Motherland (The Tom Grant Series Book 3) by Samantha Adair – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Motherland (Tom Grant #3)Motherland by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a well written story about a promise that is made to a father on his deathbed. A promise that Isabella is determined to keep no matter what the costs are. The characters are engaging and they bring the story to life. They kept me turning pages fast just to see what would happen to them next. Isabella made such a great character and her determination to keep the promise she made, made her even stronger. She and Tom are faced with decisions that could put them in danger and there could be other forces that work totally against them. This is a great adventure story that takes on a thriller aspect as well as just a great story. I highly recommend this book.

3.5⭐️

Chase Benedict has lived the life of luxury since he was born. He always went to the right schools, was the leader in everything he did, and also got exactly what he wanted. This meant that he’s not very accustomed to someone telling him what he doesn’t want to hear but that changed when he almost hit Allegra with his car. Now the top man at one of London’s largest criminal organizations is now being told exactly what a young woman thinks of him and his driving capabilities. This chance encounter could change their lives in ways neither of them anticipated when Chase and Allegra realize they can’t stop thinking about each other and there’s little that can be done to address it other than see what comes of it.

Overall I enjoyed the story and the sexual tension and smut were by far the best part. It explores Allegra’s introduction to a part of herself she wasn’t aware of while having Chase focus on laying out rules and consent in the beginning. I’m not sure how much I enjoyed the twist with how it impacts the couple but it was really interesting getting an idea of what would continue to happen between them. My biggest complaint personally (and which might not be an issue at for others) was the incorporation of the pandemic and how Chase is powerful enough to not abide by the restrictions in place. I definitely understand that realistically this is probably the case for certain parts of society but personally it really pulled me out of the book because I would get frustrated. Overall it was a quick read and had all sorts of chemistry!

Moonlit Kiss ( A Venice Romance) is a wonderfully written Romantic Suspense that I absolutely loved reading. I never hesitate to pick up any books by this author as she has quickly become a favorite of mine. Her ability to transport you to whatever she’s writing is simply amazing. Her characters are relatable and fully developed and I felt as if I was with them throughout the whole book. This is a quick read that you will find yourself lost in the pages and wanting more. I find myself wanting to go to Venice to experience myself what the characters did. I highly recommend reading this and anything by this author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chased was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning.

Chase is the ultimate arrogant bad boy with his own agenda. He always gets what he wants and when he almost hit Allegra with his car, something about her pulled him in. Allegra is a college student trying to keep it all together in the middle of a pandemic. When she meets Chase there is something about him she can’t stop thinking about. When fate steps in and they see each other again, it gives Chase the opportunity he needed to ask her out.

What will happen when Allegra finds out who Chase really is?

Allegra was great, I loved her sassiness and she knew how to push Chase’s buttons. I think that is what drew Chase to her. I really enjoyed their story and I can’t wait to read more from this series. The author does a great job with her writing and you feel like you’re right there with the characters. If you’re looking for a great dark read with a hot dominant man, 1-click and get started today.

BRINK OF DENIAL (SONS OF SINDICATO BOOK 2) by SONYA JESUS AND CAM JOHNS – Review by Stephanie Chapman

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato #1)Brink of Denial by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sons of Sindicato: Brink of Denial by Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns, features Dane Giordano and Milana Lombradi’s conflict-filled lives. Eleven years ago, Milana decided to leave Dane and head to California. She became a model and changed her name to Mila Leblanc. Every few years she would visit New Jersey and hook up with Dane, only to leave again. As time wore on, Dane tries to convince himself that he hated Mila, and tries to move on but fails to find a woman that could feel the emptiness that Mila left behind.

Present day Mila isn’t doing as well as she had once dreamed and finds herself in a situation that requires her to seek the assistance of her past. Tyler Pence, a former lover of Mila’s, has been blackmailing her for over 8 years with a sex tape that would destroy her career. When she agrees to meet him in New Jersey, she calls Dane for help. While Dane does assist her to a degree, Tyler is left alive and proves to be more than just a pain to Mila. He shows proof that he can expose the Sindicato and bring the entire Mafia down. Mila knows she needs to return to her Lombardi roots and join forces with Dane in order to stop Tyler.

