Spooked by a SuspicionSpooked by a Suspicion by Risa Nyman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The realistically, intriguing sequel to Swallowed by a Secret. Rocky is dealing with his mother’s remarriage this time. Oh, the trouble he’ll get into this time. His friends are back, as well as new friends he’ll make at Literary Camp. No disappointment with any of the writing, any adult can empathize with Rocky’s feelings. I am the child of divorced parents and felt those feelings he went through. Boy did they take me back, I can remember trying those. Great YA novel and a trip down memory lane for adults. Worth the read.

Gone Country (Gone in Love) by Katrina Marie – Review by Betsy Melano

Gone Country (Cousins Gone #1)Gone Country by Katrina Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gone Country by Katrina Marie is the first book in the Gone in Love series. Stella has worked long hours, sometimes even missing out on fun plans with her cousins Audrey and Tiffany. The three of them have been more like sisters ever since they were young and spent summers together and now as adults have moved to Austin, Texas, to live near each other. When Stella is given the opportunity to prove herself to her employer but needs to relocate by moving to a small town. Will this small town reminiscent of sheer Stella grew up change her mind about living in the city or will something else make her stay?
This book was well written and I throughly enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I hope you love it as much as I did.

Gone Country (Gone in Love) by Katrina Marie

This is the first book by Marie. Gone Country is about a city girl who moves to a small country town. She meets and falls in love with a mechanic.

Stella moves from Austin to Asheville for her job. She leaves behind her two cousins and best friends. On her first night there she meets her true love. The one who will ease her stress away at the end of the night. The quote I chose for Stella is: “And put some damn clothes on.”

Johnny is headed home after his friend cancels on him. He finds a beautiful woman stranded on the side of the road. He does suggest casual dating, but it doesn’t last long. The quote I chose for Johnny is: “Yep. She inherited it from her father when he passed away. When he owned it, it was just another bar where the local drunks hung out. Then Angie took over and gutted the inside, updating everything in here so she could open back up. She’s actually the one who renamed it. Kind of like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. She said she wanted to turn it from something ugly to a beautiful place where guys would be proud to take their dates. I have to say, there have been fewer bar fights since she became the owner.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

Deadly Words (Born Bad Book 1) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Nakyshia Leger

Deadly Words (Born Bad, #1)Deadly Words by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a twisted ride! This is the first book I’ve read by Meghan O’Flynn but it certainly won’t be my last! In Deadly Words, you get a look inside Poppy’s mind and man is it a dark place to be! As the daughter or a serial killer, Poppy often finds herself in predicaments where she questions if her actions are her own or if she was just born that way. We get a look into the upbringing of Poppy and events that led to who she is today. There were quite a few “WTF?!” and “No way!!” moments in the book for me. O’Flynn has created a character and story so enthralling that you don’t want to stop reading and are disappointed when the book ends. Luckily there are more books in this series and I can’t wait to follow Poppy’s journey!

Deadly Words (Born Bad, #1)Deadly Words by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Born Bad series and wow what a start. I loved it. This book is very dark and I love how the author gets into the mind of our lead character Poppy. She is able to give us an insight into the mind of someone who grew up with her father who was a psychopath. How has his action affected her? And she constantly worries about the question that plagues many criminal psychologists. Are psychopaths born evil? And if they are does Poppy have the same tendencies as her father? Is she a bad person?

With her father in jail for the murder of Poppy’s boyfriend and Poppy now an adult she is trying to move on with her life and recover from her past. However all this could be destroyed when a stranger who is writing a book about her dad turns up and says someone is watching him and he thinks it’s her dad.
Will Poppy believe him or will she think he is as paranoid as she is?
We are the dragged through a story full of twists and turns as we try to find out who is lurking in the shadows and we learn more secrets that Poppy has kept hidden all her life.
The reader will be throughly gripped and this book will get your mind thinking over the same question. Are people born evil?

A Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

A Natural PassionA Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Natural Passion is set at a turtle conservation center, the center is trying to protect egg nests along the coast that continue to be poached. Dylan, is a 32 year-old male, who runs the center. Dylan is in love with Kyra, an intern, who is 10 years younger. However, Kyra has a crush on Jake, who is a complete ass. It’s a love story that evolves due to having the same passions for natural life. I thought that the story itself was sweetly predictable. The development of the love story was sweet and I am glad that the good guy won in the end. I would have liked a little more of the story of seeing them together, but at the end you knew they would go on to have an amazing relationship. In the end, it was an easy and easy read that made you feel satisfied at the end.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an adorable short story based out of Australia. Although reading it in third person wasn’t a problem, it was hard to keep up with who’s side of things the author was talking about. The switch between the two characters happened back and forth throughout the story and there wasn’t much of a re-intro to the characters. It just flowed back and forth between thoughts and actions of the two main characters.
Otherwise, adorable story, fun, quick read. It was enjoyable! I would definitely read this author’s work again!

