Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King – Review by Kerry Baker

Evil SushiEvil Sushi by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Evil Sushi by C.A. King is the first book in the Evil Sushi series. This book is the latest great fantasy book by and amazing author.
CA King is an author that I only discovered relatively recently but she has certainly catapulted to the top of my must read list. Everything she writes is fantastic – with strong story lines and interesting characters. This book is exactly what I have come to expect from her.
I will admit the blurb didn’t exactly grab my attention. However knowing how good her other books have been I jumped straight into this one. The story was crazy in the best kind of way. It had me on the edge of my seat a few times.
This is clearly the start of yet another amazing series from this author and I am already excited for book 2!

Calling the Curveball: a Lawson Family Novel by Tracey Cramer Kelly – Review by Karyn Taylor

Calling the CurveballCalling the Curveball by Tracey Cramer-Kelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Calling The Curveball: A Lawson Family Novel is the first book in a new series by Tracey Cramer-Kelly. This was the first time I had read any of this author’s work so was unsure what to expect. Reading the blurb, this looked like just the type of book that I would enjoy and I’m so glad that I gave this book a chance as I really, really enjoyed it.
Jamie Lawson still hasn’t got over the death of his wife in a car accident 6 years previously. He is crippled by guilt as he was the driver of the car and they were having an argument at the time. Injuries he sustained in the accident put an end to a professional baseball career so now he umpires instead.
While umpiring a game he meets the beautiful Kira Walker, a divorced teacher who is in town to spend the summer with her sister’s family.
To say there is an immediate attraction is an understatement but both are broken, especially Jamie. From here we have the most amazing angst filled story of 2 people who are obviously very attracted to each other but are being held back by their pasts.
I loved the characters of Jamie and Kira and I was very quickly drawn into their story. My heart broke for them on so many occasions and being the big softie that I am, tissues were required.
Be prepared to be taken on an amazing roller coaster journey filled with highs and lows. Added to this is Jamie’s awesome family members who we get to meet. I’m sure we will get to know this family much more in the remainder of this series. I already have the 2nd book on my kindle waiting for me and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this intriguing family.

Not Fade Away (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4) by Donna S. Frelick – Review by Cassi Rogers

Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Donna S. Frelick has done it again with her fourth book in the Interstellar Rescue Series; Not Fade Away. I’m going to have to say that this book was my favorite out of the series, and although it is technically the last book, it can defiantly be read as a stand-alone. Donna has such an elegant way of writing character descriptions and bringing a great story plot to life. Her writing in this book was flawless as usual and I felt as if I really connected to the characters that she portrays so well in this story.
Rafe Gordon is and has always been an agent with Rescue. Although he is human, he grew up on a different planet and was raised by his parents, who were both agents of rescue. Rafe is very focused on his job and cares more about his work then finding the love of a woman for more than one night. His father, Del, has been diagnosed with a form of dementia that has taken over much of his brain and personality. Despite being debilitated with this disease he becomes the target of alien assassins and they are forced to relocate to a safer place. Rescue figures the safest place for Del and Rafe to hide for a while is on Earth were Del was born, Masey, North Carolina. After being transported to their new home on the mountains, Del is assigned a home health nurse.
Charlie McIntyre is the home health nurse assigned to Dels case. After her very first visit with her therapy dog, Happy in tow, she realizes there is something entirely different about this particular case. Del frequently has spells of occurrences that are inconsistent with his form of dementia diagnosis. These episodes are really otherworldly and the more time she spends around Del and his dangerously attractive son the more she begins to question not only his diagnosis but also the “story” of who they are. Even if Rafe cares for her, more than he tries to let on, he keeps her at a safe distance. Charlie could never know the secrets that he and Del are keeping. Charlie works at breaking down the barrier of secrets as the assassin closes in. Secrets are exposed as the truth behind the questions of why Del was set as a target in the first place, are revealed. What they are up against is not just an assassin who is on their tails but also a machine that is made to kill and conquer all other planets in orbit.

