This novella is a great addition to its series, yet it can also be read as a stand-alone story. The tempo of the book resonates with echoes of current events. The main characters face extreme circumstances. They manage to infuse the situations with grace and courage. The author lets the reader travel the world through her characters.

From the start of the book, it’s very entertaining and action-packed. Obviously, there is a backstory of the main character thrown in the mix of the present story to better understand her point of view throughout the story. Overall, the story is very well written and easy to follow. I do like how the author does put the enemy’s point of view at certain points in the story. It does make it easier to comprehend what’s going on with the enemy’s side.
Vincent and Cade are brothers, Lecia is Cade’s wife. Cade has gone to Greece to perform with his band and he talks Lecia into coming with him. While there his brother is working on a case and is providing security for Cade and Lecia.
A really good book that I don’t want to tell you much more and give too much away I think you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Have you ever been up and decided you would read one chapter of your new book so that you can get sleepy and fall asleep a little faster. This is not the book to do that with. I started reading it thinking I could put it down after one chapter, no. I was fifty percent of the way through reading the book when I fell asleep. I woke up with my kindle on my chest where I finally dropped it when I fell asleep. Then every chance I had to read I would pick it up and keep going.
Harper is talking to a Gallery owner about showing her work when her brother keeps calling her, interrupting her meeting she finally picks up the phone. She hears her brother scream on the other end and then checks her email to see if he has sent her anything there to find out that yes he had sent her a video. Will’s best friend and army buddy, Caleb, meets up with Harper to help her try and find her brother.
If you want a really good book I suggest you check this one out. I am so glad that I did.

This is the second book of the London Detective Agency series. It focuses on James, who investigates a stalker case for the local bakery owner, Tessa. This book continues along with the first book in the series and contains all of our favorite characters and many new ones. I loved how James finally finds someone to keep him from being such a huge workaholic in the office and gets him to get out a little more from his daily habits of spending way too much time at work. What a great mystery that has you second-guessing who the stalker may be. It casts a light of suspicion at so many of your favorite characters but beware not all are as good as they seem. This book has a lot of exciting scenes in it and will make you anxious to read it from cover to cover, so grab a snack and get ready for a fun read. Happy reading everyone, until next time! @Brandy Rymer 08/2024

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. I enjoy her ability to add romance and suspense together in a non-stop story. Her characters are creative and written with a lot of heart. This book is no different. It is a well written story that is both engaging and hard to put down. This is a story that is full of betrayal, deception, love and murder. The characters are connectable and relatable. I enjoyed how they brought the story to life on every page. They have great growth throughout which makes it easy to read and entertaining. They pull you into their world and keep me turning pages fast to see what will happen next. This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. This is a great story and series. I highly recommend this book and this series.

This was the first book I had picked up by this author, but the cover alone was incredibly intriguing. Once I read the synopsis, I knew I was in for quite a ride. I dove right in and lost myself in this gripping story that is packed with suspense! Harper is an incredible main character, and the chemistry between her and Caleb is magnificent. The author has created characters that you root for and feel their experiences as your own. Just when I thought I figured out what was happening, another twist was waiting around the corner! I couldn’t find one slow moment to put this book down, so I ended up reading the entire thing in a day. I don’t regret it, and I’d do it again! With this being the first book I had read by this author, it blew me away and set the bar pretty high for the next. I’m excited to see what they have in store for us next! If you enjoy the romantic suspense genre, don’t pass this up!
Wow! I did not expect to like this as much as I did as it’s not my typical genre/tropes. When Tessa realizes she is being stalked, and she gets no help from the police, she hires a private detective, and things take off from there. The suspense was suspensing. The romance was romancing. A slow, will they, won’t they. The climax of the story had me literally gasping lout loud. This book was inclusive and had a wonderful steady plot from start to finish.

