Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite Book 7) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kristan Anderson

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn is book seven in her Hidden Valley Elite series. I would absolutely read them in order because they do all tie in and follow the same group from high school to college. After the way the last book ended I was shocked and so nervous for Shane. I’m glad to see things wrapped up but boy did he have quite the story with Winter. And Winter herself, she’s had a rough go with life and the things that she has seen and what happened to her sister. Without realizing it, Winter walked right back into Shane’s life and she can’t remember him. Shane on the other hand sees red when he looks at Winter, remembering the lowest point in his life. And yet, the attraction and pull between them is hard to ignore. Truly, I love this series and look forward to how everything plays out. But come on with these cliff hangers! I mean I’m going to keep reading so you don’t have to do that to me!!

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 7th book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series, and it can be read alone, but I would recommend reading all the series and the prequel in order as you get to know the other characters and see glimpses of who they are. As for this book, I have to say, “Wow, what a read!” This book has so much emotion mixed with highs and lows that I didn’t know whether to grab a tissue, or scream bloody murder during parts of it. Shane and Winter have a somewhat tortured past, but only one of them remembers, as the other has been trying to deal with things that completely altered her life. To me, this book by far has the most complex and well-written story yet! The way Isla Vaughn has interwoven such a storyline that evokes so much through the written word is so amazing and such a talent. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens. Be aware this, like the rest of the books in this series, is a duology with the next book and ends in a cliffhanger that you definitely want to know more about.

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this book we get Shane and Winter’s story, well at least the first half of their story as this ends in a cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming! Defiantly read the other books first as everything is intertwined. Winter has been raised by her foster parents and is now attending Thane University. She has memories that bleed through as nightmares that she can’t quite figure out. Her dad’s death, her sister’s murder. She meets Shane and she feels familiarity, but she can’t quite place it. She has been warned to stay away from Shane because he’s dangerous. She tries her best to stay away, but she can’t help the feelings that draw her to him. When Shane see’s Winter, all of the painful memories come back to haunt him as he sees the girl, now woman who nearly ended his life. He vows to get his revenge, but when Winter doesn’t recognize him, he starts to question if it’s really worth it. He has his own demons to deal with. I do not like his dad one bit. I think he’s got an ulterior motive and is up to something. I can’t wait to read the second book in their story. I have so many questions that I need answers to!

Dark Moon Secrets (Witch Moon #1)Dark Moon Secrets by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading the Protector Wolf Shifter series by this author Lilliana Rose, I just had to pick up this one. Dark Moon Secrets was another great paranormal read by her. This is the first book of the Witch Moon series and I’m already ready to start the second 😂 Just like the other books, When I tell you I devoured this book, mann!! I was instantly in love and intrigued with her unique storytelling and fantastic character building. This book has witches, shifters, drama, mystery, secrets and the oh so sweet forbidden romance between Alaric and Tanjie. I’m waiting patiently for the next book(New Moon Fate), I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us. To see just how powerful Tanjie will get!
Ps: I also love this cover 🥰

Reading this book about Tanjie and Alaric was very amusing, but at the same time I wanted to throttle them both. Both were stubborn in their own ways. Both very ignorant at first, but watching them work through those ignorance’s, and having their lightbulb moment had my shouting “Finally!” I loved that this book was based in Australia, and had a modern twist to it. The supernatural aspect was a little different and it was a breath of fresh air. Trying to do something new when you already have a very set supernatural world that everyone knows, is a feat in it’s own right. The storytelling was very well done and I can’t wait to see what this author bring to the table in her next book!

Winter never wanted to go back to where her life turned upside down. She was ready to face the past but she had no choice with her mother’s parole hearing coming up. What Winter didn’t realize is that going back to the source of her pain was exactly what she needed. Shane Bennet was going through his own turmoil. But when he had the chance to get revenge on the girl who nearly ended his life he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get revenge. What Shane didn’t know was that Winter was exactly what he needed. I am absolutely in love with this series. I can’t put any of the books down by this author. I can’t wait to see what else this author publishes.

The humor in this romance book was just too good. I really enjoyed Olivia’s character and definitely got obsessed with the romance between her and Roman. I feel like there was a little something to catch the eye of a very wide audience. It was easy to finish the book in one sitting. Definitely worth your time.

I love Isla Vaughn’s Hidden Valley Elite books. Wicked Games is a stand alone but it’s still amazing to know the backstory of Shane. Watching Shane and Winter fall is the best ever especially knowing his ex. I do hate her cliffhangers but just builds anticipation and Isla always delivers. I definitely recommend this story and all other Hidden Valley Elite stories!

