This is the first book in the series and it was an enjoyable read. The author does a great job with the world building and characters. I loved how the story contains elements of sci-fi such as worm holes and bugs that we could never imagine but there is also a seriousness to the story as Nialla and Bishr are fighting to do what they want when they want to do it without people trying to stop them. Its about fighting for what you want in life and not giving up.
This Sci-fi story was entertaining and engaging and I felt like I was actually there experiencing everything that they do. The author creativity and imagination really brings this story to life. I can’t wait to see what other adventures Bishr and Nialla take us on

I am quite familiar with book written by this author so I had a good feeling that I would enjoy this one too. And that was correct. While a little different from some of her previous stories, I loved the idea of time traveling and was immediately enthralled by this book. This author certainly knows how to tell a story set in a different time and era. Her attention to the details is phenomenal and leaves me wanting to step foot into the story. The characters in this story are probably one of my favorite casts because they were so relatable to me. This story really made me question what I would do and where would I go if given the opportunity to travel through time. I loved this book from the beginning, and I highly recommend it.

This is book one in a series and was definitely not what I was expecting. I don’t think I have ever read a sci-fi book with a military theme. It doesn’t take place on Earth. The main character is Rande “Vandal” VanDelle, and he is from a planet called Teutonia. As a contractor working on the tanks, Vandal never intends to see any real action. However, that all changes when he takes a tank out and comes under military fire and has to make life or death decisions. It was a fun book, and even if this isn’t a normal book for you, it might just surprise you.

This is a fascinating sci-fi story that really makes you think about what is going on. The book has a strong focus on the characters and so much seems to happen. I liked the fact that this book had an overall slower pace than most I have read recently. It was a nice change of pace and I think made me become invested in the story in a way I didn’t expect.
This is a new author to me and I think this book was a great way to get to learn their style and way of going about things. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will certainly be reading more by this author in the future.

Throughout scientific studies throughout the ages, the idea of time travel has always inspired conversation, theoretical analysis and discussions around the how, why and who, how would it work, why would you want to move through time and who would be the first to make theory into reality.

Up until now, all these conversations have been theoretical in nature, that is until two scientists stumble upon the answers to the how, between the two minds, they manage to convert an old movie prop from “The Time Machine”, a film made in 1960, which inspired them and create something new.

So now they have the who and how, they just need a why, where and when, but what will happen once they have it all figured out, will it all end in disaster, or is this the future in the making? This is a fantasy novel where science fiction becomes science fact and the adventures which go along with it, as you are sucked into an adventure which nothing could prepare you for.

4 Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was a nice, pleasant surprise and out of my normal comfort zone in my reading, but I was totally intrigued by the cover so I decided to dive right in.

This military sci-fi we get to know Rande “Vandal” VanDelle and he is part of the Chevaliers and works on the MBUs or large tanks. When Vandal decides to take an MBU out and about on patrol….he comes under attack. Battling back and trying to stay alive Vandal has choices to be made…….will Vandal join the continuing fight?

Choices, action, danger and intrigue all wrapped up in this really good story!

Can I add I love the fact the author added a glossary of terms that helped me as well with some of the terminology and that is a plus for me.

This was a really interesting book to read, it’s so out of my comfort zone but I was looking for something a little different to read and the synopsis grabbed my attention so I thought I would give it a go. I think the first thing I have to say how well the book was written, the author had great attention to detail and I actually imagined what I was reading more than I thought I would – this was a pleasant surprise. I’ve read very few science fiction books so I read this a little slower than my usual books and I was very grateful for the glossary with some of the different terms used in the story – that was really helpful for me as a reader and definitely aided my enjoyment a little more.
I think this book would be a huge hit with sci-fi readers – I would definitely recommend it.

Shadow Patterns of Melt is the first book in this original sci fi action adventure series. It is a story about being determined about what you want. About wanting to live your life your way and be free to do so with the one you love, about being independent. It is an unusual story with action, time travel, wormholes, interstellar travel, and opera.

The characters are well written, strong, passionate, and likable and them along with the world that JRP has created is easily imagined.

