This quick read is the 5th book in the Hawke series. It was easily read in one sitting and I was excited to read more about the big guy. Saint and Caroline make a good couple and I enjoyed them.
As with all shorter books it’s kind of hard to get to know the characters in depth. For me what was missing was there was hardly any background information about Saint or Caroline and so it felt like it was missing something. I’m used to getting a lot of background information in this series which helps me connect to the characters even more.
The authors writing style is still just as good as it always is and I enjoyed the part about Caroline and her assignment as well as the new avenue that Saint is going into. I enjoyed that it helps us delve a little further into the Luca situation which I assume is going to be wrapped up in the last book. While I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the previous books I still found it very enjoyable and can’t wait to finish out the series.

This is a first read for me by R. L. Dunn and I was not disappointed! In this first book in the Blood Obsession series, the author creates totally different, but coexisting worlds. I was drawn in from the very first chapter and couldn’t put this book down. Ritual Obsession is filled with twists and turns, suspense, romance, drama, and everything in between. The connection between the characters is so realistic and each character is so unique that I couldn’t help but want to be friends with some of them! Dunn creates not only one but two strong, female characters that know how to hold their own in the male dominated world of the NYPD. With strong character development, great world building, and action, romance, and suspense in abundance, Ritual Obsession is not a book to miss.

Building Storm is so much about rising from the ashes. It’s about losing everything, being broken, and finding out that when you think you can’t go on there’s a rainbow behind the clouds.
The story brings together two people who are both broken and similar but different in ways. Two people who for all intents and purposes should be running away from feelings. What starts out as just some good old-fashioned banging quickly turns into two people you are rooting for.
What Storm has already had to endure coupled with what else she ends up enduring throughout the story will break your heart, but also let you in to see just how much inner strength this woman has no matter what storms are engulfing her life.
Landon is a man clearly dealing with his own troubled past and storms. He somehow is able to use that to help Storm in ways she doesn’t realize. In the process I think he finds some of his own healing that maybe he didn’t realize he needed and deserved.
As with any good romantic suspense story, the secrets are bound to come out and you better hold on to your seat for the crying, the shock, and the pure holy heck moments,
Bringing other characters to the forefront like Saint and Byron make the story even more enticing. As always I love that this author brings all of the Hawke family in. While reading this series the only thing I would love to maybe see is a prequel that gives us much more background to Antonia and the origins of the Hawke family. Just as in book 3 this story has so much more storytelling than books one and two it’s exciting to see the incredible growth of this author from book one to this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the most fulfillment out of your reading pleasure.
Ritual Obsession by RL Dunn is the first book in the Blood Obsession series and what a way to start a series. This book was hard to put down and I actually got annoyed I finished it too quickly. The story follows Bobbi, a detective in the NYPD. Bobbi is not your typical police officer as she comes from a wealthy background and was a debutante. When she is sent to a new precinct it is not easy to fit in however she proves her worth to her tough partner Rose. I don’t want to spoil the story, but this book has you feeling all sorts of things! There are some trigger warnings as it does touch on some very sensitive subjects but if you want a thrilling, gritty crime novel with a hint of romance. I have read a few books by this author and loved them, this book did not disappoint.

I am on the edge of my seat, I need the next book ASAP! I loved it! This book was such a page-turner that makes you need to know more! Very well written and relatable characters ( I love Bobbi) and scenes packed with so much suspense and thrills! I really enjoyed the fact that R.L. Dunn created a crime thriller that had two female partners of the NYPD. It was a refreshing take that you don’t see very often. Her use of language and detail really makes this story so immersive and her clues and twists were woven in so perfectly! Such a great read! Highly recommend it!

