Dirty Tactics (Special Weapons & Tactics Book 1) AUDIO BOOK
By Peyton Banks
4 stars
Overall, I really enjoyed this audio book. The narration was good, it was easy to listen to and I liked the story. I always thought I would find it harder to connect with characters in an audio book but I definitely didn’t in this one. I liked Marcus and Sarena, he was definitely an alpha male – I loved that about him and I really liked Sarena too, I don’t always like the sweet and innocent female lead but I couldn’t help but think she was nice and definitely perfect for Marcus (in my opinion) – she did have a little bit of sass about her though!
Peyton Banks is a new to me author and I am definitely looking forward to listening/reading more of her stories!
Secure Decision by R.L. Dunn is book five of the Chase Security series. This book can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any other books in the series yet but didn’t lose any of the experience. This book was so good that I am going to go back to the beginning and read them all!
Wes is back after a tough mission in New York. He doesn’t have time to process his thoughts on that because he jumps into taking over training in Virginia. The last thing he expects to find himself doing is leading an investigation on missing women. He’s still reeling after everything else, he’s not sure he can handle everything now. As if his cup isn’t already running over, Wes can’t help how drawn he is to Eleanor. Eleanor is starting over. Equine-assisted therapy at the Chase Center is where she’s going to attempt to do that. She never expected to meet Wes but she has to resist at all costs. There are lots of secrets between them. Can Wes and Eleanor lay it all on the line?
There is a lot of suspense and mystery in this book and it most definitely keeps you intrigued. I couldn’t put it down! Eleanor is much like any woman in regards to her negative body image which makes her very relatable as a character. I really enjoyed both Wes and Eleanor and was rooting for them the whole time! Can’t wait to read more of the series!

Dunn – Review by Angelina Frazzini
Marcus MacArthur is a SWAT member, former Navy SEAL, and all around tough guy. He is constantly putting his life in danger so he doesn’t do relationships. What woman in their right mind would want to constantly worry about whether or not he would be coming home that night? It isn’t until his feisty neighbor, Serena Rucker, moves in and catches his attention that he is contemplating having a serious relationship. One night with her should have been enough, but now that he’s had her he can’t seem to think of anything else. With his profession there are bound to be people that want to see him either badly hurt or dead. When he learns that she has a target on her back due to their connection he would do everything in his power to keep her safe.
Serena Rucker is an emergency room nurse that has had her eye on Marcus for a while. She knows what she’s getting into by starting any kind of relationship with him, but she worries anyway. Will she be able to make Marcus see things her way? Being associated with a man like Marcus isn’t going to be easy especially when they are willing to hurt those he cares for. When trouble comes knocking Serena is caught in the middle and used as leverage against Marcus. Will Marcus be able to save her from a horrible situation or will he be too late?
This is the first book I have read or even listened to by this author. It’s definitely not something to listen to in a room full of people, haha. The two leads are both headstrong and aren’t afraid to go for what they want.

Oh My! What a salacious collaboration! Brink of Denial: A Dark Mafia Romance is the first book in the Sons of Sindicato Series by Sonja Jesus and Cam Johns. Mila is the former Princess of the Sons of Sindicato Mafia. She decided that she wanted to live her own life away from the mafia and become a famous model. But unfortunately, she left behind her only regret…Dane. Dane was her best friend and her first in many aspects. Dane has cut off all emotions since she left. All except anger. Now, Mila wants back in and wants Dane back, but what is she going to have to do to have it all back? This was most definitely a page turner! It was so incredibly good that I couldn’t put the book down! I loved all the characters and Mila and Dane worked so well together. I can only attest that this book is so good because the authors were on the same page as each other the whole time. It’s like two voices became one and the result was amazing! You will not regret reading this book.

Yall if you have never read Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns writing together, run, don’t walk, run and one click this series now! This is book two in the series and by far one of my favorite books by these two ever! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one after diving into the other ones that prefaced this but wow did this one blow all my expectations out of the water. I really love dark romance stories especially ones with mafia storylines so this series was never a question for me but the way this weaves and flows is something that I think is masterful and could make a big screen blow up! I was on the edge of my seat following Dane and Mila through everything they faced and pulling for them to find the happy ending I so wanted them to have! I cannot wait to see what will come next!

Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley is everything that a romance/action lover hopes for when they pick up a book. The first installment to her Deadly Isles Special Ops series if full of romance, crime, action, murder and more. Ms. McKinley hooks her readers from chapter one and takes us on an emotional and adventurous roller coaster ride. Per usual I love Ms. McKinley’s writing style as it flows evenly, which in turn makes novels like Twisted Secrets a pleasure to read. Her character development is amazing all the way from her navy seal hunk of a male lead to her cute but sexy female lead. She builds her characters chemistry slowly, but in turn develops it so perfectly that it has no problem making this reader want to pick up book two.

