She’s My Rhinestone Cowgirl (My Cowboy Series) by Brooke May – Review by Shannen Kern

She's My Rhinestone Cowgirl (My Cowboy #7)She’s My Rhinestone Cowgirl by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have enjoyed several books by this author, so I picked this one up without a second thought. I probably should have paid a bit more attention to the fact that it’s the seventh book in the My Cowboy series, but I believe it did pretty great as a standalone. That being said, I will absolutely be going to the beginning of the series to start from the beginning because I definitely need more of this world! The characters are well-developed and instantly relatable. I love both Trinity and Shooter, and their chemistry is remarkable. When you have to choose between a dream career and a dream love, how do you make the right choice? I finished this book the day I started it because I couldn’t put it down. If you are a sucker for a fantastic second-chance romance with that country feel, this is the perfect book for you, without a doubt. I can’t wait to circle back and read the rest of the series!

Release (Rewind #5)Release by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an incredible anthology of short stories in part of the Rewind series! I did not read the previous books first, so I do feel that I missed a bit of the experience that the author intended. Somehow even after skipping those, the author made these characters still shine bright for me! I am absolutely going back to pick up the first four and get filled in on all of the characters and their stories. The romance contained within this book is refreshing as it breaks out of your typical ‘boy meets girl’ kind of routine. I love the inclusivity of each story and found myself fully invested in the characters right away. The author graciously included trigger warnings so that no one is caught off-guard by any of the content which I greatly appreciate. If you are looking for a fast-paced LGQBT Romance to get lost in, look no further than this magnificent read!

I dove in as soon as I got home and found myself finishing the book in the same day! This was an emotional rollercoaster which may have led me to shed some tears here and there. The author knows exactly how to pull on your heartstrings as they touch on grief and trying to be vulnerable after heartache. It is incredibly refreshing to come across a well-written clean romance as it seems quite rare. The characters are lovable, relatable, and will have you rooting for them until the very last page. I have read several books by this author and for good reason! They have a way of creating a world you can get lost in quickly, and this one is no different. We start off getting to know Chessly and Finn, and you can feel their slow burn chemistry even in the first chapter. I was immediately invested in the characters and love almost all of them. Tory makes me want to yell at the top of my lungs sometimes. Chessly is my favorite as she is independent and determined! I always love it when books are told in dual points of view as it helps me get into their minds a little bit easier. Jump in for a bit of steam, some romance, and drama to create a magnificent read for your day!

My kids and I have read a few books by this author before, so we were excited to see another one come out! Even though both of my kiddos are a little above the target audience, we all still enjoyed the story immensely. There are such colorful and eye-catching illustrations inside which definitely add a bit more to the story. Joe starts his morning spelling his name with alphabet cereal and my kids thought it was the coolest thing ever! Now they definitely want alphabet cereal. Joe is excited to go to school and learn how to read. Will he get the chance to learn on his first day? Both my kids were shocked that Joe was just walking around town by himself. Thank goodness for Bea! I highly recommend adding this to your library at home, at daycare, or at school. This is a wonderful read for young kiddos!

My kids and I absolutely adore the Porter and Midge series because with each one we find another way to connect with our furry friends. This one has become our favorite that we have found in the series because we’re a family of bakers! The story is pretty short which kept the attention of my 8-year-old. We spent a ton of time together baking treats for not only our furr-mily but for the entire neighborhood (with their human’s permission, of course). There are so many recipes inside and a little note at the end with a few guidelines to explain why we use the ingredients we do for canines. I highly recommend this for you to share with family and friends! It will surely bring some fun and love into the household with your pups having happy tummies!