This is a fantastic mafia romance. It is filled with action, danger, lies, deception and of course passion. This book was so interesting that I wish I had read the rest of the series. Mia is stuck in a dangerous situation, stuck between her father and her step brother. As the daughter of a mafia boss, she has been abused and used as a pawn her whole life. Deciding to take her future by the reins, Mia makes plans to escape. Imagine Nico’s surprise to find Mia, the daughter of his enemy, in his secret hideaway. The secrets that she reveals are intriguing but can he trust her?
The chemistry sizzles between them. An enemies to lovers romance, this is an amazing book. The plot will keep you riveted from beginning to end. The characters will have you cheering for them. It’s when his m.o. starts changing that things really start to heat up for the detectives on the case. How many more women have to die before they can catch this creep?
This is my first R.L. Dunn book but will not be my last!! From the get go, this one had my attention. Just when I thought I had it figured out, things would change and I’d change my mind. I’m still trying to untangle all the clues and details!! This is gripping, chilling, and will stick with you for awhile. I’m glad the next book in this series is released in a couple of weeks. I’ll have to reserve some time for it because it’s that good of a series so far!

Another fantastic 5 star read from this author! This might be the seventh book in the series but it can be read a standalone however I would highly recommend reading the books in order. This was Mia and Nico’s story and what a story it was! The chemistry was there between these two characters almost instantly but as with all mafia romances things aren’t as simple and clear cut as they are meant to be! I loved that Mia wasn’t your usual naive heroine – she was feisty and happy to stand up for herself! This was a riveting read and one that had me hooked from beginning to end. It was an amazing addition to this already amazing series and I wholeheartedly recommend it to other readers!

Its the story of Roberta “Bobbie” Wallace who has just become a detective with the NYPD all based on a dare. Her new partner Max Buckley has been with the NYPD for years and has seen a lot. When he first sees Bobbie he’s smitten but knows he has to keep it all business even though he flirts with her. New York is also now under attack from a serial killer that likes dark haired ladies which Bobbie is. Bobbie and Max are both put on a task force to stop this killer before it gets worse. Fighting together to stop this serial killer and fighting the attraction to one another things are getting dangerous. Will they be able to stop the killer before more murders are committed? New York City is under siege, by a diabolical serial killer designated as The Bathtub Murderer, which I thought was unique. This mystery-romantic suspense gives the reader plenty of action, romance, voodoo rituals, graphic depictions of both consensual and nonconsensual sex, and murder.
This story has excellent strong female lead characters. You empathize for them when they go through heartbreak and traumatizing experiences. The storyline is sometimes emotionally intense, as it touches on the subject of murder, sexual assault and the aftermath of surviving sexual assault. Please be advised that many readers may find the story disturbing and/or triggering. The author does include a trigger warning at the beginning of the book, which is appreciated.

This was a really good read! Not only was it romantic, but it was thrilling and action packed as well! This was a very fast paced read, and a shorter read so I was able to finish it fairly quickly. While I liked this book, I’m not sure how I feel on the whole about it being the finale in the Mafia Elite series. I know she says at the end that there will be spin-off series from these books that feature these characters but I just really feel like she left this series a little open ended. And maybe that’s just me not wanting them to end! Either way this was a great book! It is a standalone, you DON’T have to read the previous books but it makes more sense if you do.
Stone Sober by Gwyn McNamee is the third book in the Hawke series and by far my favorite. The story has so much suspense, action, and storyline that brings all of the previous books together. There is romance, steamy sex scenes, and tearjerker moments.
This book feels like it has more storytelling than any of the previous books and it makes it highly incredible. I could not put this book down from start to finish and had to read it in one sitting because it was that amazing. You will fall in love with both Stone and Nora as individuals but also will grasp what makes them them. They both have been running from big secrets for a long time and those come to a head but nothing will prepare you for the biggest secret of all. I highly recommend that you read the entire series starting with book one to enhance your reading pleasure.

