Homicidal Innocence is an intense very well-crafted psychological thriller with a little added romance. So well done that even when I was sure I had it figured out I was wrong. I did a lot of second guessing on this one. Characters are well written, likeable even. This book was so twisted, yet all the twists and turns were done so nicely, so complex and intense that I felt on the edge of my seat most of the time. I can definitely say one of the top books I have read this year.

Boy, did I like this one. As a romantic suspense, I couldn’t help but be hooked from the minute Donny came over to them on the playground and wanted to build sand castles with them. From that moment on, the intrigue was there. What’s with the mystery man? I thought he might be the baddie but no, he has mystery of his own. Creepo is out there hunting the women. This will get you with twists and turns. As a thriller, it’s fabulous, I found my self holding my breath waiting for this weirdo to pop out. This is one of my favorites for the year. These are amazing characters. I absolutely loved how the author set up the story right from the start. The premise of the story was great for a thriller/romantic suspense. She is a new author to me and I hope to read more from her. Fantastic.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The characters were well developed and relatable. The plot was thicker than Maya. The twists and turns along the way kept me on the edge of the page wanting more.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were a few uncomfortable moments where Maya’s weight was mentioned more than I felt was necessary and some of the thought processes were odd for the situation. Overall, I would highly recommend. I loved the back and forth between characters and the different point of views. I loved the POV of the suspect; it gave a different vibe and insight to the story that I feel added a lot to the plot. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

Truly loved this! Loved how we knew the characters from book 1 so it was easy to follow, but still no cliff hangers. However, stuff that you know still needs to be tied up. I love getting to know these tribe men & the origins of them but also their love interests 😊 Hoping she does a book for each of the tribe men but also gets deeper into the topics. I have been eagerly awaiting this book as I loved the first in the series! I was so excited to pick it up and dive right in as soon as I got home. In this one, we get to learn about Sylvan and TB. It turns out that they are my new favorite people! I still love the entire Deadman’s Tribe team and their witty banter, but the protectiveness that TB shows for Sylvan is lovely and refreshing. Both of their pasts are heartbreaking and may be what keeps them apart…but what if it brings them together? I will reveal zero spoilers in this review because this was an absolutely phenomenal read! As always, mind the trigger warnings to inform yourself. I appreciate the author’s thoughtfulness to include that. I also loved that this book was slightly longer side as I couldn’t get enough! I highly recommend giving this book a read if you enjoy a good romantic suspense book with some wonderful spicy scenes. I bet you’ll find yourself lost in their world almost as quickly as I was! Bring on the next book!

As much as I loved the first book in this series I think this one is even better. The sparks between TB and Sylvin and Nemo’s antics made it an entertaining read.
I absolutely loved TB from the beginning even though I really shouldn’t have until much later. There was something about this giant man that drew me in, then throw is how he was way Sylvin and I was hooked.
Sylvin earned a special place too because of what she does and how amazing and creative she is.
This book had me laughing one minute, usually when Nemo was involved but also Sylvin and Kai made me laugh too. Then gasping or on the edge of my seat as everything went down. Each character from main to supporting is great and so well developed.
Each installment so far has their happy ending but I highly suggest you read Kai and Water’s story first. It will introduce you to the guys of Tribe.

Bad Enough is book number two in The Deadman’s Tribe. In Bad Enough the main characters could not be anymore different than an author who writes paranormal romances, but wants to get into more heavier novels like BDSM, and a alpha, military, bad boy who participates in kidnappings, interrogations, and making people disappear. Sylvan and TB had great chemistry. It was a spicy, unfiltered, well written romantic suspense novel, with characters that were super interesting, and a storyline that I couldn’t get enough of.

Homicidal Innocence by V.J. Lee – Review by Sue Kemp This is the first book I have read by VJ Lee, and I have to say that I enjoyed the book from start to finish. If you are some one who loves a thriller with romance chucked in to the mix, then I would highly suggest you read this book. This book has some good twists and turns that it will keep you guessing what is going to happen next. Do not be fooled to think you have worked certain parts of the book all worked out, as the book will prove you wrong. This being my first book by VJ Lee, and I do not normally read thrillers I found the way the book was written held my attention from the second chapter until the end of the book. I do feel that Maya’s weight could have been dealt with once and then forgotten about. That is my only gripe about the book. I am looking forward to reading more of VJ Lee’s work in the future. I am giving this book a 4-star rating.

