Atonement (The McIntire County Series Book 1) by Winter Austin – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Atonement (The McIntire County Series: #1)Atonement by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I enjoy this author’s writing skills that make their stories come to life on every page. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story about redemption, the truth behind the suicides that are happening in this small town and a deputy that has their own past and demons lurking. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning. The characters are relatable, strong characters that made the story easy for me to read. They have great growth as well as add a lot to the story. I found this book to be fast paced, engaging and entertaining to read. You don’t want to miss out on this mystery story. I highly recommend this book.

Atonement (The McIntire County Series: #1)Atonement by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started this book and, quite literally, could not put it down. Nic had grabbed my attention right from the start. By jumping right in with the hostage scene, I was in for the full ride. Nice is a former Marine sniper that is now a Sheriff’s Deputy. She’s trying to keep her PTSD hidden and not doing a great job. Many secrets are hidden in this story and they are coming out. I love the writing. I was nowhere close to figuring out who the culprit was. A definite sign of a good mystery to me. The author throws in twists and turns where you don’t expect them. A little romance between her and Con was lovely. I can’t wait to see where that goes. This is an amazing start to a new series that just blew me away. I can’t wait for the next book.

Atonement (The McIntire County Series: #1)Atonement by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There has not been a book by Winter that I have not really enjoyed. I was excited to get started when I came across this romantic suspense story from her.
Atonement is the first exciting book in The McIntire County Series and follows former marine and McIntire County deputy Nicolette Rivers. Nicolette has had a messy life and suffers from PTSD. When a hostage situation goes wrong Nic’s triggers rear their ugly heads. She is a complex woman, she is strong, but she also has much depth to her. Winter certainly puts this woman through her paces.
Winter has done a great job of showing the war within oneself and PTSD. It is a raw, heart-wrenching and compelling story. Suffering from PTSD myself it made the story that much more real and poignant.
Con is the perfect match for Nic and but to be able to move forward they need to deal with her scarred past.
Winter has cleverly woven several threads together to make this a compelling read and it is one of those books that you just can’t put down because you need to know where it is going and what comes next.
There is suspense, heartache and heartbreak, pain and sorrow, dark secrets, and danger but there is also some laughter.
Atonement almost becomes a dirty word. The Priest most certainly does. With deadly secrets, family, war, tragedy, death and one man’s crazy and another’s love all collide in this tale that you should all get your hands on.
I really liked the characters and found myself caught up in them, the small town and the story. I hope that some of the secondary characters get their own stories.
This is a must read.

Winter Austin perpetually answers the question: “were you born in the winter?” with a flat “nope,” but believe her, there is a story behind her name.

A lifelong Mid-West gal with strong ties to the agriculture world, Winter grew up listening to the captivating stories told by relatives around a table or a campfire. As a published author, she learned her glass half-empty personality makes for a perfect suspense/thriller writer. Taking her ability to verbally spin a vivid and detailed story, Winter translated that into writing deadly romantic suspense, mysteries, and thrillers.

When she’s not slaving away at the computer, you can find Winter supporting her daughter in cattle shows, seeing her three sons off into the wide-wide world, loving on her fur babies, prodding her teacher husband, and nagging at her flock of hens to stay in the coop or the dogs will get them.

She is the author of multiple novels, with more on the way.

Taz (Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter Book 3) by D.M. Earl – Review by Moriah Venable

Taz: (Devil's Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter)Taz: by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I want to start by saying that I absolutely love the cover for this!

Taz is a Mom who kicks a** and takes name especially when it comes to her son, Teddy.

She is the bookkeeper for the Handmaiden’s. When a white supremacy group starts making trouble and the past starts to catch up with her, she finds a family that help protect her and Teddy.

I was not expecting to be so engrossed and captivated by this book as I was. I knew it may pull at my heartstrings but I wasn’t prepared by how much nor how much I would love the characters.

I am not a big fan of different POV chapters but it works very well.

I read that there is another book scheduled to be released in September. I am looking forward to reading it.

