Five – Alarm Christmas : A Novella by Melinda Valentine – Review by Karyn Taylor

Five-Alarm Christmas : A NovellaFive-Alarm Christmas : A Novella by Melinda Valentine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Five-Alarm Christmas is a great contemporary romance novella by Melinda Valentine. I had never read any of this author’s work but at only 37 pages I thought it was worth giving it a go. Although very short, the author has managed to pack a lot into this novella which I devoured in one sitting.
If you are looking for a short steamy romance then I suggest that you give Finley and Garrett’s story a chance. When Finley and Garrett hook up at a bar and have a hot steamy night together they don’t expect to ever see each other again, only to discover the very next day that Finley is the daughter of Garrett’s new boss at the fire station. Everyone at the firs station knows that the boss’ daughter is out of bound but that doesn’t stop Garrett from wanting more than the one night from Finley.
This is a really great story, albeit very short. I’d love to read a full length novel about the exploits of Finley and Garrett as I’m sure it would be a very hot, sizzling read.

Hell Hath No Fury (Life Is Hell Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Hell Hath No Fury (Life is Hell #2)Hell Hath No Fury by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series. I loved this one as much as the first. This is an author that is fast becoming one of my favorites. Her books will pull you in right from the beginning and her characters are unique and creative. This book is no different. This is a well developed book that is engaging and details that brings the story to life. The characters are fun and entertaining to read about. This is a shorter story that kept me turning pages to the end. Juniper Lake is not some place you would normally find the MC of this story but she has taken interest in a human deputy. Her problem is that if she follows her heart, she could break a friend or get her killed. I loved this book. The characters made the story easy for me to read and want to know what happened to them. I read this book in one sitting as it is that good. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Flipping the Bird: A Paranormal Chick Lit Novel (Shift Creek book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Flipping the Bird (Shift Creek, #1)Flipping the Bird by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. This is a paranormal romance story that is full of fun characters and plenty of shifters. This is a well developed story that pulled me in right from the beginning. The characters brought the story to life and made it feel realistic. They even made me giggle once or twice. This is a story about Alice who is a crow shifter. The magical stream in the town she lives in is drying up. But when a hot warlock comes to town, he just may be their saving. His connection with the town is a little more than any one expects. As he finds himself falling for Alice, he could risk everything if he is exposed. I really enjoyed these characters. They brought the story to a new level and so entertaining. They made the story for me. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Eye of Death (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides – Review by Naomi McDonald

Eye of Death (Vampire State, #3)Eye of Death by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eye of Death is the third book in the Vampire State series. In order to truly appreciate this book, you need to read the two previous ones.
This book is a great continuation of the series. Rowena is deciding on her loyalties. Eye of Death contains some suspense, danger, drama, and social commentary that lead to some surprising twists. There isn’t much more I can say without ruining the impact of the story with spoilers.
I love the uniqueness of this series and look forward to reading the next book.

A short steamy quick read. A random hook-up that should have been a one night stand becomes complicated.
Great quick read, my only complaint is I WANT MORE. I want to know what happens after they leave the Christmas party.

Second Chance eX-mas by N.D. Jackson – Review by Angela Hayes

Second Chance eX-masSecond Chance eX-mas by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 ½ Stars

Second Chance eX-mas is a heart-warming second chance romance by N.D. Jackson. Second Chance romance is something Ms. Jackson does incredibly well- and this book is a great testament to that fact. I have read Ms. Jackson’s Mustang Prairie series, which I really enjoyed- so it was a given that I would be diving into this story too- as I love second chances- and I knew Ms. Jackson would deliver on the promise held in the synopsis.
Ally and Archer were well on their way to a happily ever after, everyone thought so, especially Ally- until Archer left, without ever looking back. After years away, he finally returns, regretting what he’d left behind, and shaking up Ally’s world. When a steamy encounter rekindles the flame that burned between them, will they take a chance on love- or will the past hurt be too much to move past, no matter how hot their chemistry burns.
This is an enjoyable standalone story- with a steamy second chance/ holiday romance, with emotion, a touch of Christmas magic, fun, family- and being a novella makes it a quick and easy read.