I am in love with this book, and this whole series. Every book in the series just gets better than the last, it’s like a fine wine. Amy McKinley has become one of my favorite authors in just a short time, all because of this series. But I do believe this book is now my new favorite read. You must give it a try.
I cannot stress enough about how much I love this series and I love this author. Amy Mckinley is the best at these mafia romances with a hard edge. Each book is packed with action from the very first page to the very last page.
In the mafia, females only have one purpose: to bring more power to the mails through alliances between families. Mia has discovered that she is just some pawn in a game that she has no decision in, at least until she decides she wants to play on her own terms. Mia seeks out the one person, often underestimated, that can protect her from her father and that is Nico. First she has to make him an offer he can’t refuse and secondly she has to put her trust in someone she only knows on paper. Can Nico learn to trust Mia or is it all too sweet of a tale to believe? As the threads unravel the truth is slowly revealed along with a little help from a ghost from her past.
This is one romance series I am sorry to see end. I have read every single book in this series and I cannot get enough of these hunky mafia men and the ladies that bring them to their knees. I laughed, I cried, and I even yelled at one point when someone was being dumb in the book. I cannot wait to read what Ms. McKinley has next on her agenda as I am sure it will be as fabulous as this series has been. Definitely take these books for a spin regardless of whether it is outside your typical genre. These books do not disappoint and each one is more thrilling than the next!
I don’t understand how these books keep getting better & better. Everything single time a new one comes out, sign me up! While there are slight similarities between the books for obvious reasons, each and every book is different. Different situations and life stories. I don’t know how she does it. Literally 🤯 = me. All I truly know is that in previous books we have seen glimpses of Nico & Mia, and we don’t really know who either of them are. Nico we’ve seen a bit more, but I like that they both flourish and develop naturally in this book. I truly hope this isn’t the end of the road! Maybe some sequels or spin offs of the current Chicago families would be nice. However honestly anything Amy McKinley writes will be amazing!

Rivals is the latest book in the Mafia Elite series, and it was ah-mazing, just like all the others. This is one of my favorite series and am sad that it is likely coming to an end. Mia is a character I kind of forgot about, as she is part of the New York mafia families. Most of the series focuses on the Chicago Five Families, and Nico is part of that group. Their story is slightly different from the others, in that the main characters didn’t know each other growing up. They meet for the first time when Mia pulls a gun or Nico and soon after, negotiates their marriage. The build of their relationship is a good story, and has a couple twists and turns along the way. I love the bomb dropped toward the end, changing the course of action. There is justice served and everyone gets what they deserve. Highly recommend this book and hope there is more to come.

