The Strategist: A Forced Proximity Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 5) by Nadia Han – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

The Strategist (WaterFyre Rising, #5)The Strategist by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arrow Holt is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it, since he enlisted and through his career as a Navy SEAL, he always had to have a strategy and this is still true in every aspect of his life, both business and personal and he has a lot of different business interests, as well as working on his passion project, the WaterFyre Rising game he is developing with his friends. Vivian Vo is a paediatric dentist who has a dark past, she loves her job, as well as the community work she does for those who don’t have insurance, however, she has a lot on her mind as well, she is looking for something, or someone to help her with the ties to her past which have encroached on her present.

Arrow and Vivian know each other through their friendship groups and ever since he laid eyes on her for the first time, he knew that she was the one for him, however, whenever he asks her on a date she always declines, but he is not put off that easily, meanwhile, Vivian knows that she is attracted to him, however, she doesn’t have the time or energy for a romance with everything on her mind, that is until one day he asks for a duel and she reluctantly accepts. This all comes to a head when they are snowed in and Vivian is on the warpath because she feels like despite everything Arrow is saying, it seems like she will just be a one and done, so she goes to give him a piece of mind which ends up firing up the attraction between and causing it to ignite into a passion neither of them can deny.

This leads to them discovering each others scars and deepest emotions, as well as the hidden aspects of their lives, so while they discover each other, they realise that their stories are intertwined in a way neither of them expected when the Triad raises its ugly head and creates problems nobody could forsee, but will their romance continue to burn brightly, or will their pasts extinguish what could be perfection? This is a dark romance with danger around every turn and a mystery which readers will have to unravel as light is brought into the darkness surrounding the characters throughout this enthralling story.

Five book into this seven part series and the fire keeps on coming. They have more in common than they think. Both have a traumatic past and both are looking for a bad guy. Although Arrow tries several times to get Vivian to give him a chance she continuously shoots him down. She believes that he has given up and moved on, but danger comes knocking at her door. Arrow will do anything and everything in his power to keep her safe. All of these books have been great and can all be read on their own. Each book has a little something unique and will keep you reading to see what happens next. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read the previous books of this series and have been hooked ever since! The tantalizing suspense and mystery mixed with long time connected characters and romance keeps readers engaged and wanting to know more! This story focuses on Arrow, who is a former Navy Seal and now has ventured into the wine business. As many before him, his former life has left him with internal scars that are hard to heal and persist to haunt him. Sometimes having those scars and seeing more detrimental ones on others makes one more vulnerable and open to respond. As a result, he meets Vivian and with her hidden agenda ends up being a protector in Arrow. Characters grow on you and you can relate to their situations. Great read and cannot wait for the other ones to come out!

This is the fifth book in the WaterFyre Rising series, and I’ve got to say that this one is now my favorite! While I have enjoyed each installment of this series and each have their own lovely quirks, this one won me over. This author has such an incredible talent in expertly crafting a captivating storyline that unfolds naturally. There are no misplaced chapters that jolt you out of the story because the flow is just perfect! The character development is top-notch as we get to experience Arrow and Vivian’s relationship. The push and pull dynamic between them is addictive, and their chemistry is palpable. I lost a bit of sleep with this one as I couldn’t find it in myself to put the book down! The danger, secrets, chemistry, and drama will have you wanting more. I highly recommend picking up this entire series so you don’t miss out. I can’t wait to see what is next for WaterFyre Rising!

The Strategist (WaterFyre Rising, #5)The Strategist by Nadia Han
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 5 in the WaterFyre Rising series. Even though these books can be read as standalone Indo recommend reading them in order so you can get a more complete picture of the WaterFyre men and how they find themselves where they are now
I have enjoyed every book in this series and this one was just as enjoyable. The author has an amazing way of gripping a reader and making them completely invested in the characters lives. Another thing I love about these stories is that they are told from a duel perspective so you get a complete story from both characters and not just a one sided story
This is a story that is filled with drama, angst, hot chemistry, secrets and danger
Both of our lead characters Arrow and Vivian have had traumatic pasts but both of them are trying to better themselves despite their demons.
Vivian is a strong independent woman. She has had a lot to deal with in her life and things aren’t getting any easy as she is trying to locate a girl who has been kidnapped. With everything she has goes on the last thing she needs is romance and when Arrow approaches her she turns him down. However when they meet again she can’t deny the attraction she feels towards him. There is something about him she is struggling to resist but is it a wise decision to let him in?
Arrow has his own demons that he fights with everyday. He struggles to trust and let people in but there is something about Vivian. When he is near her the demons he fights seem to calm and he doesn’t want that feeling to stop. However she isn’t making it easy for him. She is resisting him at every turn. Can he persist and eventually break through the wall she has around herself?
When Vivian goes up against some dangerous people all Arrow wants to do is protect her but will she allow him close enough to protect her from this danger or will she keep pushing him away to protect herself from the danger giving him her heart could cause?