This book is by an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. I enjoy her writing style and her ability to bring her character’s to life. She pulls you into the story with ease and keeps you turning pages to the end. This book is no different. It is a well written story about healing, second chances and the past comes to the present, pulling you back in. I enjoyed the characters and what they brought to the story. They are connectable, relatable and have great chemistry. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. A fast paced, hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

TB and the Tribe is back in book 2. This time, they are called in after several young women have gone missing from a local club. Kai wants his best friend protected, and it just so happens to be Sylvan. TB knows Sylvan from helping her research BDSM and dom/sub relationships for her next book, and they have both begun to develop feelings – but TB is unsure of what to do when his 2 worlds collide. As her stalker tightens his circle around her, they have to learn to trust one another to keep her safe.
In the midst of it all, the dialogue is so much fun to read, the relationships amongst the Tribe are a brotherhood, the chemistry between TB and Sylvan is incredible, and I’m rushing off to read the rest of the series! Great world building, great heat, great fun and great suspense.

Another enjoyable and engaging story in this series and once again I was hooked throughout. Sylvan Jones is a romance novelist and a ‘good’ girl whilst information-specialist TB is definitely a ‘bad’ boy. When the two meet their chemistry sizzles off the page, leading to some steamy scenes. TB and the team are hired by a wealthy Silicon Valley tech mogul when his daughter goes missing. She’s the fifth girl to have been taken from a local club, and the team must investigate to find her. It becomes personal for TB when Sylvan becomes the abductor’s next victim. Both of them are keeping secrets and must decide what to do when these are discovered. I found TB and Sylvan to be likeable and relatable characters and I liked how their relationship developed throughout the story. This fast paced story had plenty of drama, suspense and of course romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. I felt invested in TB and Sylvan’s relationship and was hoping they would get their HEA.

Wow Nicole, you did it again! I started crying during the dedication so you can say I had some high expectations for the book. After reading the first in this series, I know I was hooked and this second book did not disappoint. TB can be a tough guy to handle, even for his teammates. And Sylvan is so closed off from the world, separating herself on purpose. At times they are so similar it is obvious how they understand one another without words and can understand one another in ways that no one else can. The way the team comes together to support one another and truly playing off each of their strengths makes it obvious why they work so well together. I am even more anxious for the 3rd book than I was for this one!

Bad Enough (The Deadman’s Tribe Series Book 2) by Nicole Craig – Review by Sue Kemp I have not read a book for quite some time, so to come back to read this great book was a treat, there is approximately 420 pages to be delighted with. I have not read book one in this series, but I am going have in order get the background on the characters. We have our two main characters Sylvan who decided to write a book on BDSM and our wonderful TB who is a Dom. To get the information, she needed to write her new book she was put in touch with TB. Now both characters could not be more worlds apart in their lifestyles if they tried. Do not be mistaken with TB being a Dom underneath his tough exterior he has such a gentle heart that makes you just want to get to know him more. Sylvan has such a gentle nature, which would make any man want to care for her. This book is not filtered in certain areas of the book, but it has been so beautifully written you will just want to keep turning the pages to see what is coming up next ion the plot. Let us not also forget the team at Tribe I found these characters miss matched and yet they gel together perfectly as a team, they are a family. If you want an enjoyable read this is the book for you.

All I can say is get ready, get tissues and get settled. You will be here for the long run. That is just my opinion as that is what happened to me. This is TB and Sylvan’s story. What a story it is as well. Plenty to keep you reading and the twists and turns will keep the story intriguing. He is an information specialist and she is a romance writer. The couple meet online and that is all I will tell you. This is my first book from this author. WOW she is quite the writer. She keeps her readers guessing and stuck in the moment. Making this a must read. Please take the time to read book 1 in this series, as there is plenty to build up to book 2. Now I have to go get book 1, read it and then read book 2 to prepare for book 3. Be prepared as this is NOT for those under 18.

