Dead Sound grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me hooked until the end! Neve is returning to work after surviving an attack by a patient. Unit 4 fills up with patients who believe an apocalypse is eminent. Neve finds that her patient Amos is involved with these patients. Neve must determine if Amos is experiencing a psychotic break or if he is truly onto something when he shares his Book of Amos with her.

Queue the muscle and tension! I haven’t read the previous books but I think even though i didn’t know the backstory, I could still make sense of everything! I’ll definitely be going back to read the others though! I really loved that Sasha and Lazarus didn’t want the attraction – it made for some good banter and tension throughout. I am so happy that Lazarus ended up with Sasha. They seem to be a great fit for each other!

This was a thrilling 5 star read. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. Lazarus (Oz) quickly became my favorite in this series.
Sasha comes to Chicago to work, she ends up getting a call from an old friend asking her to help with something. Little did she know who her friend’s son was, Oz. When they came face-to-face old feelings came flooding back. You can feel the attraction between them but Oz tries to keep her at arms length to try and protect her. His crazy father is still on the loose and until he finds him none of his loved ones will be safe.
Will Oz be able to keep her safe? Will he finally give in to his feelings for her?
Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was the last one in the series. It can be read as a stand alone but it’s much better if you read them all. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading more from her. This is the last book in this series and what an ending it was. Although I did not read all of the books (I think I missed the first two) I still fell right into the books, the characters, and continued from there. This book concentrated on Lazarus and Sasha. These two have been attracted to each other for a while but have pushed each other away because of personal priorities and misgivings. Finally they are doing something for themselves. As with the other books, these characters pull you in and make you feel like you are a part of the story. And the connections these brothers have, although hard to grasp all the hurt and issues they have is amazing. The author did a wonderful job with this conclusion to the series.

This is a final book in The Dark Sparrow Series. It was good, I definitely need to read the other books because the characters are developed and rich but I didn’t completely understand the back story and previous plots are mentioned. Lazarus and Sasha are a complete package and this seems to be happily ever after. The side characters make this book all the more entertaining. This is an action packed plot with crime and romance that had me so excited to keep reading. This has great cover art and I am disappointed that I was a bit lost. What would you sacrifice for family? A story true to its name the conclusion seems perfect for this book so I can only imagine the rest of the reads. I truly enjoyed this author and I will be looking out for the rest of the series.

Once the patient falls into a coma, Con and Neve are racing the clock to discover the clues he left behind for them – and discover quite a conspiracy! Neither of them ever expected their patient to be telling the truth! Fast paced and interesting from start to finish, I highly recommend this book.

This is not the first book I’ve read by the author. The Dark Sparrow Novels get better each one I read. King Bastard is by the far the best and we get to learn more about the head guy.
Lazarus is known for protecting his brothers from their father. So far each of them have found their happily ever after. Sasha came into his life when it was at his lowest and she just might be the best thing that has happened to him. The quote I chose for Lazarus is: “I didn’t know you’d worked with her so many times during your missions.”
Sasha comes back to the states after being away for a while. She gets a call from Lazarus’ mother and now has a place to stay. Can she get through to Lazarus that they can be more than friends? This book was both very sad for me and a relief at the same time. While I didn’t want this wonderful series to end, I couldn’t wait to see how things played out for these wonderful characters. Just like the previous books in this series this book is addictive and full of suspense, romance, tension, danger and oh so much more. While this book can be read as a standalone u highly recommend reading the whole series, as it helps build the bigger picture. Lazarus is the oldest brother and he has vowed to protect his brothers, and keep a last battle from them. Then Sasha comes into play and Lazarus must not only keep his brothers safe but also the woman he loves. Will Lazarus be able to keep everyone safe and live his life with the woman he loves? Or will their father win this final battle? You’ll have to read this book to find out.

I have enjoyed this series so much. This book is about another Mafia boss, Stefano. His own father is sadistic and abusive. Some of the incidents of abuse are hideous and hard to read. Even growing up so mistreated, Stefano is still capable of love and treating people well. Emiliana has always loved him, but Stefano has refused to acknowledge his feelings for her in order to protect her from his father. Emiliana is amazing all on her own. She has refused to let anxiety and ptsd over being kidnapped keep her from living her life and loving Stefano. I loved both of their stories and really enjoyed this book!