This is the 4th book in the Popov Bratva series. These books can be read as a standalone however since I’ve read this one I definately want to go back and read the rest of the books in this series. This story is a perfect mix of danger and Suspense teamed up with characters who have a love/hate relationship but the chemistry between them is so hot you just know one or both of them are going to get burnt.
This story is about Dom and Leah. Dom is a Mafia Prince who’s job is acquiring things for people. These things are something not obtained in a legal way but he’s never not completed the job. The is until he meets Leah. When he tried to steal her car, Leah’s fiesty attitudes makes her fight to stop him from stealing her car. Not wanting to get caught Dom does the only thing he can think of. Kidnap Leah and steal the car. But Dom didn’t really think it all the way through and when it turns out Leah is a famous singer, the simple kidnapping becomes a whole lot more trickier. Add to this the secrets that Leah’s past holds and the unmistakable attraction between Dom and Leah and this is one story that will keep you hooked.
How can a singer destroy the career of this Mafia prince? Would she turn him in if he let’s her go? Would it be so bad to keep her beside him forever? And is he wanting to keep her so she doesn’t go to the police or is there something more between them that makes their connection hard to ignore.
This book has so many twists and turns that you never know what to expect you just have to hang on for the ride.
Enemies to lovers are some of my favourite books and this one is right up there with the best of them! I thought the characters were a perfect match for each other and the attraction between was real and believable. The connection they had was not only strong but I thought, at times, highly entertaining. They pushed each other really made me buy into them. I loved the pace of the book. I thought it was so easy to get into and it kept my interest from start to finish. The author has created a strong series that, right now, I can’t get enough of. This is an amazing book and I can’t wait to finish the others.
This was a great 5 star read. I am really loving this series. I really liked Mia and Nico’s story. Mia was a very strong character and when she needed help she went to Nico. Nico is smart and a very dangerous man, he is intrigued by Mia and agrees to help her.
What will happen when her father finds out what she has done? Will Nico be able to protect her?
Overall this was a thrilling edge of your seat read. It felt like there were several stories in one. Several twists and turns and a great cast of secondary characters. The connection between these two grew even hotter as the story went forward. There is so much going on your head will be spinning. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. Rivals is the seventh book in the Mafia Elite series, which tells the story of the five mafia families based in Chicago. It’s an addictive series, full of romance and action but also family, friendship and warmth.
Rivals focuses on Nico, who New York mafia princess Mia identifies as her best hope at escaping from the plans her father and step brother have for her. Mia gets Nico’s protection, and that of his family, while Nico gets information that could enable him to bring down her family’s human trafficking operation.
There are plenty of secrets and twists and turns along the way, some quite unexpected! Mia has much to learn about her past and family, whilst also being used to the very different dynamic of her new family.
I’d recommend reading the books in order – each focuses on a different couple but the stories lead into one another and characters develop as you go along. And where some of the books bring in a character who is new to the mafia so you can learn some of the background from their perspective, Mia already knows or at least knows of most of the main characters and their stories.
This is a five star read for me! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Applause for Ms.Leslie. She definitely has a way with words. The way she is so descriptive makes me feel like I can smell the flower. When the book opens you can immediately feel the dominant temperament of Dominik. The way he takes control but then melts is amazing. Leah. Wow. Just wow. I have no words!

Book 2 in the Hawke family series picks up where book one left off. I originally read Savage Collision in 2017 and then never found the time to read past that book. I just reread book one and immediately had to go onto book 2.
How can you ever think it is a good idea to get involved with your brothers best friend? But that is exactly what Skye does. Feeling a pull towards Gabe Anderson should never of been part of her life. However you immediately feel the connection these two have and what they have been fighting off for years. One simple kiss and it throws their entire lives into complete chaos.
Enduring what Skye has can simply not be easy. I can only imagine what a sudden loss like she has experienced feels like especially given who the loss was. In Gabe‘s case he too has suffered incredible loss but in a different way. We find these two pulling towards each other and I think that the type of losses they both have experienced is what makes them magnetic to each other. I felt like they had a kindred spirit because what each of them have endured, the pain, the loss, hurt, the struggle and most of all I think they both encounter a sense of not feeling like they belong because of missing people or emotions.
Throw into the mix an over protective, control freak older brother who is also the best friend of the man you’re falling for and your emotions will be all over the place. There is some suspense in this book just as there is in book one which I enjoyed. This author does a great job of being very detail oriented, very specific, and setting up the foundation/background of each character so that you know where they’re coming from and why they are the way they are. She also did a good job of bringing in characters from book one and so you kind of get to see a little bit of a continuation of those characters that you first fell in love with.
If you enjoy a story with well developed characters, hot sex scenes, a little suspense, and an intense romance than this is the book for you. I highly recommend reading the series in order though to gain the most out of the storytelling.