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance is part of the Moonlit Destination Series by Amy McKinley. Set in the beautiful setting of Venice, American Gianna, an accomplished artist, is hired to restore an incomplete mural on the side of her employer’s home. From the moment she steps foot in the city she starts to feel as though she has been here before, finding a familiarity on the streets and waterways. The longer she stays in the city the more she starts to connect with the heart-breaking mystery behind the unfinished painting and finds herself falling for the descendant of the artist himself, Italian doctor Sergio. This is a really enjoyable book; the descriptions of the setting really help picture the scene and the character development is excellent. Would recommend to fans of this genre.

This was a great book! Main characters, Wes Crockett and Eleanor “Ellie” West both have scarred and secret pasts. Ellie begins working for Wes at the Training facility he is director for and due to an accident they begin a wobbly relationship. When Ellie tells Wes about her past, it begins a mystery that needs to be solved. The truth isn’t what you think it is, and the people around the main characters might be good, might be bad. It is an edge of your seat ride that brings about a happy conclusion.
Really good characters and a great story!! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I was hooked from the first page! I didn’t realize how much I love suspense romance stories until I was brought into the world of Riley and Zander – I’m not typically one to love fast romances either but the author made their relationship so easy to love and cheer for. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series! Very well written with unexpected scenes which make you keep turning the page!

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance is part of the Moonlit Destination Series by Amy McKinley.
I am already a huge fan of this author, but I think this is my favourite book so far. I was hooked right from the start by the beautiful descriptions of Venice, I was transported to Italy and dreamed of listening to orchestras. The storyline will keep you drawn in right to the end. I loved the wonderful characters, and there was tonnes of chemistry.
I would definitely recommend this book and author, especially if you are yet to read anything by Amy.

Sara Flemming knows what it’s like in the foster care system, after a troubled childhood spent running away from various group homes and care facilities. Now, as a social worker, she feels a special connection to the children she cares for. When she meets fifteen year old Rachael, a young teen in foster care, she sees parts of herself reflected in Rachael and knows she must do what she can to help. Sara reluctantly agrees to return to her hometown of Victory, in order to collect Rachael, who, after being arrested, is waiting for her in the local police station. As Sara bonds with Rachael, she finds out Rachael is on the run from her abusive foster father, and both Sara and Rachael agree that Victory is the safest place for Rachael, even though Sara is reluctant to reconnect to the town (and the people) she once called home.
Isobella Dunn is a relatively new author, and “Red Coat” is her newest romantic suspense. The novel covers issue of foster care and physical and sexual abuse, so it may be a trigger for some.
This novel played out like a Hallmark or Lifetime TV movie, complete with a quaint little town and a completely predictable ending. The simplistic language was a struggle for me; I would’ve preferred more developed and structured conversations. Dunn ensures every character has all of their inner thoughts put on paper, and there was definitely a need for stricter editing.
I enjoyed Sara and Rachael as characters, and right from the beginning you could see they were perfect for each other. It was obvious what the outcome was going to be between these two, and it definitely ended on a happy note. Right away, I found the character of Colin to be brash and forward, and honestly, he bordered a little on abusive and harassing. At the end of the novel though, Colin is more likable, but I think with a little more time for relationship history and character development, especially when it comes to Colin and Sara, I would’ve seen him the way the author intended. There seemed to be a giant gap missing between Colin and Sara’s relationship, and I needed more from them.
There was a lot of action in this novel, which was refreshing. When Rachael’s former foster father comes into the picture, even though the outcome is predictable (and some of the events were completely unrealistic), it was great to see Sara run to Rachael’s aid and overcome the predator.
Dunn’s novel is uplifting and light (even though the subject matter can be dark), and it was an easy read. I immediately cheered for both Sara and Rachael, and found the ending to be completely satisfying. “Red Coat” shines a light on the length that humans will go to in order to protect the ones they love, even when faced with hardship and trauma.

When I looked over to my new neighbour my heart picked up, he is so alpha male it just oozes from him. When Mac first saw his new neighbour running he can’t get her out of his mind but his job is dangerous and does he really want to put Serena is danger.
Mac is an elite SWAT commander and his alpha male sexiness is always in the for front but Mac is always wary regarding his love life as he is always a target and would not want to put anyone else in that world.
Serena has seen her hot neighbour and fantasise about having just on night with him but when an encounter where she worked rouses more that anger within Serena she then tries to get closer to this sexy man.
This story explodes from the first words spoken, the story is brilliant and although I did feel at times that the character of Serena was out of character with some of the interactions with Mac I still enjoyed the overall chemistry between these two characters.
I did enjoy the narrators who I felt gave these characters a great voice and personality, I will definitely be listening to more stories in this series.