Thank-you, N.D Jackson!

Second Chance Ex-mas by N.D. Jackson is a wonderfully written second chance romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down till I finished. I love this author and her attention to detail simply blows me away every time. This is Ally and Archer’s story. These two were thought to have it all and would be together forever. That is until he decided to join the Military and left her behind. Now several years later he’s coming back home, thing is there’s a very big surprise he’s about to find out about. Ally is trying to get a business going all while raising her daughter alone. What does there future look like? Can she let him in again ? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author

Run to the Sea by K.G. Fletcher
Narrated by Kelly Genelle Fletcher
Five Stars

Run to the Sea is the first book in the first book in the Reigning Hearts series by K.G. Fletcher. It is a contemporary romance that is wonderfully written with characters that really put you on an emotional roller coaster. Thomas Capshaw and Emiline Fisher were childhood friends who lost touch. When Thomas comes back to town to settle his grandfathers affairs, he and Em rekindle there friendship which might turn into something more. This book had me laughing, crying and wanting to throw my kindle on the ground. This to me makes a great book. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book in this series. K.G. Is one of my must read authors. I highly recommend this book.
This book was narrated by Kelly Genelle Fletcher. This is the first book I have listened to by Kelly. She really brings the characters to life. Her voice is smooth and easy to listen to.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Ashley A Quinn definitely spins quite the tale! There is the base romance storyline but also the mystery and suspense! I was reading this late one night after hubby had gone to bed and that was maybe not the best idea when reading scenes about a stalker crafted by a master author like Ashley! This was the first of her books I have read but now want to go and read #1 in this series and go from there!

I love that this gave more than one story; it wasn’t just action, or murder mystery or love story. And no specific thing overpowered the other, if that makes sense.
I kept wanting to know who would be next & why, how? Would they figure it out? Would she kill her husband? For longest time I just wanted to know who the heck her husband was! All around good read.

This is the first time I am reading a book written by this author. The characters and story is well written and I really liked it from the beginning. The two main characters had great chemistry and you can tell they are working hard to forget or move on from their past. Will their love help them through it or hinder them? Between the romance and the intrigue make the book engaging. I’m sure many readers will enjoy this book.

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) by Amy McKinley – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Moonlit Mirage - A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series)Moonlit Mirage – A Cook Islands Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Moonlight Mirage is a novella in the Moonlit Destination series by Amy McKinley. With being a novella, I felt like it was missing some detail. Her writing style is amazing, and I love all her books. The characters are likeable and the chemistry between Cade and Nadia was instant. I with there was more details given to their past, as it felt brushed over, told in passing. I did like the mysterious feel to it. We didn’t learn the details of their meeting until near the end of the book. I felt like the story ended abruptly, however, I’m hopeful their story continues in another book in the future. There is mentioning of characters from other McKinley books, so that was a pleasant surprise. This is a quick read, with a happily ever after. I recommend this book, and am onto the next in the series.

If you have read any of my reviews in the pest,  I often mention how I downloaded a book based on it’s synopsis but don’t remember exactly what it says by the time I start reading it. This novella is the perfect example. I will be completely honest with you, during the first chapter I want sure I was going to enjoy this story.  This is not to say the storyline and writing wasn’t fantastic, it just hit the ground running. Needless to say, I ended up loving it. I found myself smiling more often than not. The characters were great, whether Finley,  Garrett, or supporting characters. I could go on forever but since it’s such a short read, try it yourself!

