Caught in Midnight Shadows (The Caught Series Book 4) by Sharleen Scott – Review by Bethany Rollins

Caught in Midnight Shadows (Caught series, #4)Caught in Midnight Shadows by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caught in the Midnight Shadows is a great romantic suspense about Brant and Aubrey. Upon her mysterious death, Brant’s mom left him with her final words of “find him and make it right”. This sets Brant on his goal to find a mysterious drifter on the Oregon coast. Here is where he meets Aubrey and is immediately swept into her life. Aubrey has just lost her aunt and is set on leaving Oregon on a motorcycle ride not sure if she will ever return. These two are drawn to each other although they both know that this will be a temporary love affair. As they get closer, a stalker surfaces in Oregon that may be a part of the troubles from Brant’s Wyoming home.
This is a very fast read that pulls you in with the wonderful characters and well-crafted suspense. I was absorbed in the multiple layers that Sharleen Scott was able to weave into the plot. The family relationships in this book were also well portrayed and I really admire Ms. Scotts delivery in portraying this type of character. Highly recommend!

Check Out (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Check OutCheck Out by Debra Parmley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I truly enjoyed Check Out by Debra Parmley. It felt like I was treating myself to read it.

Betsy is a librarian in her local library. She has some trouble getting along with her family and struggles with her past. Nash is an injured veteran suffering from PTSD from his time in the military – he is new in town, jaded, and mysterious. They are interested in one another, but Betsy thinks it is best to wait to get to know each other better while she awaits a visit from her younger sister, Leeann. Once her sister shows up with news she may have a stalker, we find the catalyst that draws Nash and Betsy to one another.

I’d like to see where the relationship between Nash and Betsy goes, as the book ends pretty abruptly. That being said, this was a good read with characters that drew me in and kept me interested. It is pretty quick to get through, and the author has a 2nd book in the series that extends into a story with Leeann after this ends. I will continue to read Debra Parmley!

Check In (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 2) by Debra Parmley – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Check InCheck In by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Check In offers suspense, romance, camaraderie, a POV of someone with some past trauma due to being in the military and the things he saw, and great pointers on what you need to pay attention to in the case of a crime being committed around you. The characters are likeable and relatable. I didn’t care for the implication that the robbers were not sober, but it wasn’t overtly stated.

Len and Leann offered a lot of input via their inner voices, which was a nice way to explain a lot of backstory and former trauma, why they react the way that they do, as well as show the ways they complement each other. This is a quick, easy read – can definitely put it away in one sitting. I enjoy Debra Parmley’s use of detail to draw you in, and am looking forward to seeing more from this author.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is book two by Amy McKinley in the Mafia Elite series. I absolutely loved the first book and the second one did not disappoint! This story follows Sofia and Enzo in an epic friends to lovers romance. I loved both of these characters so much, they fought so hard for each other during the entire story and I’m so glad they got their ending! Just like the first one this book had me on the edge of my seat. It was exciting, spicy and you could feel the emotion coming off the pages. Their willingness to sacrifice so much for each other had me wanting to sob at certain points. Amy McKinley knocked another one out of the park with this!

This book was so sweet! The characters were so relatable, and I loved watching the relationships build. Leann’s growth was amazing to watch! Seeing the very real responses to the conflict was just amazing to read. Honestly though, the story just gave me warm fuzzies seeing the relationships and growth happening!

One word, Wow! No Way Out by Amy McKinley was an absolute fantastic read. No Way Out follows Max and Liliana and their Mafia families. Adventure, romance, surprises and more awaits you in the book so much so that I could not put it down. The story was seemless as it transitioned between Max’s and Liliana’s views and there was a moment that I wasn’t constantly wanting more.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is the second book in the Mafia Elite Series and a good follow-up to No Way Out! I loved the connection between the two main characters but felt like the overall story was missing something. I wish there was a book in between the first and second to give us more background as to what happened to Enzo’s sister, Emilianna, to get a better understanding of the dynamic between the Mafia families. However, I loved Sofia’s feistiness and bravery and I loved the fact that Enzo cared so deeply for her. I am looking forward to reading more by this author!

Caught in Midnight Shadows is the fourth book in The Caught Series by Sharleen Scott. This is another fantastic romantic suspense, with danger, drama, intrigue, tension, mystery, suspense, chemistry, surprising developments, and action.
I can always count on Ms. Scott to deliver a very intriguing story and this one certainly lived up to expectations- pulling me in right from the very beginning. The intriguing nature of the story had me trying to figure out what was going on, and completely immersed in the story.
The mystery and suspense were done really well done, with plenty of tension which gave it a bit of a sinister and gripping vibe. A tightly woven plot with clever touches full of dramatic developments that had me on the edge of my seat, reading avidly to discover how it would all play out.
Looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us next….
Highly recommended!

Check In is the second book in The Bobbins Sisters series by Debra Parmley. This is a romantic suspense story with drama, mystery, and intrigue.
I hate to say this, as I know how much time, energy, heart, and soul authors put into their work- but I really found it difficult to connect with the story and the characters. There was something missing for me. I felt it needed to be a little more dramatic, with more tension, intensity, and chemistry for this story/series to really grab my attention. I found my interest and attention wandering and had to really force myself to stay focused. I prefer the story to grab me and pull me in so deep that I lose all sense of time and place. This story wasn’t that for me.
But please don’t let my opinion put you off reading the book/series because plenty of readers would probably really enjoy this book. It’s just that I like my romantic suspense/mysteries to be a little meatier.
I will come back and re-read this book again in a few weeks just to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was having a bad reading day when I picked this up.