I absolutely love this series! The characters are true to form from the other books… the writing is engaging… and most of all, you can’t wait to see what happens next in this mafia family world!! Each book brings different stories and twists from the last, but they blend seamlessly together. This is a thrilling, sweet, steamy foray into a family that lives fast and bonds faster.
When Mia put herself in danger to warn the family previously, I was eager to learn more about her. Her relationship with Nico is unique and fits so well with his personality type. I love the dialogue between all the women in the family and that they look out for one another.
Following the alliance in this book that brings the Chicago and New York families together, I cannot wait to read about the Veretti boys. I would love for this world to continue building so we can learn how everyone moves into their new roles and what happens next!
Another hit by one of my favorite authors! As have been the case with other books in this series, this was an easy and entertaining read for me. The focus on one of the underboss’ this time around was especially intriguing. I hope that future stories also focus on the lives of the ‘less elite’ involved in the mafia. I enjoyed the dynamic between the couple, but I wish there had been more spiciness and alone time between the two of them as there have been in past books. I was hooked on Mia the moment I met her, hoping that the arrangement she seeks with Nico would end well for her in the midst of her trouble with her family.
Rivals (Mafia Elite Book 7) by Amy McKinley. I love this author so the fact I loved this book is no surprise! Its another great Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance and in this one we find out about Nico & Mia. Mia is from a rival Mob family and she is tired of dealing with all he abuse from her dad and step brother. She figures the best way to get back at them is to marry a rival mafia boss. Nico is not in the market for marriage but when he meets Mia and she asks him to marry her for protection all bets are off. He realizes she will probably be his undoing. When he takes Mia to a secret hidden place his family has had for years he figures Mia will be safe there but of course that is not the case. Will Nico be able to keep Mia safe and will he lose his heart to her? Read this amazing Mafia Romance to find out!
Another wonderful series comes to an end. I have to tell you, I have been so in love with the Five Families throughout these novels, and how close they all are, or how close they have all become to one another. Promising protection, love, and acceptance no matter the consequences. It also opens ones eyes to the differences of folks, regardless of the fact they were all part of the same organization (so to speak.) I have been waiting with baited breath for Nico’s story, and I’m so very glad that it was the finale of the series, as it was one of the best. This author truly knows her way around a pen and a piece of paper.
Mia is in need of someone loyal, encouraging, and who offers protection when others have never done so for her in her life, at least since her Mother passed, and she feels comfortable with Nico long before even meeting him. The want to protect women from an awful end, and getting the help needed from those that we’ve grown to love and for me, obsessed with, is endearing and I’m so glad that this series ended on the page it did. I very much look forward to any and all spin off series, and anything else released by this author. Amazing, a must read novel and series for sure!

Mia needs to escape before its too late, but the only problem is she needs protection, the only solution is one of the Five families and him. Nico is the only one who can help but how can she get him to agree to the scheme she has going on or will she be left to the wolves and disappear.
Nico is the quiet, dark and dangerous brother within the Five Families not looking to find a wife but when Mia crashes into his world everything changes, can he close his heart and believe its just business or will he fight to the death for her.
I have to say I have been waiting for this story to come along since the first couple of books I read in this series. Nico has always been the enigma in the background showing pockets of his life and history only wetting the appetite until now and oh my what a story.
This could be read as a stand alone but there are sections which and overall knowledge of the series would be helpful to link various characters and history but it is not essential but really this series is amazing so I would recommend all of the books to read. The character of Mia is brilliant, strong and resilient to be thrust into the world of the Five Families, with the first interaction of the two characters just as stormy as the skies around them just was a brilliant start to the book.
Getting to know Nico abit more was the guiding light for me as he is my favourite character in this series with his mystery and pure sex appeal, oh my!!! I loved although Mia is younger in age she is just as strong and spunky to match the ferrous character of Nico and does not take any crap from him at all, they are great together.
Although there are twists and turns and revelations within this story that are great, I can wait to read more from Amy in the future.

This author has never failed, and the books in series never disappoint. Book 7 is just as raw, suspenseful, spicy, and dramatic as all the other jaw-dropping books.
As we meet Mia she’s in need of dire help. The only person she feels that she can trust for help is considered the enemy…. Nico.
Together they tread dark and chaotic territory when the offer of help comes in the form of marriage. Trust is what Nico won’t do but lust he understands. The chemistry with these two is fire and everything that comes with it is just as good.
