Read this before getting into Brink of Denial! Such a fantastic kick off into the characters you will inevitably want more of. The novella is one you can get through in one sitting but give yourself time because you will want to immediately start the next book in the series.

Wow!! I don’t usually read books from this genre but decided to check it out on a whim. Boy was I NOT disappointed. Great balance between the story telling and the action! The pace was spot on the entire time. You will find me immersed in all thinks mafia for the foreseeable future. I could not put this down, so you should pick it up!

Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett is book two of the Soul Connection Series. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get into this book as it’s a little more paranormal than I usually go for but I was pleasantly surprised!
Logan lost his little sister Andi and everything has seems to spiral out of control for him from there. His guilt and his hate for Angel eat him up. If only he could have saved her. Angel knows about Logan’s hate for her. She feels enough self inflicted guilt she can’t really blame him for his anger. The night of Angel’s birthday everything changes. Will Angel and Logan be able to move passed all their pain?
I couldn’t put this book down! I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The suspense was intense. I was really rooting for Angel and Logan. I could relate to Logan’s pain even though I thought he was punishing Angel a little too harshly. I really enjoyed this book even though I was hesitant about it at first.
Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1) by Melody Calder follows the storylines for Ramone and Katie. Katie, the daughter of a ruthless criminal, is in danger and she gets a bodyguard courtesy of her father, Ramone.
The tension in the book is so thick you could cut it with a knife. The characters interactions with each other seems like something you could find in a tv show or movie. I kept getting that sensation while reading it that it could be a tv show. The portrayal of evil was believable and sometimes uncomfortable. It was a great read that I binged in a day.

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett
4 Stars
I have read many books by this author and have enjoyed all of them. I especially loved the first book in this series and was super excited about this one as I was left with a few questions at the end of the first. It was awesome getting back to Scott and Zelda and I would have loved more of their story in this book. In saying that I didn’t fall into this one quite as deep as I did the first. It still had all of the amazing writing I’ve come to expect from a book by this author but this one had me confused most of the time. There are a lot of moving parts and trying to keep up was a challenge. It took me a bit to finish it as it was quite long. I did love the mystery and never knowing what secret would be revealed next. It was just a bit complicated trying to keep the characters straight and I did have to go back every now and then to get back on pace. Logan and Angel were strong characters and I did love both of them.
The ending was awesome and helped clear up some of the confusion, but not all of it. I love this author and will read anything she comes out with, this one was just not one of my favorites although I did enjoy most of it.
Sexy Drug is the first book in the Losing My Heart series by Melody Calder. This is a fantastic romantic suspense, with a enemies to lovers/mafia element, some drama, danger, tension, and more. I was pulled into the story quite quickly and was avidly reading to discover how it all played out in the end. Katie is the daughter of a powerful and dangerous drug lord. She has the reputation of being a spoiled princess. Ramone is one of her fathers trusted men. They have a mutual dislike of one another- so things get heated when Katie’s safety is on the line and Ramone is tasked with keeping her safe. Thrust together, the sparks soon fly. Get set for a fantastic read! Now I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

This was a first for me from this author and was an ok read. A shifter-romance, the characters are complex. There are some really cute moments that keep the story flowing and kept me reading until the end. The storyline was slow moving for me though and I wanted to connect more. Not a quick fire romance but sizzling enough.

Someone is killing lawyers, but a particular vampire lawyer won’t stay dead.
Donovan Trait is a marked man. Flamboyant, stunningly handsome, and notoriously insatiable, his attitude and style belie his skills in the courtroom. No one survives a cross-examination at Donovan’s hands. His knowledge of the law and trial practice has accumulated over the years… and years, of experience. More than three hundred years. You see, when Donovan isn’t seducing judges and juries, he’s a creature of the night. And now that someone has decided that it’s time to kill all lawyers, his lust for attention has set him in the murderer’s sights. The problem is, vampires don’t die. Not easily, anyway. That’s good news for Donovan, not so much for his very human lady love, also a target of the serial killer. Will several unsuccessful attempts on his life expose Donovan’s true nature? Will the killer learn the secret that will guarantee a permanent death? Or will Donovan finally manage to put an end to the killer’s murderous spree and live happily ever after, with his lady love?