This story is captivating and gripping. I wanted them to find peace and happiness they deserved together but it wasn’t an easy ride for them. I couldn’t stop reading.

The Strategist (WaterFyre Rising, #5)The Strategist by Nadia Han

The Strategist was an amazing story full of excitement, and tons of action, I couldn’t put the book down! I loved how detailed the author was when developing the characters, and how dynamic each one was, especially with their traumatic backstories that connected the main characters so well. This was the first book in the WaterFyre Rising series that I have read, and I must say I am excited to find the others and start from the beginning of the series. Nadia Han did an amazing job in bringing to life the suspense in this story, I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story hoping that the missing girl would be found. At the same time, the budding romance between Vivian and Arrow is just the right amount of push and pull that has you cheering for her to finally give the guy a chance to see how compatible they really could be. This story is so full of unexpected twists and turns and has the perfect mix of romance, drama, suspense, and mystery, it is plain out awesome!

I never pass up a book by this author, so I immediately grabbed this upon coming across it. Although most of their books have been more of a paranormal romance, they still knocked this romantic suspense out of the park. I truly enjoyed the inclusion of everyone and the character development. It’s a pretty quick read, but that doesn’t mean the author skimped on any details. This book does not skip any details or have any plot holes anywhere! I absolutely adore all of the characters and feel like each of their relationships are wonderful. If you’re ready for an adventure that has chemistry leaping off the pages while it twists and turns, please don’t pass this one up. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in the series and my first. I have not read the other books in the series but I will be going back to do that after I write this. The author has chosen to write each book about a different set of characters or that is what I am gathering from reading this one. I feel that if I would have read the others first, I would have more in depth knowledge about all the characters. However, that doesn’t diminish this book at all. As a reader you are able to grab ahold of the ideas that the author is putting to paper. You will find yourself cheering on the characters and really feeling their emotions as the book continues. The writing will have you unable to look up from reading and unable to put the book down when you know you should. Each character in this book has struggled in life and reading how they have tried to better themselves individually and then seeing how they could be even better together. The push and pull with the added suspense of the story makes this a very riveting read. All of this with the chemistry of the characters is what is making me binge read the other books in this series.

The Strategist is the 5th book in the WaterFyre Rising book by Nadia Han and can be read as a stand-alone

Arrow Holt- Abused by his alcoholic father for many years. When he got older he gained a fortune selling wine.

Vivian Vo- A dentist who helps families who don’t have insurance get the care they need. She also teaches self-defense classes to help people so they never end up in a situation like she has.

Arrow wants the girl- She rejects him twice but wants him too.
She tries to keep her distance from him, but when their separate missions force them to work together, it makes everything harder. As they work together to find a missing girl and put an end to an international criminal organization they grow closer to one another. Their chemistry together, his understanding of her past and wanting to be there, the healing journey, the drama… just all of it, is off the wall! Such a great read. I will definitely be reading the other 4 books, as well as the 6th book in the series!

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series Book 1)Secrets, Lies and Betrayals by Lynn Wood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an introduction to a new-to-me author, as well as a new series. This is a romantic suspense featuring Lea Milan. Lea was once known as Michaela Manning but due to circumstances that put her in harm’s way, she’s had to change her name. A decades old murder is still haunting her and now that her dad is rising in power, it’s putting all that she’s worked to move past in danger.

This book has a little bit of everything. Mystery, suspense, romance, lies, betrayal, murder, political tones, and more. It’s a very intriguing book that will hook you pretty quickly.

I look forward to the next chapter in this story. I do hope that we will hear more from Max!