Protecting His Heart: a Lawson Family Novel (Lawson Family Series Book 2)
By: Tracey Cramer-Kelly
5 out of 5 stars

The story Protecting His Heart: a Lawson Family Novel (Lawson Family Series Book 2) by Tracey Cramer-Kelly is an amazing romance book. It pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the last page. The story takes you on an emotional ride and had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading. I loved reading about the characters of Ian and Rachel. Rachel is a woman with a secret. She is one that wants marriage and a family and believed that Josh was the man to provide that. Her secret doesn’t even let her accept help from a police officer who is kind to her. Ian is a man that had a bad childhood. He has his best friend’s family to thank for his escape. He finds himself tempted by Rachel. What does the future hold for Ian and Rachel? Will Rachel leave Josh? Will Ian trust Rachel with his heart? Read this book to find out. Ian and Rachel are characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to be happy. I also enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters that interacted with Rachel and Ian. The book includes a past that shows up, danger, and forgiveness. I highly recommend reading it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Paladin’s Hell by Manda Mellett a five-star read that will rock you. This is number one in the Colorado Chapter of the cross over Satan’s Devils MC series, you don’t need to have read the cross over before as you can start this, I adore this writer and have loved the characters in her other stories. The multiple POV in this story can get a little confusing at times, but it does get so easy to read. The devotion in this story is just so strong, Paladin and Jaydin will just make you swoon, but they aren’t the only story, and that just gives this so much more.

This is the second book in this series, it is just as good as the first. This author continues to impress me with her writing skills and her ability to pull me into her story with ease. The story is entertaining and fast paced. The characters are connectable, made the story feel real and don’t forget how hot they are. It is a story for forgiving, healing and family. Two characters struggling with their demons, will they find a way to move forward? I highly recommend this book.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1)
By: C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

The story Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King is a supernatural thriller. It is a book that I found entertaining and mysterious. It has suspense, danger, and strange situations that defy reality. Just what is Evil Sushi? Is it a fantasy, fiction or a prophecy as to what many come to pass? I enjoyed reading about many of the characters in the story and some of them I came to care about what happened to them. Others have their own agenda and plans in which they will do anything to make them a reality. The story pays tribute to the horror tales that are told throughout time and had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. What will happen to the characters in the story and Evil Sushi? Read this book to find out. There are moments that I found to be suspenseful and others that I had to shake my head at what the characters did. Don’t miss out on a thrilling tale that is bound to keep you up until you have read the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

Flower Shields (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 1)Flower Shields by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Flower Shields by C.A. King a four-star read that gets a star for each horseman. This is the first story in the Four Horseman series, and I need the rest of the series as I need to know more. I love this author as the stories are super quick to read and always pack a punch, they start on the first page and don’t let up, usually that would mean that you miss character development but it’s not the case with this author. This is definitely a paranormal fantasy read with a little romance on the side, rather than a primary romance. But the story is good, and the writing is great.

This was a great adventure story. Ned and Rod are 2 fishermen who are struggling to make a living as the big companies have caught the fish and destroyed the eco system.

However Rod and Neds luck change when they find a new species of fish. This fish is too good to be true, it reproduces on its own with some salt, it can become several different types of fish. Ned and Rod think their worries are over. However, the fish arent what they seem and when people start having strange reactions and turning murderous questions are asked about what they have actually found.

It was a gripping story from page 1. Full of twists and turns.

Not Fade Away (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4) by Donna S. Frelick – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not Fade Away is an exciting science fiction book by Donna S. Frelick, the fourth in her Interstellar Rescue Series. It focuses on the characters of Del, a retired hero whose limited mobility and dementia means he needs to be cared for by his son, Rescue agent Rafe, and Charlie, a home care nurse in the American town Del and Rafe are hiding in. On the periphery are characters who have been the focus of earlier books, including Gabriel, Lana, Rayna and Sam.
I like how the Interstellar Rescue Series juxtaposes alien worlds and spaceships with normal, everyday Earth. The focus on dementia in this book is particularly poignant and works well within the plot. We get glimpses into Del’s past in the form of flashbacks that leave him disoriented and saying things that Charlie can’t quite make sense of.
Charlie has a dog, Happy, who is a wonderful addition to the cast! Happy and Del develop a very special relationship and Happy comes into his own warning Charlie and Rafe when they are in danger. Space, romance AND a dog – what more could you ask for?
I’ve been enjoying this series so far. The stories kind of work independently but it’s worth starting with the first book, Unchained Memory, to get more of the world-building and start meeting the characters. For me, this is a five star read which I would recommend to sci fi fans who enjoy stories with alien abductions and other interactions between the terrestrial and extraterrestrial.

