This is the first book I have read by Lane Cohen, and I have to say that I loved every minute of it! I thoroughly enjoy discovering a new author that can make you forget about the real world and take you on a wonderful journey.

Borrowed Time takes you on an adventure through time and has a sci-fi feel as it is related to the 1960’s The Time Machine. It is an interesting and relating read because I think everyone wonders what it would be like to time travel. The places you could see, the people you could meet, and the endless possibilities for changing your actions and your life! Will our characters’ dreams come true, or will they alter history forever?

I surely hope this is the start of a series, but even if it isn’t, I’ll be picking up more from this author. You’ll love to be swept away into this lovely time-traveling story.

This is the first book I have read by R. Weir and to say I’m amazed is an understatement. Fallen Star is the second book in the series, but I happened to pick this one up first. Even without reading the previous book I was blown away. I’m headed to pick up The Divine Devils to really absorb the full storyline.

Megan Getz is a well-known actress that hires the Divine Devils to help her with a precarious blackmail situation. Hunter Divine and his Devils will stop at nothing to help uncover the shadows of murder, drugs, and corruption in Reno. Will they be able to help Megan, or will they just make the situation worse?

Every time I tried to put this book down, I found myself picking it right back up. I highly recommend Fallen Star and can’t wait to see what happens next in the series!

It took me a little bit to get into the groove of the story, but once I did, I was hooked. This is the first book I’ve read by Jim Shomos and I absolutely loved it!

This story centers around Robbie, Annie, and Cat. They are intertwined in an interesting manner as they navigate through the music industry, which is not kind to anyone. Robbie is a manager trying to make it big, Cat is a volunteer that is drained beyond comprehension, and Annie is a single mother just trying to make it through. Robbie is also in charge of a songwriting contest that Annie and Cat are involved in. All three have their own drama but try to help each other through it. Will they make it unscathed, or will the music industry swallow them all whole?

There are some parts of this book, if not the entire thing, that will stick with you long after you read it. Give this entertaining and curious book a chance, you won’t regret it!

What a magical and adventurous book for the first in the series! I’m not sure how book 2, The Veil of Corruption, could get any better, but I am sure sticking around to find out. I lost quite a bit of sleep getting lost in this story, but I’m fine with it. Good books are worth staying up late for!

Our main character is Wilf Gilvary, who is a teenage wizard. He just wants to be a normal teenager and is not in favor of using his magic in pursuit of that normalcy. Once his friend catches the virus, his hand is forced into learning and using his magical abilities. The problem is that magic isn’t easy to pick up. Will he be able to save his friend, or will his fears impede his ability to learn it quick enough?

I truly loved this original YA fantasy. I am excited to see what the rest of the series brings. Don’t hesitate to pick it up now so you can binge the entire series like I’m about to!

Scott Warren won a loyal reader in me from this book! I thought from a glance at the cover that I would enjoy it, but I never expected that I would have loved it so much. This Sci-Fi read is full of action in every chapter and the world building is remarkable!

Rande ‘Vandal’ VanDelle is our main character, and he is in for more than he bargained for. He works as a veteran tank mechanic until he’s attacked while he works on a tank. There is nothing scarier than a literal trial by fire as he must learn how to operate and fight these tanks to save his life. Will he be able to pick up enough to scrape by, or will Vandal be overthrown?

The story felt so real with the author’s incredibly detailed depiction of each scene. I am eagerly awaiting the second book in this series as well as picking up others by this author. I highly recommend you pick this up, you won’t be disappointed!

I hadn’t read anything by this author yet, but this first book in The Freemasons Series is a fantastic start! It hit me hard and pulled at my emotions throughout the story.

Ava decides that she wants a divorce because it’s time to move on. She hasn’t lived in the same house as Cole for six months and there’s no use in prolonging the inevitable. But when she presents her want for a divorce to him, he tells her no. Taken aback, she hears Cole out and agrees to his terms to work together for one last event. Spending so much time together brings many emotions to the surface for both of them. Will it bring them closer together or drive a wedge even further between them?

I have to say that the flow of this story is wonderful. I was drawn in from the beginning and constantly wondered will they or won’t they? Since reading this, I have been adding books by Nicole Flockton to my TBR list. I can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series!