This is my first book by L.D. Wosar. I am happy to say that I enjoyed reading Wild Vamp. I didn’t know the characters when I started reading, but it is pretty easy to pick up their general relationships. The story has a lot of plot twists which makes it a quick read.
Dominic Belluomo is the King of the Milite Coven of vampires. Along with his wife, Kaysee, they are watching the number of vampires dwindle to almost nothing in the US due to the vycan plague (vampire/Lycan hybrids). Kaysee is certain that going after the front person of the attacks, Panthaos, will help them find the source of the problem.
Going out of their way to try to defeat Panthaos and his hybrids before their vampire numbers are no more takes a lot more from the coven they thought possible. Loss of members, kidnappings, and a hidden foe lead them on a path that could lead to their destruction. Will they overcome all their obstacles and restore their vampire numbers?
This was very interesting to read. I liked the characters and how they were developed. At times I couldn’t help but think that I was reading an adult version of The Smurfs! I mean… the guys are blue, the girl is blonde with a white dress, and there’s an evil sorcerer who talks to an animal side kick. (shrugs shoulders)
It was entertaining to say the least! Since she left it with a big cliff hanger, I now need to read the second part to find out how it ends!

My rating 5 out of 5 stars
Oh my I really loved this book. This contemporary romance about Leo & Sanaya is breathtaking. It is romantic overload with these two. The reference to Latika’s Theme from Slumdog Millionaire kind of stuck and I ended up listening to it while I read and it pushed me further into the feel of the book. This was my first book by Jim Shomos and it was so good. The words just transported me away!

A great surprising love story that keeps you turning pages. Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander provides some very steamy romance scenes while you root for Jolie Cox to get what she has deprived herself from for a long time. As a single mother of two children, who works two jobs, who doesn’t have much time to herself until she meets Marcus Young. She lets herself experience things she hasn’t in a long time. But is there deception in the air?
I really enjoyed the storyline. Reading the last page made me want more. I feel the Zayed are real respectful. I believe they will help Lillie increase her self esteem. I can not wait for the next book.

Blue Summer Part Two continues where Part One left off, just days after Lillie meets the Zayed and starts to become part of their world. She finds herself irresistibly drawn to the other men in her circle: Brian, Chief, and Clay. While she learns to navigate her mating with Heath, she also knows that she has the power to choose other mates as well, if she desires. She doesn’t have much time to think however, as the villain Erius is back to his usual tricks, and manages to capture her once again. When he gives her a truth serum to compel her to reveal the secrets of her new tribe, her will and strength are tested anew.
Lots of new developments in this installment, which make for an interesting read. Lillie learns about her own abilities, and just what she is capable of in times of stress. I like her character and unwillingness to stand back while men fight her battles. She is just as calm and dependable as the Zayed. Love how much they respect and admire her. A fun romance with some steamy sections, this story is easy to devour.

I really loved this third book in the Antipodes series. More like Book 1, there was a ton of adventure, and new plot points were brought in that really deepened the story to another level. Cam is dealing with a serious loss, and embarks on a quest to fulfill promises, honour his grief, and hopefully get some closure. He also starts to peel back the layers of deception in another community’s attempts to dominate those left surviving. We meet some great new characters, and see some old favourites as they find new challenges in their life on Lewis. Ouroboros might be my favourite of the 3 books I’ve read in this series so far. Lots of drama and action, keep it coming Ms. Simons!

