Give Us Bad Boys & Billionaires by L.M. Mountford – Review by Shannen Kern

Give Us Bad Boys and BillionairesGive Us Bad Boys and Billionaires by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This isn’t my first book by this author, so I knew once I started that it would be incredibly difficult to pull myself away. This is a collection of short yet deliciously spicy romances that won’t leave you disappointed. It can seem like a lot at nearly 800 pages, but the length of each individual story is perfect for fitting in your busy afternoon. They can feel a little short, but the author does not sacrifice the plot whatsoever. I would love to see them evolve into full size books, but this will hold me over for now! Somehow even though the stories are shorter, the flow is still perfect. It doesn’t seem to have any that end abruptly or make me wonder what’s going on with omitted details. There’s something here for everyone, especially steam, so do yourself a favor and start getting lost in this tantalizing collection!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an absolutely incredible book that took me by surprise! I didn’t know what I was getting into because by the cover you may think it would be a leisurely read. You would be wrong! The synopsis let me know that I was in for a thrilling, mafia-filled ride. Although I read it before realizing it was part of a series, I think it does pretty well as a standalone. I will definitely be picking up the other books just because this author has captured my attention! I loved that the characters are well thought out and feel very relatable. The flow of the story kept me engrossed from page one to the end all in one day. If you’re looking for a romantic suspense novel that will keep you entertained, look no further!

I had read another book by this author last year, and it was such a hit with my family that I didn’t hesitate to pick this one up. I love the beautiful cover and illustrations inside as I feel they added a bit more emotion to the story, especially for my kids. We all learned more about Lunar New Year and the traditions in their culture. It sparked wonderful conversations with my 8- and 12-year-old which is always exciting! This would be wonderful to share with the young ones in your life, but I genuinely enjoyed the educational side of it. I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us because they’re quickly becoming a favorite in our household!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series quickly became my favorite, and somehow the books just keep getting better! I devoured this book in a day because I couldn’t put it down, so definitely clear your schedule when you pick it up. I thoroughly enjoy the romantic suspense genre, but books tend to lean more on the romance side than suspense. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one was more like a thriller with some steamy romance expertly mixed in. The chemistry between the characters popped off the pages, and I really enjoyed the flow of the story as well. I also feel like I’m pretty good at guessing the direction the story is heading but the author crafted so many flawless twists and turns that I couldn’t predict anything! I just finished this book and I already want to get lost in the next book. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next, don’t pass this incredible book (and series) up!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I am absolutely blown away by the journey this story took me on! The cover drew me in, and once I learned it was a paranormal romance/reverse harem, I was diving in. I’m not ashamed to admit that I neglected ALL of my responsibilities for the day as I devoured this book! The flow of the story is marvelous even though it starts a little slow. It didn’t take long to pick up the pace and find my groove as Ember goes on an incredible adventure. The characters were absolute perfection. I can’t think of one thing I would change about them as they were diverse and relatable. There are a fair number of steamy scenes throughout, but the author doesn’t rely on them to make the book. The storyline will have you invested immediately! I know I’ve only read one book by this author so far, but I am definitely headed to pick up more of their work right now. If you love paranormal/shifter why-choose romances, don’t pass this one up!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I never hesitate to pick up any work from this author because they always take me on such an unforgettable adventure! It was a phenomenal quick read for my day. I couldn’t believe how perfectly the author balanced the length of the book with the development of the plot and characters! I have read the prequel and the first book in the series, so I was ecstatic to pick this up and dive right in. I will say that it should not be read as a standalone or you will likely get quite confused with the storyline and characters. I usually have a difficult time with books that have more than two points of view, but this was an exception to the rule. It’s told from multiple points of view, and I absolutely loved it. Xenobia has such huge responsibilities while they try to make things better for the people she loves. I don’t want to give anything away, but the amount of unpredictability in this book is a major win for me! I am crossing my fingers that the author gives us more to this series. If you love dark, paranormal fantasy books, don’t pass this one up!

I’m sure reading the first books would have given me an even better experience, but even without the background, I was completely and utterly absorbed in this story. It starts out with a bang, and I was immediately invested in the characters. We were so excited to pick up another book by this author! I haven’t found anything I disliked about his books yet because he has such a way with words. Rhyming is great for kids, but I find myself bouncing along with the rhythm as well. Somehow, he created something that is part rhythmic fun and part valuable life lesson. The list of courage builders at the end was something I hadn’t seen before and made my kids add more ideas to their own courage lists! We all experience these big feelings like fear, panic, relief, and bravery, so to learn about it in a children’s book was fascinating! It should absolutely be focused on more with earlier development. The illustrations were icing on top of a delicious cake as well. I feel like I’m pretty good with predicting where a book is heading, but this is one that kept me on my toes the entire way through! Just when I thought I had it figured out, it snapped me a different way. I loved it! The romance has some steam to it but doesn’t rely on it for the base of the plot. I enjoyed getting to know the polycule and their different personalities as well as how their relationships with each other varied. I laughed out loud at a few scenes in this book which is a hard task to accomplish. There are plenty of emotions ranging from spiciness, love, angst, sadness, and more. If you like your romances on the vanilla side, this is probably not the book for you. I also truly love that the author does not rely on the steamy scenes to makeup the entire storyline.
