This book is part of the Courage Tales series, but you can definitely read them as standalones without a problem. My kiddos and I fell in love with this book immediately as we learned about Cam and his foster family. The illustrations are impeccable and really added another layer to the story. We all thoroughly enjoyed the way the conversation bubbles were created. It made us feel more like we were part of the story instead of just reading paragraphs of ‘he said, she said’ kind of narrative. The story flows wonderfully and has some truly great life lessons around being compassionate and not giving up just because you have failed. The foster family inclusion sparked great conversations in our household which made me realize just how important it is to cover in children’s books. I think this would make a marvelous addition to a library, a daycare, and even your home. I highly recommend picking it up and sharing it with the younger ones in your life.