I have read a couple of other books by this author that I absolutely fell in love with, so I knew I was picking this one up as soon as I came across it. They are one of the few authors that I don’t even hesitate on because their ability to expertly craft an intriguing, captivating story is absolutely astounding! I dove into this book without thinking and ended up devouring it in one day and ignoring a whole lot of chores and responsibilities. There is no lull, no stopping point, so I hope you have a few hours set aside for reading the entire thing at once! Ebony is a halfsoul who hires Lark, a searcher, to find her soulsister. It sounds endearing, but in this realm, halfsouls battle to the death where the winner becomes a full soul. I always love when a story is told from multiple points of view as it allows me to get a feel for each character a little better. Even if this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, I highly recommend picking it up because it is one of the most engrossing reads I have come across this year. I love it when you pick up a book by a new-to-you author and feel like you’ve struck gold! That’s exactly how I felt once I began reading Falling Down. This is the first book in the ROCKSTAR series and what an amazing start it has been! I thought the cover looked pretty cute, but once I read the synopsis I knew I had to give it a whirl. The author’s disclaimer had me pulling the book open in no time at all. Lucy and Jesse have a chemistry that rivals some of the best I’ve read, so experiencing their attraction within these pages was steamy! The spicy romance is written well and only adds to the story, it doesn’t carry the plot. I really enjoyed all of the characters and felt rather close to them quite quickly. If you enjoy a steamy rockstar romance, do yourself a favor and start this series off with a bang! I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store because I am all in!

I definitely didn’t squander it as I dove in immediately! This is part of the Demented Souls series which I plan on picking up some if not all of the other books now. Even though I jumped in way later in the series, I feel this book can easily be read as a standalone as well. I absolutely love a good MC story, and this author has nailed it! The way they crafted such an incredible world is astounding. There are so many wonderful characteristics of the MC genre like suspense, romance, plenty of danger and lots of protective members. I also found myself giggling at a few parts as well. Malice is a perfect fit and recently fully patched into the Demented Souls. I had picked up the first four books in the box set collection awhile back and immediately fell in love with the author’s writing style. When I saw the complete series out, I grabbed it without hesitation! We’re taken on a range of emotions as Bella goes through a divorce and begins finding herself again. She also finds herself in the new-age dating world with each book documenting the Mr. Guy she has found for the time being. This box set was incredibly steamy, but also surprisingly funny and had me laughing out loud multiple times. I really enjoyed that the men she met were completely different from each other because a lot of romance books find the female character stuck between two very similar guys. My favorites were Mr. Kinky and Mr. Almost Perfect, although I truly did enjoy each and every one of them. You’ll find yourself invested in Bella as she makes you feel each emotion, crying from heartache and laughing at her quick wit. I had such fun finally getting to read the entire collection. The Crown of Stones Trilogy Box Set (The Crown of Stones Series) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Shannen Kern

The Crown of Stones Complete TrilogyThe Crown of Stones Complete Trilogy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This trilogy is absolutely fascinating and will be one of your best reads of the year! With the action, drama, and fantasy, there isn’t anything the author left out.

Ian Troy wakes up not only wondering where he is but WHO he is. As his memory slowly seeps in with bits and pieces of what has happened, he questions what kind of person he really is. His purpose is to fix the Crown of Stones, but what he uncovers may be more than he can handle. Will he be able to successfully repair this and heal what has transpired amongst his people or will he be rendered useless?

I think C.L. Schneider created an absolutely stunning realm in this series. While I am so sad to see this series coming to an end, Magic-Borne is a dazzling read! This has been my favorite fantasy series in such a long time. C.L. Schneider has an incredible way of wrapping you in their world and making you feel at one with each character. She is one of the authors that I follow very closely so I don’t miss anything! Ian has been through the ringer, and this is the continuation of his fight. The amount of action, magic, romance, and endurance that you can feel which means you’ll be right there alongside the characters the whole way. Be sure to start from the beginning of the series because this is a very detailed story with amazing world building and in-depth characters. I highly recommend this entire series because it is just mind-blowingly epic!

Not to mention that you’ll be extremely addicted after the first few pages. The cover is gorgeous and made me start reading before I even knew what it was about. Once I opened this book, I was transported to a hauntingly dystopian world where an earthquake devastates our main character’s hometown. Selene is, in a word, legendary. She is independent, tough, and overall, an admirable individual. The amount of time spent developing these characters is obvious as they certainly seem as real as the person sitting right next to me.
