This wonderful author never disappoints and this book is yet another example of her fantastic writing. The lead characters Hunter and Kennedy are wonderful. Kennedy is trying hard to be the absolute best she can be in a very male dominated field all while dealing with a slimy and very sneaky boss! Hunter is focused on his football and looking toward his future career. They definitely were not looking for each other but I think that makes finding love even more special right? This book can be read as a stand alone but I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this super fun series. The side characters have me intrigued and I want to know more about them as well.

Again, as with the rest of the series, this is an action-packed YA fantasy with paranormal/supernatural/sci-fi elements, action, adventure, mystery, drama, danger, emotion, challenges, agendas, magic, secrets, family, choices, and more. This could be read as a standalone, but you would be missing out on all the other stories, character introductions, and interesting background information that will help you better appreciate this book, and the series as a whole- as well as adding to the bigger picture that is being painted. Makayla ends up where no one wants to be, The Grace Digger Academy and while there she begins to find out she has undiscovered abilities, plus some long buried family secrets. This was a quick read and an enjoyable one. The character development and storyline were well thought out and kept my attention from the beginning to the end.

“Jake” started off as more of a slow burn than I expected. Beginning felt awkward even more than just blind date awkward. The concept of the way relationship started was interesting. Set in post civil war Chicago this fun, adventurous novel is the first in this series. I have read several of the books in this series and decided after the last one that I should go back and read them in order and include the beginning of Emma’s story in that. I absolutely love this series! The characters are very well developed (even the secondary characters) and you will love, hate, laugh and cry with them. If you haven’t read this series it is so worth your time and if you have read some in this series but not in order it is so worth your time to go back and do it in order!

I got these two books because my 10 year old is a dino nerd. He reads all kinds of dinosaur books . These books have two simple stories, both revolving around an Ankylosaurus and a T-Rex. In the first story, the Ankylo, Spike wants to give a present to a Volcano which is dormant and would’nt erupt. He builds a necklace out of rocks around the Volcano, and when the volcano indeed erupts , it is the necklace which stops the lava from overflowing to the ground.
In the second story, the two dinosaurs have to escape the wild fire. When the T-Rex , Conifer is finding it hard to take three eggs in her two hands, Spike accidentally knocks down a tree by impatiently swinging his tail. The two dinosaurs escape the forest into the river on the tree.
What is not to like about these books, nothing. This book is meant for kids, and me and my son had a blast reading these books. Looking forward to more on dinosaur series from this author.

While this is the second book in the series I think I’m even more in love than I was with the first. The characters were all very well written, the story felt like it picked right up where book one left off, and the suspense and drama had me on the edge of my seat as I followed along this journey. But probably my favorite thing about this whole novel what the ending. The ending is absolutely perfect I can’t wait for book three.

I’m so happy I picked up this book to read. I’ve enjoyed several books by this author so I jumped at the chance to read the first book in the new series. A fun young adult paranormal book that includes a first year witch who finds herself at the Grave Digger Academy when her hopes were to attend better academies that were available. How will Makayla survive this low point, deal with a villain, and still learn valuable knowledge to be something more? Makayla is young and just figuring out things in life. She is challenged not only by things she is learning at the academy but also things she didn’t expect. The new environment and friends help her find her way and experience life away from family. It kind of reminded me of when I went to college and had to figure out life.

Reader’s Thoughts: Into the Light is the third installment of the Moon Harbor Series written by Kate McWilliams. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This was my first time reading a book written by McWilliams and I am forever thankful for the introduction to this series. The characters were relatable, from their chemical tension to their love story. The flirty banter was always entertaining and sucked you right in. From the moment I picked up the book, I couldn’t put it down. I was able to read this in two sittings over an entire afternoon. If you love a good romance mixed with a hint of mystery this one is for you.

This was a great 5 star read. I read this in one sitting, I didn’t want to put it down. Ellie has had a crush on Raf for years, the only problem is that he is her brother’s best friend and has always kept her at arm’s length. Raf has had feelings for Ellie for years but she is too good for him and he can’t betray the bro code. However, Ellie is starting to get under his skin and he is finding it very hard to resist her. With a twist of danger, he finally, finally gives into his feelings and shows Ellie just how he feels. Ellie is tired of Rafs push and pull games, is he for real this time?
Overall this was a great read. There were twists and turns with danger and mystery thrown in to add a great element to the story. I did have some level of frustrations with Raf and his trying to stay away from Ellie, glad he finally grew a pair and stopped worrying so much. These two were great for each other, we get some steamy scenes. The secondary characters were great and I loved the ending. Tropical Date by R. S. Jonesee, continues the Postscript Island series with the story of Marissa, the painter who is following her dream of opening her own art gallery and Weston, who happens to be Marissa’s ex, the condom company owner who is coming back home to help his mother. Will the two of them be able to rekindle an old flame while solving a Postscript island mystery?
This book was such a fun read! The characters were funny, full of wit and really entertaining. The story had an easy flow that kept you turning the pages while keeping you intrigued with the mystery and blushing from the romance.

This is a cute book for children. Stories and pictures what more could a child ask for. I love that it has many different skills that younger children can learn. It teaches them it is okay to be yourself and true to your feelings. I will be reading this to my child. I am a fan of this author for future children’s books.

This is a cute story with several important lessons embedded in it. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The cherry blossoms are always a favorite of mine. I wish this story was a tiny bit longer and answered some of the lingering questions (this the reason for the 4 star rating), but overall it was a good story. I would say first through third grade readers would enjoy this the most.

