Forever Valentine (Kirk University, #6)Forever Valentine by Diana Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! I read it all in one day. If you are looking for a book that has romance and some love making in it this book is definitely for you! My favorite thing is how the author made it relatable to relationships nowadays and how we try to take one our partners struggles because we hate seeing them struggle or hurt.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brody is an actor who has taken some time to prepare for an upcoming role. One night he sees what appears to be a burglar breaking into the house next door. Unbeknownst to him it is Willabelle, the neighbors granddaughter there to house sit.
They are both instantly attracted to one another and from there on out inseparable, until a little speed bump of drama, in the form of an ex and a substitute publicist, interferes. This is a quick, to the point, easy read about instant love and a little bit of drama.

Caine (Men of Syn, #2)Caine by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been excited about this one! I enjoyed reading Hawke, so had high hopes for what came next from Anise Storm and her Men of Syn. We met Emery in the first book, but she wasn’t sitting high and mighty living off Daddy in this one. Fallen princess meets dominant Caine. Trying to lay low, Caine is working to clear his name. What happens when their worlds collide? Steam, possession, love and secrets. I loved the growth in Emery by the end, and dare I say… I loved Caine even more than Hawke!

Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Swindler's RevengeSwindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Swindler’s Revenge is the fifth book in Ellen Butler’s exciting Karina Cardinal Mystery series. Kariba has a knack for getting caught up in a variety of complicated and dangerous cases. Fortunately, by this stage in the series, she’s well-versed in legal procedures and self-defence, and has friends she knows she can turn to. Not that that means she’s in any less danger…

In Swindler’s Revenge, Karina’s ex Mike has been accused of acquiring over a million dollars by some nefarious means. Having parted on (reasonably) good terms, and unconvinced that Mike is guilty, Karina chooses to help Mike evade the FBI until she can work out what really happened.

It’s a real page turner, full of plenty of details and clues to keep the reader engaged. There are some great characters – I have a bit of a soft spot for Rodrigo, who’s always got Karina’s back and who is as (if not more) observant as the trained people at the FBI and Silverthorne.

I’d recommend reading this series from the start, although you can absolutely jump in here if this book particularly appeals to you. Karina develops as a character over the course of the series so it’s good to see that unfolding.

This book gets five stars from me, a great addition to the series! It’s a must-read for anyone who likes snuggling up with a good mystery.

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team #2)Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Connor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Conner is the second book in the DAG Team series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although the stories do seem to overlap so reading the previous book first could be beneficial.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be a pretty fast paced book. The writing was exciting and the author knew just when to throw in some twists and turns.
The characters were interesting and engaging. They are the kind of ones that you get behind right from the start. This was a great book that I found thoroughly enjoyable. I will be going back to read book one.

Once again, James Talisman weaves an intricate tale of adventure and mystery in the second book of the Journeys Through series! I don’t normally pick up sci-fi, but this book did keep my attention. Picking up right where the first left off, the twists and turns had me invested from beginning to end. The MC characters are little black and white, I would have liked to see more grey for them. I loved how so many points in the multiverse are connected across time and space. Even if the genre isn’t normally your thing, I would encourage giving this book a shot. I am excited to see what else this author will create in the future!

Scarlet Princess (Lochlann Feuds Book 1) by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a good story or of a strong willed princess who was someone that was easily admired in more than one way. The story seamed to weave just so perfectly, and everything that happened, made sense, and the twists and turns and impact it did to the story was undeniable! I could easily be apart of this kingdom helping Rowan with the issues she faced. It was that amazing of a story!

It was not hard to like Rowan. She had the brilliant mind of a ruler, but also the right amount of sass for any situation and the perfect ruler for her kingdom in my opinion. She was more than just well written, she was very realistic in more ways than one! She faced trouble sort to say through out this book, but she knew how to handle her self, and wanted to be her independent self. She may be trouble some at times, but when the fight for life as well as her kingdom comes up, she is more stronger in her heart than anyone probably ever expected, as well as a force not to be reckoned with!

I loved how the story played out. With not just our heroine, Rowan, but with the other characters she meets and we are introduced to through out the book. Characters I met, I thought were say a “good guy” but is that the intention or someone more wicked? Or am I wrong of the wickedness? There was so much awesome components to this novel! When I got to the end, I was like no! I want to know more, but this is where it will pause to the next one in the series. I need the next installment, out as of well like yesterday haha. It was so easy to get lost into this book, and I loved it from beginning to the pause at the end.