Bad Enough is the second engrossing instalment in The Deadman’s Tribe by Nicole Craig. This series is definitely getting better with each new instalment- as Ms. Craig ups the anti on this second instalment, This is a complex, cleverly woven romantic suspense with multi layers, intriguing developments, and a stellar cast. So if you love those protective alpha-type MCs, security personnel/military element, dramatic developments, twisty plots, intensity, chemistry, sparks, danger, violence, tension, mystery, secrets, action, banter, team dynamics, emotion, adventure- then you should definitely snap up a copy of this to read asap. Again, as with the first book, I loved how well-developed the characters were, as Ms. Craig proves to have a talent for crafting fully-realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws, and making them ‘real’, believable, and with ‘that’ certain quality that makes them so easy to invest in. An alternating, duel POV also added depth and intrigue to the story, and I loved being privy to the characters perspective and inner dialogue- as again, it really added an extra element of interest to the whole story. If the first two books are anything to go by, and the fact that I am now a little addicted to the Deadman’s Tribe, and Nicole Craig’s storytelling, I am really hoping that this is going to be a loooooong series. Bad Enough is the second book in The Deadman’s Tribe Series and is a Romantic Suspense that pulled me in from the beginning kept me turning the pages till the end. This opposites attract with a few twists and turns will have lost in the pages till the end. These two are so different but at the same time there not. This is a fast paced story about Sylvan who is a romance writer and doesn’t know what being bad is . She’s a good girl who does all things good but when she starts to research and starts online chatting with TB things are about to change. TB is an information Specialist who is also a bad boy. When TB and the rest of the crew are hired to find the daughter of a Silicon Valley Tech Mogul things get interesting quick. Can TB protect Sylvan? Can these two set differences aside and have what they both want? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m already looking forward to reading more from this Author.

DAAAAAAANNNNNNGGGGGG! This one nearly melted my phone!!! Where do I start….6’ 7”, ripped, warm eyes, deep growly voice, a DOMinating personality! I was hooked from the beginning. The comical bonus of Sylvan’s non-swearing swearing combined with Kai’s brilliant use of actual swear words had me chuckling out loud, getting looks from the husband. I was hooked on this series with Kai and Waters. Now, there is no tearing me away. Plus Nemo’s story next??!! Oh, yeah! I am forever Tribe.
TB knew his life was never going to be the same after a suicide bomber took the lives of his parents when he was 7. He had to fight to stay alive until he turned 18. The military offered him a chance at a family, a team, belonging. But even that didn’t turn out the way he expected it to when his abilities got him pulled into special teams services, away from his found family. Now, he understands that he is cold, sadistic, cruel, and mostly devoid of any humanity whatsoever. That is just who he is.
Sylvan is not like everyone else. She didn’t grow up like everyone else. Sylvan broke away from her past and never wants to revisit it. But it wants her back. A demon from her past has resurfaced and now she is in danger. Sylvan just also happens to be Kai “Kubrick” Serrano’s best friend. So, Kubrick calls in Waters which leads back to Tribe. Well, that is not the only link back to Tribe but that hasn’t come out yet.

Bad Enough (The Deadman’s Tribe Series Book 2) by Nicole Craig. This is a great 2nd book in the Deadman’s Tribe series. Its about Sylvan Jones who is a romance writer and in this new book she is venturing into the world of BDSM. She is given a anonymous mentor thru a chat group so that she can learn about the lifestyle. The mentor she is given is TB and he is very interested in this woman named “Flame” whom he is chatting with. The more he talks with her the more he wants her. TB (Lobo) is an IT specialist and when he and his team get hired to look for a missing girl which is the 5th girl to go missing in the same manner. When TB (Lobo) and Sylvan meet in real life to work on the missing girls case their feelings only become stronger. This book was really good because it didn’t just focus on the romance it had a lot of action and mystery which I love. Will Lobo and Sylvan realize what they have is special and will they find the missing girls before Sylvan finds herself one of the victims? Read this fast paced romance to find out!

Super second story in the series! I was at a little hesitant because of the Dom/sub lifestyle but there was not a lot of that. Once I got past that the rest was amazing! Sylvan is so much more than just a writer. She is a surprise at one time or another. I do like how she is able to learn to let herself go. TB…I learned soooo much about him! The changes he makes are impressive. I really like these two together! They are magic together. The story kept me going and once things heated up I could not stop turning pages.
The Tribe!! OMG! They are incredible! They have quite the camaraderie and made me laugh out loud but also watching them work just together like family. That Nemo!! I can not wait for his story! He is going down hard.

This book is a brillaint opposites attract Romance story that is exciting and action packed. I loved reading about TB and Sylvan. Although they are completely different from each other they have such obvious chemistry. Their connection caught my attention and really pulled me into the story. I loved the fact that this book wasn’t just about the romance. It is a fast paced story that was intriguing and easily kept my turning the pages. This author really knows how to create brilliant stories. I have never read one of hers that I don’t like and this one is probably on of my favourites.

