The Hawke Collection is a very fun read and keeps you on your toes. All the characters are dealing with their own issues and figure out how to resolve them to improve themselves. The issues the characters are dealing with are very relatable. The way the author keeps the story going is very well done.

Six stories in the Hawke Family Collection by Gwyn McNamee. The stories start off with a bang in Savage Collision as Danika Ericksson storms into Savage Hawkes office demanding answers about her sister. Intense chemistry builds throughout the story that is a rollercoaster ride. Next in the collection is Tortured Skye with Gabe Anderson falling for his best friend’s sister Skye. Skye is full of fire and even when Gabe pushes her away, she can’t help falling for him. Stone Sober is Stone and Nora’s story. Stone has told himself that Nora is off limits, but he gravitates to her. When push comes to shove, he is all in with Nora, but his life begins to spiral out of control will he be able to fix it before he loses everything? Building Storm has Storms life is crashing hard around her and she doesn’t know where to turn until Landon comes into her life. Tainted Saint is Caroline and Saint’s story that has Saint getting his long-awaited chance with Caroline. Lastly is Steele Resolve with Byron in a one-night stand with Luca but when Luca shows up at the Hawkes his world shaken.

This was a wonderful compilation of stories. Each book is completely different then the next but the characters from the previous book play major parts in the story. Stone Sober was my favorite in the bunch but they all are terrific. Definitely going to check out other books by this talented author.

Important m/m between main characters. It has a Romeo Juliet feel too it unless you want to say Romeo and Romeo. It’s not just about sex either. Which makes me love the book even more. It has a storyline of the two men Luca aka Steele and Byron falling in love and there struggles.

I really loved this collection of stories. Each book follows a different member of the Hawke family. They are full of steamy romance but also an element of danger and the twists and turns make these books so easy to get lost in.
Every member of the Hawke family has a story to tell and each one of them is flawed and has problems and secrets but as they find love we slowly see them grow and overcome their issues. But it’s never an easy journey and there are plenty of bumps along the way to send them off course.
These stories will make you smile and cry but one things for sure you will definately fall in love with each member of the Hawke Family.
It’s a collection I read over 3 days because I literally couldn’t put it down. Such amazing writing and characters.

The Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Hawke Family Complete Collection is all the books in the first series by Gwyn. I was so excited when she made a complete collection. What could be better than having all 6 books at your fingertips to read one after the other. My first book I read by this wonderful author was Savage Collision and that is where my love of her writing began.

Savage Collision – Danika Eriksson is a woman on a mission, a mission to save her baby sister from the man who has seemingly drawn her into the seedy side of life, a strip club. She is like a dog with a bone and is hell bent on giving the man what for. She is intelligent, feisty and outspoken and not one to back down. When she comes face to face with one Savage Hawke, she gives him a piece of her mind an unapologetic piece at that. What she didn’t expect however was her attraction to him. I love the way our heroine doesn’t stay away from a good confrontation and speaks her own mind especially when it comes to those she loves most. Savage is certainly surprised when confronted by this woman who waltzed her way into his club to give him a piece of her mind. Hell, he may even like it. God knows his past has been one hell of a struggle with a monumental secret. But he has built a good life and has come so far in a few short years. Together they could be good, but will the threats be too much, and could a good thing be over before it even starts? Will Savage be able to save his girl, or will she be lost forever? Can Savage overcome his past to really see his future? Has Dani bitten off more than she can chew?
I love the way things develop between our two main characters, especially when she realises Savage is really a good guy an exceptionally sexy one at that. I also enjoyed the little twists the author weaved within the story. It is filled with love, romance, suspense and regret. There was moment when I was biting my nails as things develop but there were also times of emotion that threatened to spill over. It is certainly a rough road for these two and I was rooting for them all the way. I also loved that our heroine was so freely able to speak her mind and what she actually said often had me laughing out loud. Gwyn McNamee is a must on everyone’s to READ list.

Tortured Skye – Tortured Skye (Hawke Family Novels) is the second book in the series by Gwyn McNamee and is an erotic contemporary romance that will set you on fire. I love anything Gwyn writes, and the Hawke Family series is one of my favourites. The emotions that Gwyn instils in her stories has the ability to grab you from the very first page and keeps you titillated right until the very last word. Skye Hawke has lost one half of herself and is still trying to come to terms with it by hiding her pain behind her stubborn and hot headedness and downright rudeness. She also has a secret, a secret she has had since she was sixteen years old. Gabe Anderson doesn’t do commitment, but now that he has noticed his best friend’s little sister is no longer little, he has more to lose whichever way he turns. Love the woman and lose the best friend or keep the best friend and lose the woman.

