A Girl, Stuck (Found Families Series) by Kelly Elizabeth Huston

A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families Series and is a Romantic Suspense that will have you turning the pages till the end. This can be read as standalones but I’m definitely going to check out the other two books in this series. I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in , but what I found was a wonderfully written story with characters that I couldn’t get enough of. I pretty much devoured this book in one afternoon because I simply had to know how everything was going to play out. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next and im looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This is the first book I have read by Kelly, and I found I really liked it. I have read this as a standalone and not read the first two books. Although they follow on from each other they can be read as standalones as I did, and I did not feel as though I was missing out.
A Girl, Stuck is a fun fast-paced crime story that is at times dark but intriguing. It is full of suspense, mystery, some violence and heartache but there is also laughter to be had at times too. It is a well written and engaging tale one that I could not be put down.
Harry is no wilting flower; she is witty, and she can give as good as she gets but she also has a vulnerability about her hidden under her tough exterior. Whilst trying to solve her police detective dad’s murder she risks it all, reputation and career when she trespasses into the underworld of crime. Yet it is within this criminal world that she happens upon one that will change her world.
A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families Series that should not be missed.

This book is a great story that is full of twists and turns the whole way through. I expected the story to be a mystery and to be intriguing, but I wasn’t expecting to find it so entertaining and amusing. I found it really made me connect to the characters even more. The book is the kind of one that has enough going on that I had to read it all in one sitting to see how it played out.
This book is the first one that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style. It let you as the audience connect to the characters and everything that was going on. I thought this was an exciting read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

Critical Care (Chase Care Book 6)Critical Care by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing quick read. I fully enjoyed the characters and their development throughout the story. It has everything you would want in a romance. The push and pull of whether or not they want to take a chance on love again. There is medical jargon that allows you to feel the presence of what they are doing but isn’t so over the top that you don’t understand. It showed a depth of knowledge from the author but made it were anyone could read it and understand. I loved that, I am by no means in the medical field and felt completely confident in what was happening. It does have a lot of super sweet mushy romance in the beginning with endearment that I wasn’t sure I could read the whole thing if it was like that. Then you turn the page and all of sudden there is a suspense plot line that I didn’t see coming. It is amazing to be able to have the romance and the suspense in such a way that you don’t want to put the book down. This read was super quick and I loved every minute of it. This is the 6th book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I have read others in this series so I knew a little of what to expect. Having said that, this was a really fresh take on a story line that I didn’t see coming and I enjoyed every minute of it. Each book that I have read in this series has not disappointed me and it keeps me coming back for more.

This was an excellent read. an exciting, suspenseful read that brings back “Harry” who meets Trey. She wants in and he wants out. I found the characters to have a terrific chemistry. Though there was danger around and in, the humor was also in the story. I laughed through a lot of it. It was a funny story with suspense and romance that I would definitely recommend. I will be going back to read the previous two.

Wow! I just LOVE these stories! This was just as thrilling as the previous in the series have been. I read this in a couple days. The story is action packed with a suspenseful side. This just Wowed me! I loved how we dive right in and the story really entranced me. The main characters are nothing short of extraordinary. Finlay is so confident and strong! She won’t let another push her around or treat her poorly. She is not afraid to stand up for herself and the way she finagles her way in and out of tight spots is impressive. Drake is one of the team we learn a bit about in here. He basically has one job to do but does not realize who he is up against. Then he has to reassess the whole situation.

Secondary characters are plentiful. They all had a purpose and they served it well. My only issue is it seemed that once they were off-page they disappeared to either never be heard from again or until their purpose was served. I get the main storyline is about whats going on between the MC but a line stating they made it to safety or something would have sufficed.

Overall this is an exciting and thrilling adventure we tag along on. I look forward to more in this series!

A Girl, StuckA Girl, Stuck by Kelly Elizabeth Huston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really intriguing and interesting read. It is a mixture of a crime, mafia, and romance all mixed together to create a unique story that I couldn’t put down. The author does an really great job with the characters as well. I loved Harriett. My heart went out to her as she struggles with things from her past as well as struggling with losing her father in the line of duty.
She is on a mission to find out who murdered her father and knows she has to infiltrate the crime family to find the answers she is looking for.
With her background and experiences she thinks this will be a walk in the park what she doesn’t expect is Trey.

Trey is part of the crime family and is set on working his way to the top. The chemistry between Harriett (Harry) and Trey is sizzling and could end up getting them both burnt.
Harriett really wants him to change she believes it’s not too late for him to change but is she right?
Could she be placing herself into a dangerous situation emotionally as well as physically?