Although she is trying to survive in walks a man who she has instant attraction to but can she stay away or risk him knowing her past and history.

This is the fifth book in the series and although you could read the story as a stand alone, although I would recommend reading the series to just understand the dynamic of these beautiful men and their ladies.
The story draws you in from the first paragraph with the interactions between Wes and Elle are hot and smouldering. I loved the way that these two characters needed each other at the greatest time in their lives and with both having flaws it just makes these two characters more interesting to read. The twists and turns with in the story will have you reading this story with out a breathe but with Elle’s history and past you will be wondering how this beautiful woman is still so open and caring is wonderful to read. The characters are well written and I would love to be friends with these people.
I can’t recommend this series enough, you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful series.

R.L. Dunn did an amazing job when writing this book. I had troubles putting it down! Dunn’s ability to make me feel like I not only know the military-type terms and situations but also medical situations was outstanding. I really felt like I was there with the characters seeing everything unfold. As soon as I met Ellie, I was hooked! She is such a relatable character in so many different ways. As Wes’ character developed alongside her, I fell in love with the two. Several times I wanted to yell at Wes and Ellie! I felt their frustrations as they went through daily work life at the Chase Center for Training as well as personal life struggles. The book is a stand alone, but I am definitely going back to read the previous books of this series!

As a new author to me I never know what to expect going in or if it will take a bit to get into their writing style. Well I was captivated from the first page and i was immersed into this story the more I read. Katie, well she seemed from the outside to be superficial and a daddy’s girl, but we learn the truth pretty quickly through the eyes of Ramone and also getting her points of view throughout as well. This book had me holding on for all the ups and downs and the gut punches it held. I still have many questions left at the end of this one so I cannot wait to dive in to book 2 as I really need to know what happens .

Chased by Ms. Felicity Brandon was absolutely amazing, I have to say its one of my new favorite bad boy romances. Upon first reading Chased I didn’t realize it was a series and boy am I glad it is because I want more. Ms. Brandon’s characters bring her story to life as you furiously flip through the pages to see what happens next. This bad boy romance has everything a romance lover needs a girl who won’t bend to ever whim, a sexy bad boy, and twists and turns in every chapter. Felicity Brandon will definitely grab your attention in chapter one and leave you guessing until the very end. So if your looking for a bad boy romance to keep you on your toes then I highly recommend Chased by Felicity Brandon.

Wow, so much action! Tom Grant is back to showing us all just how much trouble he can get into in the 3rd book in this series, Motherland. I found this one to be more like the first book in how fast and thick the plot came, and ratcheted up with some steamy romance scenes. Isabella is back in action as well, reminding us she is as smart and deadly as she is sweet and beautiful. Great juxtaposition in her character, it makes for some interesting plot points. I also love me some smart heroines who can handle themselves and do what needs doing in a crisis. Great series, lovers of action, suspense, thriller, spy and even romance will be thrilled with the pace of this narrative. Keep it up Ms. Adair, this is some great writing.

I absolutely fell in love with Wes and Eleanor from the start. I can definitely say it was a whirlwind from their first meeting. The intense feeling between the two will grip at your heart from the start. The way the author flowed in different side characters and their stories within the main just adds so much more to the story. You begin to feel the relationships Eleanor and Wes have yourself. This story packs a punch. Don’t go in just looking for romance. There is so much more and it is wonderful!! I could not put this book down! I believe this can be read as a stand alone but I definitely suggested starting from the first in the series. You won’t regret it!! It will keep you on your toes and keep you wanting more. I cannot wait till the next book!

Eleven years ago, Dane planned on proposing to Mila. Except when he came home one day to find a plane ticket with her name on it and her telling him that she had taken a modeling job….and his life changes in the blink of an eye.
Mila has made a name for herself…and also a few enemies along the way. When she finds her life on the line and needs help…she can only think of one person to fix it…Dane. Sure…they have hooked up when she has come into town…but now she needs him for more than that. When the guy who has been blackmailing her makes good on his promises to destroy her career she must own up to her true identity and all that entails. Dane is not going to make it easy for her. They are both different people and Dane is going to make Mila prove that she is here to stay this time. But when secrets come to light, can they even stay together?
I enjoyed this story. Mila and Dane are both great characters. All the families are filled with good characters. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger…so there are more books to come. I am enjoying this series and will keep reading to find out what happens next.

Motherland: A Tom Grant Novel by Samantha Adair is the third book in the Tom Grant series. This is such an exciting and fast paced book that I found had me on the edge of my seat. The author packed so much into this book and it felt like the pages were just turning themselves. It was full of twists and turns at every point and I really couldn’t have told you how I thought it was going to turn out. Every time I thought I had a grasp on the story the author would change direction. I thought this was a well written book that was gripping from start to finish. I would highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read more.