Stone Sober – was not what I expected, it was better. Gwyn is a great storyteller, and this is one of my favourite series. I have loved the other two books in the series, but this is my favourite so far, they just keep getting better and better, if that is even a possibility. Gwyn weaves lots of twists and turns that will have your heart pumping and emotions running all over the place. There are laughter and tears, sorrow and doubt, confusion and heartache, love and heartbreak and that is just naming a few. It is a little dark as well and that just adds to the excitement, drama and thrills. Stone is the baby of the family and has just returned home but he is not so sure that is a good thing. He has a secret that only one other person knows, a secret that has led him down the wrong path, a secret that he uses vices to try to escape from. Now he has found a new vice and knows he needs to stay away or ruin a beautiful thing. Nora is smart and sexy and turned away from a brilliant career to strip but no one knows her reasons and no one understands but it is the perfect job, it is freeing and that is just what she needs for now. But when she finally finds out who hides in the corner, in the shadows her life will forever be changed. Trust me this is an amazing story, and you will not want to put it down. It is hot and dark and forbidden and oh so good.

Building Storm – just blew me out of the water. I thought Stone was my favourite and now Building Storm has surpassed my expectations. Gwyn is an amazing writer and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. This story I devoured in one sitting, even though I had to get up for work the next day I absolutely could not set it aside. I was so wrapped up in the story time was gone before I even came up for air. Gwyn knows just the right ingredients to weave together to give you an experience you will not forget. Your heart will be pumping and jumping out of your chest and your emotions running all over the place. I felt as though I was the one in the story as I felt it all. I laughed, I cried and sobbed, my sorrow and love were real, my heart broke and at times I could not breathe. It is as beautiful as it is dark, it is as wonderful as it is sad, and it is raw and powerful. The complexity of the characters and their lives and the plot is a work of art. There will be no spoilers on this review as the story speaks for itself.

Tainted Saint – is one story I have been waiting for, Caroline’s story. I have said it before, but I will say it again, Gwyn is an amazing writer and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. As usual I devoured this story in one sitting. It is a quick and easy read, but I wished there was more. Caroline hid behind the mask and decided to let her inhibitions out for one glorious night with the man she thought didn’t even know she was alive. Saint has loved her since the very first time he saw her, but he is not good enough for her. One night is all he wants until he tastes her and then he knew he had to make her his. Gwyn is definitely a go to whenever a new story comes along.

Steele Resolve – is sadly the last book in this great series. I suggest you read all the books in the series in order so that you get the complete picture and backstories of all the wonderful characters. I have come to love all the characters in this series and am glad that Gwyn included Luca as part of the Hawke family. This sexy M/M romance is a story where it is bad enough being a mob boss without throwing being gay into the mix makes for one suspenseful and explosive story. Luca has come home and wants back into the Hawke family that he had when they were younger but when you are the son of one of the most dangerous mob bosses, you are by default just as bad as your surname. What he didn’t expect was to find the one person who could make his life complete. Byron can’t stop thinking about the man he had just had a one-night stand and when that person turns up for a meeting with the Hawke’s he realises just how much of a mess his life is now in. Will he reveal the truth to the people he sees as family or will he walk away from the best thing that has ever happened. This story was so good I am sorry to see the series end but can’t wait to see what Gwyn has in store for us in the future.

I loved reading this 6 book set of The Hawke Family.

It includes:
Savage Collision
Tortured Skye
Stone Sober
Building Storm
Tainted Saint
Steele Resolve

I found this collection to contain everything I love in a good romance: Suspense, drama, thrills, steam, mafia and wonderfully written characters that you can feel their emotions and everything they are experiencing. You can feel like you are right their watching yet. Yes, some of the characters can be downright annoying but they redeem themselves. I find that’s what makes them feel human to us as readers. I know plenty of annoying people. The stories were great. I loved how they built on each other. We had different main characters in each story but everyone was still there. The plots flowed fairly smooth. You can stay with the story pretty good. This is worth the investment. It makes an entertaining read. Once you start, you really will not want to put it down. If I had to pick favorites, I’m going for Storm and Landon. I loved their story.

THIEF (POPOV BRATVA BOOK 4) BY LESLIE GEORGESON – REVIEW BY Michaela Massie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dominik Popov is a strong, charismatic, and egotistic man.

Leah Hart is a smart, sassy, strong, and stubborn-as-hell woman who doesn’t know how to back down.

Dominik is an expert car thief and a part of the Popov mafia family. Leah Hart is a musician with a recently besmirched reputation.

Dominik’s next mark just so happens to fit Leah’s car perfectly. Too bad his perfect streak is ruined by a firecracker of a woman who won’t let her car just get stolen from her. Now, Leah has seen his face, and she is a liability, so Dominik takes her as a hostage.

This story is awesome and had me stuck to each and every page without putting this book down. Read the story to find out what happens between Dominik and Leah!

