Newly pinned deputy Jolie Murdoch’s first big job as a McIntire County deputy is to locate a missing girl. But why would local bartender Xavier Hartmann go off the deep end and bludgeon a man to death?

A former marine, Xavier is barely coping with a traumatic brain injury, and he has no memory of what happened at the crime scene. He came to Eider to confront his past, not get embroiled in a murder as the number one suspect. To make matters worse, as the mystery deepens, Xavier finds himself drawn to the reluctant deputy.

As Jolie fights against mounting pressure to get to the truth, she realizes there’s more to Xavier than meets the eye. But someone is lingering on the fringes, determined to put a stop to her investigation and Xavier’s freedom. Winter Austin perpetually answers the question: “were you born in the winter?” with a flat “nope,” but believe her, there is a story behind her name.

A lifelong Mid-West gal with strong ties to the agriculture world, Winter grew up listening to the captivating stories told by relatives around a table or a campfire. As a published author, she learned her glass half-empty personality makes for a perfect suspense/thriller writer. Taking her ability to verbally spin a vivid and detailed story, Winter translated that into writing deadly romantic suspense, mysteries, and thrillers.

When she’s not slaving away at the computer, you can find Winter supporting her daughter in cattle shows, seeing her three sons off into the wide-wide world, loving on her fur babies, prodding her teacher husband, and nagging at her flock of hens to stay in the coop or the dogs will get them.

She is the author of multiple novels, with more on the way.

The Truth About Myths (The Winemakers Book 3) by Giovanna Siniscalchi – Review by Beverly Finnie

The Truth About Myths (The Winemakers #3)The Truth About Myths by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Truth About Myths is the 3rd book I’ve read in The Winemaker’s Series and it’s probably falling in 2nd best. Book 2 definitely was my favorite but book 3 is coming in a close 2nd. The author writes wonderful tales about characters dealing with the aftermath of the exile, disaster to the grape vines, their very livelihood.
Henrique is ready to leave Portugal, he has just one last thing to accomplish to make that happen. He needs the king’s signature on the deed to sell his property before being able to leave for London. However the king has other plans. He wants Henrique to escort his sister to Spain, even resorting to blackmail. Unfortunately for Henrique it’s going to be a harder task than he thought. He’s attracted & intrigued by the princess, to the point being around her is sometimes difficult. At the same time he wants to be there.
Isabel wanted to decline, but was encouraged by her brother to go to Spain. To see what’s going on within their government. “Get close and report back” type of thing. What she wasn’t expecting was the man from the garden being her escort. She will do everything to resist him but her body betrays her at times. When she learns the truth that the exiled queen’s son is returning, her anxiety picks up. This can’t be good.
Will his return have something to do with her?
How do Henrique and Isabel handle their attraction to one another?
Those questions and so many more come about throughout this book. I felt like for Isabel this was a story of self discovery, and the author displays that well.
This series is different and gets better as it goes. I encourage everyone to start with book 1, though it reads well as a standalone. I just want everyone to experience the trials and tribulations of all these characters.

Who doesn’t love a mystery that takes place at Christmas time? Eve Sawyer, journalism student, is fun character to follow – she is just nosy enough to get involved in a murder investigation. As Eve investigates a suicide, she finds that it might just be a murder. I kept the pages turning as I wanted to see what she finds out, all the way until the end. This is a get cozy on your couch with a blanket and beverage and be ready to read until the end.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a captivating and imaginative story but an author that really knows how to wield her words. There is such beautiful word building in this book that it was so easy to picture everything going on. I had a clear image in my mind that took my through the whole book.
The story is creative, complex and detailed in a way that has you hooked from the moment you start reading. I really enjoyed reading about the characters. They all had a depth that match the story perfectly. This is an author that I enjoy more and more with every book I read. They are all so detailed and intricate and I always know I am in for a treat when I pick up one of her books. This was a fantastic read and probably my favourite so far.