I am pretty (read: absolutely) picky about sequels when it comes to series that I like, and I’m excited to say that Lab Spill is even better than The Cool Thing. I still loved reading the first in the series of course, but this one is a gamechanger.

We are right back in the middle of the mutants in the Waydowns of our favorite starship. Poor RL and Jayderay are still kind of exploring their feelings, but also very aware that the medieval suit causing a ruckus in RL’s house. What or who is coming up from the Waydowns?

I liked that we get to explore more inside the starship this time. I highly recommend this book especially if you love sci-fi, dark humor, and general weirdness. You won’t find another read like this and you’ll be clamoring for the next from this author just like I am!

An Inheritance To Die For hooked me from the first page and I dove into the rest with no hesitation. I love Judy Moore’s books and her writing is just marvelous every single time.

Beck owns a bookstore in Manatee Beach, Florida, but things are about to get more interesting than she could have imagined. Her old, spoiled college roommate calls her to ask for help because she suspects her father has been killed. Beck doesn’t exactly want to help and put up with incessant demands, but she feels solving mysteries is her purpose. Will Beck be able to bring solace to the victim’s daughter, or will she uncover that nothing suspicious happened at all?

This cozy mystery will have you curled up forgetting about everything you’re supposed to be doing. I highly recommend this 4th book in the Cozy Mysteries series, it’s totally worth it!

How this is the first book I’ve read by this author I’m not sure, but it is far from the last! I fell in love with the flow of the story and was swept away quickly with the twists and turns throughout.

Lottie is our main character living in the early 1900’s and does accept the societal standards that are placed on women in her time. She feels relatable as she indulges in what she wants to do instead of what others think she should do. Although she likes her unique independence, she also holds a position as a legal clerk and works on a trial that will change her life. Will people succeed in blackmailing Lottie, bending her to their will, or will she stand her ground for what she believes is right no matter what?

I couldn’t put this down! I appreciate the information about the characters at the end of the book that helped me keep everything straight while I soaked it all in. I love mysteries and this has that and more. K.R. Mullins has quickly become an author I will look for in the future. You won’t regret picking this up, especially if you like historical events and true crime!

This author is new to me, but I am pleasantly surprised by his whimsical writing. It didn’t take but a page to get into this book and that in and of itself is a difficult feat.

Ice Dance starts out focused on Hassan who is playing the waiting game outside of his family’s house on holiday, weighing his options of not going or just sucking it up and putting on a somewhat happy face. He is creative and not exactly what he “should” be in this world. Once Yasmine enters his life, he is smitten and wants to know more about her…but maybe more than he bargained for. Will they survive this magical world filled with danger, or are they in over their heads?

This was such a fun read for me! It made me gasp and giggle throughout the story. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to see what the author is up to next.

This is my first book by this author and what a starting point! River Witch is mystical, incredible, and completely engrossing from beginning to end. I love anything with witchy vibes and I’m beyond happy that I found this book.

Hester likes to talk to the river, Sabrina, and the river whispers back to her. As an 8-year-old, that doesn’t seem unnatural because kids have active imaginations. She meets Aaron, a gentleman who also talks to the river, and tells her the names and purposes of the plants around them. Hester’s mom does not approve of her daughter behaving like a witch and continues to try and mold her to a what a good wife should be. Hester refuses to accept this and looks to the river for guidance even as she grows older.

I am already looking up other books by Cheryl Burman because River Witch was marvelous and enchanting. I highly recommend picking this up and getting lost in the vivid imagery and intricately woven details that create this extraordinary story!

This is the first book in the Space Force Rejects Series and wow! What a start! It’s a relatively short read but this is not one you want to pass up on. With a paranormal romance and sci-fi mix, this story really steps up the game of the genre.

Ravenna is a strong female lead who answers to no one. She has found the true love of her life but when tragedy strikes, everything she knew abruptly changes. Dravos has plans to avoid prison at all costs, yet the mission turns into a life-changing moment when he finds his fated mate…who is in love with someone else. With everything turning against them, will they be able to team up and save each other, or will it all unravel before their eyes?

I love both science fiction and paranormal romance, so this was a home run for me. I am excited to see what the rest of the series brings. Pick this up for a quick peek into the beginning of this amazing world!

This is the first book in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy, and it grabbed my attention from the beginning. A cute but dramatic who-will-she-choose story that will have you second-guessing yourself with every new piece of information.