This is a 5-star book and I would recommend reading the prequel Sons of Sindicato Novella in order to understand the intertwining plot. This is a fast-paced book with deception, passion, and family dysfunction that is sure to become a favorite of any suspense reader.

Malia and Dane’s romance is the longest yo-yo dating I have ever read. From being with each other since kids and then on again and off again for 11 years.

I am pretty new to mafia romance but this really convinced me I need to read more. I love the passion behind the mafia structure and ties of family.

I really hope they write a Gia and Nico book.

This was beautifully written. I fell in love with Gianna and Sergio instantly. What girl hasn’t dreamed of following her heart and it being exactly where she needs to be. I’ve never thought about visiting Venice before, but now I feel like I have. Goodness. This just made my heart happy. The suspense and the love just fit perfectly. This is a stand alone but i beg for you to read all of them! You wont regret it!

Sara Flemming was once a foster kid with penchant for running from her placement homes. All grown-up now, she chose to be a social worker for the same fostering agency that struggled to find her a home as a child. When a new young teen arrives on the scene, one with the same history of running as Sara, she seems to be the only one that can understand and get through to the girl. Circumstances collide to bring some childhood friends zooming back into her life, and Sara has to not only help her charge, but deal with unfinished business from the past.
This story is well written and easy-to-read. I enjoyed the pacing of the story and getting to know Sara and Rachael. It was sensitive to the topic of foster care while also being unflinching in the realities that can sometimes occur. A good read, give it a go.

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romanfe by Amy McKinley is part of the Moonlit Destination series. As with all of this authors books I absolutely loved this one. I engaged with the story straight away and fell in love with the characters. Their story just felt so romantic from the moment I started reading.
I thought the author did a great job of capturing what I always imagine the essence of Venice to be – love and romance. The story was easy flowing and just a joy to read. No matter which book I read by this author it never fails to entertain me entirely. This is a fantastic book and one I would highly recommend.

I enjoyed this suspenseful romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites so far. I never hesitate to pick up this author’s books. When she realizes she is missing a panel for her restoration job she turns to Sergio for help. She finds herself struggling with destiny and he finds himself struggling to convince her that the future is with them. What will happen with them and the missing panel? I enjoyed watching their relationship grow throughout the story. They made great characters and truly made the story for me. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what happens to them at the end.

Wow….wow…wow, this story. Definitely a very good read. Chase and Allegra the chemistry no doubt is undeniable. Chase, leader of large organized crime family, at first I really loved his bad boy persona. I also admired Allegra’s strong character going to school to better herself in law. Then something happens that Chase loses his trust and Allegra betrays him. Chase is totally ruthless, but Allegra cannot stay away. Their relationship makes me want to shake them both! It is very intense for sure. This book is very good read and I recommend if you like bad boy, dark mafia books.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really loved this at the beginning. I don’t believe I have ever read a book with a MC like Chase. He is proud of his opulent and indulgent life. Knowing he is above everyone/anything-can do whatever he wants and NO ONE can or will say a word about it. If they do its because they don’t know who he is…YET. Most characters who are like him have flaws to figure out but this guy is PROUD of everything. With that being said it lost some of its zest the further the story went. Then it just seemed to end. No resolution. The story became more about the relationship or whatever they have going on and less about his job and such. That led me to be disappointed in the story as I felt its really more erotica and not much else.

Heart of Stone (The Stone Series Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by Dakota Willink – Review by Heidi Schoolman