This story is vastly different to another book Soliloquy I just finished reading by this author which shows the diversity of her writing abilities and creative mind.

I wonder where she will take us next.

I selected this book because of the cover, which is probably one of the most amazing covers I’ve seen. I was also intrigued because it takes place near my home town, so several of the places mentioned were familiar to me, which was exciting as a reader. I found the science behind the attempts to travel through time interesting – more realistic than other instances of it in old movies, etc., though I will not pretend to understand it all! The threat of changing history and ruining the future is always a concern, but realizing it would change in a different path (kind of like a parallel universe, I guess you could say) seems to make it easier to live with oneself knowing you are making drastic changes to the future. Sam’s intent to change history to save his heritage is easy to understand. How amazing it would be to live a life as if you had made a different decision, without actually changing your existing life. Or does it?

Advanced physics professor, Andy Case fell in love with a married woman, who also fell in love with him. Andy drew further and further away from his wife to become closer to Francie, eventually divorcing his wife. Not only does he leave his wife, but he also loses Francie, who decides to reconcile with her husband because of their daughter. This leaves Case in a turmoil until he befriends one of his advanced physics students, Samoset Brown. Case and Brown work together to turn Case’s grandfather’s time machine movie prop into a working time machine, with the help of a power source that fell out of the sky. They each have their own goals if they were to succeed with the time machine. Samoset wanted to change history while Andy wanted to change his love life. However, neither go as planned. What went wrong? Where do Samoset and Andy end up? Find out in Borrowed Time.
I thoroughly enjoyed Borrowed Time. All the characters were relatable as well as their feelings. Some parts left me questioning and none were really answered, while other parts I felt were somewhat unnecessary, but I still rate it as a 5 star. I could not put it down. With the questions I still have and the cliff hanger ending, I hope there is a sequel coming. Overall, if you love time travel, science fiction, and romance, do not hesitate to pick up Borrowed Time.

This is a genre that I typically do not read but was captivated by the synopsis and cover art. I am so glad that I read this book as I learned many things that I would not have otherwise known had I not read this book. The way that Scott Warren wrote this book had me captivated from the first couple of chapters. I have not read any books by this author and cannot wait to read more of the books in this series. I will now take more chances on books that are outside of my typical go to reads and this one was wonderful and had I decided to not read it, I would have missed out on a terrific read!

Shadow Patterns of Melt: Book One by J.R.P. Fogg is a science fiction adventure story full of action, dramatic developments, interesting characters, agendas, politics, intriguing lifeforms, and skillful world-building. It is a very original story that was originally published in Kindle Vella in episode form.
The story is packed full of thought-provoking elements that incorporates complex ideas, physics, interstellar travel, wormhole theory, time travel, and shadow pattern theory- as well as loads of action- which made this quite an interesting read.
There were moments where the story felt a little ‘heavy’ that caused the flow to slow somewhat- but the pace would pick back up again, so it was not enough to put me off reading further.
Nialla and Bishr were really well-developed characters who were cleverly crafted into interesting and fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I enjoyed following them on their adventure and will pick up Volume Two when it releases, to continue the adventures.

Chevalier (War Horses Book 1) by Scott Warren

Chevalier is the first book in the War Horses Series and is a action packed Sci-Fi Adventure that I truly enjoyed reading. This is my first book I’ve read by this author and I’m fairly new to Mecha genre. The title and the cover totally fascinated me so I had to see what this was all about and Wow not what I expecting but better than I ever imagined. Get ready to be pulled into one fascinating story that will keep you turning the pages till the end. This is a Military Sci-Fi with Mecha soldiers that is packed with action, adventure, drama and so much more. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Its definitely one of the most entertaining I’ve read in a while. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

A fascinating science fiction read. Bashr and Nialla are traveling through space. They are on adventures to places that I can’t even spell. The travels are full of drama, odd bugs and other items, annoying family and government that want your plans and other items. They don’t let any of this get to them. They won’t give up their freedom. They are kind of a perfect pair. I like how they work together as a team. It’s an odd book but a really good read. It isn’t my usual book genre but I’m glad I read it. Written well with fun characters that are strong, independent and determined. They are doing things that I’m not sure I could so I’ll enjoy it vicariously through them. J. R. P. (Janet) Fogg’s focus on writing began while CFO for OZ Architecture, the coolest architectural firm in Colorado. Everything from gunslinging in the old west to the feeling of hopeful longing to fit in, this book intertwines many, many themes into its winding pages. Containing everything from historical touches to sci-fi approaches, all while keeping intricate detail within, this book is a melting pot of genres and style.