Lots of intrigue and excitement in this one! Katie Rosewood is the daughter of crime lord kingpin Carl Rosewood, who will stop at nothing to keep his daughter safe. After an attempt on her life, he assigns one of his top bodyguards, Ramone Sanchez, to guard her 24/7. Initially, Ramone sees her as a spoiled rich girl, but after spending time with her and seeing her at her most vulnerable, he begins to care for her. Unfortunately, while Carl vehemently protects his daughter, he is a thorough narcissist who sees her only as a valuable possession whom he can control at his whim. When he decides to expand his business, Katie may end up being a pawn whom he can trade to satisfy his desires.
The character of Carl is drawn well and is truly frightening. I really liked Ramone, and we got to hear a lot from his point of view. The plot takes many twists and turns, which kept me engaged in the story. All in all, this is a good romance with many elements of danger and corruption that will satisfy readers of crime and suspense as well.

I have very mixed feelings about this book and my main problem for this book was that I just didn’t care about the characters. I really wanted to like Chase and Allegra (if I’ve spelt that right?) but they just annoyed me for the majority of this book and I really wanted to believe their relationship but I had issues with that too. Especially over a certain scene, I was just like huh? So I did stick out reading the whole of this book which did take a few to get through but overall I’m glad I read it. I might even read some more of her books who knows. I liked the writing though and that is something that kept me reading.

Heart of Stone Audio Book by Dakota Willink is volume one in The Stone Series. I enjoyed the idea of this book however I do think it could have been executed a little better. As I was listening to it I found myself engaged and enjoying it but afterwards it felt like there hadn’t been much detail in it. By the time the book was over it didn’t feel like there had been too much development and that it had all happened in a very short amount of time.
I also didn’t connect with the characters too well, although I am interested enough to see what happens in the next book.
Overall I did enjoy the story though. It caught my attention in the moment and it is the first book that I have listened to with two narrators. Although that took a little getting used to once I had I thought it really added to the story. This is a good book and I am looking forward to the next one.

Wild Vamp by L.D. Wosar is the second book in the Jaded Vamp series. This is an action packed book that really is great to read. Personally I wish I had read the first book in the series before this one as it felt like I was missing out. It didn’t take too long to figure out what was going on story wise but I would have liked the character development. I really enjoyed Kaysee. I thought she was such an intriguing character and I really want to know more about her! Overall I really enjoyed this book. I will definitely be going back to add the first book and will continue the series.
Is a Paranormal romance that mixes humans and Zayeds. Mixing two worlds. It doesn’t always go well. Lillie’s life takes a huge turn very quickly. All in all these kinds of books are my favorite kind of stories, a very quick 48 hours in one person’s life and everything changes. Helps us remember how life can change in a blink of an eye. Good story. I recommend this book.

This is the second book in the Soul Connection series and wow what a book. The author does an amazing job of mixing true hard situations such as grief and adding some paranormal influence. It follows the story of 2 people Logan And Angel.
Logan is suffering with unbearable grief after finding out his sister was murdered. Full of anger and regret he turns to alcohol to numb the pain. As well as blaming himself he also blames the one person who could have helped but didn’t, Angel.
Angel came forward with her information which lead to the killers being caught however she is now full of guilt and remorse over not stepping in at the time. Added to her guilt is the hatred from Logan.
Things change however when Logan runs over Angel now Angels spirit is in a fight to return back to her body before its too late.
All through the book we are taken through a journey of grief and realising that even in death our loved ones never really leave us. After all the heartache can something good come from this experience for both Angel and Logan?
This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first one. This series just keeps getting better and better. I highly suggest you read the first book as well as it is just as great. This is a well written story about Nya and King and the past they had and the future in front of them. They are relatable and made the story come to life. I enjoyed their growth and the chemistry they share. They made such great characters. Nya and King had a past but now as adults, Nya is faced with the lies she told and her new room mate who happens to be King. What will fate have in store for these two? I highly recommend reading this book to find out.