“ He cleared his throat and squirmed, not meeting my gaze in the reflection of the mirror. “I moved your, uh… bra… so I wouldn’t get it wet.” Blinking, my mouth dropped open while I watched this hulk of a man— a Delta Force operator, capable of taking out five men without breaking a sweat— grow uncomfortable because of my bra. I bit my lip to contain a laugh.”
Finally, I looked up to his face. “If I’d lost you,” I croaked, the meds loosening my tongue. Shaking his head, he held me at arm’s length and met my gaze. “I’m kind of like gum on your shoe— not that easy to get rid of.”
“I’m just wondering who exactly the enemy is.” He paused. “And if I’ve been fighting the wrong war all these years.” I laid a hand on his arm. “We knew when they ambushed us in the park there was a connection up the chain of command. The question is how high it goes.”
The Taste of Treachery by Emily Bybee is a gripping and suspenseful romantic suspense oozing with tension, intrigue, and mystery. I was drawn to this book by the gorgeous cover, diving in to find a story of corporate greed, dangerous experimental chemicals, government cover-ups, conspiracy, high stakes, and ruthless pursuit. Harper’s world is turned upside down when she receives a distress call from her brother who is serving in the armed forces overseas. His call is cut short- leaving Harper beside herself with worry- especially when he seems to drop off the face of the earth. Then she discovers an email sent by her brother that leads her on a dark and dangerous investigation in the hopes of finding him alive. With the help of her brother’s best friend, Caleb- these two are in for a tense adventure that uncovers a conspiracy with far-reaching and deadly consequences, and the trail leads from a greedy corporation right into the heart of Washington and the powerful movers and shakers who run the country. When Harper and Caleb are targeted by ruthless assassins, and the people around them start to become casualties, these two have no choice but to face danger head-on. What happens, you might ask? Well, this is definitely worth the read to find out all the intriguing developments for yourself. I was totally invested in this story and characters, both impressed by them, while also frustrated at times by their lack of logical thinking. Things like Harper having flaming-red hair, becoming a ‘wanted person’, but not once thinking to cover her hair, or dye it etc- just run around with a very identifiable feature for the assassins to follow. Also, she is a hacker- and yet for the majority of the story she did very little in the way of ‘hacking’. I would have had her hack her way into the corporation, the politicians, and any other relevant parties to get the dirty on them well and truly before everything got so out of hand lol…. But it did make for some tense encounters- so get set for a wild ride! Looking forward to more from Ms. Bybee. Happy Reading…

Be My Little Baby (London Detective Agency Book @) by Stephanie R. Caffrey is my first read by this author and she delivered! Of course, like always, I have not read the first book of the series, but I didn’t feel to left behind by starting with the second book. I will be going back to read the first book so that way I can get the full gist of the second book. I thought that the story flowed well and like I said, that is without having the information from the first book in the series. I was captivated by Tessa and James’ interactions with each other. Tessa is a new bakery owner and expects that it will take a while to get her business off the ground, but she is in for a big surprise! Unfortunately for Tessa, she has acquired a stalker who will not leave her be, so Tessa has to seek help from James (the detective). James tries his best to keep things with Tessa strictly professional, but there is something about her that makes him want to break his own rules. I thought that this book was entertaining, funny, very well written and just overall a good story. I will definitely be going back and reading the first book in the series, and I encourage you to pick up a copy and read for yourself!

This story of a strong-minded woman with her own business and how she met every challenge – even a stalker. The successful Miller & Moore Investigations are on the case. The characters in this book are each unique and delightful as their stories unfold. I loved the friendships, the bonds and the desire to be there for each other. James Moore and his bestie Evelyn can always count on each other for the truth as they tease each other like siblings. Tessa Lopez and her bestie Freddie are there for each other without hesitation. Joseph McClearly, roommate and police officer is always true to himself. It takes everyone working together to solve this case. This sweet romance is a great feel-good read.

This is book 2 in the London Detective Agency series and it can totally be read as a stand-alone. I have not read the first book in this series and I absolutely loved this book. There is some cross-over as the main characters from book one are also in this book. Tessa goes to James at closing time on a Friday night to hire the agency to help her discover who is leaving her notes and taking pictures of her. James and his partner in the agency are on the case. Can the find the person terrorizing Tessa? Wonderful storyline with very likeable characters. I will definitely be reading the others in this series.

