Chasing Redemption is the second book in the Quimby Grove series by Shannon Nikole. This second instalment is a wonderful follow up to Finding Starlight, but can be read as a standalone because it focuses on a different couple.
This is an emotional contemporary romance that strummed my heartstrings the whole way through- and I was completely invested int the characters and the outcome of their story. I loved returning to Quimby Cove and am looking forward to Book #3.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Shannon Nikole!

The Hawke Family, Tortured skye by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Paloma Fierro 01/13/2023

Tortured skye

Gabe Anderson is an ex militar with quite a large baggage over his back. Working with his best friend since childhood and therapy has helped a little to ease the burdens of his colorful background. Oh but life cannot be that easy, a little misfortune has his head all over the place and the adventure is just beginning.

Skye Hawke has had her fair share of darkness in life, after a car accident that changed her life forever, her messed up mind leads her to be a very uncomfortable human begin. For her 28 years she does seem like a teenager with anger issues, with no control of her extreme emotions, but her heart will take her to go beyond all her unhealthy mind and to find the answers that will help heal her wounded soul.

This story has action, passion and is full of adrenaline kind of scenes.

Savage Hawke is a business man with a control problem, even when the bars and restaurants do not represent a dent in his morale, the night club with pretty ladies represents the pleasure he wants the high end of males, all above the law with no dirt or whatsoever within it. But all of them run smooth and legal.

Danika Eriksson is a journalist with a unique ethic code for her work, never publishing something without the evidence to support it; and her most hot case involves the New Orleans government with the underworld drug dealer who actually runs the place.

Savage and Danika will meet under ironic circumstances, both pretty attracted to each other since moment one, but with a long and hard work road to develop before they have a shot of happiness together.

Join in for a sexy, mysterious and classic enemies to lovers story.

They instantly fall into being a family, until strange events start happening to put Marley on the radar of the local police department. This is a good book with a few steamy scenes, and plenty of drama and life events that keep you on your toes and keep you guessing until the end.

Max has never forgotten the mystery woman he had one very hot moment in time with, his Princess, so when she suddenly walks back into his life with some very surprising news he knows this is his chance to see if they can have something real! Marley and Max are wonderful characters with loads of heart and love to give if only they can work out who keeps trying to hurt the family they are trying to create.
I loved returning to Quimby Grove and getting to read more about Max. Having read the first book in this fantastic series I knew Max and having liked him a lot in that book I was really looking forward to his story. Don’t get me wrong you can read this wonderful book without having read the first book in the series and still completely enjoy it but honestly do yourself a favour and read the first one as well.

Handle with care, hmmm one of my favorite books by Jodi Picoult. I HAD to read this one to see if the book lived up to its name. My goodness, did this book go about and beyond my expectations. Completely blew them out of the water.
The emotions described in this book, from each main character to each other, to the pain/hurt/anguish towards their patients. I could not get enough. I swear I almost fell off my seat because I kept scooting forward as I was reading.
I cannot wait to read more in this series, and any other books by this author!

I definitely found this book relatable. As a healthcare worker, you can never deal with grief the same as when you work in the field before or after quite the same as before choosing this profession. Also being from New Orleans, I found a personal sense of connection to the book even more so which is why I started reading it in the first place. It makes it that more familiar and more interesting to me to feel a strong connection. But besides the obvious connections, the storyline of these two’s story of departing onto foreign waters test their union in matters of life or death.
Another reason I loved this is because I went through something similar during coronavirus and my love life at the time but it was less theatrical than this book. But this book is a tale you’d never forget. It takes you down a rabbit hole of emotions. I absolutely enjoyed this. Great read!!!!

Chasing Redemption (The Quimby Grove Series Book 2) by Shannon Nikole. I’m loving this series. This is Max’s story and I loved it. Max met a beautiful lady years ago and they had a one night stand and neither one of them have forgotten each other. They don’t know how to locate each other because they didn’t even get each others names! Marley has continued on with life and has been raising her twins. She can’t get Max out of her mind and no one measures up. When Max sees Marley at a wedding he makes a bee line for her and vows never to let her go again. Marley is nervous because she has a secret she has to tell Max. Will he accept this secret and still love Marley or will he walk away again. This is such a great second chance love story.

Handle With Care (Chase Care #1) by R.L. Dunn

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Handle with Care is the first book in the Chase Care Series. I’ve read a couple of the Chase Security books so I know a couple of the characters. This book is an amazing read.

Hunter, a doctor for Chase Security, is losing his mind. His wife is out of town and will be for a while. He feels that she is hiding something from him, but he isn’t sure what it is. When she comes back will he be able to fix what was broken? The quote I chose for Hunter is: “Medical complaints are the most elusive to chase down. I’d rather we overdo than underdo. Keep me posted. Next.”

Selma is running from her past. She doesn’t want to let Hunter know what is going on so she runs. When she gets no response from Hunter she is worried that she broke everything. What will happen when she goes back? The quote I chose for Selma is: “That was when you were created, little one.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love a good collection and this was brilliant.