The author had put together a wonderful story that flowed like a beautiful river, each thing leading to the next. Every word and action led to what happened next. It was an amazing read, and so very easy to get sucked into the story line, and get lost in. Which i certainly did! The writing and technique truly spoke for itself and I anxiously am awaiting to see what unfolds in the next book in this amazing series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book written by two authors that I was unfamiliar with. I must say that they did an unbelievable job of writing this book together. I LOVED IT! I fell madly in love with the main character, and I want to be her. Seriously. She is such a strong willed and independent person that I couldn’t help but love her. And root for her success I did. There is apparently a series that was written previously that takes place in the same land of Lochlann that I didn’t know about before reading this book. I don’t think it’s required to read it prior to beginning this one. However, I do plan to go to my library to check them out just so I can get more insight into the land. I will say, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK! I promise that you will love and enjoy it just as much as I did. I honestly can’t say that this book had any flaws. I cannot wait to read book 2. Thank you ladies for such a wonderfully, well written book.

This is the 5th book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series, a series that I believe should be read in order as each new book sort of follows the last with the same main characters. Just like the other books of the series I was able to read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading.

I loved the funny banter between the characters, the mystery and trying to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. I have enjoyed each book of the series but this one has been my favorite so far. If you are looking for an entertaining, funny, light hearted mystery look no further this is the book for you!

Romancing the Tropics (A Tropical Cocktail Romance Boxset) by L.M. Mountford – Review by Kerry Carr

Romancing the TropicsRomancing the Tropics by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book contains 2 stories and  both if them are steamy romances. The author does an amazing job at bringing the chemistry and passion between the couples alive through these pages.

The first book is about a young woman who had her heart broken by her ex. Trying to rediscover who she is, she acts on her attraction to her best friends dad. She has been attracted to him for years and now she wants to see if the reality matches her dreams. The chemistry and attraction between them is very hot and the passion makes for a very steamy encounter.

The second story is about a couple who had a night together at prom. The next day Sarah left. Years later after an abusive relationship Alex decides he’s going to find his first love. This story is different from the first story because both Sarah and Alex even though their feelings for each other are the same both are scared they will be rejected by the other. So their passion  is slower to build but just as special and magical when it happens.

Swindler's RevengeSwindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. One of the things I most enjoy about this author and her books is the fact that they are well written and her use of details make her stories realistic. I enjoyed being pulled into this story by the suspense and the great characters. I found them to be connectable and they made the story engaging. This is a fast paced story about a hunt for a fugitive who just happens to be someone you know and what happens if you leap before you look. Karina is back in another crime stopper story. This time the hunt has to do with Mike which she hasn’t seen since their split. Before she realizes it, she jumps in with both feet and ignores the dangers. But will the dangers ignore her? How deep will she find herself? She is such a great character and what she brings to the story just keeps me coming back. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend seeing what happens to Karina in her next crime mystery. You don’t want to miss it.

SPOOKED BY A SUSPICION by Risa Nyman – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Spooked by a SuspicionSpooked by a Suspicion by Risa Nyman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While Spooked by a Suspicion is not advertised as a sequel, it follows Swallowed by a Secret. They could be read and enjoyed independently, but both are good books, so you should just read them. Despite this book being targeted to children readers (likely middle school age), I enjoyed it as an adult. I enjoyed the first book, so I was happy to hear there was a second book, so we could see more into Rocky’s life. This book centers around a difficult issue kids may encounter, but in a humorous way. Rocky’s mom drops the bomb that she is seeing someone new, and they plan to get married. Rocky didn’t even know they were officially dating, so this was a shock to him. Shortly after the announcement, strange things start to happen. Rocky is very imaginative, and comes to the conclusion his mom’s boyfriend is the cause of these things, and takes it upon himself to stop him. These things range from serious, a sports injury, to funny, being pooped on by a bird. Poor Rocky! We are led through a series of twists and turns on his summer vacation, and it teaches kids some life lessons in an entertaining way. I love the story and Risa Nyman’s style. The characters are all very fun and realistic, and can be enjoyed by all ages.

Matt, Julia and Dan are training to get the traveling through time and space absolutely correct. While Thomas wants a much more sinister end.

Definitely worth buying, this book ends up making you think about what’s life really about. It’s a little weird but the characters are so wonderfully built up and eclectic that you feel like your in futuristic community. Rachel, the tavern owner; Charlie, and his cats; Val, and all the others. The community sounds like a run down town after everything is destroyed by companies pulling out. The description of the town by the Raven is fantastic. Kind of a bird’s eve view. It truly is a good book that you have to read. Too good to describe in words, you have to experience it. Highly recommend!!!!