I was a fan of the first book in this series, and looked forward to book two’s release for months. I’m so glad the author decided to give James his own story. Love the English lingo, the mystery/suspense, and romance in these books. They both kept me wanting to read til the last page.
Be My Little Baby is James and Tessa’s story. She comes to James and his PI business with his brother for help with some worrying letters and photos she’d been receiving when the police turned her away. James and Tessa immediately have chemistry but James won’t date a client to keep thing professional. When Tessa’s stalker becomes more threatening, can James figure out who it is and put a stop to it in time? Will he give into his feelings for her?

The Taste of Treachery by Emily Bybee was a fantastic romantic, military, suspense thriller, and thrill it did. Harper studied computer science which makes her a uniquely qualified candidate to handle a situation she finds her self in. When her brother disappears and no one is doing anything about it due to his past and mental health history she finds it’s up to herself and her brothers best friend to unravel this government conspiracy she suspects is going on. It’s full of twists, turns, manipulation, mystery, high stakes, and I couldn’t put it down.

This is book 2 in the London Detective Agency. I did not read book 1 (but will be next) so there are a few things I feel like I’m missing as far as background but that doesn’t in any way change the flow of the story. You can read it out of order and still love this book! Tessa is a bakery owner who doesn’t expect to be thrust into the limelight the way she is with her new bakery and has to go to James for help when an over zealous stalker will not stop. For his part he tries to follow his don’t date clients rule but, well he fails. This book is funny, well written, and a great story. Like I said before I’ll be going to the first in the series next!

Be My Little Baby (London Detective Agency Book 2) by Stephanie R Caffrey. This is James and Tessa’s story and it can be read as a standalone but I always recommend reading them in order. Tessa has just opened a bakery and has become very successful overnight and thinks things are going quite well. Someone begins to send her threatening letter and photos she realizes she has a stalker and is very concerned. Tessa decides that she needs to hire James a Private Investigator and his crew to help her find who is stalking her. The threats get more serious and even include photos where someone has been looking in her windows. There is a growing attraction between James & Tessa but James has sworn off not dating his clients. Will they find the stalker before he actually hurts Tessa and will James & Tessa make a go at a relationship. Read this fun mysterious romance to find out!

Be My Little Baby is the second book in the London Detective Agency series by Stephanie R. Caffrey. I read it as a stand-alone but I would bet it’s much better read in order. In this book, we follow Tessa and James as they try to solve a stalking case. Tessa, part-owner and head baker of Cake Me Home Tonight, has been receiving concerning letters for weeks. When they start to include peeping Tom photos, she hires James and his detective agency to help. As the stalker gets bolder, James and Tessa also fight a growing attraction. This clean mystery was well-paced with relatable characters. Grab your tea and head to London to solve the case!

Be My Little Baby is the next installment of the London Detective Agency series. And it did not disappoint. The author gives us back characters we love with others mixed in. I enjoyed reading this book more than the previous one. In saying that I know that the books do not have to be read in order this book works extremely well as a standalone. Though you may want to go back to find out the other detective’s story. James is a workaholic. But he loves his job. Looking at another weekend at home James is thrown when Tessa ends up at his door. Tessa has a stalker but a harmless one, based on the police department. So she turns to the detective agency, bringing them in and hoping they take her seriously. A simpleton who slowly raised the escalations led James to believe he may be harmless. However he agreed to investigate anyway. Which is exactly what pushes the stalker to take it up a notch. Attracted to one another will they be able to keep their feelings at bay while they solve the mystery of who is stalking Tessa? Time to test the limits and job in and be just as intrigued and thrilled to be engulfed in this story.

Wow, if I would have known how much I was going to love this book, I would have blocked my schedule more It was hard to put down and pushed my multi-tasking skills. I enjoyed Evie & Patrick’s story in book 1 and was excited to hear more about James. Tessa is such an amazing person, very goal driven so it was obvious right from the start that she would be great for James. Invested from the beginning and shocked by how attracted he is to her, James wants to solve Tessa’s stalking case quickly so that he can ask her out; however Patrick & Evie don’t let him wait. Their relationship blooms quickly, but also escalates the stalker so that the police can be involved. I was happy to see that James and Patrick are friends with Joe, his presence in this book was awesome. You could potentially read this as a standalone but I feel you get so much more out of the relationships by reading them as a series.