This is the 3rd book in the mafia elite series and once again we get a strong sexy dominant male named Stefano Rossi. He is madly in love with Emiliana but they have to keep their love secret as as his dad is an evil sick bastard who would do anything to keep his son in check and that includes hurting those close to him. Emiliana has already been hurt and Stefano is on the hunt for the snake who put her in danger in the first place. I absolutely loved this book.

Born in Darkness is the 3rd book in the Mafia Elite series. I love this series and cant wait for the next book. Each book focuses on one couple within the 5 families in the Chicago Mafia. This book is the story of Emiliana and Stefano. They have known each other the whole lives, and liked each other since their teen years, but haven’t been able to pursue a relationship. Life of a Mafia underboss and Mafia princess are complicated, and you often can’t make your own choices. But when a rat is suspected within the family, they must put their feelings aside and focus on uncovering the traitor. Everyone has their suspicions, and the true rat was a shock to us all, me included. Things got a little graphic and dark during the interrogation, but I loved seeing that side of all the characters. It reminds us that they are raised to be tough and violent when needs call for it. I was happy with the ending, and cant wait to read Marco and Elena’s book next!

This is a great addition to this series, and I think this was my favourite so far, Stefano and Emiliana have an enchanted love as you start the book with hidden secret encounters and stoles kisses it added an edge of excitement to the relationship.
The story was well developed and gripping all the way through, I loved the way the characters interacted with each other and you’re just willing them along. The hardship that is written with each words have your heart-breaking with each paragraph. I can’t wait to read the next instalment in this series and see what happens in the world of Five families.

Book Review: Born In Darkness Author: Amy McKinley FOUR STARS Stefano and Emiliana get their story told in this Mafia romantic suspense. This is the 3rd book in the Mafia Elite Series. Just like the first two, we meet another of the Mafia Princesses and the soon to be man of her life. Stefano just has to get rid of his father and he will be able to take over his familly. Emiliana and Stefano have been hiding their feelings about each other from everyone due to all of the things happening in the families. It was too risky to come out about them. Now though, is it the only thing that can keep Emiliana safe? I didn’t think this book has as much suspense and conflict as the first two books. Very interesting! Neve, who just returned to work after a traumatic near-death experience, finds herself at the center of a chaotic and apocalyptic threat…but could it really be? This book was unlike anything I’ve ever read before and was quite intriguing. This was a romantic suspense meets psychological thriller type read full of twist and turns. It kept me interested throughout and the characters were well-developed and likable. Though it was largely suspenseful, I loved the bits of humor thrown into the story. This book really has it all and is an original work that is worth the read. My mind is still twisted with this story and intricacies crafted by this author.

This is such a great page turner! This book jumps right into the story on page one! I love Neve’s character and her passion for others. She just wants to help her patients heal, a certain patient in particular when she finds out about his involvement. Born in Darkness is the third book in the Mafia Elite series and oh my goodness, so much happens and so many questions I had were answered. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next book comes out.
This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites and I will actively look for her books so I don’t miss one of her amazing suspenseful books.
Emiliana and Stefano were burning it up with the tension between them and man was it worth the wait, well at least for me. There is just so much that happens that I can’t get into too much for fear it will give something away accidentally and I will not ruin this great book for someone
Em, Lil and Sofia are women you would not to make mad and I love. I love all of these amazingly strong women who are not afraid to get their hand dirty but will also let their men take control when necessary.

This is the third book in this series and I loved it! Each book just keeps getting better. This is Emiliana and Stefano’s story and it is full of action. There are many obstacles in their life that have kept these two apart. This is a must read to find out if they can find a way to be together. This book can be read as a standalone but it is my suggestion that you read the other two in this series not only because they are awesome but also because you will have a better understanding of some of the other characters. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat at times wondering what’s going to happen. This story is also full of lies, deceit, romance and great characters. The author does an amazing job pulling you into the story and you can’t help but become completely invested in the outcome. I highly recommend this book.

