes it by force. He protects what is his. He’s a business man kingpin. Ava is a sweet little lamb. So naïve and pure. Ava’s brother unfortunately owes Kingston money. A LOT of money. 2.6 million to be exact! Due to this he has Ava kidnapped and he plans on selling her to highest bidder, if her brother doesn’t pay up. He wants to break her and have her submit to everything he wants, but she’s got a wild-fire streak. He can’t wait to snuff it out while he takes her to new places she’s never even dreamt of. This is just book one to the story and man oh man is it steamy! You can’t help but love AND hate these characters for various reasons. You will want book two asap after reading this one. Trust me! I grabbed them both and can’t wait to read more!!

Resisting Nature is the fourth book in The Powder River Pack series by Brooke May. This is a wonderful paranormal romance, with shifters, werewolves, fated mates, mystery, angst, action, drama, chemistry, steamy developments, struggles, heartache, and emotion.
Alexa Hart’s past experience with love brought her nothing but pain- so she’s determined to protect her heart at all cost. That becomes increasingly difficult the moment Miles Fischer wanders into her life. She is drawn to him, and still she tries to fight it. Nature and fate have their own plans though. But, what happens when secrets are revealed? Can Miles still win her heart and convince her that they were fated to be together, and that that kind of forever-love is worth the risk. Well, this is well worth the read to find out.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Broke May!

Savage Lies (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Jayme Raffauf

Savage Lies (Hidden Valley Elite #1)Savage Lies by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading the prequel novella, I was very intrigued to read more about Riley and Cole. This series is a quick read and very interesting. I would strongly encourage reading the prequel (Savage Start) before reading this book. It will provide so many details and background information about the significance of the interactions between Riley and Cole, the dynamics between Cole, Damon and their dad, and the story of what happened to Cole’s mother. Isla Vaughn does a great job of developing the characters and all the quirks and nuances of a story about high school students. I really liked all the layers of the story – Riley and her mom; Cole, Damon and their father; Cole and Damon’s cousins and their need to work hard to earn football scholarships and how Cole and Damon can help them; the elite clique of boys and girls at girl; and the connection between Cole and Riley. This was a good read and I look forward to reading more in the series.

I was happy to see a new book by Brooke May was out and couldn’t wait to get it in my hot little hands. There is not one book that Brooke has written that I have not loved. I like that she writes several genres and always comes up with a good storyline but paranormal is my first love. Resisting Nature is a paranormal romance tale in the Powder River Pack series. Make sure you read them in order, or you are missing out on all this alpha goodness.
With fated mates and alpha shifters, werewolves, love, action, drama, passion, heartache, pain, hope, secrets, longing and more. This is my favourite book to date and love the characters that are a part of this world. They are interesting and well developed and it’s hard not to like them. There are also times where you find yourself laughing as well.
Alexa is trying to start over and move on from the mess that was her life. She wants a peaceful life, a good life only if the past stays in the past. Is l ready to let someone in? Could she truly be happy?
Miles has never been one to have control when he sees something he wants. S is more than something he wants she is his fated one. He will make sure all she sees is him. He finds the one thing that will make his life complete, but will she accept him or will her past keep them apart?
If you love paranormal romances, then you will need to grab a copy and enjoy.

A Heart So Savage is a continuation from book one in April Moran’s Savage Duet and should really be read second (in order). The first book ended on a cliff hanger so that A Heart So Savage could pick up where we left off. I was lucky to find this duet when both books had already been released so it was a very smooth read and I was invested immediately. I liked A Heart So Savage even more than book one, it was pulse racing and filled with a lot of entertainment, especially after the “introductions” were long out of the way. The characters are as dark and steamy as the storyline and April Moran writes dark romance well! I hope to read more in the future.