Thank you, Debra Parmley!

This book and series are must reads!!! Seriously so amazing!! Blood Oath is the second book in the Mafia Elite series, a series that I would recommend reading in order for full reading enjoyment.

This storyline is action-packed, intense, twisted, unexpected and truly entertaining. The characters always have me feeling so intrigued and captivated, just like with the first book I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. This author writes with so much detail that I found myself fully immersed in the story and unable to put it down.

Even though I just finished book 2 I am already looking forward to reading the next book of the series asap!

Check In (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 2) by Debra Parmley – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Book two in the ‘Bobbins Sisters Series’ tells younger sister Leann’s story. Having met Leann Bobbin in book one, which concentrated on older sister Betsy, I was looking forward to her having her own romance. Leann is getting over her recent trauma of having a stalker and has started a new job at the bank. Having recently split up with her boyfriend she’s not looking for love, but when she meets Bartlett Police Officer Leonard Yardley, she’s instantly attracted to him. When a bank robbery takes place, Leann hides and then calls Len for help and this brings the couple closer together. I enjoyed this fairly short romance with added suspense and read it in one sitting. I liked ‘catching up’ with characters from the previous book Betsy and Nash, and it was nice to learn more about Leann. The characters are likeable and relatable and the chemistry between Leann and Len came across in the narrative. This was an enjoyable and engaging quick read.

This was a very intense story. You have romance, suspense, action, and some family drama; who needs more for a pretty good story. Brent and Aubrey are both coming from some intense family issues. Having to deal with issues on his ranch all he wants is to have his family safe. He heads out to Oregon to solve the mystery of what his mom’s note meant. Aubrey is Aubrey, you’ll have to read the story to understand. Together, they deal with a crazy dude stalking them and Brant finding family members he never knew. These two seemed to be made for each other. The story brought them together in such a realistic way. The book is is so well-written that every thing flows smooth and you can just read the story without feeling lost. That’s one of my favorite things about a book. It’s a story you really should read. Give it a shot. I recommend it.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. This is the 2nd book to the Mafia Elite series and it does not disappoint. Enzo and Sofia are best friends since childhood and their feelings for each other were always strong. When tragedy struck, Enzo distanced himself from Sofia, but only to protect her, even from himself.

Things get very tense when Sofia is threatened by Ivan, whom is part of the Russian Bratva. He is ruthless and cunning and only wants to “break” Sofia. Enzo will do anything to make sure Sofia stays safe. Will Enzo save Sofia when she needs him the most?

There are some deep secrets in this story along with some very intense shootout and rescue scenes. I was at the edge of my seat just nervous and tense to find out what will happen next. This story is truly great. I am so looking forward to book #3. Thank you Author Amy McKinley!! Love this book!

Blood Oath was a good read. This is the second book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. I enjoyed this book but it felt a little off to me. It took me a while to get into this one, and it felt like there was a lot of book story missing. Like there was another series before this one, and not just one book. The characters were great, and I was engaged and had some laughs and thrills. I just wasn’t as into this book as I wanted to be and I hate that. Maybe it was an off day of reading for me but this one just hasn’t been my favorite and I love McKinley’s books so much, so I was disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this one as much. Hopefully the next one will be better for me!

Book 2 has arrived and its just as amazing as book 1!We meet Sofia and Enzo, and follow their love. Friends from childhood to now there is a lot to their story. Sofia an upcoming fashion designer and Enzo an heir to the Mafia throne. So much is thrown their way, but their love soldiers in. This book has so much action, suspense, drama, intrigue, love, lust, and of course secrets.

Second book in Amy McKinley’s amazing series and I can’t get enough. I was reading, rapidly turning the pages, soaking in the action, drama and suspense. Loved the characters, loved the world building and loved the storyline. This book follows Sofia and Enzo, told in dual POV and continues on from the heart-stopping events from the first book. Highly recommend reading the first book before this one as it really helps with the backstory. Now to wait patiently for book 3.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is the second book in Amy McKinley’s exciting Mafia Elite series. The series focuses on the Italian American mafia, with book 2 focusing on different characters than book 1 (No Way Out) but with familiar characters returning on the sideline.
Sofia, our heroine in this book, is a fashion designer as well as being a mafia “princess”. So we get a fun insight into the fashion world, with her preparations for Milan fashion week. She’s defiantly independent – driving those who are meant to be protecting her up the wall! I particularly liked her friendship with Katya – against her family’s wishes, but definitely proving to her advantage!
The narrative swaps between Sofia and Enzo’s perspectives. This is particularly effective as Sofia is privy to some big secrets that Enzo knows nothing about. It’s fun seeing both sides of the story!
A word of warning: don’t read this book when you’re meant to be paying attention to your surroundings! I nearly missed my stop on the train I was so engrossed in this book! So read it somewhere safe where you can afford to lose track of time…
This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend starting with book 1 but McKinley gives readers enough background (and a handy character list) that you should be able to keep up if you come in at book 2.

Amy McKinley has done it again! This is the second story in the Mafia Elite series, and I think it was even better than the first. Definitely recommend reading the first book so get a more in depth background and love of the characters, but I don’t think its strictly necessary. There are so many characters that it took me a little bit into this book to remember exactly who they all were! Thank heavens for the list of names and families at the start of the book! All the characters are relatable, the story is a roller coaster, and I did not want to put down! I love a good friend to lovers, so this is definitely my favorite so far. I cannot wait for her next book!