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia #2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Erin Wolf

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2)Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2), 5 stars.
**This review contains spoilers from book one.**

We briefly met Moon and Katja in the end of book one. This book picks up where that book left off, only now in Moon and Katja’s viewpoint. They thought the couple they met in Greece were just kidding. An adult theme park sounds like fun when you’re relaxing with a few drinks, but it can’t be done. Can it? Seems like Cy is quite serious. When they receive a call from him, Moon is all in board. Katja is more practical and worries about the reality of it all. But Cy and Jolie have a good plan. Can they make this all work or are they doomed for disaster? What about their personal lives?

I loved book one and was excited at were it left off. This book shows us things from a different couple’s view. We see Katja’s struggles both with herself and her sexual side. There are plenty of hot scenes in this book, it is definitely not meant for the faint of heart! As usual though with this author, it is not all about sex. She brings in many more layers to the story to make it an exceptional read — one you won’t want to put down until the end. The characters are great too. I love every one of them and cannot wait to see them again in the next book.

If you like your romance a bit different and enjoy a great story along with it, this book it for you. It can be read as a standalone in my opinion, but I highly recommend reading book one first to understand more.

Elemental Fae Academy: Book Two (Elemental Fae Academy #2)Elemental Fae Academy: Book Two by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this continuing reverse harem series. As more bonds are made danger becomes stronger. Just when they think they have Claire protected..BAM! Something happens they didn’t think of. Claire is starting to feel settled but something happens to Exos and they can’t seem to find him. See what i mean? In the search for Exos we do get to find out who the other elements are that will join this group. Earth, water and air become either attached or on the verge of attachment with Claire

Another great story from this author. My only issues is that when Claire found out that Exos was missing that she didn’t immediately start searching for him? Who would do that? I get she is emotional but if he was that important she would have hopped out of bed and went looking for him.
That is really my only gripe everything else is pretty good.

I normally don’t read reverse harems. I did pick this up because I like this authors other books. I am still not a fan of reverse harems but this author did a good job weaving “time” in for all the bonded males. The story is very creative and I look forward to reading the last next in the series

Ever since reading the first book in the series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next book (especially after the authors left us on one mighty cliff-hanger) and wow it was totally worth the wait! The authors absolutely took it up a level with the continuation of this series – I was glued to the book from beginning to end. The book begins right where book 1 left off and we are thrown right back in to the action of who had kidnapped Exos! I am trying to decide whether I have the right to be jealous of Claire in this book – I mean she is in a fairly dangerous kind of situation but oh my gosh look who she has protecting her!! Just one of them protecting you would be enough but 5 of them!! And they are all HOT!!! I just love the relationship between them all I find it really interesting! I loved that in this book we got to see more of the secondary characters from book 1 – and they are certainly worth getting to know!
Although this book didn’t end on the cliff-hanger book 1 did I am so excited to read book 3! I cannot wait to see what happens!
Again the writing in this book was seamless you do completely forget that it is two authors writing together – their writing style complement each other perfectly! This is definitely a series that shouldn’t be missed!

Calling the Curveball: a Lawson Family Novel (Lawson Family Series Book 1) by Tracey Cramer-Kelly is the sweetest second chance romance and Tracey has knocked that sucker right out the park. I haven’t read anything by Tracey before and this book has made me a fan. The story is one that will stir up your emotions and make your heart ache. Due to the wonderful writings of this author the characters are lovable and they have had so much pain and suffering, loss and guilt in their lives that your heart breaks right along with them. But there is also so much love and hope, wonder and joy to be had that you are not able to walk away until you have finished the book in one sitting. The plot is spot on and Tracey’s words make it easy to envision the world in which they live.

Jamie was on his way to the big time just before tragedy struck and his whole world imploded. He was left a broken man who is still trying to move on but struggling years later. That is until a beautiful and brave woman takes the initiative and invites him to go on a date. Could she be the one to mend his broken and battered heart?