Renewed (Fateful Justice Book 6)Renewed by Sara Vinduska
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m such a sucker for cover art ! Loving this one and it was definitely judging a book by its cover in this instance for me and yay it was a good judgement 😉

When I read the dedication I already teared up and I just want to say thank you to Sara Vinduska for being vulnerable , for sharing a piece of her heart ❣️

Hayden is out checking the ranch perimeters when he’s shot , there’s a blizzard on the way and home is far away especially in his injured state thank goodness for Gunner his trustworthy horse that gets him to safety , one of the rental cabins …..

Ruby is on the run and is hiding in a remote place , she can hear , breathe and heal she can also think of her next move , she’s just made a fire to warm her rental cabin when she sees a horse and a man slumped over in his saddle …..

Despite her fear she brings him in , he’s bleeding and has been shot after all she can’t just leave him and there I know she’s a survivor because despite her fear of her past she doesn’t hide away she takes the bull by the horns , you go girl !

Ruby and Hayden find their rhythm while she’s nursing him and like Ruby I love his milk drinking ways 😉 Hayden realises she’s on the run and being confined they start sharing with each other and there’s an undeniable chemistry between then and Hayden is a saint in so many ways , he’s gentle , patient , kind and caring but he’s also protective and when her past comes knocking on the door , things get scary but Hayden and his family are there and Ruby is enveloped within their family …..

This was a read that my heart didn’t even know it needed and the cherry on top was my milk drinking cowboy 🤠 loved every page and Ruby deserves the peace that Hayden brings to her 🥰

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Savage Duet. It follows on from the first, so I would highly recommend reading the first prior to this one.

As with the first book, this is a dark romance which may not be suitable for readers who find violence and dominance triggering especially given how the relationship began in the first book.

I still love the characters of Kingston and Ava, Ava in particular. She remains strong despite everything which has been uncovered and what she has gone through. She knows who she is and stays true to herself.
She’s determined on revenge and the danger increases. Kingston grew on me even more in this book as he continues to try to protect Ava and get revenge for her.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this duet and will be looking out for more from this author!

This is another brilliant addition to this series and I think has to have the strongest characters so far. I really connected with them and I feel like they were so real and believable. Their connection to each other is so strong as well. It isn’t plain sailing for them either which I think made them more interesting to read about.
The story fit really well with the characters. It was an interesting story and I was pulled into it straight away. I always enjoy this authors writing style and her books never fail to entertain me. This series feels like it is going from strength to strength and I am looking forward to the next.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Savage Duet and oh my, I wasn’t expecting to get so engrossed so soon. I will point out that this romance does get very dark so I would not recommend this for everyone, there are definitely things which could be triggering to some e.g. abductor and violence.

The characters, Kingston and Ava, are strong and memorable. I enjoyed the background to their initial connections between Kingston and Ava’s family, I felt it fit in nicely with their relationship journey.
Ava was my favourite of the pair and I loved discovering how she was next going to be defiant. Given what she’d been through her strength was another element in her that I loved.

While I would not agree with how the romance played out if it was one of my loved ones, I 100% loved reading it and getting drawn into the characters.

I am so glad to have been able to move straight onto the next book, otherwise I’m not sure how I would have coped.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading for a while now. Her books are such that they are full of romance and her characters heat up the pages. I enjoy how she can pull you into the story with ease and keep my attention to the end. This book is no different. It is a well written story about Miles and Alexa. He thinks that he has finally found his mate until he loses her. She is afraid of who he is so she pushes him away. Miles is determined that Alexa is his mate and to change her mind about him. Will nature take its course or will her stubbornness will out? I enjoyed these two characters. They made the story easy to read and hard to put down. I enjoyed their chemistry and attraction. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout. This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. Will Miles and Alexia find a HEA? Are they mates? I highly recommend reading this book to find out.