It was a quick read even with its volume, and the characters were easy to love. Always get the reader thinking on what going back themselves would be like! It was an adventure for sure.

Imagine if you will, a chance to use a time machine to go backward or forward in time. Where would you go and what would you like to see? Is there a monumental event in history that you want to witness or a great injustice that you would change? Would you visit the dinosaurs or check on your kids and grandkids in the future? Would you try to meet your current spouse at an earlier time in life or fast forward to live in the space age? The options are unlimited!
All these questions come into play when an advanced physics professor teams up with his brightest student to create a time machine. Using a power source found by the student Samoset, they attached it to the original movie prop from The Time Machine and away they go on with their adventures, however misguided they may be. Samoset wants to use the machine to correct an injustice to the Native Americans and the Professor wants to go back in time to fix his relationships. Truly, two very different ideas on how to use the time machine. Does it work? Did they make a difference in the past? Was the professor able to fix his relationship and broken heart? How many time streams will they open and become a part of? Will living in the past in a western town be the real answer to finding peace in life or shall they need to be off again on a different path?
My favorite part of the book is all the options that the pair face together and how they work as a team with the dog Uncle Leo to find a suitable place to land and remain for the rest of their lives. I just love the western town that they decided to reside in for a bit. The description of the town and its people is so easy to imagine and picture that it jumps right off the page. Very strong character development makes for a great read and exciting storyline. The saying really is true: You can never go home!

This book was quite a bit different from the first book I ever read by this author. Even though they could be classified in the same category they were both pleasantly different. In this story Elinor Chalamet is what you could consider a psychic of sorts. She is using her abilities to find her father killer, however she is pulled into a side investigation by the police when a body turns up in the local canal. She may not have taken up the case but when she heard that the Duke de Archambeau was interested in the case she took it. It seems the Duke is more of a hindrance than a help though on this case. Will she be able to solve it?

I have always enjoyed the concept of the butterfly effect which I feel really is tied in with most time travel thoughts and ideas and it just overall really peaks my interest. This author does a bang up job of hooking the reader from the very start with the descriptive ways of his writing style, and then loops them into the thoughts, concerns and emotions of those of whom he is writing about. It was definitely a more involved read than a lot of the novels I’ve been picking up lately, and it made me realize how much I enjoy having to visualize and conceptualize as well as enjoy the entertainment authors bring forward in their written works of art.

What would you do if you could change a decision you made? Would you do it all over again, or would you see where fate takes you with some intervention? Get ready to buckle your seat belt because this was an addictive ride. Looking forward to seeing what he brings forward next. Highly recommend!

I would love to see a sequel happen with this one! The fact that the author used real details from the past and even with the Time Machine shows great dedication.

Have you ever wanted to time travel?? This book showed how a professor, Andy, and one of his students, Samoset, successfully travel back in time to change some of our history. What started out as them wanting to change the outcome of Columbus discovering San Salvador became a personal journey for Andy in re-connecting with his love.

It was full of excitement, especially if you like the westerns from the 1800s and full of heartbreak and love. Though I will say I was starting to really dislike Andy at one point, and that turned when he reached out to Pamela and asked her to join him. Crazy enough she actually believed him and did it!

The question Samoset asked Andy about what other event he would change, haven’t we all thought about that and what event we would change? Would it be the same as it was for Samoset and Andy?

This is the first book I have read by Lane Cohen, and I have to say that I loved every minute of it! I thoroughly enjoy discovering a new author that can make you forget about the real world and take you on a wonderful journey.

Borrowed Time takes you on an adventure through time and has a sci-fi feel as it is related to the 1960’s The Time Machine. It is an interesting and relating read because I think everyone wonders what it would be like to time travel. The places you could see, the people you could meet, and the endless possibilities for changing your actions and your life! Will our characters’ dreams come true, or will they alter history forever?