Caught By Him by Tammy Mannersly

This is another great read by Mannersly. She knows how to keep her readers coming back. This is a short read, but so worth the time.

Willa is staying at her grandfather’s house to house sit. When she forgets the key to the gate she meets the neighbor. What she doesn’t realize is that he’s famous. The quote I chose for Willa is: “What’s wrong with you, Hayden? I’m fed up with you, with this. You’ve been pulling this crap for nearly two years now, claiming ownership, trying to control my life. Well, guess what? If you want to remain in my life, in any kind of capacity, then you have to cut this shit out.”

Brody is disturbed when he sees a hooded figure going towards his neighbor’s house. The only thing he didn’t know was that the hooded figure was his neighbor’s granddaughter. He falls fast and hard for her. The quote I chose for Brody is: “Look I’m not sure what Hayden told you, but Willa’s nothing like that. She’s told me about her commitment issues in the past, but it has less to do with her personality and more to do with not being true to herself and not being involved with the right person.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Potager Plot (A Backyard Farming Series, #5)Potager Plot by Vikki Walton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in A Backyard Farming Mystery Series and the first book I have read. Even though I was able to still read and enjoy the book as a standalone I feel if I had read the others it would have given me a better understanding of the characters in this story.

Anne is now taking on the job of helping people plot and design their gardens. She meets with a gardening club to share her ideas.
The club president Billie is very poorly with cancer and when she dies no one thinks anything is wrong. However Anne isn’t so sure that Billie’s death was natural. With secrets, lies and deceit in the small town could Billie’s death actually be a murder and if so who could have done it?

This is a really light hearted cosy mystery which is enjoyable to read but has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and hooked till the end. The main question is will Anne be able to untangle all these webs and finally discover the truth?

This book was shockingly realistic. I could see everything happening in my head, and I truly enjoyed reading it. I quickly became intrigued in the story itself and the characters. There was amazing chemistry between them, and the relationships felt organic. It’s hard to get the right amount of tough without being completely unlikable, but Kel did a wonderful job of making Amy a very likable—and relatable—character. 3 Stars

Forever Valentine is the sixth book in the Kirk University series by Diana Vale. It is student-teacher contemporary romance and is the sequel to Cassie and Diego’s story we read in Book #1. This is a short story, a novella size morsel- which made it a very quick and easy read.
This story picks up 12 months after the events in book one. Cassie is determined to finish her psychology degree and enjoy her university experience as much as she can- all the while traversing all the ups and downs of having a relationship with an older man who also happens to be her former university professor. Things haven’t been easy- but she doesn’t regret one minute that she and Diego have spent together. But life seems to want to test the strength of their bond- brining a few complications, drama, angsty moments, and hurdles for them to manage.
Again, as with the first book, this was an easy read- I still didn’t connect with Cassie and Diego the way I would have liked to- but I did like them more than I did in the first book, so that’s something!

Thank you, Diana Vale.

Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance)Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two hot stories in one box set! Romancing the Tropics by L.M. Mount Ford has all the lust, sex, love appeal that has you wanting more!
For instance the first story, Tequila Sunset about unyielding lust after something you know you can’t have. Cassandra has lusted after her best friend Stacey’s father David for as long as she can remember. David looks out the window noticing Cass in a barely there white bikini, has him abandoning his writer’s block to take a trip to the pool. Both knowing they shouldn’t succumb to their lust for one another can’t hold back. It’s so hot that it has you wanting more, wanting more scenes of what they are doing. Wanting a continuation of their story.
The second story, Beneath the Sheets is reuniting with your first and only love. Sarah abandoned Alex after their night together after prom. Fives years and an email later, Alex finds himself in Australia reuniting with the one who got away. Not as hot and dirty as Tequila Sunset, the passionate love they make has one lust after a love like that!