I was gripped from start to finish by this exciting and engaging romantic suspense novel. The main characters were well developed and realistic and the chemistry between the two of them came across in the writing. Homicide Detective Alexandra Danvers and her partner Detective Xavier Knight are determined to bring Arthur Book, a known child murderer to justice. However, Xavier is actually a police corruption specialist who is undercover as Lexi’s partner, but is really evaluating her fitness for duty. As the investigation into the child killer continues Xavier is worried that if he concentrates on his actual mission, then it could have serious consequences for the murder case, allowing Book to walk free. Things become more complicated for the pair as the more time they spend together on their covert investigation into Book’s, they can no longer ignore their growing feelings for one another. The pair become in danger of not only loosing their careers but also their lives as the case continues. The storyline flows well and I felt immersed in the investigation due to the descriptive narrative. I was kept hooked by the plot twists and stayed up late to finish the book as it was hard to put down. This was an enjoyable read which I would recommend.

Sasha was my shining beacon even if she does not know, I can not let my father know I have a weakness but can I live my life without her.
I have loved this series and finally getting to read “Oz’s” story was brilliant, I have always love Sasha as a secondary character and was the perfect pair with Lazarus. Sasha was full of sass and independence that only really could match the grumpy brother, this was brilliant that the story brought the softer side to him and I loved the interaction between the two of them.
The way the author weaved the web and the story through each of the books was brilliantly, I am sad that this is the end of the story and that we have to say goodbye to these great characters but can’t wait to read more books by this wonderful author.

I have read all the books in this series and this one was the one I was waiting for the dark mysterious Lazarus King and he has risen from the dead and with the help of his brothers they will defeat their enemy their father who has wreaked havoc on them and others. This book is a great romantic suspense, detective novel. I do love a good romantic suspense story and I really enjoyed this one. I had never previously read any of this author’s work but I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to give it a go. There is a book that comes before this in the series but they can be read as a stand-alone. When I read this book I wasn’t aware that there had been a previous book but as this is a whole new story there is no issue with not having read the previous book. The main characters from the previous book, Jayson Donovan and Kylee do make an appearance in this book. I do wonder about the names of these characters – is the author a Neighbours fan? Lol This is the story of Detectives Alexandra (Lexi) Danvers and Xavier Knight and their pursuit of catching their main suspect in a child murder case. I loved both of these characters. They are totally opposite in personality but work so well as a team. I really enjoyed reading their story. The author had me gripped from the very beginning of the story and does an amazing job of keeping you totally enthralled and not wanting to put the book down. The book is filled with a great deal of drama, danger and intrigue and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will definitely read more of this author’s work in the future as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Fantastic! The last instalment in a brilliant series brings Lazarus and Sasha’s story. This was dark and broody meets impulsive and snarky. I really enjoyed their interactions. A roller coaster ride of events filled with high stakes emotions brings this intriguing and suspenseful series to a bittersweet end. The author has done an exceptional job bringing everything together and keeping true to the characterisation throughout the whole series. Highly recommended.

Lazarus and Sasha are magical together. Lazarus does his best to come across as cold and unfeeling but his facade always crumbles when Sasha is around. She thinks that he hates her but it doesn’t take long for to realize just how wrong she was in her assessment. This book is full of love, loyalty, betrayal, heartbreak and the true meaning of family having nothing to do with blood at all. There is so much action and suspense in this book that I just couldn’t tear myself away. The ending was so sweet and perfect! This is actually the first that I read in this series and now I’m excited to go back and read the others.

My, oh my!! Another thrilling installment in this series. I can’t get enough of these strong, badass mafia women. They are strong, funny, brave, loyal the families, powerful, and especially connected to each other,
Emiliana has been through hell and back. Targeted even as a child, Emiliana has had to watch her back. When she was taken by a human trafficking network and held for months, Emiliana clung to what she knew would keep her strong. Her love for Stefano is some of her earliest memories. The stolen kisses, hidden touches, lingering looks were the images that played through her mind during the roughest parts of her captivity.
Stefano is the only remaining child of a cruel man. Stefano’s father used his children like pawns in business and it cost two the lives of two of them. Stefano has faced abuse and torture at the hands of his father since he can remember. Stefano has fought against showing his feelings for Emiliana knowing that his father would stop at nothing to use her against him.
Now as the families search for the mole in their organizations, Stefano is planning a way out from under his father. Can Stefano keep Emiliana safe from his father and his long reach while routing out the mole? Will all Stefano’s plans to build a more positive and stable family be toppled by his father or the mole?
The action and steam keep the pages flipping. There are so many twists and turns in this story. The pages flew by and I was sad when it was over. I can’t wait for Book 4!!