Book 1 – Savage Collision
This is Savage and Danita’s story. A brilliant start to the series and a great introduction to the Hawke Family.

Book 2 Tortured Skye
This is Skye and Gabe’s story. I totally loved Gabe in book 1 and wasn’t sure about Skye – but by the end of this one she had won my heart.

Book 3 Stone Sober
Up until now Stone had always been in the background in the previous books. Finally he gets his story and we get more of Nora., Danika’s sister. Their story is intense.

Book 4 Building Storm
This is the eldest Hawke daughter, Storm’s story. This cut deep emotionally. We also get to meet Landon and together these two have had their fair share of heartache.

Book 5 Tainted Saint
This is Saint and Caroline’s story. Caroline is Danika’s best friend and Saint is a new bouncer at the club. This is their story.

Book 6 Steele Resolve
This is Byron, the manager of Savage’s club and Luca “Steele’s” story. It’s an enemy to lovers M/M romance. It’s different, in a good way, to the rest of the series.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. It was fantastically written and my interest was peaked in every book. Highly recommend the whole series and best read in order.

Oh my heavens! This is the cutest followup to Finding Starlight. Max and Marley’s story is the sweetest. A one-nighter that brings a surprise four years later. The chemistry is still their and the twins are absolutely adorable. Can’t tell you anymore. You have to read this book. Watching these two work through their relationship is funny and charming and romantic even with parenting issues. The characters, yes, old favorites make appearances, are still as charming and unique, yet just like out of a small town. The storyline feels real and you’ll find yourself relating to. I’ll be adding this to my favorites for 2023. The year is off to a wonderful start!. I can’t wait for the next book.

Saint was at the BDSM club masquerade party the same night that Caroline dragged Storm to go with her. Saint knew Caroline when he saw her even with a mask on. Saint finally gets the nerve to do something about this crush and takes Caroline to a private room in the club. Caroline is carefree and willing to have a great time with the illusion that Saint has no idea who she is and that it will never happen again.

Caroline is bored getting fluff pieces to write about at work and decides she is going to investigate the new crime boss in the city. She wants to ensure the Hawkes’ safety and advance at work.

When Saint finds out, all heck breaks loose. This is a shorter story but will keep your attention from beginning to end.

Handle With Care is the first book in the Chase Care Series by R.L Dunn. It’s a bit of a spin-off from the Chase Security series and is every bit as good as I had hoped it would be. A full-on, action-packed medical/romantic suspense- with danger, mystery, suspense, violence, thrills, agendas, secrets, intrigue, chemistry, sizzle, ….. and soooo much more.
I really enjoyed this book as Ms. Dunn wove a complex plot that had me intrigued from the outset. This is a multi-layered story full of clever interconnected details which gives it an unpredictable quality that kept me guessing the whole way through.
I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Bring on Book #2!

I loved the first book so much and didn’t think the author could top herself but I was so WRONG. I love how the characters continue into this story.

Gabe is Savage’s main man in business and best friend. He has always been loyal and trustworthy and a part of the Hawke family since he was young.

Skye Hawke is twin to Star. With the loss of Star, Skye is fighting a battle to survive without her. She is a woman who is very hard to deal with and she is very abrasive when upset. She is upset most of the time.

At the wedding of Savage and Danika, Skye’s long lasting crush on Gabe gets the best of her and she kisses him. Gabe walks away as he knows she is totally and completely off limits. They are both tormented as they navigate their feelings for eachother. Gabe is struggling with his mental health due to killing again. He is spiralling.
This is a must read as the tangle of his best friend, his sister, and some sinister intentions all mixed around a huge storm heading their way. I could not put this down. On to book 3.

This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I felt like I was getting more than one story in this book. Since I work in a hospital it was fun reading about this couple. These two had a great connection and learning about their pasts helped get to know them better. It was great seeing secondary characters from another series. The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

How have I never read a book by Gwyn McNamee until now? Let me just tell you this author is a master at filling her stories with strong, interesting characters along with tantalizing writing that packs an emotional punch and keeps you drawn into the story until the final page. I’m so excited I found this wonderful compilation of all six stories in the Hawke Family Series. You might think six stories is a long read, but as each one brings something completely different, then the next you will be forever engrossed in the lives of these characters. Though this series can be read as standalone books, I recommend reading them together, as some previous characters will make cameos in other books while other characters will even play major parts in their family and friends’ lives, helping us get backstory and connecting them all together nicely.

This complete collection of all six stories in The Hawke Family series includes:

-Savage Collision (Book #1)
Danika & Savage’s story

-Tortured Skye (Book #2)
Gabe & Skye’s story

-Stone Sober (Book #3)
Stone & Nora’s story

-Building Storm (Book #4)
Storm & Landon’s story

-Tainted Saint (Book #5)
Caroline & Saint’s story

-Steele Resolve (Book #6)
Luca & Byron’s story

The Hawke family have a lot going on in their lives which is to be expected as they hail from the never-sleeping city of New Orleans. These siblings and friends face challenges most wouldn’t dream of, especially having to deal with the mob, club dancers, and their own personal conflicts. I love how they cone together for each other no what they are facing and dealing with in their lives.