After a messy divorce, Kira Walker is still putting her life and her heart back together and is sworn off men. That is until a visit to her sister and a ball game, someone stir emotions long buried. Deciding to do something out of character, she surprises both herself and the object of her stirring emotions, by asking him on a date. Could he be the one to mend her broken and battered heart?

I absolutely cannot wait to seeing what comes next.

This series just keeps getting better and better! I finished it in one setting because i was so excited to read this story. We picked up exactly where we left off in book one, so reading these books in order is a MUST. We get to see more of Claire and we do add a couple more guys to her harem! Claire is a likable character, and she grows a lot during this book making her that much better. She get more in sync with her powers and tries to embrace her fae side even if that is something very foreign to her. We see more of the men in this book and we get quite a few chapters in their POVs and i loved that! We were able to see things from their sides and we learned some crucial information that way. This book was a lot HOTTER than book one and that for me was a huge bonus. I am looking forward to reading book three and i would love to read more by these authors. I would recommend this series to anyone that likes RH books!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a New Adult romance with open door sex told in third person. It is a story I would recommend to an older teen/young adult.

While this is classified as a “stepbrother” story it seemed more like a John Hughes movie with more explicit sexy times. It has all the classic trappings of a really good teenage drama.

The story flows well and I STRONGLY dislike(d) the main antagonist. He is an egotistical brat who makes the female protagonist miserable. There are great friendships born in this story and it was fun to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this second chance romance! Jamie Lawson and Kira Walker were such interesting characters to get to know, along with all of their friends and families! Six years after his wife’s death in a car accident that also ended his hopes of a baseball career, Jamie still has not forgiven himself for what happened. He certainly doesn’t feel he is worthy of the attention of the new girl in town!

Kira Walker has also been dealt a pretty bad hand when it comes to relationships. Newly divorced, she decides to leave her city life behind for the summer and visit her sister where she meets the sexy umpire and decides a summer fling might be the thing to do!

There are lots of unexpected events throughout this story that will keep you enthralled up to the last page! You truly get to know the characters and feel like they could actually be your friends. They make you want to be there for them during the bad times and to help them celebrate the good times! I am certainly looking forward to getting to know more of the Lawson family in futures works by this author!

Friend (What Happens on Campus Series #3) by M.L. Sparrow

5 out of 5 stars

Friend is the third book in What Happens on Campus series written by Ms. Sparrow. Friend is an adult sports /nerd romance that hits all the right spots. We get to see plenty of action on this campus. The characters are well written and are mature for their ages especially what they have been through. The plot was believable with college kids and their struggles and triumphs. We also get to see the awesome characters from the other books

Terri Murphy and Jet Chang have been best friend for the last three years. Teri has always had a crush on Jet but he never saw her like that. When Terri is attacked on campus it leaves her feeling shattered and vulnerable. Now with everyone else heading off for Spring Break, the only person that’s left is the only one she wants around anyway, Jet.
Jet decides to stay on campus rather than go home for Spring Break as planned and sets about trying to help Terri put herself back together and distracting her with fun-filled days out. However, when he looks away from his laptop and the career as an author he’s trying to carve out for himself, he notices things about Terri that he hadn’t before.
Can Terri get her confidence back or will she fall into a depression? Can Jet help Terri? Will Jet be able to convince Terri that he really is in love with her or will she turn him away? Will they have the confidence to tell each other how they really feel.
I highly recommend this book/series….

I’m sad to see this series end, but glad I got to read it! Do not read these out of order, it helps to set the story and feel for this book.
Terri has loved Jet for as long as she’s been at school with him, but he’s to blind to see it until he’s lifted out of the fog he puts himself in.
This book deals with a traumatic event and was handled well in this book as it’s a very real thing that happens way too often.

Elemental Fae Academy (Elemental Fae Academy, #1)Elemental Fae Academy by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elemental Fae Academy: Book One: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance by Lexi C. Foss & J.R. Thorn is a fabulous start to this paranormal fantasy series by the dynamic duo. Separately their work is great but together, brilliant. Reverse harem stories are ok if done well and this is a sizzling tale done oh so good. But that is not all that is great about this story, there is magic and mystery, drama and action, lies and danger, and the heat is turned way up.
Everything is easily imagined as the details takes you to a world so vivid and rich that you easily get lost in it. The characters are well developed and you become invested with them. It is told from multiple points of view, which I absolutely love as it really gives you a deeper look of what is happening and what the characters are thinking. Definitely one of my fav reads this year.