I kept picking it back up just dying to know what happened next! I was hooked by the first page and immediately encapsulated by the story that Drake tells! I loved the morals that Cooper includes! The pacing is also absolutely perfect! Cooper makes sure that her story is fast paced without feeling rushed! Her imagery and attention to detail is also pure gold. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Ms. Cooper in the future! I highly recommend this wonderful story!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

VANISHING DAY (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 4) by Valerie Davisson . I have absolutely loved this series and this book was no different. Its the continuing saga of Logan McKenna whose new young neighbor is brutally attacked and left for dead. The only witness to the attack is the victim’s 3 year old daughter. When the police hit a dead end in the case Logan decides she has to find out what happened and why. As Logan starts digging she realizes her neighbor isn’t who she says she is and the danger is getting really deep. Finding out Lori, the victim, is in an abusive relationship or trying to flee from the relationship makes the case even more dangerous but that has never stopped Logan before. Will Logan and Brian find out who is trying to kill Lori and why before its too late for Lori and Logan? Each of these books can be read as standalone but they are all so good I highly recommend reading them all. The relationships and messes Logan gets herself into are so good. Just be prepared that once you start this book you won’t want to put it down!

Notebook Mysteries ~ A Party to RememberNotebook Mysteries ~ A Party to Remember by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great tale from one of my favorite authors! I seriously never want this series to end. In this Christmas tale, Emma is thrust into another thrilling mystery that is full of intrigue (not to mention festive)! As per usual, the storytelling is superb and descriptions and characters are vibrant and spot-on. Each time I pick up a new installment of the Notebook Mysteries is like revisiting an old friend, and I dread the time that there are no more mysteries to solve with Emma. This book can be read as a standalone, but I of course highly recommend getting your hands on each part of the series for full enjoyment. With the holiday season fast-approaching this cozy read will put you right in the spirit!

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Alterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillAlterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This really was a trilogy of thought provoking sci-fi thrillers, which kept me gripped throughout. I loved having all three books in one collection as I could then ‘binge read’ the series! The intriguing storyline follows Gigi, Ellen and Lilly who all want to change their lives in some way and so take the drastic decision to go to Dr Kite. He has developed a mind controlling chip which the three women agree to have implanted, however although this gives them an easy and quick fix it comes with consequences. Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly were prepared to risk everything for love, health, and happiness, and Dr Kite’s novel chip implant offers them a mind controlling solution. However, Dr Kite is a secretive figure and when the city is plunged into chaos by unforeseen issues his warehouse is destroyed. It is then discovered that two of the implanted chips are defective and suddenly his plans go horribly wrong. In the aftermath of the disaster one of the woman seeks revenge for Dr Kite’s failings, but she may also have found an opportunity to save herself. I was hooked from start to finish by this original story, and was kept happily turning the pages to find out if Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly get their happily ever after. The characters and the setting were brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and I was fully immersed in the story.

This was a sweet holiday read and one that I really enjoyed. I liked the uniqueness of the storyline, it was really refreshing to read something a little bit different. I also love the front cover! It’s one of those stories that certainly gets you in the Christmas spirit! I thought Holly was really a sweet character going around collecting her Christmas cheer, it gave the story such a wonderful magical feel to it. I don’t want to give too much away but there are some really lovely moments in this story and the characters are likeable. I would definitely like to read more from this author in the future.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before I even start with this review you must read the first two books, Cruel Start and Cruel Hate before even thinking about reading this book!
So where to even start with this one, the last book ended on that intense cliff-hanger which meant I couldn’t wait to start this one and boy did it grab me and carry me off for its entirety! It so difficult to do this book justice in this review without spoiling it and I absolutely would not want to do that to any reader. The chemistry is still there between the two characters but there also this new deeper emotional journey throughout the book that really does grab you.
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end and cannot recommend the three books about this couple enough!

Cruel Hate (Hidden Valley Elite #5)Cruel Hate by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading the prequel to Aspen and Phoenix’s story and it ending in that cliff-hanger I couldn’t wait to start on their full length duet and what a first part this was. This book certainly kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through the story with so much drama and angst going on with our main characters. Although Aspen’s initial plan didn’t really work out all that well I really came to admire her integrity and how she wanted to raise her child in a completely different way to how she had been raised. Phoenix’s character also really evolved over the story and it was great to watch them both grow but that ending! I literally cannot wait to get started on the second part of their story!