Notebook Mysteries: Emma is the first book in the Notebook Mysteries series. We meet Emma when she is 16 years old living in Chicago with her Father, older sister, and extended family. She works in the family bakery while longing for adventure. As she observes the different goings on around her she finds herself being pulled into more and more adventure; and some danger. I loved that Ms. Mullins also includes recipes from the bakery in the book. You get to learn about Emma’s unfortunate background and see her relationship with her sister and father. This is a fun and wonderful start to the Notebook Mysteries series.

Jake by Toni Denise is the first book in the Billionaire Blind Dates series. Jake is a billionaire who is tired of dating women that only date him for his money. Lauren is a woman that dislikes dating rich men as she has only found rich men that thought women should bow down to them because they have money. These two are matched when Jake and his four billionaire friends use a blind dating app. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jake and Lauren. I found them very easy to root for. I also enjoyed the friendship between Jake and his friends. The characters in the book are very well written and I look forward to reading about the other four friends. This is a book that is easy to get into and hard to put down.

I loved reading about Jake and Lauren. Their dates, as well as their “blind dating” set up was brilliant. Watching (well reading) them grow closer together was really sweet. Definitely not what I was expecting when I selected this novel. I’m even more excited about their friends and how their relationships pan out. So good!!

Always drawn to the river nearby, the heroine traverses from childhood into womanhood throughout the story. The main character is neurodivergent, and so is often viewed as a witch by those around her. Though at times, the story seems like it might meander like a river, the author manages to skillfully control both the fantasy and the historical streams of her book. Readers are able to glimpse life through the lens of a strong female character in an era when women had strict roles imposed on them. Heartache, personal growth, and forgiveness are themes of this book.
First, let me say that I purchased this book for a teacher friend of mine to add to her classroom book library. It is about a girl with a flute and that reminded me of myself because I also learned to play the flute as a young girl. And just as I was taught that hard work pays off with practice and learning, so does Moby. This is a perfect book to teach kids about not giving up no matter how hard you may want to. The book’s filled with beautiful illustrations and help bring the story to life. Not only does this teach kids to keep practicing, but to keep learning and growing as well. I highly recommend this book for kids and for adults to read to their kids.

This is the wonderful, heartwarming tale of a father and daughter who learn that even though life may be difficult and not always what you want, persistence and patience always pay off in the end. Moby is disheartened when her dad, a Marine, is called away on duty and won’t be back for her birthday. He gives her an early birthday present before he leaves, a bamboo flute. Moby struggles to learn how to play and is quickly discouraged. But she perseveres and soon learns that with practice and patience, she can do anything she puts her mind to. I love the life lessons Eeha Bhatt incorporates into their story. While this story is obviously geared towards small children, I’ve often used picture books with my high school students and this will be one I will definitely incorporate. I love the story and the illustrations are amazing. I’ve also read this story to my 6-year old and she loved the story and the pictures.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Just when I was hoping to read the best things for the Agneson Clan, I am left in a series of cliffhangers for each family member, and I am grieving for the deaths that have occurred. This amazing series takes place in the Viking Era around the year 880 and can I just say is full of history, love, war, mystery, witchcraft and above all historical lore that transports me to the Viking lands every time I pick up the book. Kara achieves rank and becomes a shieldmaiden but finds out that being a warrior is not at all what she thought it would be. Karl does battle with his ship Verdandi Smiles while at war with a greater navy. Sorven meets a young girl at the end of the book and has fallen deeply in love with her. But will all turn pout well for Sorven? Thorfinn meets up with the witches that he physically damaged and they are out for revenge. Will he survive the witches and their eight-legged monster? And Cub? What is going on with Cub? While Cub escaped slavery, what is he up to now? So many unanswered questions and so much adventure and excitement has taken place in this book. I cannot wait for the next book!!!! What about all the mythical creatures that have come to play in this book and the lore of the Vikings that is prevalent on every page?! A must read book!!!

As a teacher, I am always looking for engaging books to read to my students. It is great if it is a book that I can tie in with a lesson. This is especially true if it is a book that models a social emotional skill, such as empathy, kindness or perseverance. The more books I can show my students about these skills the happier I am. This book is the perfect book to teach about a growth mindset, perseverance, or resilience. It also would be a good book to introduce Passion Projects if your class does them. Moby’s father is in the military and he is about to be deployed. He gives her a gift before he leaves. This gift is a flute. Moby discovers that learning to play the flute will not be an easy task, rather it is something she will need to work hard at. This story is absolutely heartwarming and it has the most beautiful illustrations. I read this book to my students in Kindergarten, First Grade and Second grade. I recommend this book for all those age ranges. However, I would not limit it to those ages. I believe that all children would enjoy this book.

As a teacher, I am always looking for engaging books to read to my students. It is extra helpful if they can be cross curricular. This book definitely fits the bill. I read this book as a read aloud to my students in Kindergarten, First and Second grades. They all thoroughly enjoyed this book and it gave us many discussions. I had chosen to read this just as a fun read aloud, however, this would be a great book to read when students are talking about forms of matter, specifically water. My students had many questions about how accurate the information was and it lead to an impromptu series of experiments with ice. This could definitely be used more strategically to coincide with a unit on water / states of matter. It also is a great book just to read aloud. I would say that second / third grade readers could most likely begin to read this book independently, but that every reader is different. Any child who likes mermaids would also enjoy it! I definitely recommend it and will be using it for years to come!