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second (and final) book in the Things Unseen series. I highly recommend reading the first book prior to reading this one simply so you have a better understanding of the characters and the trials and tribulations they’ve been through. It will definitely give you a better understanding of them. I found Eden’s writing style to be very addicting. I was pulled in from the beginning and she didn’t let me go until the very last page. This is a romantic suspense, psychological thriller that has drama, twists, turns, emotion, action…you name it…it’s in here. I can’t really say enough good things about this book. It’s fantastic and well written…I couldn’t put it down and I look forward to my next read by Anise Eden.

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a gripping thriller that is every bit as exciting and intense as the first book. It was great to connect with Neve again and see her character develop even more in this book. This book can be read as a standalone but I personally think it is better to read them in order so you can get a full appreciation of the characters and the story.
I was pulled into this book right from the start. It was a fascinating story and I felt like it kept me on the edge of my seat for most of it. This is the kind of book that you have to read in one sitting because it is so good. It took me no time to get through it and yet I could have kept reading for so much longer. This is a fantastic book that I would highly recommend.

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Things Unseen series and once again, the blurb was enough for me to know I’d love this book.

I love that we saw more of Con’s background, his family and homeland in this book. Though even in Ireland, the pair (Neve and Con) aren’t safe from peril, even while still trying to heal from their previous ordeal.

This book has made me fall more in love with Neve and Con than before, something I didn’t think was even possible. After everything they’ve both gone through, they’re so supportive and strong, bringing the best out in each other at their darkest moments.

The tension builds throughout as the danger rises, leaving you concerned for everyone’s safety. You’re left trying to unravel the secrets alongside the characters, rooting for everyone’s survival. I hope there’s another book coming soon as I cannot get enough of this series.

Dead Sound (Things Unseen Series Book1) by Anise Eden – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Dead Sound (Things Unseen, #1)Dead Sound by Anise Eden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Things Unseen series, a psychological thriller which caught my attention from the first sentence of the blurb.

The links between a hospital and government fascinated me by how it all came together. At times you are left considering the possibility that the sources of information aren’t what they’re first made out to be. The what ifs leaving you trying to decipher the meanings behind the things everyone says and does. With all the conspiracy, you are left wondering who can be trusted and desperately hoping for the best outcome for Neve and Con.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style, it flowed well and built tension with the rising danger. The characters were well-constructed, and I honestly can’t decide who I love more, Neve or Con. Neve is just a beautiful human inside and out and you can’t help but love her while Con is both respectful and protective.

I was far more emotionally invested in this story than I was prepared for and I loved it! A brilliant start to the series, I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Dead Sound
By: Anise Eden

This book is a fantastically well written romantic suspense. The characters are amazing. Neve and Con are the perfect type of romance characters. They have a yearning for each other that runs deep but neither really speaks of it and keeps it to themselves. Neve is an incredible strong heroine and Con is incredibly protective of her. However, as in all my favorite books, every character in this book is incredibly complicated and dark and twisted. This is such a very well written book that I cannot recommend enough. It is filled with twists and turns and romance, truthfully it has everything a reader can ask for!

This book is the sequel to Dead Sound. It is a fantastic thriller. It is well written and is filled with twists and turns that kept me reading way late into the night. Con and Neve are incredibly interesting characters. Every part of this plot seemed incredibly unique to me and every time I thought that I had it pretty much figured out, there would be another twist to keep me guessing. I truly enjoyed this book and recommend it for anyone who enjoys a great thriller.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a new to me author and I will for sure be reading more!
I was immediately immersed in this story and felt connected to Keira from the get go.
Keira is the kind of heroine I like, independent, strong and stands up for herself. She has a stalker and has no idea who it could be except maybe someone from her past.
When her run in with her neighbor Cade uncovers he’s in security , she gains someone in her corner.
Cade is on leave from an injury received on his last mission. When his interaction with Keira shows signs she may be in trouble or scared, he steps in and helps, not knowing what messy web he’s really going to uncover.

I can usually guess the who and while I was partly right I wasn’t expecting the how and why.
I can’t wait to read more (hopefully) from this group!

