Liliana is a mafia princess in a gilded cage waiting to be used as a pain to help her father. But when she gets a new guard, that all soon changes.
From the very first chapter you are drawn in and getting the POV of both Liliana and Max keeps you reading non stop. Liliana is not a helpless princess but quite the opposite. She and her best friends, Em and Sofia really steal the show and I can’t wait to read their stories.

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 1) by Amy McKinley
She did it again, she got me hooked from the very beginning and refused to let me go until the book was done.
I read this book in the car as we drove out of town, read it while I was at a book signing (taking a much needed break from peopling) and finished it instead of watching football.
I was instantly drawn to Matteo/Max, but not sure what it was. Yeah the bad boys are hot but it wasn’t it. Something about him spoke to me and I couldn’t learn enough about him.
Liliana is not someone you want to mess with and we got acquainted with the reasons pretty quick.
There are twists and turns, romance and of course suspense. I have read several books by Ms. McKinley and have yet to be disappointed. I don’t know if I will be patient while waiting for the next book to be released.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. Every time I thought that it was getting some where or I know what was happening, there was another twist in the story. It was so well written I really thought that what I was reading is what happened, but boy was I wrong. This book was so good I really want to more, that I will be looking into other books that she has written. Such and amazing suspenseful, twisted book that I loved. It seemed like nothing was going right for Camille, and then when she is getting involved with a family where the wife is missing, I really thought that it couldn’t get worse, but this book kept me guessing for sure. It is a must read if you like crime.

Camille Thurston’s had some rough times recently both in her personal and professional life. During a particularly exhausting case, she decides to move in with her brother and his family. Camille is a likable character with a thirst for justice and the truth that drives the story. The story itself is multidimensional in both the mystery-aspect and world-building the author sets up. If you like well-rounded characters, mysteries, twists and turns, you’ll love Murder Among Friends.

I rather enjoy a good mafia romance. This book is a fun read. The story was fast-paced and action-packed. Max and Lil are so cute together. The plot kept me entertained without the book. McKinley created a great world that I look forward to seeing expanded on.

When I began No Way Out by Amy McKinley, the family tree in the beginning intimidated me with the number of characters in these mafia families. I was nervous I would not be able to keep up with character transitions. Thankfully, I only had to maintain a handful of them to follow this storyline. I did enjoy this story but it was not a favorite from this author, as I’ve read several of her books. The main characters were just both ok to me while I was more intrigued with Liliana’s best friends and Max’s cousins. Hopefully we get more details from these supporting characters in future installments of this series. This was a fast paced story that kept you involved to the end. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one of this series.

Whew! This book has you all over the place trying to figure out what happened to Grant’s wife when she mysteriously disappeared one morning. Everyone around her seemed to have a motive to make her disappear, and her own behavior has you trying to guess if she just took off on her own. Cammy, who’s worked as a PI in Boston, but decides to take a break from that to spend the summer with her brother’s family, gets caught up in the mystery as her police officer brother works to solve the case. The way the author unravels the story with twists and turns along the way draws you in and keeps you completely engrossed until the very end. There’s also a bit of romance, which weaves into the story naturally. This book is like an onion with the different layers to it, and the author does a fabulous job of peeling them back little by little to build a story that makes it difficult to put down.

This book was so interesting! It was an amazing cross between Suspense and romance and it pulled me into the story and didn’t let me go until the very end. I enjoyed the main characters and the mysterious element that the story had. This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes a good mysterious suspenseful Romance! Happy Reading!

This book was a lot of fun! The amount of mystery, suspense, and romance rounded everything out perfectly. I have read a few of Ms. Burson’s books already, and her talent at captivating her readers and drawing them is amazing. In the story we meet Camille, and she’s just trying to take a brief time away from her hectic life. When she goes to her brothers summer home in Connecticut she gets more than she bargained for on what should be her brief hiatus. As a private investigator when a case comes around it’s hard to ignore and not jump in, and that’s what happens with Camille. When a woman goes missing her and her brother Zachary who is a cop team up and start their search. The brother and sister make quite a team with their skills as well as humorous banter. This book has many moments that are unpredictable, and the plot consistently twists and turns to keep you guessing. I can say my true favorite part of this book is Camille and Grant however. Who doesn’t love a little love and a mystery?

This was the first novel I’ve read by Linda Burson, but it certainly won’t be the last! I love the way she writes. The characters are all so well fleshed out and I enjoyed getting to know all of them. Typically I’m not a fan of much romance, but she made it work very well. I will definitely be reading more of her work!

While I’m not typically a slow burn romance reader, I loved this one because the character details were so real and I was sucked into learning about them and before I knew it, I was into the romance part. I love love LOVED how their relationship in the beginning was burning but they also had a slight dislike for each other. Maybe its the enemy to lovers that I love but regardless, I think tis a great start to the series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!

This storyline was captivating with both mystery and romance unraveling with each page. I felt as invested as those actually investigating while trying to sort out the truth along side them. This book turned out to be more of a page turner than anticipated with a nice balance of love, concern and mystery til the end. I also felt the honesty within the storyline was a nice touch.