Mavis and Joshua were high school sweethearts that felt their love was once in a lifetime. But when Mavis ended up pregnant, she kept it a secret from Josh and ran away to make sure he didn’t throw away his promising future for her. She confided in Josh’s twin brother, Austin, but things did not stay platonic as they crossed a boundary that had dire consequences. After many years of the twins being in her past, how will she overcome this love triangle without breaking hearts?

I enjoyed the flow of the story and had a hard time predicting what would happen next! I recommend picking this up for anyone who loves romances and love triangles.

This is such an incredible read and an astonishing first book in The Serrulata Saga! I definitely forwent sleep because I could not put it down, and though it is not a quick read, it is worth every waking moment. The flow of this entire story was flawless.

Leora of Mae has lived with her adoptive family since she was a baby, and they aren’t super thrilled to have her. She draws much unwanted attention because unlike her adopted family and the rest of the village, she is a Xanthi. Xanthi innately posses a kind of magical ability. Upon finding out her mom wants to sell her into servantry, she runs away and meets Roland. They develop a close bond and also run into Aurora and Leopold, who have a good deal of drama and untold truths of their own.

Gathering of the Four is my first book from this author and I am clamoring for more. I am taken aback by how much I loved this book. I highly recommend it to anyone!!

I am absolutely blown away by the stunning writing of Jay Veloso Batista!! I felt completely immersed into this world and clamoring for more when it was over.

The Agneson clan goes through many a different battle throughout this amazing journey. Kara refuses an arranged marriage and wants to fulfill her destiny of being a warrior. She knows she can prove herself, but will it live up to her dreams? Cub and Thornfinn have their own action adventures and I cannot wait until the next book in this series because I need answers! This author does such an incredible job creating this world and then giving you no choice but to delve right into it. You’ll be so glad you picked up this 4th book as well as the entire Forerunner series!

This was a magnificent kid’s book! I say kid’s book, but really, I mean this is just a wonderful book. The lessons that are taught are invaluable to everyone!

Moby doesn’t like saying goodbye to her father, but he is a U.S. Marine and his duty calls. He gives her an early birthday present before he leaves, and she is delighted to learn that it is a bamboo flute! Between school and this flute, she is going to learn a few lessons that will help her the rest of her life.

This is a short but awe-inspiring read. Pick this up for yourself as a cute story or share with the children in your life. My 6- and 10-year-old absolutely loved it!

Into the Light is such a sweet and forbidden romance! But don’t be fooled because it has plenty of action, both steamy and suspenseful! I love Ellie and Rafael’s story with all the twists and turns.

Ellie is an incredibly hard worker, and she refuses to let herself be egotistical about her business doing well. She knows that one wrong move can make all the difference and end her dream job. When she isn’t thinking about work, she is daydreaming about her long-time crush, Rafael. Raf is also her brother’s best friend who sees her as a little sister. Except he doesn’t. Rafael is finally tempting fate with telling Ellie how he feels about her, but he fears his past catching up to him. In his eyes he’s still a no-good danger, and he refuses to let anyone, especially Ellie, get hurt because of him. Will they live happily ever after, or will they take their undying love to their graves?

There is so much to love about this book, and I am soon going to read it again! The suspense had me gripping the book throughout the entire story! It caught me off guard multiple times. I enjoyed the steamy scenes as well as Kate McWilliams knows how to write romance without seeming cliché. You don’t want to miss this!

As a lover of everything apocalyptic/dystopian, I grabbed this anthology pretty quickly. Every single one of these stories is great and I highly recommend picking this up. As a bonus, all of the proceeds are going to veterans and first responders, you just can’t beat that.

It was difficult to pick a favorite since all of these were amazing, but Courtney Konstantin’s was fantastic!! From the moment I opened to her page of “Babysitter of the Apocalypse,” I was floored. Non-stop action throughout the whole story and I was racing to read faster just to find out what happened next. My heart can’t take any more suspense for a bit as these got to me! It was wonderful to see the absolute perseverance of the characters and how they worked together to pull through no matter the cost. I cannot recommend this anthology enough, pick it up and catch the thrill ride in each story!

This is a quick mystery sure to steal your attention from other things you should be doing. I loved that it is a mystery but also stays lighthearted, never getting too dark.