This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. This is a dark romance story that may have some triggers for some but if you can get past those you will find a great story. This is a well written story where there is alot going on in which the author did a great job of keeping the story flowing. A story where a debt needs to be paid, a kingdom on the verge of take over and a captive that is determined to be broken. I enjoyed how the author used details to make this story come to life. It has a realistic feel and the characters pull you into their world. There is great chemistry and growth with the characters which made the story hard to put down. A fast paced, engaging story that I found easy to read. This is a story that you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

I found this book to be well written where the characters bring the story to life. They are connectable, strong characters that bring heat and romance to a new level. This is a dark romance that contains triggers for some but if you can get past them, you will find a great romance story. I enjoyed reading this book as much, if not more than the first. It is a fast paced, engaging and hard to put down book that kept me coming back for more. I enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the plot throughout the story. I highly recommend finding out how this story ends as you don’t want to miss it. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this story. Alexa is working through some prior issues from the past. Miles is learning about fated mates. Together they seem to somehow be making this work. the people around them seemed to be supportive. I am guilty of the little chuckle when you go to bed with a human and you wake up the next morning to literal dog breath. I love how this author writes because you get so involved in the story right from the start. It’s a really intriguing story that kept me so into it that I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read Mason’s story. I want to read more about about this pack. Maybe we can have Derek’s story?

This is a great book that didn’t take much time to read. It is well paced and the story line doesn’t feel rushed. Things are explained and set up for future books. The way that the characters are written makes you feel like they could be your neighbor or your friend. Ok, I wish that I had friends like this but more because of the whole shifter element. You are instantly connected to the characters and who doesn’t root for a bad boy turned good guy. I loved the push and pull that happens with the characters because it is something that you could see actually happening. The pushing away to protect someone from the past, the pulling them closer because you just can’t stay away from them. I love the tenacity that is shown in this book. It was a quick read and there were things I was not expecting which made things even better. It is so hard to not say everything because I don’t want to give any spoilers. If you have a day that you can just spend in a book, let this be that book. I promise you wont be disappointed. I can’t wait for more.

I have to admit that paranormal romance are definately a genre I love and I have read this authors work before so I knew I was going to enjoy it. This author never disappoints me. If you love stories about strong protective warewolf shifters and their fated mates then this is definately a book for you.

In this story we are with Alexa and Miles.
Alexa has had a rough relationship in the past with a warewolf shifter which causes her to run as far away as possible. She plans on never allowing another man to get that close to her again. That is until she meets Miles. The attraction to him is instant, she feels a connection she has never felt before but is it all too good to be true?

Miles has heard stories about fated mates but he’s not sure it’s real until Alexa walks into his life. He knows that she is his fated mate and he will stop at nothing to make her his. However he is hiding a secret. He is a wareshifter. How will Alexa react to this news? Will she believe him even?

With Alexa’s past how will she react when she finds out the truth about who Miles really is? What happens next is a fight between her heart and her head. She knows what happened in the past and she doesn’t want to fall prey again but this connection with Miles feels so different.
Miles on the other hand is determined to prove that this is real and fight for his mate but will her constant rejection and pushing him away prove to be too much?
What is going to win Alexa’s head or will she give into nature and what it is has store for her and her mate?

Savage Lies (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Savage Lies (Hidden Valley Elite #1)Savage Lies by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the prequel we met Cole and Riley. Both coming from different backgrounds, Cole was privileged and Riley was a thief who was always on the run from her psycho father. In book 1, Riley finds herself back in Cole’s town not understanding why because her mother and her never pulled a con twice in the same place. Riley finds out that her mom has a new boyfriend and wants to place down roots for real. The problem with this is Riley can’t believe her mother would want to do this because she has never acted like this before and Riley’s father was still looking for them. However, because she loves her mom she decided she will go along with whatever this is for now, especially since her mom was making promises she only dreamt of. What she doesn’t know is that she is about to get thrown right into the path of a cute guy she had a moment with a year ago. Throughout the book, her and Cole become enemies due to past circumstances, lies, and miscommunications. Cole has a lot of pull in school and the area and produces many enemies for Riley. They find themselves playing each other to make each one of them miserable, while actually having a lot of sexual tension. Once truths start to come out, so do feelings. But will the truths come out in time to save both of them?
If you love a bully and stepsibling romance this is a good one. These books are short, sweet, and full of entertainment. I enjoyed the story as much as the romance. Each of the characters was great as well. Because we have the prequel, it made loving Cole, even though the bullying, easy. You knew where a lot of the heartache was coming from and could also see how much he loved her at the same time. And Riley, well she was just badass. She had a soft side that was easy to love but also didn’t let people just take what they wanted. She stood up for herself, was cunning, and also sympathetic. This book does end on a cliffhanger and I enjoyed it so much that I immediately read book 2.