This is the first book in The Stone Series.  This is an audio book and is just under 14 hours.  This story follows Krystina, a woman haunted by her past, and Alexander, a billionaire.  They both have secrets from their pasts that neither were willing to budge on.  Krystina is a witty firecracker; the complete opposite of what Alexander is accustomed to.  She is drawn to him, but she does not know why.  He has those “come hither” eyes.  I cannot wait for the rest of the series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m quite conflicted about Chased: A Cambridge Men Of Honor Novel. It was my first time reading any of this author’s work and I’m sure I will read more as overall I did enjoy the book although there are a few things that I did not like.
I really liked Allegra, the female lead character. I understand why she fell under the spell of Chase Benedict as he certainly knew how to put on the charm.
I like reading a dark romance and this certainly fits the bill. I did really like Felicity Brandon’s writing style. The story is well told and flows well, keeping the reader engaged.
One thing that I found different is that this is the first book that I have read that is set in Covid times. I really enjoyed reading a novel set in this time as it was a new experience and had expected authors not to write about this particular time.
I didn’t really get the impression of a mafia novel. Yes, Chase was an evil crime lord but I didn’t get a mafia vibe from the book.
One thing I just didn’t get at all was Chase giving Allegra 75 spanks, especially for a first spanking. Hey, I’m no expert on BDSM but that is much higher than in any other novel I have read and it seemed excessive.
Overall, I did enjoy the book and have given it 4 stars.

Ummmm, Cam Johns and Sonya Jesus. Need I say more. All the stars!!

Brink of Denial is book one of the Sons of Sindicato series by Cam Johns and Sonya Jesus. I loved Sons of Sindicato (Book #0) and was immediately hooked- so needless to say I was excited to get my hands on this book and see what these talented authors had in store for us.
This is a dark mafia romance, full of danger, tension, angst, suspense, emotion, secrets, twists and turns, dramatic developments, and a bit of an enemies to lovers element.
We follow Dane Giordano and Mila Blanc through all their highs, lows, and intense developments. I don’t want to give away too much- as this book/series is definitely worth the read. So, if you love mafia romance with a bit of a dark side- with fantastic characters, and a brilliant storyline full of tension- then this is definitely a book/series you will want to one-click asap!
Can’t wait for more!!

Thank you, Cam Johns and Sonya Jesus!

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops #1)Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops #1) is the first in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series written by Amy McKinley, and it is the first book I have read by Amy, but it most certainly will not be my last!

This book was incredible! I am all for a good suspense novel, with some romance mixed in is a bonus, and this did not let me down! I felt like the characters were my friends and I was right there in the story with them! The twists and turns were some of the best I have read and it definitely goes to show this author knows her stuff when it comes to writing good, well-written novels!
The book follows Riley, who is a grad student a few weeks away from graduation working at a local coffee shop in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Xander who is a Navy SEAL who recently returned from a mission gone wrong. When he wanders into the same coffee shop that Riley works at, they have an instant connection. The only problem, she is not single.
Throughout the book, the 2 meet and Riley realizes that the relationship she is currently in is not what she thought it was and she ends it. But, when her ex does not agree, suspicious things start to happen.
As Xander and Riley build their relationship, Xander has his own mystery to figure out when it comes to his failed mission involving bad intel. As things get dangerous for Riley, Xander is determined to keep her safe by taking her to his family’s island, but is that enough? The only way you will find out is to read this fantastic book!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and it will not be the last book I read by this author! I am excited to read the second and third books in this series and find out what happens!

I loved the first two of the Moonlit Destination series and this one is no different, it was a one sitting read for me as the story kept me wrapped from page one. This author has a way of transporting you to wherever the stories take place. I’m pretty sure I’ll never visit Venice although I’d love to, but came away from reading this book feeling as if I had been right there with Gianna and Sergio the whole way. Their story was unique and the romance felt real and like it happened naturally. This is my favorite of all of them so far as I felt like I connected a little quicker and literally could not put it down.

I will read anything by this author. She writes romantic suspense like no other and although I like her longer novels and series a bit more this one still holds true and stays consistent with the awesome writing style I’ve come to know by this author.

They can all be read as standalones but I highly recommend reading them all!

Loved it!

Allegra is a law student, during the Covid pandemic, and has been pretty isolated. While out for exercise, Chase almost runs over her. When he runs into her again, he can’t help but ask her out. The problem they don’t know about is that they are on opposing sides of an important issue.
Opinion
The steam is high in this age difference book. Morals do not necessarily abound, even though Allegra has then. The story is quick paced and hot hot hot. The story does venture into the dark world of wealth and power.