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Scarlet Princess is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison. This is my first read from either of these authors, but the cover and blurb sparked my curiosity, and as I am a sucker for a great fantasy, I quickly snatched up a copy, putting aside everything else I was reading, and dove in to follow along on the adventure.
WOW!!! This story was unexpected- in a great way! Even though it took me a chapter or two to really find a feel for the story, I quickly found myself completely engrossed in what was happening and became entirely invested in the character/s and the whole outcome of the story. I thought I knew where this story was headed- but the authors cleverly twisted things up a bit and had me clamouring to discover how things would play out- I spent a lot of the time on the edge of my seat waiting and wanting to know what happens next. And that ending!!!! OMG- I need the next book STAT!!!!
The most exciting thing here is not only have I found a new series I absolutely Flove, I have also discovered two wonderful authors who have a plethora of new (to me) books for me to explore!!!! #winning!!! Click-click-clickety-click, I can feel a book binge coming on!!!!
This is primarily a fantasy, with historical detailing, a dystopian-esque setting, wonderful world-building, drama, danger, romance, and plenty more!!! It felt to me like a more grown up, dystopian-esque version of Disney’s “Brave”. It would make a great movie or television series, too!
You will notice that I haven’t gone into any detail over the storyline, that’s because I really think that you should go into it without knowing too much, and just let the story and the authors surprise you. Trust me, if love fantasy adventure, with romance, danger, and intrigue- then you will not want to miss the opportunity to grab a copy of this book to add to your collection!
Fantastic!!
Excitedly awaiting Book #2, Tarnished Crown- It can’t come quick enough for my liking!

Thank you, Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison!

This was my first book by this author and I LOVED it. A super quick story that didn’t feel rushed or choppy. I read the last word and felt completely satisfied, except loving these characters so much I could have read on for many more pages.

The writing was awesome, had a smooth flow and I did feel transported into the story. I found myself travelling with Lys to Vegas and my heart was pounding and my anxiety was off the charts as I was right there with her.

I completely enjoyed this book, it had it all and this author did an amazing job never making it feel forced or crammed in because of the amount of pages. I love the small town and would love to revisit with more books. Will definitely be reading more from this author!

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team Series Book 2) by Kel O’Connor – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team #2)Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Connor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book really gave me everything! It gave me not just a gripping story line that basically kept me on the edge of my seat, but as well as that, it gave me a strong female lead, whom I admired very much for everything she stood for, and during book even though she was very strong willed, in the end she’s just like the rest of us, she’s only human and that comes with the whole package of contents with being human.

Amy in this novel was a strong character as I said. She had gone through some rough times in her life. She not only lost her own sister, and driven mad with revenge basically, she was separated from her family. It was a lot of heavy weighing on her heart, there was a hold that burned thru her heart, that seemed it would never be fixed, till the person who killed her dear sister was held accountable. Would she ever get the chance to get the justice she wanted and needed so badly in her life?

Thing in truth was that yes she does get that chance, Taking it may perhaps bring on more than she thought at first glance? What if a chance for true love was given to her, provided she stopped trying so hard to get the revenge she thought she so desperately needed to do. Could love fix her heart? The book brought on a lot of emotions for Amy and I literally felt them all, her pain, her happiness, her desire for revenge, the lust for love and passion she really wanted secretly, and basically to feel normal again. the book bought a lot of hard moments, but a thrill ride of action and emotions, honestly I could not put this one down, as when it seemed to be done with suspense, it started up again!

The author gave us all a really fun thrill ride, that was very fun and fast paced. I felt felt that character connection to Amy and how well the author had written her. It was a fun ride to read through this book, and I can not wait to read more by this author. Saying its really good, is an understatement, as its more than that! Pick it up yourself, and see what I am talking about! Surely, you will not be disappointed!

ALL THE FREAKING STARS!!!! OMG!!! Amy McKinley has outdone herself, AGAIN!!!!

No Way Out is the incredible first instalment in the Mafia Elite series by the supremely talented Amy McKinley. I know I keep saying this with every new release of hers, but this is definitely a new favourite for me.
It is a fantastic mafia romance/romantic suspense, with plenty of action, violence, danger, drama, mafia politics, intrigue, tension, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, revenge, and emotion.
I fell for Max and Liliana right from the beginning- they were such great characters- quite complex, fully developed individuals with depth and their own unique quirks and flaws.
I really don’t want to give too much away and spoil the story for you… But will leave you with this little tidbit. Max has an agenda that has taken a lot of time and planning to finetune before he can now, finally, let it all unfold. He has been tasked with protecting his mentor’s granddaughter, on top of his own plans to exact a little revenge and right past wrongs. He never expected that he would be so drawn to the young woman he was sent to protect. Having more in common with her than he first thought. But she is no defenceless flower, as he soon discovers- she’s one kick-butt mafia princess. But with secrets, agendas, politics, and sinister intentions- it’s not long before they are neck deep in a dangerous situation. It definitely made for an intense, suspenseful, edge of my seat read!!! Another gem to add to Ms. McKinley’s crown!
She had me at Mafia romance- the rest was all a wonderful bonus!!!! You definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story…
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!