WOW!!!! This book ended with a whollup of a twist that I didn’t see coming. I loved this book and series. I have read them all and can’t wait for the next one.

The chemistry that came off the pages between Catina and Master Botosoni was magnetic. Catina is a physic reader and from a strict family of proprietary. Her father is trying to arrange a marriage that will bring her family money, although she is not overly cooperative. I wouldn’t either. Not in this day and age.

Great book. Lots of twists, angst, and war to keep you flipping page after page.

Song of Earth and Claws (Faelands Series) by Lena Abram – Review by Maikalani

Song of Earth and ClawsSong of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love a good fae book and this is definitely intrigued it was a bit slow to start and I had push through the world building but it really sets the background. Perhaps it has a touch of dystopian (not a huge fan of that genre which is maybe why I muscled through)

It’s hunger games meets the fae. Epic twists and turns for a what will you do for love ? What will you do to rescue those that you love. The strong lead female character draws you in and by the time your 25% through you’re wanting to keep going and see the life she lays out for herself. She wi stop at nothing. Always the under dog till the end.
The creatures and characters introduced are marvelous.

The main reason it’s a 4 is because I felt some of the story was missing key information or could be used to provide more.

I’ll definitely read her other stories that are left in the same universe but different worlds cause she’s intriguing.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran. This is the second installment in the Savage Duet series and I would highly recommend reading the 1st book before this one. This book picks right up from the first book and is the continuing story of Ava being kept prisoner by Kingston (King). Ava is attracted to King even though she doesn’t want to be. King has always collected things and Ava is no exception. He is so attracted to her that he wants to protect her which is unusual for King. I felt like Ava was stronger in the first part of the book and in the second she was more defeated and just accepting her fate. Ava also learns that she can’t trust a lot of people that she thought she could including some of her own family. In the second part of the book we also see some of Kings background including he and his brother being abused by their father. Which makes things more understandable in the way he treats people. When King is injured Ava has to make a decision, does she stay or leave. Such a good read!

Savage Start (Hidden Valley Elite #0.5)Savage Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Savage Start: A High School Bully Romance Prequel (Hidden Valley Elite Series) by Isla Vaughn is a great new adult romance series

Surveying her prey, stealing a keepsake, and getting stopped by a panty-melting local who steals a kiss all happen quickly. That kiss is toxic. Not really, but the kind that makes her confront the reality on an emotional level

Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. The story transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down.

The cops label him “trouble” on sight. But it’s the kind of trouble she dreams about.

Between the Devils’ Spawn MC cut on his back and the blood on his hands, Cutter isn’t surprised he’s landed in police custody for doing the right thing—again. But then the pretty cop who slapped cuffs on him years ago walks into the interrogation room. Only now she’s a detective, and still the brunette bombshell who lives in his Daddy Dominant fantasies.

Emily Mayhew knew Cutter was innocent back then, but as a rookie she could only watch him be railroaded straight to jail. Now she needs his help. The Sons of Chaos MC is running guns, drugs, and humans—and they can smell “cop” a mile away. Infiltrating this gang requires the real deal. It also requires a tight perimeter of secrecy to keep her jealous colleagues’ dirty fingers out of it. Working with Cutter, the man who fuels her most sensuous submissive dreams, will be the adrenaline rush of Emily’s life.