This is a story filled with twists and turns, danger and intrigue. It is fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. I had to know whether Harriett solves the mystery of her father’s death and saves the man she is attracted to or if she will end up losing everything. This is a great read.

An absolute page turner! Harriet “Harry” Smith is on a mission to find who killed her father. She knows that in order to that, she needs to infiltrate a dangerous crime family. She goes as prepared as she can be with her private investigator and criminology professor background and experiences with surveillance jobs. What she doesn’t expect that she should have prepared for is the insane and dangerous chemistry she finds with Trey, a man with the drive to work his way up the ranks within the family.

They both know they aren’t really any good for the other. Harry wants to save him and doesn’t think it’s too late. Is she right? Will they be able to resist the temptation of the other or will it burn them with its spark?

This is a new-to-me author but I really enjoyed her style of writing in this story. She has a way of making story well-balanced with adventure, mystery, and comic levity.

Characters in this story were of a huge interest to me. The ones I loved initially, I didn’t think so much of by the end and vice-versa. There were several times I found myself falling out of love with someone that I thought was pretty cool at first.

An enjoyable read!

Critical Care is Book 6 in the Chase Care series….and I have to say this is my favorite book in the series so far. The intensity, edge of my seat feeling with drama, danger, action, romantic suspense..I really enjoyed this book very much. This story ran high on my emotions…and I am looking forward to what is in store by this author.

Tim Holland is part of the Chase Care team as facility director and also was in the Navy…Tim knows all about putting others first. When he meets Willow, who is a traveling nurse, there are definite sparks between them. When Chase Care suspects tampering with chemotherapy drugs, Tim and Willow will have to find out who is behind this and also with Willow’s past coming to be part of the fight to find out why this is happening….definitely makes for an interesting team. Will they be able to solve the mystery whom is behind this tampering…..when Tim is faced with a medical issue….will Willow be able to be there for him when he needs her the most…

Definitely read and find out…..this is a great book and I do not want to give away any spoilers :).

A Girl, Stuck (Found Families Series) by Kelly Elizabeth Huston

Moments from her small but pivotal role in A Very Crowded House, Harriet “Harry” Smith begins her own story where an Ivy League education, her wit, and talented two hands make no promises, least of all the promise of a happily-ever-after.
A typically tough private investigator and criminology professor, Harry Smith distracts herself from heartbreak by diving headlong into her latest surveillance job. On a steamy New York City night, she sets out on foot, cocksure and reckless, landing face to face with Trey Popov, a serious rising star in the Trubetzkoy crime family whose eyelashes just might be worth killing for. She escapes the verboten interaction but when the two meet again, Harry plunges undercover as a wholesome schoolteacher who turns Trey’s head despite his compulsion to climb the criminal ladder.
Harry’s unconventional, clandestine scheme and forbidden attraction combust in a violent disaster. All she can do is work toward justice for her murdered police detective-dad. Along the way, she hopes to rescue the good bad guy too far down the wrong road to be saved. For Harry, doing the right thing is also the hardest thing, but crossing some lines isn’t in your DNA when you bleed blue. Devastated by heartache, goaded by ambition, and blinded by attraction, Harry’s allegiances falter, and the differences between academic theory and real life prove that no one makes it out unchanged. Hell, some don’t make it out at all.

Shadowed Deception is the third book in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. I have been really enjoying this series, so there was no question whether I would be reading this instalment or not. I dove in as soon as it hit my Kindle and lost myself in the story for a few hours.
I felt this book amped things up a bit, and for me, it deemed like it was a bit edgier with more darker tones than the previous two books had- which I loved. It is a thrilling romantic suspense with danger, dramatic developments, tension, chemistry, agendas, action, mystery, the shadowy underworld of human trafficking, emotion, adventure, twists, secrets, lies, deception, layers, interesting characters, a web of intrigue, and steam — which all added up to a very engrossing read….. and (the book/series) would translate well onto the screen as well, making for a great movie.
I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Mavery Ellscott!

This is the 3rd book in the DAG Team Series. This is the first one that I have read and I didn’t feel like I was lost so it can be read as a stand alone. It did make me want to go back and read the first 2 books. Mateo wanted out of his life of crime. Janey had finally got her life on track after escaping her abusive home life. Neither of them expected to see the other again. He had saved her before, could he do it again? Would the twist of fate that brought them together destroy them both? The dynamic between Mateo and Janey is sweet and spicy. I absolutely loved the characters in this story.