The Kissing Bough (Forbidden Loves) by Madelynne Ellis Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

The kissing Bough was a interesting story. I’ve read a lot of MFM books and this one by far is the most proper. I couldn’t get over how much more dirty it sounds when spoken in old language. The author really threw me with how good the story was written. It felt very classy and elegant. I’m all for doing what is right for you but incest is a big no for me. I kind of blocked that part out. It was a nice short read. Viola literally found herself due to a misunderstanding. She was granted her freedom due to poor choices. Percy and Will were interesting characters would’ve liked more of a background on them. I guess back then marrying or loving a cousin wasn’t strange or against the law. I say read it if you need something short and full of understanding and enlightenment.

This was an enjoyable quick read. The author did an exceptional job making the characters come to life, and making me feel like I was along with them in this charming small town. This is a wonderful holiday read and hopefully there is enough holiday magic for Ally and Archer to get a second chance at love and happiness. Even though this is a quick read it never felt rushed or or like you missed out on anything. There are some wonderful characters in this book. This is a must read to get all those feels you look for in a good second chance romance story. I will definitely be reading more books by this author. I highly recommend this book.

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Debi Kircher

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher

5 +++++ Stars

This is my 2nd AUDIObook by this author, I’ve read the ebook and just like the first one I had to have the audio because it is told in this author’s own voice and I fell in love all over again with this book. Most of this review is a copy from my ebook review because the feelings are the same after settling in and listening to it being read to me.

This story grabbed me from page 1…squeezed the ever loving life out of me…destroyed me …blew life back in to me, knocked me back down again, and then picked me back up…I ugly cried more than once, well more than twice actually and felt completely worn out. I’ve read I think all of this author’s books. I’ve loved every one of them and will read them all again at some point, but this one even though the second in a series stands within my top favorites of all time.

Ginger and Jonathon brought out every emotion I didn’t know I had. This story was written so beautifully and felt so real. I swear I feel like I stepped back out of Sandersville Beach after reading the last page. I loved Ginger in Emmy and Cappy’s book and love her even more now. Speaking of which, it was so completely awesome being back with Emmy and Thomas again as well..I loved their story and it was nice to be a part of their continuing journey. I love this town and I love the people in it…I want to move there!

I want so bad to get into more details of the story itself but I don’t trust myself to do that without giving away things I shouldn’t be so will end here and leave you with…these books are a must read and now a must listen, there’s too much in the first book to skip it so I don’t recommend that. I’m so hoping she decides to narrate Fiona’s story as well.

Grab the books or the audios or both..I swear reading them first makes them like a favorite movie, then watching that favorite movie again this time in her voice and anticipating some of my favorite parts and how she handles them. I just LOVE it beyond words!

Many thanks and much love to this author!

Office MistakesOffice Mistakes by Beth Hale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a brilliant first read from this author and really set me up for looking forward to more reads by her! Office Mistakes is a feel-good holiday romance read that while short, really does bring you quite a bit in a short time. Audra and Charlie have a connection that is undeniable but has been put to the back as they both are hoping for the same promotion, until one night! These two have amazing chemistry and I loved watching them work through the glitches they had at the beginning as it showed what they were both willing to put into things, it also showed what their real feelings were, in a short period of time! Can Audra put aside her past enough to allow Charlie to come and show her what she really needs and wants? I highly recommend this read.

This audio book had me laughing within the first chapter. Noel is hilarious and real I can feel myself in her. She’s a true inner womens dialogue. A women scron is not one to be messed with.
Dave what a dickhead. He is what you call a despicable human been. If your ears are delicate you may need an adjustment. Leon is amazing I love his character. The narrative who does this book both female and male do. It very well.
I have throughly enjoy all the voices who have done this audio book. I listen to this book in one sitting it is brilliant and I would highly recommend it to someone who wants a realistic romance story with the real world aspects.

