Unsettled Scores (DAG Team Series Book 2) by Kel O’Connor – Review by Angela Hayes

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team #2)Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Connor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Unsettled Scores is the second book in the DAG Team series by Kel O’Connor. This is my first book by Ms. O’Connor, and I reallly wish I had realised that this was the second book in the series before I dove in. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I feel I would have benefitted by reading Book One before embarking on this story. There appears to be a crossover of timelines and events between this book and the first- so I will definitely be going back to read ‘Broken Bits’ before reading any further instalments in the series.
This is an exciting romantic suspense with plenty of action, adventure, drama, danger, and steam. The death of Amy’s sister 3 years previously has impacted her life on so many levels and driven a wedge between her and the rest of her family. Her thoughts are full of anger and revenge- which leaves little room for anything else. She focuses on her work as a way of dealing with her pain- but she isn’t really living. Her latest assignment brings things to a head…
Hugh Bainbridge IV is determined to uncover how drugs are being smuggled into his mother’s charity, which brings Amy into his world. She more than intrigues him and soon they are both thrust into a highly volatile situation. Sparks fly, chemistry sizzles, secrets are revealed, while danger abounds.
Can’t wait for more of DAG Team!!!

Thank you, Kel O’Connor!

Caine (Men of Syn Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Angela Hayes

Caine (Men of Syn, #2)Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Caine is the second book in The Men of Syn Series by Anise Storm. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book ever since devouring ‘Hawke’ (Book One). So, to say I had high expectations would be a bit of an understatement.
Caine is on the run and is offered sanctuary at his friend Hawke’s BDSM club, SYN. (We met Hawke back in book one and got to see some of the inner workings of Syn back there). Being wanted for murder means he needs to keep his head down and keep a low profile until he can clear his name. But things take an unexpected turn when he encounters Emery.
Emery’s life was turned upside down in an instant. He ‘perfect’ world destroyed when her father is implicated in a scandal. Her life as a rich, spoiled society princess crumbles and she falls from her throne- all the trappings of her former life are gone, and she’s completely broke. Emery is determined to find a way to clear her father’s name and regain everything they lost. Then she meets Caine who brings his own complications to the mix. Get set for one heck of a hot and steamy ride here. Add in more than a few secrets that threated to destroy everything as well as bringing danger and intensity into the already combustible mix. This has taken my ‘Men of SYN’ addiction and amped it up to a whole new level!
Can’t wait to get my hands on Book #3!!!

Thank you, Anise Storm!

Scarlet Princess (Lochlann Feuds Book 1) by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison – Review by Jenni Bishop

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scarlet Princess is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle & Elle Madison. It is a quick read with lots of adventure. The world building, the plot and the characters are done well in this a sweet and fun romance. This is my first read of this duo and I found myself genuinely enjoying it and lost in the journey.
Rowan our strong willed and fiery red headed heroine is strong, feisty, sassy, and fun. She is entertaining to say the least and she is so well written you can’t help but lover her. I love the banter between the characters and often found myself laughing out loud.
Just kind of ended because there is one of those that many hate, yes there is a cliff hanger.

My Soul to Give (A Demon’s Love Book 1) by M. A. Fréchette – Review by Angela Hayes

My Soul to Give (A Demon's Love #1)My Soul to Give by Magali A. Fréchette
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

My Soul to Give is the first book in A Demon’s Love series by M. A. Fréchette. It is a very original paranormal romance with plenty of sizzle, demons, danger, secrets, drama, revenge, suspense, twists, violence, and mystery. The story has a dark tone that makes for very raw, gritty, and intriguing reading.
The story starts off with a bang- Celina has been shot and her husband murdered, and as she lies dying she is consumed with thoughts of revenge. In the few moments that she has left of life, she gets an opportunity to make ‘a deal with the devil’- in return for her soul she will get her chance for revenge. But we all know that making a deal with the devil is never quite that simple- there is always a higher price to pay. Well, this story takes the whole ‘deal with the devil’ trope and gives it a bit of and adrenaline and steroid infusion- as well as a dose of the gruesome.
The only issue I had with this book was that I felt that while the story was very detailed and descriptive, some elements and threads seemed to end abruptly, or trailed off leaving me with questions. There were parts that felt unglued and just didn’t gel for me- like I was missing something- which pulled me out of the story and disrupted the flow.
If you love the paranormal and dark romance, then you will probably want to get your hands on a copy of this book, pronto…
Bring on Book #2- “My Life to Take”.

Thank you, M.A. Fréchette!

Notebook Mysteries ~ Decisions and Possibilities by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Jenni Bishop

Notebook Mysteries ~ Decisions and PossibilitiesNotebook Mysteries ~ Decisions and Possibilities by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Notebook Mysteries ~ Decisions and Possibilities by Kimberly Mullins is the second book in the series. This YA tale is full of fun and adventure where a strong-minded young woman is an amateur super sleuth who loves nothing better than solving crimes and getting behind the mystery. The story is set in an era where women were not as equal as their counterparts, so our heroine is strongly involved with women’s rights to be seen and heard and not chained to the kitchen. It reminds me a bit of Nancy Drew. This tale will draw you in and will delight those who are a bit of an amateur sleuth themselves. As an added bonus Kimberly has provided a few recipes that will delight the palate.