When artist and conservator Gianna Bellini lands a dream job in Venice to restore and complete a century-old fresco painting, she packs her bags and hops the first flight to Italy. But as she walks the cobbled streets with eerie familiarity, she comes to the revelation that she has been to the floating city before—just not in this lifetime.

Handsome Venetian native Sergio Vitale rescues Gianna from a chilling plunge after a misstep at a canal-side café. As their budding relationship deepens, so does her progress on the restoration job—except the fresco painting’s missing a panel. She turns to Sergio for help. The closer they get to discovering the unfinished design, the more Gianna is tormented by vivid dreams and haunting whispers where century-old Venetians have met their end.

In a city where the past and present walk hand in hand, Gianna struggles against destiny while Sergio fights for a future that includes her in it.

Moonlit Kiss is a standalone romantic suspense, complete with an HEA.

I love this series. The men and their women. The fight and drive the put in when it’s right. I wanted to yell at Wes. Be greedy we only have this one life take what you want within reason lol. The story was so relatable. I know me and a few friends suffer with body image issues. No matter how much we try to encourage each other and ourselves. So everything Eleanor felt I completely understood. I have enjoyed every book in this series. The leads are always amazing in their own way. They go through so much to get where they’re needed. Definitely recommend hopping in this series.

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1)Sexy Drug by Melody Calder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sexy Drug is a quickly paced, slow burn romance novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from page 1 until the very last. I enjoyed getting to learn about 2 of the main characters backgrounds and how they got to where they are in life. It wasn’t just insta-love. Katie has been kept away from the ruthlessness, and sadistic tendencies of all the men around her including her father who treats her like she is just another piece of property. Her father has arranged for her to marry someone so much worse than even himself. Ramone has been through so much himself but there is still so much more to be seen about him. They portrayed cool indifference to cover what was growing between them but they were so different behind closed doors even while Katie’s life is in danger. I honestly cannot wait to read more in this series.

The intensity of the love that Mila and Dane have for each other is so beautifully captured in this book. They way they overcome their fears to be together and decided to just do it despite everything that happen. I was swooning! Not to mention the glimpses we got of Seth and Braelynn and even Gia! There was so much character growth in this book, I ate it up! Getting to look into the lives of this Mafia Family, how they work, love and live is so fun. I am enjoying this series so much! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance and Alpha males who only kneel to their women!

This book was passionate, thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat. Braelynn Shaw is an ambitious, lawyer who works hard and plays harder! She is the very definition of Bold and Beautiful! When Seth was introduced, I knew right then this novella was going to be exciting. Seth can only be described as a hot headed, stubborn, and full of passion. I loved watching these characters protect each other with everything in them and go to the mat time and time again for their relationship, despite the challenges they are facing. This is a great start to a Mafia Romance Series; I can only guess how good the next books will be!

Dirty Tactics (Special Weapons & Tactics Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Peyton Banks – Review by Kerry Baker

Dirty Tactics by Peyton Banks is the first book in the Special Weapons and Tactics series. It is a relatively quick book to listen to and one that is easy to get lost in. The story started strong and drew my attention pretty quickly. I thought Sarena was an entertaining character and I liked her feistiness that came across strong. I also really liked Marcus. The two of them worked well together and seemed well suited.

My only issue is that the story didn’t continue quite as strong as it started. It felt like it was all a little rushed – the events all happening within the space of a couple of weeks – which meant some of the detail had been skipped. I think it would have been better served to draw the story out a bit more, flesh it out and have it last a bit longer. That being said I did enjoy the story and I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Peyton Banks is still a pretty new author to me but I have enjoyed everything I had read so far. I am looking forward to my next audio book by her.

Incredible.
This book had me on edge the whole book. Who will die? Who will be arrested? Who is behind threats? The characters are so multidimensional you feel like they are real people. You feel the stress the whole family is going through throughout the book. The same characters in book one are in this story too which I quite enjoy. Dane and Milana are a troubled couple who make many mistakes along the way. The story takes you on a journey of self discovery in the brutal mafia world. You get so invested in these characters that you don’t want the book to end. I need book three of this mafia family.