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Barbara Stegall I so enjoyed getting to know Max and Liliana. They make a great power couple. Amy is still hurting from the tragedy year’s ago, it hurts even more that she feel responsible and that she is estranged from family but will this next assignment help her bury some of the demons from her past.
Amy is still looking for the person who killed her sister but when she gets intel which sends her back to Atlanta will she be able to overcome the pain and try and find who actually hurt her. Amy also is trying to reconnect with her Brother-in-law so she can at least reconnect with her niece who she loves dearly.
As she goes through the investigation more things come to the front and can she piece them together to get to the bottom of the it all.
I came into this story without reading the first book and although I caught up on the story I still felt that I would have benefited from reading the first book as some timelines overlap, but saying that it did not distract from this book at all. The character of Amy was driven and brilliant, I loved the way she pushed through the horrendous trials she had in her past to try and get to the truth and solve her sisters murder.
The secondary characters where great and really enhanced the story and had you engaged from the first word to the last. I can’t wait to read more books by the author.

I was there to protect the main man’s daughter but in the end I could not just walk away when it was over.
Max is a bad a## assassin and has a plan but putting that plan into place could be tricky, but Max never thought his plan would come unstuck by a woman. Although by the end Lily is not just any woman she is the one who holds his heart.
Lilliana is a princess in a world of pain and horror, she is only a possession to her father and a pawn in his deadly game within the mafia. She is determined to leave but under the rules of the group she has to be released and that normally means trading one prison for another prison but in walks Max as her bodyguard but can he be her escape?
I love this author, there is nothing this woman writes that does not have you eagerly turning the pages to read what will be uncovered within the story. I feel that all her female characters have this air of vulnerability but also underneath the surface is a strong, powerful characters which Lilliana is definitely. With the chemistry between the two main characters just jumps off the page and you are willing them through the distractions that come up in the book along the way.
The story is a powerful one and the way Amy weaves through all the horrors and tension to create a love story is brilliantly and a is a great addition to the new series.

Max is not who Lily thought he was. Can she forgive Max when she learns the truth from him? Read the book to find out!

No Way Out by Amy McKinley a strong five-star read. This is number one in the Mafia Elite series, and it shows us what a great author we have here and also what a great series this promises to be. Liliana what a great character she is, but she has her own surprises, one being the strength of character she shows, but she has more that just her strength. Max was sublime, he also has surprises and secrets, this took me a while to get properly stuck into, but my goodness once I was stuck, I couldn’t be separated from this story. I was so gutted when this ended, I was sat wishing there were a hundred more pages as I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet.

This was my first ever mafia romance book. I loved it. It not only gave me a glimpse into the mafia world, but it also made me want to read the rest of the series. Liliana is a mafia princess whose dad views her more as property than his daughter. Max is a bodyguard who wants to protect her full-heartedly. No Way Out is a good intro to mafia romance.

Liliana is a mafia princess. Her dad is the boss, her mom dead. Dad only sees Liliana as a pawn to get what he wants and to further his buisness holdings. When Matt (Max) comes on to dad’s employ, he works to get LIliana out. Matt is really under the employ of Liliana’s grandfather who desperately wants her away from her dad and returned to him. Opinion In the beginning of the book was a family tree (of sorts) to all of the mafia’s in Chicago. There are five. While this is extremely helpful for the book, I was daunted reading it before I even read any of the book. I did refer back to it from time to time to help me get some perspective. Liliana also alludes to the death of her friend, Marissa. She does it often enough that I checked to see if there was another book in the series. I did not find one and believe that McKinley was just offering a back story. I personally would have preferred a prelogue because I was a bit confused as to whether I should already know it or not. The book itself was fast paced and kept me on the seat of my pants wondering what was going to happen next. There was plenty of action for what you would expect of a mafia novel as well as angst and love. I truly enjoyed reading this book.

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Allyson Ware
I have never read a Mafia type or related book before. I never would have even considered it, but this drew my attention the minute I read the description. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Liliana is not what you expect out of a Mafia boss’s daughter, she’s better. She’s who I want to be when I grow up. She’s confident, intelligent, and just downright sexy.
Then you meet Max, her bodyguard. There is something about him that you cannot help but trust from the first time you meet him. As you make your way through the book, you realize your instincts are correct about Max. If you’re like me, you end up falling for him; possibly harder than Liliana does. Trust me, there’s No Way Out of staying up all night to finish this book.

Unsettled Scores is the second book in the DAG Team Series. The twists and turns of the plot line make this book a great read. The pages started to turn faster and faster the more I read the more I needed to see what was happening next. The characters breathe life into the story. Amy has had a strained relationship with her family members. She blames herself for the death of her sister. She is out for revenge but what does that look like with other family members. Can she maintain her relationships or will it hurt her in the long run? Will she choose love or revenge? I highly recommend this book to see what happens with Amy.