When her ex sends her an invite to his wedding, Olivia is forced to go when her kids set her up. Roman only wants to rebuild a relationship with his daughter so when she asks him to act as Olivia’s date for the wedding, he jumps. What neither of them expected was the feelings they would find.
Opinion
This book is pretty funny with a moderate spice meter. I particularly enjoyed reading about Olivia’s hot flashes and menopausal symptoms. I honestly feel this series will be a hit because it hits home with a large population. For a lot, even though they aren’t there yet, reading about menopause, even in fiction, will give an insight into the future. Great book.

This is book 7 in the series an still does not disappoint! It is not meant to be read as a standalone. This book is about Shane and Winter. Shane’s story especially is rough, holds a grudge an has a soft side we dont always see. Another cliffhanger leaves us waiting for the next…

This series has been absolutely incredible, but the installment I just read was astonishing!! I’m not sure how the author finds new ways to build the Hidden Valley Elite world that keeps me so intrigued, but they do it over and over again. I dove right back into this universe and was hit with ALL the feelings. I mean, this is such an emotional rollercoaster that kept me on my toes and guessing. Reading about Winter and Shane’s story was heart-wrenching and filled with danger, drama, and an intensity that made it impossible to put down. I definitely recommend reading the series from the beginning to get the best experience, but you won’t regret it whatsoever. This is one of my favorite series of the entire year!

This is the third book in the North Fork Series but it is the first one that I have read. Caleb and Wynter are brought together when they help rescue a stray dog. They both make assumptions about the other but they also just can’t seem to stay away from each other. Neither one is wanting a relationship after the disasters of their past relationships. There are forces beyond their control that keep pulling them back to each other. This story was well written and kept me wanting more.

This was wildest ride a book ever took me on . There was a moment when I was like “MORE ? D@MN” lol truly dynamite in a small package . Honestly it fulfills a lot of my wishlist for a book lol undying devotion, razor sharp man softens for love, cute lil affectionate gestures, beautiful displays of love, the whole “mine” thing … I adored this love story. Kiera & Forrest are entirely sweet & adorable together. I do wish more of the things that happened , really HAPPENED … so as readers we could be involved & feel more connected to the story . Certain spots felt a bit detached & I wished for more . I really, really loved Hank & how things went for him ! Special recognition for being delightfully nerdy. & CHEERS to the beautifully brazen self glory throughout this book . It was entirely inspiring & I’m about to be makin my way through Finding Your HeART .

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite Book 7) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wicked Games is Book Seven in the amazing Hidden Valley Elite Series. The characters in each book intertwine with the next book and builds on the previous one so I do recommend reading previous books in this series first. This book is full of angst, betrayal, love, deceit, lies, bullies, drama, tension, chemistry, passion, and an enemies-to-lovers romance. It centers around the characters of Winter and Shane and is told from each of their POV. The storyline starts off with intense tension and drama as Shane is pulled into a situation that could result in him going to jail on charges of involuntary manslaughter. Shane is a football player and is strong, smart, intense, dark, and dangerous. As one of the privileged ones of the Elite he has a reputation for playing to win at all costs and not allowing anyone to stand in his way. Winter has just started the semester at Thane University and is trying to put her dark past behind her. Although eight years have passed, she is traumatized by having to return to the place where her father died and where her mother killed her sister. When she runs into Shane at a local coffee shop, Winter is attracted to him and warnings of how dangerous he is fall on deaf ears. Shane recognizes Winter immediately and memories of her from his past come flooding back. Winter tormented him in grade school so horrendously that he wanted to end his life. When Shane has the opportunity to get to know Winter, he initially decides to plot his revenge against her for the years she bullied him. However, once they spend time together, he begins to see her in a new light. Can the two of them move past the hurt, lies, secrets, and dark pasts to have a bright future? This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride and was full of intense twists and turns that kept me riveted until the final page. And that cliffhanger, wow! Cannot wait for the next book in this fantastic series!

Christmas Cove by Sarah Dressler – Review by Maikalani Alexander

Christmas CoveChristmas Cove by Sarah Dressler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was a very cute Christmas story.
I gave it a three because it seemed in the beginning it didn’t flow as nicely. It was very 3rd person narrative “American packs her clothes” as you get further in the story the author becomes more sure of herself and doesn’t tip toe.

It moves at a good pace a little slow. But I missed the grand hype as to what the big “event” was and why everyone stopped celebrating. She did tie in nicely about the mayors being brothers. And I enjoyed the simmering romance 🙂

This book is well written and interesting fantasy story that gives a fresh take on this genre. I loved getting to know the characters. Their relationship is complicated and hard and relatable. Seeing them navigate through everything going on really pulled me in.
The storyline was well developed. I loved how so much seemed to play into it and I wanted to see how everything would play out. This is the kind of story that I kept thinking about and had to keep coming back to until it was finished. This is the first book outside of a particular series that I have read by this author and I am pleased it is just as good. I cannot wait to see what else is to come.