Thief (Popov Bratva Book 4) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Thief (Popov Bratva #4)Thief by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thief is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I wish I had discovered her sooner! I feel the need to read everything she’s written and am sure I’m going to be spending the whole of my Christmas break doing just that! After finishing this book I couldn’t wait and started the next book immediately.
I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope, and this did not disappoint, I was hooked from the beginning! The way the characters met was different to anything else I’ve read, and the pair’s development was never dull. The secrets that they each have drive this and the twists experienced as a result were created very well.
I was a little concerned that I was going to have missed something important starting in the middle of the series, but despite starting at book 4, and previous characters seem to be present, there’s absolutely nothing missing as this can be read as a standalone. This was perfect for me being introduced mid-series.
I enjoyed the fact that both characters appear to be one thing but as you get to know them both, you realise there is more to their stories and I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
If you love steamy romances, mafia elements and great characters, this is definitely the book for you!

Chase and Katarina are interesting characters. After reading the synopsis of the book, and actually reading it, I feel like I’ll need to read the next book in the series to understand them both better. They both have so much backstory that will later be built on, and it leaves an element of mystery for the reader. The characters do an amazing job coping and handling everything thrown at them throughout the story. If you enjoy series that build on the previous books, this is definitely a story that I would recommend. If you don’t, I truly believe you’re missing out.. haha

This is the first in the series; and the first book I have read by this author. It was a little slow to start, but by mid book I was well and truly hooked. I felt that the author was a little uncomfortable writing the sex scenes, especially initially, but it did improve the further I got into the book. I felt that the language used in the sex scenes didn’t match the rest of the book – just my opinion though.

Overall, this was a good book and I will definitely read the next book.

This book is a beautiful book because it tugs at your emotional well-being while taking you on a ride with the characters you feel apart of. You’re torn between fighting how you feel (drawn from the characters and both their sides) or to wish and overcome all of it for a risk at love or more. But it’s not as easy as you’d think. This is only the beginning and I’m down to go down the rabbit hole to see where this leads.

This story had a good plot to it and I was pulled into the story from the start. The author did a good job with moving the book forward and developing the characters a bit. Katarina is on a business trip in Aruba gearing up for a week long meeting about the development of a new medical facility. Chase is a wealthy businessman that had contracted the company Katarina works to oversee said project. As I moved through the first few chapters and saw the interaction between these two it was evident there was a mutual attraction. It was hard to tell whether Chase knew that Katarina was working for him from the beginning or if he found out through the interaction in the emails. She though was surprised to find out whom she had been corresponding with when he showed up to do his part for the meeting. Will she be willing to move forward with their relationship after being lied to? Will there be a happily ever after?

Strangers Kate and Chase meet by chance over saving a life tourist at the hotel. Realizing the chemistry between them, Kate risks putting work aside and having a little fun, little does she know Chase is the man she will be working for. You will enjoy the read of a very shy independent woman falling for a man who is very overprotective and detail oriented. The author does a good job with the love line of the characters and even adds a little mystery and suspense and ends with a HEA.

Degrees of Innocence: Dark Mafia Romance (Cruel Deceptions Book 1) By Via Mari – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, it is unlike a dark mafia romance that I have read in the past. This story is about a woman named Katrina who is in Aruba for a week-long “business meeting” she is running. She is helping a big wig corporation change the face of hospitals. Her story starts when she is physically saving the life of another customer staying in the hotel. A gentleman, Chase, comes to assist her; we later find out this man owns the hotel and is the enterprise in charge of Katrina’s project. These two have instant chemistry, but she is shocked to find out that he is her present boss. Because of past experiences, she is completely against this, but for some reason just cannot do without him. During her stay, she starts to spend a lot of physical time with Chase and the two produce a bond that neither has experienced before. This bond is strengthened when she is attacked, twice. Katrina learns quickly what it is like to be in a relationship with a wealthy, possessive man.
The story itself has many twists and turns. Many times you never see them coming. This is considered a mafia romance, but for much of the book, you would have no idea that that is the genre. The concept of Chase having ties to the underworld of society is not a storyline for much of the book. Do her past history, his secrets and over-possessiveness build a recipe for disaster? Even though there is a lot happening in the book, it was enjoyable. There is much spice, with a side of erotica. The characters are enjoyable to see grow together. Katrina is a woman figuring out what she sexually likes, while Chase is awakening her senses. The two have great flirtatious ways and playful banter. I am interested to find out what will occur in the rest of the series.

Right after saving a life, Kate finds her own life in danger. Luckily, Chase is there to help keep her safe. However, when Monday rolls around, Kate finds out that Chase is her boss. She has definite feelings about dating her boss but he has stronger feelings about letting her go. Between keeping her safe and the job the two are doing, Chase and Kate have more than enough to fight about (and reason to make up.)
Opinion
I’m a big Via Mari fan and jumped at the chance to start reading a new series. While parts of this story seem old and familiar, Mari writes it so well that those parts fade into the background. I loved the instant attraction the two had and Chase’s drive to keep her safe, even with Kate trying to barter down to what she felt was reasonable. This series has promise and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book, especially with the father she never knew.