After reading the previous book I knew this one would be just as great. And I wasn’t disappointed. It picked up right where the other ended and introduced some new characters to us along the way. I found this book to be even better than the first one as it was filled with even more twists and turns along the way. Once again the author has managed to construct a beautifully written and quite riveting story. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! And I certainly cannot wait to see what the author has in store for the next book in this series. This is a must read in my opinion.
Dane, future leader of the Mafia group Sindicato, is tough in every way but one–Mila, the girl who stole his heart years ago. Mila, however, has left that life behind, moving across the country to have a modeling career. 11 years of suffering, being apart, and Mila comes home–asking Dane for help with a personal issue. But things aren’t always as neat and clean as they appear. Mafia romance at its finest! Loved this story! The characters are fantastic and likable. The storyline moves at a perfect pace. Very well written novel! My only complaint is…I need to know when the next one is coming out!

Oh my goodness, I fell in love with with Scott and Zelda They have so many challenges to go through to find the love that they know is there for them. The plot is so well written and smooth that I didn’t want to stop reading. I kept going just one more chapter and found I couldn’t put my kindle down. The characters feel real. The emotion and personality can take you up and down like a hurricane in Florida. It’s a beautiful love story with a bit of murder, mystery, romance, mental illness, a bit of comedy and a touch of ghosts. I’m excited to see there are two more books in the series. Scott and Zelda may just be my new favorite romance pairing of the year. This is a true paranormal that you just cannot miss.
Courage of Us is the story of Patience and Duke, teenage best friends, who both want to be more but as most teenagers do, they don’t communicate that to each other and life takes them on different paths. Fast forward a few years, Duke returns to town after years away in the Marines and is trying to find his way in civilian life again. He is determined that Patience is going to be a big part of that. He wants her back in his life! Patience however, is also trying to find her way in the world after a bad and emotionally abusive marriage. So the big question becomes can they find their way to each other and finally be together they way they should have been all these years??? or is the pain of the past too much for both of them to make it possible.
Courage of Us by Brooke May is a wonderful read by a very talented and creative author. Her characters have heart and depth. I am really hoping that there will be more books to follow and soon. Please tell me Ms May that Chase, Holt, Decker and Ryder are going to get stories too?

What an awesome way to start a series! Sons of Sindicato is the first book in the series by Sonja Jesus and Cam Johns. This book is only 108 pages but it truly is amazing! Braelynn Shaw is a criminal attorney that has just been promoted. Seth Giordano is a mafia crime lord. She’s in love with him. His family isn’t very fond of her. That is until they face the same enemy. This book is one of those edge of your seat books that you definitely cannot put down once you start reading. I was enthralled from the moment that I started this book until the time that I finished it. It was really great storyline and had really awesome characters. I honestly cannot wait for the next book to come out! This is a book you definitely do not want to miss!

Logan is a twenty-four-year-old who has lost his girlfriend because he saw her cheating on him, his sister because she was murdered, and his life because he can’t stay away from alcohol. On the night of her eighteenth birthday, he is overwhelmed with emotion. He drowns himself in alcohol until he ends up at the house of the person that he feels responsible for the loss of his sister.
Angel is twenty-one. It’s her birthday, and she’s having a blast. Well, she pretends like she’s having fun. Angel has been suffering alone in her pain. A few months ago, she found out that she was a witness to a terrible act…the act that was Logan’s sister, Andi’s murder. She was so wrapped up in herself that she failed to see what was going on.
Then an accident occurs. And suddenly Angel is not in her body anymore. Her former boyfriend, Scott, who now sees ghosts, tries to help her through this strange time, but will that be enough?
Sleeping Angel is the second book in the Soul Connection Series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. Although this book can be read alone, I highly recommend reading the first book. This story is one about crazy pasts, murders, and secrets. The characters are connected through a web that has all of them wondering how closely tied they all are.
Fabulous! This book really just jumped right in. That beginning! Mila wanted a new life for herself, a life of her choosing. I could understand that, but I also get how heartbreaking her leaving was for Dane. He definitely wasn’t kind to her after all those years apart. Eleven years away is a long time, but the feelings and chemistry between Dane and Mila was intense! Could Dane really take another chance with her, and trust her to stay by his side? I loved this one even more than the last!