I surely hope this is the start of a series, but even if it isn’t, I’ll be picking up more from this author. You’ll love to be swept away into this lovely time-traveling story.

This book was definitely one of the more interesting ones that I have read this year. Having read the first book, I was pretty excited for the second book and devoured it as soon as it hit my kindle. The characters were as brilliant as before, a brilliant and surreal word, an interesting plot, and so much more that I just simply couldn’t put it down. Our author did an amazing job of picking up where the previous story ended and there is definitely a third book coming. I for one can’t wait to see how this trilogy ends.

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? If so, what would you want to see or do? I’d love to go back to the Bible times and see Jesus and his disciples. I would also love to go back to the time of Abraham Lincoln and meet his former love, Anne Rutledge (who is a family member!).

Andy Case is a physics professor and well, physics can be a bit boring at times. I personally enjoyed my physics classes and loved seeing this topic featured in this book. His students are losing interest but come up with an idea to create a time machine. Andy isn’t quite sure about this idea but, why not give it a try?

There are many accurately described historical events which makes this book intriguing and fun! I was a little surprised about some of the events that were not changed by the group, but then again, maybe they didn’t need to be. Changing on small little feature of an event can change an entire course of history!!

Finally, this book cover is beautiful! It’s very attractive to the eye and is one of the things that attracted me to this book.

A unique time traveling story. A very unique story that draws you in immediately, with relatable characters. Cohen builds great character development, making the characters all that more relatable. I love that it shows the different desires for the time machine, for one’s own personal past relationship and then other to rewrite history. I loved all the historical details and references. The two perspectives are fantastic!
This didn’t end on a cliffhanger, but did end in a way there could be a sequel, which I would most definitely read.

I enjoyed reading this book. This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first. This is a well written story where Thomas and April set out together as another adventure. I enjoyed how the author used details to bring life to the story. It made the story realistic. The characters are connectable and made the story for me. This is an adventure that they soon won’t forget and certainly didn’t expect what would happen. There is great growth throughout the story of the plot. This is a fast paced, entertaining story that kept me turning pages. I highly recommend this book.

The second installment of this trilogy was just as interesting as the first. Thomas and April’s adventure continues right where it left off in book one. Just as last time, they face challenges along the way, and learn that things don’t always go the way we plan. They soon learn to expect the unexpected and know that as long as they have each other, all will be well. This is my second read from this author, and just as in the first book, his world-building is wonderful and the characters are relatable. As I’m not a math/science person, I did get a little lost in some of the details of the story, but not to the point where I could not enjoy it. Looking forward to book #3!

The Second View (The View from Here Trilogy Book 2) by Leon Stevens

The Second View is the second book in The View from Here Trilogy and is a Sci-Fi Adventure that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend reading the first book if you haven’t already as this one picks up where book one ended. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m hooked already and truly enjoy their style of writing as it’s a bit refreshing to read especially after reading other genres. This story finds Thomas and April on yet another adventure but they will quickly learn things aren’t always as they seem and don’t always goe as planned. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I loved not knowing what was going to happen ahead and the unknown was intriguing. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

April and Thomas continue in this second book in The View trilogy, and pick up right where book 1 left off. As with many sci-fi stories, not everything tends to go as planned, as they continue to explore the world they have discovered. Exploring this desolate world brings to question many things. Where is everyone…what happened here…where are they…or when? I especially am drawn to the way the author builds his worlds, so vivid and full of explanation and detail. Between the mysteries left to be solved, and the humor mixed within, this book did not disappoint at all, and leaves plenty of room to expand into the next installment. Definitely grab book 1 before delving into this one, you will not be disappointed. Well done and well written!

Picking up where we left off from book one, we’re tossed back into the sci-fi adventure! I was excited to see this second book and read more about the creative world the author had made. Science fiction may not be my forte, but I really enjoyed reading the first book so decided reading this one would be worth it – and of course, it was! The pace of this book was perfect and the story connected well with the first book and makes way for the third. I can’t wait to see where things will go from here!