Four Stars

Eye of Death is the third book in the Vampire State series by Alexander Charalambides. This series should be read in order, if you haven’t read the first two books, I highly recommend you go back and read them first. All of the books are excellent, but you need the backstory from the first two to really understand all of the nuances of this book. Rowena is back and trying to figure out which path she needs to take. This book hooked me from the first page and I just couldn’t put it down until I finished the last.Alexander Charalambides has a very interesting take on vampires that makes the story not like other vampire romance. I enjoyed this romance story. It is a shorter story that packs a real punch for romance. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning and it certainly kept me turning pages to the end. This is an engaging story about Fiona and Connor. She is asked to tutor a football player but what she doesn’t realize is that she is about to face someone from her past. The problem is that he left her all that time ago, will he make amends with her? Connor is determined to have her back and show her he isn’t leaving this time. What happens next you will need to read this book. They are such great characters and really made the story easy to read for me. Their chemistry is awesome and couldn’t wait to see if they get their HEA. I highly recommend reading their story and this author

Rick: Ingram Brothers #3 by Roz Lee – Review by Karyn Taylor

Rick (Ingram Brothers #3)Rick by Roz Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rick is the 3rd book in the Ingram Brothers series by Roz Lee. This book can be read as a standalone. I had not read any of the previous two books and did not feel that I was missing any necessary information. Although now having met all 3 brothers in this book, I’d like to go back and get the stories of the others two brothers Jake and Will.
Unlike Jake and Will’s stories, Rick is an M/M romance. I don’t read a lot of M/M romance but do usually enjoy them when I do and I really enjoyed this book very much as there was so much going on that just the M/M sex scenes although I must point out that they were HOT!
I really enjoyed Rick and Brent’s story. Rick is ex-military and has kept his sexuality hidden. He is well and truly still in the closet. Thanks to his brother he now has Brent as his roommate but the attraction between the 2 is off the charts and they soon can’t keep their hands off each other.
I was really rooting for Rick to come out to his brothers but I’m sure he never expected them to find out the way they did. That was one of my favourite scenes and I won’t spoil it by saying what happened but it’s definitely worth a read for this scene alone.

I loved this Christmas book. It is full of Christmas spirit, magic and of course, it would not be Christmas without Santa. This is a well written story that brings hope to a difficult topic for some. The characters bring the story to life and bring lots of emotions. This is a shorter story that I found to be engaging and fast paced. This is a story about a family whose father is dying of cancer. Santa steps in and tells his wife that she must keep him alive. She wonders how when she has no medical training or skills. Will she and the rest of the family learn the true meaning of a miracle? This is such a great story and the characters are amazing. It will show you the true meaning of Christmas. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The Rest of Forever (Audio Tour) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Meg Tyrrell

This is my first book by Carrie Pulkinen. It was a great story idea with humans and angels. I loved this story. It is a love story between two guardians – as in guardian angels. It gives the idea of how the angels become guardians and extremely detailed. These two characters have some baggage to work through, but it is a great read. The narrators were fantastic. They helped get me into this story easily. I recommend it! Can’t wait to see what this author has coming up next.

I always love a good holiday themed read, and this one did it for me. Although short and sweet, it had everything I needed to fall in love with this book. The characters were well developed and I was quickly turning the pages to find out what happens with Archer and Ally and of course Glory. Their story is sweet, beautiful and their second chance at love and a life together had me excited. The drama involved with Archer being in the military and him leaving everything by behind gave the story that little extra kick. I really look forward to reading more from this author.

Be Brave with Me (Finding Love in Green Springs Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by CA Miconi – Review by Jenique Bornman

J.B Havens & CA Miconi joined forces in this heartwrenching romance.
Meg & Drew are both broken, they have both lost someone close to them.
Meg is on the run from her heartbreak and ends up in the small town Green Springs. There she runs into Drew, also heartbroken.
They keep on running into each other….. will these to people begin to heal….. you’ll have to read it to find out.

Both these MC’s are amazing and well written but I must say that I was drawn more towards Meg with her foul mouth and cheeky attitude.

Tyler and Tara also did and absolutely superb job with the narration of this book. I’m definitely checking to find more books narrated by them.