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed how they brought the twist and turns to life. I also enjoyed their attention to details that made the characters come to life who pulled you into the story with ease. This is a well written story about Michaela. Her grandfather was assassinated in front of her and almost took her life as well. She has remained hidden for a long time. Now that she is back, she finds herself in the middle of a media mess. Maxwell was head of security back then and has been asked to do security presently. What will happen with the things that are lurking in the shadows? I enjoyed watching the growth from beginning to end of the characters and the plot. The twists and turns will have you coming back for more. This suspenseful story is one you don’t want to miss. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals is the first book in the Protect and Honor Series . This is a Romance Suspense that pulled me in from the beginning and had me on the edge of my seat turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This story is packed with drama, action, suspense , danger, secrets, lies, betrayal and so much more. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written. Michaela Manning is a survivor of terrible tragedies from such a young age, at three years old she witnessed a terrible assassination of her grandfather the state senator and was shot in the process. She’s lived her life in hiding under a different name until her secret identity is leaked. She’s not safe but can Maxwell keep her protected this time? I don’t want to give away anything else. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This is book one of two. It starts off with an assassination of Michaela Manning’s grandfather and a poor 3 year-old Michaela wounded from it. She survived but her life was never the same after that fateful day. Maxwell Cole a former special forces operative was assigned to security on the day that Michaela got shot, in fact he was the one who carried her to waiting medical helicopter. Michaela had to go in to hiding after so she changed her name to Lea Milan. She moved to Paris to make a name for herself. However things have taken a dangerous turn with her father wanting to become POTUS (President of the United States). She is hoping that her new identity will keep her hidden but somehow her secret is revealed but by whom. No one knows but Max will find out who this person is and hopefully stop them from hurting Lea again.

This is an action-packed book full of twists and turns you never see coming…and just when you think you’ve got it figured out…you don’t. This is the fifth book in the WaterFyre Rising series but it was the first one I read and while there were some plot holes (for me because I jumped in way late) I’m going to go back a read the others so that I can fill myself in. I loved the way Han developed her characters and drove her storyline. She grabs you and pulls you in before you even know what hits you. Her characters are just so so deep and you get so attached to them. I really enjoyed this read and I can’t wait to go catch myself up on everything I’ve missed. I really recommend this book (and if the series is anything like it, I’m going to recommend the series as well). Happy Reading!

Good grief talk about a tall drink of water ! Have you drooled all over this cover ?!🔥

Arrow is an ex navy seal now winemaker and between me and you I’m sure we could mulch the grapes into nectar on his abs 🤣🙈🔥 but there’s a darker side to this delectable man , a dude that hides hurt and scars , a side that he’s hidden in a vault and I almost thought he’d never crack that is until a beautiful woman crosses his path , he’s sees the hurt and scars in her and all he wants to do is “ heal” and protect her ( cue deep sigh)

Vivian isn’t just beautiful but she’s smart as well and she’ll keep your pearly whites shiny ( she’s a dentist) she’s not easily swayed by Arrow’s attempts but I must give it to him he’s a determined man and goes after what he wants 🤭😉

Don’t let Vivian fool you she’s also on the hunt for a bad and brutal individual which places her in a very dangerous position but do not fret Arrow is close by and he’s all protector 🔥

This just ticked all my boxes , there was spice , tension , fear , swoon moments and times where I just wanted to push her aside and say “ I’ll have you Arrow” 🥰🤣

A brilliant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read

This book has some great characters and plot line, but I found the pace to be a little slow. There were times I struggled to keep up with what was going on because of all the little details that were being thrown in. They were good details, but I did expect this novel to have some serious action and fast pace to it.

However, overall I enjoyed this book and the characters that the author made relatable. I do hope to see more action out of the next novel, but I also cannot wait to continue the storyline where Lea and Gabriel left off with Maddie.

Welcome to Arrow and Vivian’s story. What a story it is! So intense and so romantic yet so dangerous. Arrow is a retired Navy Seal, that was what caught my eye. Vivian is a dentist and has no time for romance, Arrow is the same no time for romance. But as life would have it these two people are thrown together and are fighting for their lives. Such a fast paced suspenseful story. I loved every page. I could not put this story down. The author has once again brought out the best in her character’s and kept the story going. The story is loaded with all the right feels and is so intense you can’t help but fall in love with both the story, the author and her characters. I recommend you read this series in order, even though this could be a standalone. There is so much to discover and uncover. I am looking forward to book 6 in this series.

This is book one in the Protect and Honor series. The story had me hooked from the beginning. With plenty of suspense and tragedy, lives are changed forever. The political agenda and exposure of a secret life gets thrown into the public. A political thriller with a little bit of romance involved makes for a great novel. I also liked that the main character has my middle name. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next installment.