I enjoyed listening to this military romance audiobook. This was a great book to listen to. The narrator made it fun and entertaining. They made the characters come to life with every word. They are connectable and truly made the story for me. What will happen when one night changes everything for Marcas and Sarena? When a target is placed on Sarena, will Marcas be able to save her before it’s too late? I enjoyed their growth and chemistry. This is a great audio and I highly recommend it.

Terrifying Love: A Halloween Anthology is a collection of 7 stories and additional poems by 8 talented authors. With plenty to choose from- there’s romance, suspense, the supernatural, paranormal, fantasy, Halloween themes, some horror, emotion, and lots more. If you love stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, with enough thrills and chills to keep you hooked, then this is an anthology you will want to add to your reading list. I read quite a lot of anthologies as I love the diversity that can be found within these collections. And this certainly fits the bill, as it has a great mix of storylines, all with their own originality, and assortment of interesting characters. I thought I would just read one story a night, before bed, until I had finished the book- but I got so caught up with it that I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting #sleepisoverrated.
The collection contains: -Bring Him Home By: Serena Nova -His Dancer By: Isobella Dunn -La Siguanaba By: Everly Taylor -Reflections of the Past By: Melody Calder -Runes and Fangs By: Victoria Larque -Bloody Money By: Annelie Janssen -The Patio and the Spade By: Ada Rossi -Poems by Helle Gade
The book contains the work of some authors who I am familiar with, but most stories are from writers who are new to me, so this has been a fantastic introduction to these new (to me) authors- as well as allowing me to catch up with the work from authors that I know and love.

Ok I am not sure how I haven’t picked up this author’s work before but it is absolutely going on my one click list. I jumped head first into the story and even though this wasn’t the first in the series I didn’t feel at a loss in the story or character development. The author does a fantastic job gripping the reader and pulling you right in. I loved this book and look forward to reading more in the series. Highly recommend.

Secure Decision is the fifth instalment in the Chase Security series by R.L Dunn. This is a wonderful addition to the series- another romantic suspense, with drama, danger, emotion, sizzle, angst, trauma, (possible) triggers, family, friendship, secrets, suspense, intrigue, missing women, a body count, veterans, equine therapy, and elite operatives. Wes has just returned from a difficult mission, the events of which he has yet to fully process. He won’t get a chance regroup and recover from that ordeal as an important assignment has him back in the swing of things overseeing this latest mission. But when a body is discovered- things take a dramatic turn. Although this could be read as a standalone, I really recommend reading the previous books before diving into this one, as the other books will help lay foundations (with important information, overlapping details, and character introductions) that will enhance your reading experience of this book. As expected from Ms. Dunn, the story is really well developed- with fantastic characters, gripping scenes, and all the palpable tension and suspense that I have come to expect from her work. #mustread

Dunn – Review by Angela Hayes
This quick listen will leave you glued to your headset. This is a new author to me so first let me say that I can wait to pick up more of her books. Secondly – can we talk about perfect casting for the narrators? Hands down a fantastic listen and one I absolutely recommend.

This audiobook is so intense…no doubt many hot moments as well. When Alexander bumps into Krystina there are sparks no doubt. This story not only has intense, hot moments but there is definite past traumatic times for both Alexander and Krystina. The dominate side of Alexander is hot! At first I was a bit annoyed at Krystina’s character. I found her a little bratty and immature even though she is a very strong and independent woman. I change my thought on that by the end of the story and you find out why. I see why she didn’t want to lose herself or her independence. Great audio and looking forward to finding out what happens in the next book.

Chase is not your average guy, but Allegra is your average girl. When their lives collide, Chase is challenged in a way he’s never been before. “Chased” is an enticing and exciting read. It keeps you engaged the entire time, and it is such a hard book to put down. Read this book if you love bad boys, thrills, and great writing!

Brink of Denial is book two in the Sons of Sindicato series by the seriously talented duo of Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns. Anticipation, check. Build up, alluring. Delivery, on point. This duo spared the reader nothing, and gave everything. Immediately obsessed with this story, I devoured it in one sitting. Mila was on a journey of rediscovering herself and reconnecting with her first and only love, Dane. But he isn’t the man she left behind and has her work cut out for her if she wants to claim him for herself. This story is dark, deep and decadent. Powerful scenes that left me white knuckled and breathless. Passion burned between them. Stubbornness reigned. The hearts desires won out. Brink of denial was exceptionally presented, packed a punch and was unforgettable. Imaginative, dramatic, pulsing goodness. This series is one spicy read. 5 stars.