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Isla Vaughn did it AGAIN in Cruel Love! This book is part of a series, and while you don’t need to read all of them to get it, you do need to read Cruel Hate and Cruel Start.
Phoenix is volatile, moody, and has a chip on his shoulder, but all that is striped from him in the accident. His family has dark secrets, many unknown to Phoenix, and will stop at nothing to ensure they stay hidden. Only after the accident does Phoenix start to put the pieces together.
Aspen is pregnant with Phoenix’s baby and is just hoping to be able to parent this baby with him. They’ve tried a fake relationship and it failed miserably, so there’s really no hope of a real relationship.
In Cruel Love, Phoenix and Aspen learn to let down their barriers despite all their past hurt, disappointment, and heartache. They overcome so much to deserve their happily ever after.
But… family drama is just heating up, so I’m anxiously awaiting Wicked Games and Wicked Ends!

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Jenique Bornman

Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In “Cruel Love” by Isla Vaughn, readers are taken on an exhilarating emotional ride from start to finish. This enemies-to-lovers, fake relationship, new adult, sports romance doesn’t hold back on the drama, passion, or heartache.

The story revolves around Aspen and Phoenix, two characters who initially couldn’t stand each other. However, fate has a way of twisting things, and their tumultuous journey takes unexpected turns. The blurb hints at the gripping premise: a devastating accident that erases Phoenix’s memory of Aspen and their child. The transformation of Phoenix from a “cruel” enemy to a kinder soul adds layers of complexity to their relationship.

Isla Vaughn expertly weaves together elements of love, loss, redemption, and sacrifice. The characters’ chemistry is palpable, and readers will find themselves rooting for their happiness, even when the odds seem insurmountable.

The novel delves into the past, unearthing buried secrets that resurface in the present, threatening to tear Aspen and Phoenix apart once again. Vaughn skillfully keeps the suspense and tension building, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.

“Cruel Love” delivers on its promises of angst and heat. The passion between Aspen and Phoenix sizzles on the pages, but it’s the emotional depth of their journey that truly captivates. The story explores the lengths one will go to for love, family, and a chance at a better future.

As the conclusion to the duet that began with “Cruel Hate,” this book ties up loose ends and provides a satisfying resolution for the characters readers have grown to care about.

In the end, “Cruel Love” by Isla Vaughn is a gripping and passionate read that will leave you breathless. If you enjoy complex characters, intense romance, and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book is well worth your time. It’s a testament to the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, a happy ending is possible.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Phoenix and Aspen have quickly become my favorite couple in the Hidden Valley Elite series. But that grandfather! What a…jem? Piece of work…ugh can’t wait to see what happens with him!

Phoenix certainly changes after the accident which is a nice twist for the most part. The details of his recovery are so believable and real. I could feel his pain. But I like to think everything happens for a reason. His accident turns things around not only for him but for those around him.
Aspen is at a loss. Phoenix isn’t himself and she doesn’t know how to deal with the new him. Does she cut and run? Should she stick around and see what happens?

I love the choices these two make when it comes down to it! I can not wait to read more!

Beautiful Dangerous (Philly Heat Series Book 4) by Becky Flade

Beautiful Dangerous is the fourth book in the Philly Heat Series and is a wonderfully written Romance Suspense that will keep you turning pages until the end. It’s a very intriguing yet intense at the same time. I’ve read other books by this author but this one is definitely my favorite yet. There are twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The characters are developed, there’s definitely chemistry and they bring the story to life. They’re raw yet relatable. These two have serious chemistry between but they both have pasts that seem to lurk. Hannah just wants her lurking stalker to be caught so she can go back to having a semi normal life. Doyle will do anything to protect her but that’s not a guarantee with the crazy stalker. This story will keep you hooked till the end. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Aspen and Phoenix are going through a tough patch in this book. They’ve been in a car accident and Phoenix is missing 5 years of his life. He doesn’t remember Aspen, nor does he remember that she’s carrying his child. They both have their struggles and an uphill battle and both have been resilient, especially Aspen. There are a lot of things that have happened to this couple over the series and you are definitely rooting for them to get their HEA. I can’t believe there are only 2 books left in this series! This author has done an amazing job with these characters. As always I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Cruel Love is Book #6 in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. OMG- I can’t get enough of this series!! This is the continuation of Aspen and Phoenix’s story which started in Cruel Start, continued in Cruel Hate, and concludes here in Cruel Love. So if you haven’t read those previous books, I highly recommend you do so you have all the important details on board before diving into this book…
After the cliffhanger ending in the previous book, I really couldn’t wait for this instalment to release. And boy, Ms. Vaughn didn’t disappoint!! This picks up right where we left off in the previous book and all the dramatic developments that entailed. Phoenix’s memory has been impacted by the accident and with things the way they are, poor Aspen is beginning to wonder what the future holds for her and their unborn baby. Gah- Ms. Vaughn loves toying with my emotions!
I know I keep saying it, but this series really does keep getting better as we go- getting more intriguing and angstier with each new addition. Ms. Vaughn outdoes herself every time.
Wicked Games is next- and I am already anticipating what Ms. Vaughn has in store for us there!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isla Vaughn!