4 – 4.5 Stars

Critical Care is the sixth book in the Chase Care Series by R.L Dunn. As mentioned before, this medical thriller series is a spin-off from one of Ms. Dunn’s other great series- ‘Chase Security’- but the books can definitely be read as standalones, if you wanted. But, having said that, you might just find that one book won’t be enough to satisfy your new cravings.
This is a medical thriller/romantic suspense- with action, darker elements, second chances, dramatic developments, tension, danger, mystery, thrills, love, sacrifice, thrills, agendas, secrets, angst, intrigue, chemistry, sizzle, intensity, and much more.
Tim and Willow are going to be put through the ringer here that’s for sure. Bringing plenty of heart pounding moments as well as tugging on the heart strings, and even a few cheesy moments that made me smile. I don’t want to give too much away and spoil it for you- but Tim’s personal battle thrusts him into a situation he never saw coming and intertwines his path with Willow’s/. What happens makes for an engrossing multi-layered story that had me completely invested the whole way through.
I’m not sure whether there are more books in this series still to come, but no matter what, I am happy to read whatever Ms. Dunn produces next.
Happy Reading…

Thank You, R.L Dunn!

Either way, this was another fantastic book by this author. The twists and turns will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Tim and Willow discover that someone has been tampering with chemotherapy medication. They put their lives at risk to stop whoever is sabotaging something that could harm millions of people. Will they be able to stop the bad guys? This can be read as a standalone but I can guarantee that you will be going back to read the other stories in this series. Hats off to the author for not only another great book but another great series.

A gripping psychological thriller with plenty of suspense and romance and a touch of humour. Investigative journalist, Finlay Giammarino has an article fit for the front page, but it has also put her life in danger. She wants to expose the owner of a trendy nightclub in the heart of Paris, as she’s discovered it is a front for a human trafficking ring. It is also the only lead she has to finding her friend’s missing sister. Finley is determined to bring the men at the top to justice, and so in desperation asks former Navy SEAL, and journalist hater, Drake Reeves for help. The pair then find themselves immersed in a world of secrets and lies but to find the truth they must unravel the deception. This was a real fast paced, page turner with an action-packed storyline and plenty of plot twists which kept me hooked. Both the characters and the setting come to life through the descriptive narrative making me feel immersed in the story. It is the third instalment in an enjoyable and exciting series of standalone novels.

I am really enjoying this series and am hoping that there will be more books to enjoy! This author is making her way to my favorites list also. I enjoy her writing style and the stories that she weaves.

This book could be read as a stand alone but I would recommend you starting at the beginning of the series to get the full story on how Shadow Defense came to be.

This story started off just a tad slow for me but that was short-lived. I soon found myself lost in the story and read this all in one setting. There is a lot of action and suspense with a little bit of romance thrown in. You’ll find yourself loving a character then hating them the next page. This book does discuss some difficult issues so use caution if this would bother you.

A great read that goes by quickly!

Critical Care (Chase Care Book 6)Critical Care by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading this book while waiting for my own medical diagnosis and results was rather difficult at first. It took me several days to get my head into this story and that is no fault of the author or the actual writing. As a mother of a childhood cancer survivor there is no way I would have been able to read this story while my son was going through the same chemo treatments as others in this story.

Almost half way through the book Tim Holland had an epiphany of sorts after his own medical crisis…”He was not going to let his fear stop him from living his life, even if things looked different than they did before.”

This story has just enough medical jargon to be realistic but basic enough for the reader to understand and not get lost in unknown medical terms. I absolutely loved the mystery in this book. The way the Chase Care team works together to discover the answers and save lives, gives readers and minor characters hope for a better future.

I was pleasantly shocked to find out this was book 6 in the Chase Care Series! I was able to understand the dynamic between many of the couples and the team themselves. Good to know I have more to read by this author and with these fun and determined characters.

Critical Care is the sixth book in the Chase Care Series. This is a Romantic Suspense that had me turning the pages till the end. I love me a good Medical Romance and this one definitely checks all those boxes. This whole series has been amazing and im definitely going to be rereading in the future. There’s plenty of action, drama, suspense, danger, thrills, chills and moments my heart was beating so fast from the suspense and not knowing what was going to happen next. I think this series gets better and better and this is my favorite yet. This is Tim and Willow’s story. He’s the Facility Director and seasoned pararescue jumper. Willow is a strong woman who is trying to get ahead on her past and bad relationship choices and is a traveling nurse. She’s got a healing heart and lots of passion for her job and patient’s. What will happen when Chase Care discovers there’s meds that have been tampered with? Get ready for a wild heart thumping ride . I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. This is a fantastic read. The two main characters are Kai and Waters and they have a absolutely wonderful story. They are well written and I loved how it had the elements of a movie that needed done and a SEAL being called into consult on the movie. Both characters were amazing and I really loved watching them come together to work and then possibly come together for more. This was my first book written by Nicole Craig and I loved every last page. I am looking forward to reading more by her in the future.