Wow, what a good romantic suspense read. Tessa, who started a bakery that has done so much better than she originally thought, until she starts being stalked of course, and James, a private investigator that she is hoping will be able to put an end to it. What they didn’t foresee coming, and are not particularly thrilled about, was their attraction to each other. This is book two of the London Detective Agency Series, I haven’t read book one, but I was still able to enjoy this book. Be My Little Baby had great flow, and I loved the twists, turns, and suspense throughout the novel, and I really liked the well developed, lifelike characters.

This book is all about chemistry! There is the chemistry of baking and then there is the chemistry between Tessa and James!
Tessa is hoping that her little bakery will bring about a lot of business, as she’s new to the area and wanting to do well. She never expected for things to progress as quickly as they have, and on top of that, there are some very threatening photographs and letters that could damage her business and reputation. That’s where James steps in. He’s a private investigator that is easy on the eyes. He won’t date a client though but could Tessa find a way to his heart through her baking?
This is the second book in a series. This can be read as a standalone but why not go back and pick up the first one?! You’ll see some characters from the previous book make an appearance in this one.

James Moore is happy in his life, after solving one of biggest cases of him and his partners case against the mafia they are propelled into the limelight. With cases building up he is so busy, but when Tessa asks for his help he can not refuse there is just something about the baker that has him is a twist. So as the work on finding her stalker can he keep his mantra of “don’t date the clients” or will he go to the beautiful woman.
Tessa is happy building her bakery up and with the popularity growing she is in her element but there is something not quite right, when she discovers she has a stalker and the police can’t help her who can she turn to but the handsome PI James Moore. James decides to help her but as they work closely together there chemistry is off the charts but although they are attracted to each other he has a rule of not getting involved with his clients but when they start blurring the lines it becomes worth the risk.
This the first story I have read in this series and with this author and I can say I will reading more. The story can be read as a standalone and you can follow the back history of the main characters and get the gist of what they have done.
I loved the character of James with his relaxed and work obsessed life until Tessa comes into his life. The dynamic between Patrick, Evelyn and James is lovely to read and shows they really care about each other in the story. Even when James is trying to stay professional you are willing the two of them to get together.
The twists and turns in this book are brilliant to read and will have you at the end of your seat, the suspense is just enough to peak the interest and get you carry on reading til the very end. The characters are well developed and the story is brilliantly written, I will definitely be reading more.

Another exciting and fast paced romantic suspense novel in this series. This time it’s private detective James Moore who comes to the aid of a damsel in distress. Tessa Lopez’s bakery is the most popular in London, but she’s worried as she has a stalker. When she starts to receive threatening letters and photographs, and with the police not helping, she decides to hire a private investigator. Tessa and James have an instant undeniable chemistry which only grows as they work together to find her stalker. However, James has a rule that he doesn’t date clients and so fights his attraction for Tessa. The pair find themselves in danger when it’s clear the stalker wants Tessa for himself. I love a forbidden love story and this one had me hooked. Tessa and James chemistry sizzled off the page. The suspense built chapter by chapter and the plot twists kept me guessing. An enjoyable and engaging read.

4 Stars Be My Little Baby (London Detective Agency Series) by Stephanie R. Caffrey
Be My Little Baby is the second book in the London Detective Agency Series and is a Romantic Suspense that pulled me in from the beginning and kept me turning the pages till the end. The characters are fully developed and relatable and complex, their chemistry is off the charts and they bring the story to life. I had a terrible time putting it down and read late into the night. The twists and turns had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. There’s just the right amount my mystery and suspense to keep you guessing. I don’t want give anything away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This is a good second story in the series. This is a nicely done mystery/romance. The romance is quick and well done. The author puts enough extras in so it is difficult to figure out the “who dunnit”. We get to see how James will go about getting his girl and protect her from danger. We get a look into how James will go about getting her stalker and the trouble they get into. Things really pick up near the end and it all rounds out nicely.