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team Series Book 2) by Kel O’Connor – Review by Jenni Bishop

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team #2)Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Connor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unsettled Scores: Book 2 of the DAG Team Series by Kel O’Conner another fantastic romantic thriller and addition to this series. I don’t read blurbs or take much notice of covers as I like to go in blind with no expectations. I quickly realised that this was book 2 so I stopped and grabbed book one and I suggest you do the same before starting this book. I loved the simple cover on this one and was glad that I knew nothing of this story as it was thoroughly engrossing. It is also engaging, action packed, and romantic. This is only Kel’s second book, but it has certainly put her on my TBR list as a go to author. Her narrative, world building, plotting and character building is spot on and makes you want to go back for more.

Romancing the Tropics (A Tropical Cocktail Romance Boxset) by L.M. Mountford – Review by Angela Hayes

Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance)

Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

Romancing the Tropics: A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance) is a two book box set by L.M Mountford. The two novellas that make up this boxset are:
‘Tequila Sunset’– an older man/younger woman story set in Gibraltar. It is hot and steamy, with a ‘taboo’ element in the form of the ‘best friend’s father’. As expected from L.M, it is full of sexy details that will keep you avidly reading from start to finish.

‘Beneath the Sheets’– a friends to lovers story set in Sydney Australia, where the characters share a past history and reunite after a long period of time. Get set for plenty of chemistry and sizzle…

This is a very quick, easy and fast paced read. There are a LOT of steamy scenes which make for ‘HOT’ reading.

Thank you, L.M Mountford!

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Lianne Probert

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance is the first book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.

Oh my goodness, I loved this book. This is not my first book by Amy McKinley, so I already had high expectations when I started reading, and this book did not disappoint.
Liliana is nothing more than a pawn in her father’s wicked games. He sees her as a bargaining chip, and she is trapped in this dangerous and suffocating world until he sets her free. I love the strength and fierceness of Liliana, she is feisty and smart in the face of uncertainty and betrayal.
Max is assigned to be Liliana’s bodyguard, but this is no accident as he has a dark history and past that he is determined to save Liliana from. I love the style of writing in this book, it feels as though the author has really found her words with this genre, I couldn’t stop reading.
I can’t wait for book two!

Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler
Genre – Mystery/Thriller/Suspense
Page Count – 266 pages
Cover Designer – Power to the Pen
Karina Cardinal’s Saturday starts out with a bang, and it’s not the home renovation marathon she’s watching on HGTV. It’s the FBI banging on her door, hunting for a fugitive. As if she could easily hide one in her modest condo. Especially one named Mike Finnegan.
The two of them called it splitsville a couple months ago, but Mike? Take a $1.2 million bribe? No and no and no. No matter how much damning evidence the feds claim to have.
When a mysterious burner phone shows up in her pocket, Karina has no doubt who dropped it there. Mike is deep undercover and so far off-grid, he needs help to figure out who’s framing him—and why.
Classic Karina, she jumps in with both feet, ignoring the dangers. The trouble with leaping before you look? You can land in a world of dirt. And when an old enemy starts playing hardball, you can end up six feet under it.

Whoo!! I loved these two books in this box set. This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author and it was well worth the read. Each story is a stand alone and all steamy. It got to the meat and potatoes without any of the fluff. If you just want sex scenes then this is a read for you! I thouroughly enjoyed these two books and will definitely be buying more later on! Well written and composed. 5 out of 5 stars!

Slow Burn by A.K. Macbride – Review by Trish Ann

Slow Burn (Breathing Hearts, #2)Slow Burn by A.K. MacBride
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! The plot was very sweet and tied up the loose pieces all around. I feel like the arcs were complete for both Maddie and Adam. The moment with Maddie and her father was exactly the right and I definitely did not expect it to happen in the way it did. Sheldon was a great link that helped break down the walls.

I really appreciated Maddie’s passion for dancing and the way the author painted the picture of her dancing on the beach. I felt that connection of art and healing is really important.

Overall, I look forward to reading more from this author!

It was a short, quick read. I thought Willa and Brody were sweet together. Overall, the plot was very light and things moved along. The conflict with Hayden and Carmody made sense to the story. I would have wished for just a little bit more depth overall. In the end though, it was a cute story.

Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis – Review by Krystal Gregory

Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis
4 out of 5 Stars
Dating the Intern is such a sweet book. I loved Ivory and Li Quang. I loved the relationship they had before, and I loved the relationship it developed into. Ivory is a CEO of a successful dating company and Li Qiang is an intern in her office and is nearly ten years younger. When a mishap with the local TV station occurs, Li Qiang offers to pose as her boyfriend, believing it will solve all the problems, but it may just cause more. This book was beyond adorable, and Reis is an incredible author. The only thing I wish I had more of was learning more about Li Qiang’s success and why he was an intern. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