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden

5 Stars

Dead Keen is the second book in the Things Unseen series by Anise Eden. It is a brilliant psychological thriller with romantic suspense elements, medical mystery, action, adventure, tension, intrigue, gripping edge of seat developments, drama, emotion, plots, hidden agendas, and palpable tension.
After reading the first book and loving it as much as I did, I had quite high expectations for this second instalment. I am happy to say that Ms. Eden didn’t disappoint, and this is every bit as good as the first, if not better.
We met Psychotherapist Neve Keane back in book one and now join her and her boyfriend Doctor Con O’Brien on a trip to Ireland to help Con’s family. What happens once they get there makes for some intense reading that had me flipping the pages, reading as fast as I could, because I needed to know how everything would play out in the end. Add in a medical mystery, a demented cult leader, old gods, and a videogame company, and the story really takes off. I lost all sense of time and place as I followed along on the adventure, staying up into the wee hours because I couldn’t put it down until I had read every word. To me, that is a sign of a great book.
This could be read as a standalone if you wanted, without feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything- but having said that, I highly recommend reading the first book, as there are important character details, backstory and other pertinent information that will enhance your reading experience of this book.
I can’t wait to see what happens in Book #3!
Happy reading!

Thank you, Anise Eden!

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great read by Anise Eden!! I don’t want to say much about this one in case you haven’t read the first book yet. It would be super helpful to read it first to get the background on Con and Neve.

Con is finally getting to go home to Ireland after being away for five years. It will be a difficult journey home but he has Neve at his side. Con’s purpose in going back to Ireland is to help his brother out with a potential life altering medical issue. At the same time, he will have to deal with his parents and their psychosocial issues within the family.

Neve has resources that can help Con out but at what price? Can they make a difference in the lives of those at stake?

Again, another read that I highly recommend!!

Oh, this is a good one!!!

A social worker is stabbed while on duty at the hospital and is coming back for her first day of work. No one thinks she’s ready but Neve has had it with sitting at home and playing Scrabble all day. As soon as she walks into her unit, mass chaos starts taking place and Neve is shaken to her core. Maybe she should go home?

Amos is in the ER…again. Dr. Con is prepared to see him for his endocrine issues and Neve is ready to help him with restarting the program that they came up with that was supposedly successful. Amos admits to Neve that he’s the leader of the group that surrounded her a few hours earlier and all of a sudden, everything changes again. Amos begs Neve to read his book and then come back and talk to him. However, Amos ends up having a medical emergency and isn’t able to have visitors for awhile.

I’ll stop there because I don’t want to give anything about this book away. It’s gonna grip you in the first page and have you holding on until the end. There is a little bit of romance, but it’s all very classy. There’s mention of angels being seen. There’s a lot of suspense and tense moments to keep you on the edge of your seat.

I highly recommend this riveting read!

The second book in the Things Unseen series. I definitely recommend reading the first story Dead Sound before even starting this story. This is the second book in this series and the conclusion. I highly suggest you read the previous book before this one to see where the characters have been and where they are going. I enjoyed how the characters not only pulled me into their world but also made me feel a part of it. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. A suspenseful story that has twists and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what would happen next. Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dead Keen is the second book in the gripping Things Unseen series by Anise Eden. I absolutely loved the first book and this one was just as good. You do not have to read them in order as they can be read as standalone, but I implore you to start with the first book and work your way through. You will be missing out on such great stories and insights into the wonderful characters.
With dangers still lurking escaping to the beautiful Emerald Isle, (a place that stole my heart when I visited) seems like just the thing but it soon becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Dead Keen is a page turning psychological thriller where the suspense and tension is palpable. When deadly evil cult leaders, ancient gods and video game designers become involved there are menacing lies and secrets, deceit and deadly dangerous games a foot.
This dangerous world goes far beyond and one with far and wide repercussions. Anise has once again cleverly crafted an intricate and complex web that is masterfully thought out and executed. It is unpredictable, but it has just the right amount of humour.
This is a psychological thriller at its finest and one that should not be missed out on.
Prepare to be delighted if not on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding.

Unfortunately they are not the only ones with the same mission. In this treasure hunt for the final ring, it keeps readers guessing whether or not these brothers will find the final ring or will someone else find it first! Not completely certain whether these dreams are emerging from his anxieties of becoming a new parent or a warning of what’s to come, his brother Aodhan brings more insight to their past to help bring better understanding. This story is action packed and twists and turns.