Clare awakes and finds herself in a whole new world and discovers that she is more than she could have ever imagined. A dare that started it all and that a kiss is not just a kiss. Coming into her magic is not an easy feat and one that needs to be harnessed and controlled quickly or there will be dire consequences. Not only that, she has the use of more than one powerful magic and each magic calls to like magic, creating some explosive chemistry. With a past legacy putting her in danger, protecting her is easier said than done.

The spellbinding story is unique and I can’t wait to read what comes next. It does end on a cliffhanger and I want to smack the authors for leaving me hanging.

Elemental Fae Academy (Elemental Fae Academy Book 2) by Lexi C. Foss & J.R. Thorn – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Elemental Fae Academy: Book Two (Elemental Fae Academy #2)Elemental Fae Academy: Book Two by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is as full of action, suspense and magic. It is fast reading and a page turner. The twists and turns left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. In this book the MC is in search of his link before it is too late as his Spirit is dying and someone is out to get them. The characters are all supportive of each other and bring something to the story that makes it feel as if you are right there. I highly recommend finding out what happens next!

Lexi C. Foss is already one of my go-to authors, so picking up this read was a no brainer! Adding J.R. Thorn into the mix made for an epic read!
I was captivated and entranced by this read from the start. Nothing could make me put this read down. This read was beautifully written it was mentally visual and had some amazing characters with an even better storyline. From the moment I started this read, I have been weaved into an amazing fantasy world that I can’t help but want to be a part of.
This book was easy to read and it flowed effortlessly from chapter to chapter.

I absolutely cannot wait to be drawn back into this series again, and to see where Book #2 takes us! Until then most definitely do not miss this read!

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis – Review by Emily Walsh

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles, #3)Rebel Jewel
By: Natalina Reis
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis was hooking, engaging, and it had me flipping the pages.

Oh wow, what a way to end an amazing series. I’m sad to see these characters go, but happy they got their ending, and what a ending it was. Now this book is part of a series, and I highly suggest reading the first two book, or you will be confused as to what is going on, and you will miss out on the impact this full complete story brings. I’m not going to get into details, as I don’t want to spoil anything. But just know this book, this series is a must read. Not only well written, it has action, love, danger, amazing detail, and connecting well developed characters that you can’t help but fall for. The plot is both complex and multi layered, and keeps you fully engaged form start to finish.

This book, this series has it all and it’s a super high recommend from me, and it also gets my golden stamp of approval

Happy Reading

Shameless (The Orphan Train Saga Book 2) by Sherry A. Burton – Review by Emily Walsh

Shameless (The Orphan Train Saga Book 2)Shameless
By: Sherry A. Burton
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shameless (The Orphan Train Saga Book 2) by Sherry A. Burton was just as good as the first book and kept me reading.

The second book in this fresh original series once again takes us back to a time long gone, and on an adventure that is both heart breaking, nerve wrecking and touching. I fell right into the easy writing style and the details of the era that this book takes place in. You can tell care and research went into making this book not only engaging and picturesque but, it makes this book a portal that hooked you, puling you in, making you almost apart of this story.

Overall this book is worth your time and energy. As this is part of a series, I highly suggest reading the first book, as you will miss backstory, and important details that will make this book confusing otherwise. So please take my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval, that you will not be able to put this series, nor this book down.

Happy Reading

OF WAR AND TATERS by Ashley Chappell – Review by Mirela Ruiz

Of War and TatersOf War and Taters by Ashley Chappell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Of War and Taters by Ashley Chappell was an intriguing read! I would give this book a four out of five stars. I really did not know what to expect, but really enjoyed it. A part of me enjoyed the misunderstanding because it just highlights that the media focuses on the story they want to sell. I enjoyed the unexpected twists and turns throughout the book. Stanley was my favorite character, I could not put the book down because of him.