This book is such a sweet, festive romance story that took no effort at all to become invested in. They were genuine and relatable characters and this made it so much easier to connect with them.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed the writing style. It fit the characters and the story so well. It really started to hit that festive note for me and has kick started the Christmas excited. This is a great book that I would highly recommend.

Dark Moon Secrets (The Witch Moon Series Book 1) by Lilliana Rose – Review by Jenni Bishop

Dark Moon Secrets (Witch Moon #1)Dark Moon Secrets by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

Dark Moon Secrets is the exciting first book in The Witch Moon series. It is a paranormal romance tale that is fast-paced and is action packed full of drama, danger, and tension. I love a good paranormal tale and this one had me on the edge of my seat and my heart pumping. It is mysterious, intense, suspenseful and intriguing.

I have really enjoyed each and every book I have read by Lilliana and this one is no different. A great start to this new series.

There is a cast of many in this book, but they are interesting, well developed and fully realised and it is so easy to become invested in them. With witches, shifters, unexpected inheritances, rebellions, secrets, lies, hatred and mates there is not a dull moment to be had.

Tanjie has no idea who or what she is when she turns up to claim her inheritance. It is definitely not what she expected. She is thrust into a world she knows nothing about. A world she is not sure she wants to belong to. A world of secrets and lies that have been long buried and are about to come to light.

Tensions are running high as the alpha of the pack decide to make a stand that could destroy them all. That is until a mysterious woman comes to town. She will either make or break him.

Dark Moon Secrets is one tale that I am not going to share with you because you should enjoy that story as you slowly reveal its secrets as you turn the pages. If you love paranormal romance, then give this book a try. You know you want to.

I look forward to more of this series from Lilliana.

The Inquisitor (WaterFyre Rising, #4)The Inquisitor by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Inquisitor is book 4 in the series and probably my favorite. I love the guys in the group who all have their over book in the series but this one….not sure why but this definitely was the best on my opinion. I love the chemistry between Forrest and Kiera.
They are pretty much part of the same friend group. One night the chemistry is just too much and they end up having a one night stand that rocked both their worlds. When Forrest woke up, she was gone. No note, nothing! So they pretty much avoided eachother now they are face to face while away on business and they can’t overcome what’s between then. There’s definitely unfinished business.
Forrest is definitely an alpha male and protects what is his. When something happens to Kiera Forrest doesn’t have any option but to get to bottom of everything. Such a great read!

Dark Moon Secrets (The Witch Moon Series Book 1) by Lilliana Rose – Review by Paloma Fierro 16/11/23

Tanjie has always considered herself as a logical and mature human, with parents like her that believe in magic and destiny she was forced to grow up before her time. Now life has a kind of funny sense of timing and with the death of one of her most beloved neighbors she is about to understand that her mom and dad were on the dot more so than she could ever understand.

Alaric is ready for the next step on the pack’s life, lacking the discipline should be a problem but no one that he considers important, the call of freedom has been received and he cannot wait any longer.

This story is full of magic, secrets, it will leave you hanging on until the very end.

Get ready to be swept away in the enchanting magic of this small-town love story. It’s a delightful concoction of Christmas cheer, fate weaving its festive spell, and a tight-knit community that warms your heart.

Dressler’s debut novel is a true holiday treat, filled with the perfect blend of love, destiny, and just the right amount of drama to keep you hooked. The characters are wonderfully crafted, and the story unfolds with a dash of angst that adds to the charm of this heartwarming tale.

I couldn’t help but imagine “Christmas Cove” as a blockbuster Christmas movie while reading it. The vivid small-town setting and the captivating storyline have all the makings of a holiday classic. Sarah Dressler has not only delivered a fantastic read but has also set the stage for what promises to be a brilliant writing career.

Dark Moon Secrets (The Witch Moon Series Book 1) by Lilliana Rose – Review by Sharon Funkhouser

Dark Moon Secrets (Witch Moon #1)Dark Moon Secrets by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the second series I’ve read (well, started to read, this being the first book in this particular series), and Lilliana Rose is consistent in her character development and gradual revealing of storyline. I definitely enjoy the paranormal romance trope, witches and werewolves being the center of this dramatic storyline, and the battle between the coven and other supernatural creatures is definitely intriguing. Probably one of the best things Ms. Rose does is leave each book almost as a cliffhanger- you HAVE to read the next one to continue the story! I love the significance of the Dark Moon that she brings to the story, adding an extra layer of mysticism to an already intriguing storyline, and the forbidden love between Tanji (witch) and Al (werewolf) is steamy from the get go. Looking forward to book 2!