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed Cruel Love more than Cruel Hate. The duet in the series is mind boggling. There’s so much going on, however it all works. This author beautifully ties everything together/up with a little bow. Book 6 in this series did not disappoint.
What would you do if you had a chance to start over? Meaning when getting to know someone?
Well that’s exactly what Aspen gets. After the car accident Phoenix doesn’t remember the last 5 years. He’s changed, he’s kinder and more open with her, should she take advantage? A chance to get to know her baby’s father, without all the walls that held both of them back.
Unfortunately Phoenix’s grandad plans to put a stop and end things between them. Aspen isn’t worthy and his threats and promises, bring some thoughts and decisions to make.
The drama of it all keeps you turning the page. Keeps the reader wanting more. I can’t wait for the final duet, books 7-8 on how the author ends this series.
All I can say is start from the beginning and don’t look back. It may be broken down into duets, but they are all connected. So I leave you with this, Happy Reading!!

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by M Policicchio

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dearest Author, Why do you hate me? You know the next book doesn’t come out for months and months, and (even if it is only next week, it will seem like) months? That ending truly was cruel love.

We pick up where Cruel Hate ended. Phoenix, Shane and Aspen are dealing with the aftermath of the car accident. Their world has been turned upside down in more ways than one. People Phoenix and Shane have known all their life are not who they seem to be. Phoenix struggles to find himself.

While Phoenix is on the mend, Aspen finds her community. The family that includes Cole, Damon, Riley and Skylar rallies around Aspen to support her and assist with her dream of her own business. No matter what happens with Phoenix, Aspen knows that she will always have family for her little one.

Ugh! This is so hard. There is soooo much to love about this book but I don’t want to give away its secrets. I don’t want to be that reviewer that tells way too much. Not to mention the way this one ends. This is one of my favorite series of all time. The found family bond and strong female characters rival the Elite Mafia series by another author who is constantly on my TBR List. Super! Wonderful! Fantastic! I could throw in a few more but I will wait for the next one to add to that list.

Shadow By D.M. Earl – Review by Jennifer Larson

Shadow (Devil's Handmaidens MC-Book Two)Shadow by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadow by D.M. Earl

Shadow by D.M. Earl is from Zoeys POV along with a few other members from the story line. In this specific book you will dive into Shadows mindset and her struggles from her background and childhood. This book is dark and if you’ve read Tink then you will know what to expect.

Shadow just finished up finding Hannah for Tink, and was on her way to her secret getaway where everything was going smoothly. By the next day they were called to close another circuit to better the world when things took a nasty turn.

Shadow is literally such an empowering female main character and is inspiring to all women who have been through hard times where life seems unbearable. I loved this book. The plot, the writing, the multi-character POV, it was all there and executed flawlessly. I also loved the sass and attitude that came with it all and the plot twists. I do recommend reading Tink before Shadow but it can technically be read on its own in my opinion. Overall I do think this is a great MC series and the sisterhood behind it, as you don’t see many all female clubs if at all depending on where your from.

Tink by D.M. Earl – Review by Jennifer Larson

Tink (Devil's Handmaidens MC-Book One)Tink by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tink by D.M. Earl

Tink by D.M. Earl is a MC “dark” romance about a girl whose life has taken some dark turns and unthinkable obstacles.

Tink grew up in a loving home and raised by her parents and her father’s club members known as the Intruders. She is the the little princess of the group and protected solely by these people, until one day that all changed. She did finish school, went to college, and then formed her own MC of all strong women. She works her ranch while also saving young women in the circuit. The devils handmaidens do everything they can to protect young women and children from the horrors in life and Tink manages it all with her best friend Shadow.

This story is empowering and will leave you strapped in your seat wanting to do everything you cannot to scream into your kindle/book. You will read some dark moments and the ptsd that comes with it as this story is not for the light hearted.