This is the second book in The Dead man’s Tribe Series. This books are great. They are romance suspense reads with a strong alpha male which I love. This story has got elements that kept me reading long into the night, from steamy romance, danger, angst and twists and turns which kept me hooked all the way through. Sylvan is a romance writer. She has always been about HEA’s however she is still to find her own. For her next book she wants to explore new avenues so she is put into contact with a Dom called Lobo to help with her research of the scene.
TB(LoBo) is an IT specialist. Him and the Tribe team get hired to look for a missing girl. This girl is the 5th one to go missing. As this case progresses and TB and Sylvan’s relationship gets closer, TB realises that she could be the next one on the kidnappers hit list. But when Sylvan starts to hold things and information back TB makes it his mission to get to the truth and protect the women who dispite his best efforts he is falling for.
Both Sylvan and TB have both had past traumas that still affects them to the present day. Sylvan is a good girl, TB is a bad boy. They are so opposite do they even stand a chance of working? And with the added danger of someone who may want to cause Sylvan harm will she be able to trust TB enough so that he can protect her? I really enjoy these books and I can’t wait to see what the author has planned for us next.

Homicidal Innocence by V.J. Lee is a gripping and twisty little romantic suspense that had me intrigued right from the outset. This was quite an intense ‘introduction’ to Ms. Lee’s storytelling, as I had never read any of her work before, but now that I have a taste, I will certainly be coming back for more. I am a sucker for a great psychological thriller/suspense story, and throw in some gritty tension, twists, and some sizzle- and I am all in. This promised all that and more- and I have to say that the author delivered on the promises held in the synopsis. Maya works as a live-in nanny in a very affluent and ‘exclusive’ gated community where lots of dark secrets are hidden. Things take a darker and sinister turn when a serial killer seems to be using the area as his hunting grounds. Several beautiful young women have vanished, and bodies of other young women are being discovered after being tortured and then brutally murdered. Detective Cole Silverthorne is determined to hunt down the killer before things get even more grim. But there is a bit of a tangle web to unravel in order to get to the bottom of things- which won’t be easy. Things are far more complicated than he can imagine. And the stakes are only going to get higher. Add in some danger, drama, edge of your seat developments, and clever, unexpected twists which all come together seamlessly to make for quite a gripping read. The story is told from several POVs, which gives us, the readers, a deeper perspective and appreciation of what is going on. It definitely made my reading experience even more intriguing- especially since we also get to ‘hear’ from X, the serial killer. But Ms. Lee doesn’t make things too easy to unravel, keeping a tight rein on my attention and keeping me guessing the whole way through. Even when I thought I knew what was going on, she would then throw something in the mix that had me second-guessing everything all over again. So why have I rated this 3.5 stars instead of 5, you might wonder. Well, the story itself was well woven and the ‘mystery/suspense’ side of things was clever and tense- which is fantastic- and the characters are complex, well-developed individuals who brought the whole story to life—– BUT, there were a few ‘minor’ issues that I had with character ‘attitudes/thoughts/dialogue etc, which all combined to affect my rating. Plus, there were quite a few moments where Maya’s weight was mentioned (usually in a derogatory manner) and it became a little uncomfortable to read those comments/thoughts, and seemed repetitive after a while. I appreciate that Cole liked a ‘curvy’ woman- but we are told that Maya is a curvy size 14 – which is not really big, or plus size in my opinion. It is a healthy, normal weight for a ‘normal’ woman. She is ‘happy’ with her size and weight- so I don’t understand why her weight was such a factor. Yes, mention it in passing maybe, but I just felt uncomfortable for her after a while. Which affected my reading experience. I should have been focusing on the well-crafted suspense, which I did do to a degree, but the uncomfortable feeling never left and was always in the back of my mind, the whole way through. But, putting that aside as a ‘me’ thing/issue- like I said earlier, now that I have a taste for Ms. Lee’s work, I will definitely be going back for more. Happy Reading…

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals is Book 1 of the Protect and Honor Series and this is also a new author to me. I was already intrigued by the cover and the synopsis and definitely not disappointed. This story gave me everything I love about a book that grabs you right from the beginning of page one. Secrets, betrayal, danger, action and you wonder what is the truth….this is a great book and I highly recommend.
How much danger can you be in living behind a secret identity because you have to? Michaela, now Lea, knows all about this as she had no choice in the matter when she herself got in the crosshairs of a political assassination of her grandfather. With that, Maxwell Cole was there on that fateful day, saving Michaela when she was in grave danger. Years go by…then Lea’s father makes a fateful decision that impacts her as well…..this really causes turmoil and when secrets are discovered….Lea is the middle of the chaos. Will Maxwell Cole be able to protect her again when she needs him…..
This story had me at the edge of my seat!! Great story and looking forward to more of this series!

This is my first book I have read by this author. She didn’t disappoint. The author grabs your attention from the very beginning. The story had me on edge and had me kept reading to know what happened next. This is definitely a page turner. If you love a suspenseful romance, I highly recommend reading this book.