Something Lost (Funerals and Weddings Series Book 1) by Bernadette Marie – Review by Karyn Taylor

Something LostSomething Lost by Bernadette Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Something Lost is the first book in the Funerals and Weddings series by Bernadette Marie. Bernadette Marie has an amazing talent of writing series that focus on a family and we get the stories of each of the siblings. In this series we are getting the stories of 5 guys who played on the same team in college, known as The Famous Five.
We start with the funeral of their coach which brings the five guys together. In this book we get the story of star player Craig Turner who had broke the rules and dated the coach’s daughter. Now 10 years later they meet again at his funeral. Will the spark still be there?
I absolutely adored Craig and Rachel’s story. I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and this is definitely a good second chance romance. Of course the path to true love never runs smoothly and there are many obstacles in Rachel and Craig’s way, including Rachel’s family who blamed Craig for they problems Rachel had when he went off to college. Can Rachel and Craig convince her family that they are meant to be together? That they have both still loved each other after all these years?
One thing I loved about this book is the camaraderie between the five guys and I can’t wait to get to know the others better as we get each of their stories.

The Boss Prince (It’s Raining Royals) by Alix Nichols – Review by Karen (Melody) Marsh

The Boss Prince (It's Raining Royals, #1)The Boss Prince by Alix Nichols
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Prince by Alix Nichols is a good romance novel. It has just the right amount of magic and romance to make it feel attainable yet still fantasy. I do wish the prophecy was explained a little better because I am not entirely sure about Mount Evor and MINDFUCH and what feels like magic, but the romance was excellent and detailed!

Following The Key to the Key and Max, we see a good amount of back and forth. Lucie refuses to get involved in another boss and Max has more important things to worry about than a girl to warm his bed. But reading their feelings as they both tottle along their feelings was heartwarming and very sweet! Sometimes a little steamy too 😉 This was a very good book! I can’t wait to continue this series!

A Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly – Review by Karen (Melody) Marsh

A Natural PassionA Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Natural Passion by Tammy Mannersly was a wonderfully written novella. I am falling in love with Mannersly’s writing style! She doesn’t use overly large words but instead lets the descriptive words run free. Her novella’s are short, sweet, and quite to the point, but not a moment goes by that you can’t accurately picture the setting!

This book follows Dylan and Kyra as they take everything day by day. Although the plot was fairly predictable, it was not the cliché “oh they get to be together and live happily blah”. This is more focused on the small aspects, the little self doubts they have, and the jobs that both Kyra and Dylan love more than pretty much anything else. A Natural Passion is a must read and it won’t take much brain power to read because it flows so well and as soon as you start, you can’t stop!!!

The Bow (Her Three Immortals Book 3) by Hazel Storm
4 Stars

Vanessa has gained the heart of Grey but the wrath of his mother. It’s never a good idea to anger a god, especially a jealous female one. The Queen of the Underworld sends Vanessa on a quest which seems simple enough but ends up being anything but easy. She ends up in the Overworld again but not for long. Aroz whisks her away to his hidden palace for “protection “. How is she supposed to complete her mission when she’s kidnapped by another god?

This story is full of twists and turns and full of surprises. The plot thickens as the author delves deeper into the myths of the greek gods. I think she has done an amazing job weaving this series together. I was happy to see that there will be a fourth book. I’m looking forward to reading that one as well. I found that this book was different than the other two, in a good way. There was more of a story to it. There were more hit and erotic sex scenes as well, which were extremely fun to read. Good job Ms. Storm!

For a short book I was not expecting things to happen very quickly and unexpectedly! Hazel does an excellent job keeping the reader on the edge of your seat! There’s romance, and steamy scenes, but they don’t overpower the story. The entire time I was rooting for Piper to get better and then that cliffhanger absolutely gutted me!! My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out by Amy McKinley a strong five-star read. This is number one in the Mafia Elite series, and it shows us what a great author we have here and also what a great series this promises to be. Liliana what a great character she is, but she has her own surprises, one being the strength of character she shows, but she has more that just her strength. Max was sublime, he also has surprises and secrets, this took me a while to get properly stuck into, but my goodness once I was stuck, I couldn’t be separated from this story. I was so gutted when this ended, I was sat wishing there were a hundred more pages as I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet.

Family Secrets (A Whispering Pines Mystery) by Shawn McGuire – Review by Kayla Kearney

Family Secrets (Whispering Pines Mystery #1)Family Secrets by Shawn McGuire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic read to start spooky season! The suspenseful mystery Family Secrets by Shawn McGuire, first book in the Whispering Pines series, this book will have you hooked from the very first chapter!

A classic whodunit mystery, somewhat newcomer Jayne O’Shea arrives in her grandparents hometown to discover a murder. She meets Tripp, a camper in the village, who helps her with her investigation while also helping fix up her grandparents’ house, which was the reason she came to Whispering Pines in the first place.

As someone who has been questioning her spiritual beliefs over the last few years, reading about the Wiccan religion and witchcraft in general was especially interesting to me and I love how they incorporated it into the story line. It definitely put an interesting twist on things and I hope it remains prevalent in the books to come!

The book leaves some unanswered questions, so I definitely plan to read the rest of the books in this series!