This author has done it again with an amazing book that gives that amazing word play! I was a big fan of a series by them I recently had got to have the enjoyment of reading. The enjoyment certainly continued upon reading this novel. To say it is a must read, is a understatement.
This book had it all and then some. Literally everything I had hoped for and more. I certainly must say, the suspense level and biting your nail sensations were very well done though out this book, not just on certain pages, but pretty much you stop for a breath, more suspense comes, and you have to pick up and start running again. The way this gifted author writes their characters is amazing and beyond the word that defines realistic. The way their personalities leap off the page makes me feel almost as if this is someone you could easily read just by walking down the street, basically on an ordinary day. Truly the book was amazing. I could not put this one down once I got into it, it just kept getting better and better!
Honestly you need to pick up and see all the techniques and qualities it beholds! Its a fast paced, with a brisk wind sort of read. Some points you just don’t know what your in for till you get going into it. Every moment I found myself in the book, more I was compelled to keep on reading. It was a great read, and truly delivered and then some! I loved it with everything within me! Seriously read this and see what I mean! This is not a book to pass up! Thank you again to this amazing author for this freaking good book!

Amy McKinley’s No Way Out is one of the most character intense stories I have ever read. The story of the Chicago’s Italian-American Mafia families showed how they had their own political agendas. Lilianna Brambilla’s role as a Mafia “princess” made her an asset to her father. Benito Brambilla’s power was crumbling from the destruction of several warehouses he used to store drugs. The Council of the Mafia frowned upon drug dealings, but Benito did not care.
Max Caruso’s, along with his cousins, directions are to protect Lilianna and to reintroduce her to her Grandfather VIncenzo. After her mother had died, Benito refused to allow any contact with VIncenzo. Max infiltrates Benito’s home as Matteo “Matt” Trambino, with a reputation for being a hitman for the original families that never failed to get a job done. Benito assigns Matt to guard Lilianna. After a dinner with the Mexican cartel and Matt protecting Lilianna from the unwanted attention of an ambitious youngster, she begins to trust him. She also feels something different about Matt, but dismisses her underlying feelings, knowing her father would never allow her to date an employee. Little does she know, but Matt has grown a much larger attachment to her and intends to get her out of the prison life she lives. When Antonio Caruso strikes a deal with Benito, Lilianna goes into panic mode. She was to marry the oldest son of the Caruso family, Tony. Suspected of killing his previous fiancé, Tony is despised by Lilianna. She fakes her escape and finds herself losing her thoughts of control when Matt foils her plans.
This is a stellar 5-star thrilling romance. The alternating narrative between Max and Lilianna is seamless. I loved how McKinley was able to bring the characters alive with rational thoughts and how easy it was to connect with them. The outward appearance of Lilianna was a farce of someone that feared nobody, but underneath she ran on fear. The amount of weaponry she carried with her everywhere was overkill, which in her shoes, I probably would have done the same. Living in a house where your mother died, and being treated as property by your father, would break just about anyone. The ending of this book fits and doesn’t feel rushed like other romance novels tend to be.

This book absolutely blew me away! Amy McKinley is such a talented author. Liliana and Max are both extremely multi-dimensional characters and I really enjoyed getting to read the story from the view point of each of them. Liliana comes across initially as a cool and indifferent, but a total kick-butt woman that takes crap from no one. However, as the story develops, you get to see a completely different side of her-a side that is scared and lonely and craving a sense of belonging. Then there’s Max. He turns out to be so much more than just a hunky, muscular man that won’t let anyone stand in the way of his end goal. Max and Liliana bring out the best in each other and I was rooting for them the whole way! This book truly has a little bit of something for everyone-romance, suspense, action and heat. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the next book in this series.

WOW!! She has done it again! This book was everything and more of what I was expecting from this author and her new series. I loved reading every single word in this story. I was completely wrapt up in it from the first chapter. I have come to realize I love the mafia style stories, especially when they are written like this. The secrets, the twists to the story that just flow out while reading that become those awesome wow moments. The many characters that I never had a problem sorting out while reading. The absolute bada** lead characters that left an impression, making them a lead couple I will never forget. The best friends, Oh my goodness I love them, they actually cracked me up alot of times while reading. The cousins… oh i hope there will be so much more with the best friends and cousins.
I could literally go on and on about this book, as well as this author. If you have not read any of her books yet…Grab this one, I promise it has every little thing you ever wanted while reading.
I was left with a huge question when I finished this book, someone that was mentioned way back in the beginning. I’m so hoping that since book 2 is Enzo and Sophia that I’ll get my answer. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!
Deserves so many more than 5 stars!! I loved it!!!

No Way Out was a really good, entertaining read! Amy McKinley never disappoints with her novels and this one was no exception. My only complaint to this novel was it felt like there were a few plot holes and missing concepts. A few scenes had me confused because it seemed like some content was left out. Other than that I could hardly put this book down! It was entertaining, spicy, thrilling and full of action. I absolutely can not wait to read the next installment of this series and see what happens next!