These two definitely have chemistry between them. Vivian and Arrow, he’s a navy seal with a very haunting past and she’s a dentist who doesn’t make time or have much time for romance. The Strategist: A Forced Proximity Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 5)

I have been in love with this series from the beginning and that hasn’t changed after five books. If anything I think I might be falling a little deeper.

Arrow and Vivian both have scars from their past, some more visible than others. While there is a crazy attraction from the beginning Vivian is on a mission and that is where her focus is.

Arrow didn’t have the easiest childhood but he had his best friends and we know how much they mean when you didn’t have much else. He has really gone above and beyond any expectations anyone could have put on him.

Once again not a dull moment in this story, while the focus was in Arrow and Vivian we get some time with the others. Now to patiently wait until fall for the next book to be released.

Maxwell Cole is the security guy who saved Lea at the age of 3 and he continues to look after her all these years later. Secrets, Lies, and Betrayals: A Maxwell Cole Novel is the first book in the Protect and Honor Series by Lynn Wood. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Wood, so I really didn’t know what I could expect from one of her stories- but as I love a great romantic suspense, I took a chance that this would live up to my expectations and one-clicked a copy to explore.
The story snared my attention right from the beginning, and held me tightly in its grip, right through till the end. It proved to be a tense and engaging romantic suspense with political conspiracies, intrigue, agendas, secrets, betrayals, lies, tragedy, grief, heartache, loss, mystery, danger, dramatic developments, action, emotion, and more. The story is told from multiple points of view, which gives us, the readers, a very in-depth perspective of all the developments.
Lea (Michaela) has experienced much trauma and grief in her short life, surviving against the odds. But her survival has come at a cost- having to live her life in secret, behind an assumed identity. So, what happens when her father’s political aspirations thrust her into the crosshairs of danger once again? Maxwell Cole managed to save her once, many years ago- but things have gotten much more complicated since then, so there’s no guarantee he will be able to save her again this time. So strap yourselves in for a bit of a gripping ride, as Lea faces secrets, lies, betrayals…. And danger- but discovers much along the way.
I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading Book #2. I will say though, as this is supposed to be a ‘Maxwell Cole’ novel, and while he did play a major role in the story, there were only a few chapters from his perspective- and being the first book in the series, I would have liked to have gotten to know him better. But this is just my personal preference and didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. Maybe we will get to ‘hear’ more from him over the course of the series.
Well worth the read.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Lynn Wood!

The Strategist (WaterFyre Rising Book 5) by Nadia Han – Review by Kristin Boutelle

The Strategist (WaterFyre Rising, #5)The Strategist by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the start to finish, this book is very well put together. There is just enough romance and action to keep the reader intrigued. I love how the author intertwines each main character, Vivian and Arrow, in the story. They are in the same social circles without realizing it. I especially like how the characters grow with each other, emotionally and mentally. I highly recommend reading this book.

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series) by Lynn Wood – Review by Kerry Baker

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals (Protect and Honor Series Book 1)Secrets, Lies and Betrayals by Lynn Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the kind of thriller that has you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. The story felt explosive and it pulled me in from the moment I started reading. I loved how the author weaved in the political aspect to the story, it made it so much more relatable in today’s world.
I really connected with the main character. She has already preserved through so much in her life and suffers through so much more during this book. I wanted her to find happiness so much and yet the whole way through this book I wasn’t sure how things would work out. The author has created a gripping story that I could not put down until I had finished it.

Michaela Manning has been living under an assumed name for 20 years. At 3 years old her life is forever changed by a moment of violence. Maxwell Cole, a special forces operative, rushed in to save a young Michaela. Building a life after the tragedy, Lea Milan finds solace and herself in Europe. Away from the political landscape and limelight she finds her art and love. A political decision by her father sets in motion the destruction of her carefully created life. Maxwell Cole has been a constant in Lea’s life. In charge of her personal security for years and part of Leah’s chosen family. Will he be able to help guide Lea through this terrible journey once again? Will Lea be able to resurrect herself once again? Will her family and chosen loved ones be able to help her through another tragedy?

I really enjoyed this political thriller. With so much political unrest in the USA this really hits home about the secrets and lies that politicians tell their public and themselves. Lea’s story contains great tragedies but also her perseverance and strength which helps her regain her life and herself.
I can’t wait to jump into the next book in the Protect and Honor Series. So glad we get to see more of Maxwell Cole!