Swindler's RevengeSwindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Swindler’s Revenge is book five in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries by Ellen Butler. A new to me author, this story was a great way to sink my teeth into Ellen Butler’s work. I was cackling away from the very first chapter. The engagement with Karina was instant. This rebel has an agenda and it’s not just to solve a mystery. This character is constantly busy and drama is ever present at ever chapter. Karina’s quick wit is enviable, her personality larger than life, and the author’s portrayal of each character encouraging.

If you are wanting excitement, energy, suspense, romance and constant activity, then this story is for you. I certainly enjoyed every word, and will be going to read the rest of the books I have to get caught up on all that is crazy enthralling Karina. 4 stars.

Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler – Review by Char Wahtomy-Alba

This is the first book I have read by this author and it was a great first book. I realized after I was a few pages in that it went to a series, but I didn’t feel like I had missed out on a lot. It does make me want to go back and read the other adventures from the first book.

In Swindler’s Revenge Karina Cardinal has her Saturday morning interrupted by the FBI. They are looking for her ex boyfriend Mike Finnegan as he supposedly took a $1.2 million bribe. She doesn’t believe he would do something like that, but the FBI believes they have the right man. Mike believes he was framed and thinks he knows who is behind it, but how can he prove he didn’t do what he is accused of? Karina believes that Mike is genuinely a good guy and jumps in feet first to help him out of this jam. How much danger is she putting herself in to help out a friend?

This book was romantic, hilarious, thrilling and extremely entertaining. Reading this book went so quickly. I absolutely loved the main character Rowan. My only complaint is that this book is too short! I found myself falling in love with Dylan the moment he was introduced and then it was this all took place in Australia and he immediately turned into a Hemsworth brother in my mind. I really enjoyed that it was light-hearted and still gave me butterflies sometimes romantic scenes don’t have to be extremely explicit. Just a little hint of cuteness can leave the mind wandering off to explore what the reader wants to happen. I would recommend this as a quick read while on lunch at work and are in desperate need of an escape. This book will have you traveling off to Australia to save the sea turtles and forgetting your normal day-to-day life. I can’t wait to reread it.

This is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. It can stand alone, but I am going to go back and read the first four books. I fell in love with Karina!! Her outrageous plans, her determination, the way the people around her trust her is just amazing and well written.
Karina falls into a mess when her ex is though to have embezzled 1.2 million dollars and taken off with it. The FBI show up to her door she is antagonistic with them, but they continue searching her house. She knows Mike didn’t do this, but who did? Who can she go to help Mike? Can she completely trust them with this delicate issue? The people she does trust, can they find all the information before time runs out?
I couldn’t stop turning the pages. What was going to happen next? What bright dangerous idea was going to come out of Karina’s mouth next. She had me laughing, loving, fearing for their safety. I just did the emotional Olympics. THANK YOU, ELLEN BUTLER!!!!

When Colin passes away, Ryan and Sindy find out they are both half owners of his practice that he is leaving behind. Fate brought them together, can they both heal and love. I absolutely love that Hazel Storm has made Greek Gods characters in her stories. This book had me seriously glued to it from start to finish. I literally could not put it down because I wanted to find out what would happen next. I found myself immersed in another world, experiencing all of the different emotions that Vanessa felt as she found herself drawn to two people that are complete opposites. Raef is pure and light like Vanessa, and Grey is dark and dangerously sexy. Both of them are irresistible in their own ways.
I really enjoyed how this book made me ponder life after death and just what awaits you at the end of this lifetime. It does so in a way that steals your breath away and leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I smiled, laughed, teared up and gasped with shock at various parts of this book. This amazing story will run you through the entire gamut of emotions. My mouth was wide open at the twist ending and I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. Do yourself a favor and get lost in the world that Hazel Storm has so eloquently created.

As you read and learn more about Vulture and his world and Danielle and her being sucked right into all the chaos. And as things progress towards the end, questions are answered leaving you thrilled at the prospect of what is next to come in the series!

Danielle is independent, adventurous and brave and is so much more than she appears. Vulture is cold and immoveable yet these two get shoved into a situation much bigger than they realize at the start and it only gets better as you read! Swindler’s Revenge (The Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) – Review by Krystal Gregory

Swindler's RevengeSwindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Swindler’s Revenge is a fantastic addition to the Marina Cardinal Series. I love that the overall tone of this book. Karina Cardinal or K.C. really seems to find herself in one hotspot after another. I mean, I love the girl, I really do, but she needs to work on her self-preservation. KC finds herself in the middle of an FBI investigation after her ex-boyfriend is accused of some pretty shady things. KC is convinced that the ex-boyfriend Michael, is innocent. She is going to have a heck of a time proving it while the FBI is breathing down her neck.

This book is equal parts hilarious, dramatic, suspenseful, mysterious, and has some hot chemistry. Lovers of all those genres will love this book. This is part 5 of the series and can be read as a stand-alone, however, I feel that, with all series, you should read them in book order, as the author intended. This is a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