While I loved all the stories in this series Savage Collision (Book #1) Danika & Savage’s story was definitely my favorite by far. I love that Dani is a strong / confident woman who isn’t afraid of Savage and his need to control pretty much everything. It was nice to see Savage’s vulnerability with his heartbreaking story and how he developed from it.
I would love to go into detail about each of these amazing books, but we would definitely be here all day, and I know I would give away too many spoilers. So I’ll just say pick up this series and watch these characters grow and face challenges as they experience passion, love, and hard choices in their lives. Before you start reading, though you want to find a comfy chair, because if your like me you won’t come up for air until several hours later, these stories are just that good and addictive.

Where do I even start? This ebook contains the entire series of the Hawke family escapades: Savage Collision, Tortured Skye, Stone Sober, Building Storm, Tainted Saint, and Steele Resolve. Definitely a series you will want to take your time savoring!

The family is based out of New Orleans. So as you can imagine there is a ton going on for them. Between the entire family, Gwyn really develops each character line in such a splendid way you will not want to miss out (or close your book.) Their adventures include the family business, storms, interfamilial troubles, and of course plenty of dancing. But don’t take my word for it. Pick up either the entire collection, or one of the stories and sink your teeth in. You won’t be able to let it go!

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All I have to say to this series is OMG! I absolutely loved it! McNamee has a way of captivating her readers from the beginning to the very end. Each of the 6 book series involve themes of steamy romance, family relationships and connections, the Italian Mob, suspense and much more. In the past, I’ve shied away from books dealing with mob or mafia but after reading this book and enjoying McNamee’s stories has really changed my perspective. For those readers intrigued or curious about this series, there are some great revelations throughout that keep the readers glued to the book till the end.

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Hawke Family complete collection by Gwyn McNamee is a six book series all wrapped into one. I was really excited to read this series as I had heard such good things and it did not disappoint. Overall, I am completely blown away at how great these books are. There are so many surprises and so much action and the perfect amount of spicy moments. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
Savage Collision – Being book one in this series was truly an awesome book. The story follows Savage and Danika and their crazy whirlwind romance. The pair do not get off on the right foot but neither can deny the underlying attraction between them. Savage Hawke is the owner of several bars, restaurants and also, a gentleman’s club. Danika finds out her baby sister is now working there and comes to give him you know what for employing her sweet little sis. Each of them have their own secrets and it’s possible the will wreck what they’ve both come to work for. I really liked Savage, Dani made me angry a few times but overall this was a solid start to the series!
Tortured Skye – Book two follows Skye and Gabe. I have to admit, I was so extremely happy to see Gabe and get the know the hardened man. The bonus member of the Hawke family thanks to his best friend, Savage, Gabe has been crushing on Skye for quite some time. But because of her being his best friends sister, he has stayed away from her. He’s not trying to risk the only family that’s ever cared for him. Throughout the years, Gabe has been someone Skye can lean on. Someone who’s given her advice and understood her. But after sharing a steamy moment, she cannot get him out of her head. Each of them have been through more pain and suffering than one should have to go through and have been handling it in their own way. Will they be the thing that the other needs most?
Stone Sober – Book three in this series follows Stone and Nora. We first meet Nora in book one as she is Danika’s sister. Which means she works for Stones brother as a dancer in the club. Nora is just trying to figure out what she truly wants in life. After leaving medical school, she found a job at the club and though she is a spicy dancer, she is one of the most innocent people ever. Stone on the other hand is pretty much the bad boy that you’ve been warned about. Though incredibly handsome, this lawyer is mixed up in some stuff. Phew the amount of action and suspense in this book was crazy. It was so steamy that I was reading it so fast. This book was definitely one that caught me off guard with the emotions I felt.
Building Storm – Book four follows the relationship between Storm and Landon. Storm is broken, she has lost everything and has to navigate her life with her daughter. If it weren’t for her family she would have nothing. Landon has dealt with his own troubles. He isn’t quite sure what healing he needs to do but with Storm, it just happens. This book is full of so much pain and so many tears, it just breaks your heart. But it’s also full of so much strength, love and growth. It is incredibly how two people can heal one another and find the inner peace that they each need.
Tainted Saint – Saint and Caroline are coming in to play in book five. This is a fast read but still a great read. As the bouncer for the Hawkeye club, Saint comes off as one scary dude. He just wants to protect Caroline when she starts some sort of dangerous investigation. This novella was a great addition to the Hawke family. The pair were incredibly hot together. They had some amazing spicy moments. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer.
Steele Resolve – Byron and Luca’s story brings the Hawke family series to an end. Another novella in the series, it brings so many of the other stories together. The passion between the two of them was so beautiful. The only problem is that they are supposed to be enemies. Luca’s family has tried to destroy the Hawkes but the two of them cannot stay apart. What a great wrap to the series.