Ellie hosts a rescue cat show instead of the pompous, breed-restricted cat shows that are normally presented. She wants to help her lovely kitties find a home, and thanks to a previous friendly customer she may have a chance to do that while showing them off. Before all the fun starts, Ellie stumbles upon a dead body. Can she help find homes for her rescues while trying to solve this murder or will one cancel the other out?

I never expected to read a book about kittens and murder, but what a wonderful mashup! You’ll be able to sit and soak this up within a day very easily. Pick it up and kick back to see what Ellie and her cats get up to.

We’ve always been told that you can’t be too careful with your wishes. But how many of us have actually had to learn the lesson, especially when you’re in a dire situation? This book contains everything you want in a YA paranormal fantasy, and you can tell this author is one to watch.

Taking a ring from a strange looking man doesn’t seem like a bad idea when you’re a young teenager, but Bax changed his life when he just that. Now he will have to decipher what’s real versus what’s imagination which is no easy task with djinn against you. Will he be strong enough to resist the powerful djinn that appeals to him, or will he give in to temptation no matter the cost? With magic, mythology, murder, and tough lessons, this book was impossible to put down. I’m a huge fan of the YA genre and highly recommend From Brick & Darkness!

This thriller was a jaw-dropping adventure that never let up throughout the entire book. I can’t believe I read through this so quickly, but that’s what happens when you forgo sleep to reach the end. I am absolutely thrilled that this is going to be a series!

As you stare down two different timelines throughout the book, the author does an amazing job weaving the two together with such intricate yet seamless detail. Nick is finally taking his wife to Venice, her dream trip, not long after he is injured. During their trip, a painting seemingly reaches out to him and the voice he hears is soul-stirring. Julia is terribly worried about her husband, but Nick believes that the voice is his love from a past life. Will he be able to serve what he believes is justice for the past souls or will his injury prove too much for his current wife to take?

Rob Samborn has released such a brilliant start to the Painted Soul Series! I am already pre-ordering the second book now. You won’t regret this elaborate time-travel experience.

I feel like I was transported back to the 60’s to Hawaii, where the author describes in the most gorgeous detail. I have a major impulse to hop on a plane now. You may as well grab the box set because once you read the first one, you’ll want to devour them all!

Book #1, Try Easy describes the complication of a love triangle on vacation, which definitely sounds like a double-edged sword. What could go wrong if it only happens on a trip? The obvious and palpable chemistry between Lou and Keoni is irresistible. Will Lou remain faithful or is the attraction just too strong?
Book #2, Try Me goes into the tragically beautiful story between Declan and Pearl. On the surface everything looks as it should but hiding underneath are the ever-evolving feelings that Declan shouldn’t have. This is supposed to be a fake relationship, just for show, so why are these emotions getting stronger? Another couple with amazing chemistry, you’ll breeze right through this book.
Book #3, Try Right. When Henry sets eyes on Claudia, a breathtaking movie star, he knows he’ll do whatever it takes to be close to her…even if that means helping her rekindle a lost flame. Will he be able to resist his own feelings and help Claudia follow her heart?

I connected with each character so easily which can be such a difficult thing to do, especially with an entire box set. I’m so glad I picked these up and can’t wait to read more from Jill Brashear!

This is a very quick read, but it is worth every word! It is a horror comedy and I can’t think of a more fitting genre. Maria DeBlassie will have you hooked from the very first page to the very last.

Our main character is on a date with a dead guy. Literally. She’s hoping that maybe this one will work out and have some semblance of a brain. Maybe a spark or two to help keep his lifeless body warm. But just like dating the living, something is just missing…besides his pulse. It is easy to correlate the zombie dating life with our current situations. A woman must be careful in both worlds. Can our main living lady find someone that makes her heartbeat faster or will she be destined to see the end of the world alone?

Who knew dating would be such a riveting story during the zombie apocalypse? I love Maria’s books and this one is no different. She nailed it again on a topic that never even crossed my mind but surely won’t leave it anytime soon. You know you’ve got the time for this short story so pick it up! You won’t be disappointed.

This is my first book from Lynda Filler and I absolutely love it. She pours her whole heart and soul onto every page. I guarantee I will be picking up not only other memoirs of hers, but also the fiction books she spoke about!

Lynda starts with a brief history of her life as a military brat and how it gave her a lifelong philosophy of starting over when things get tough. She touches on her work life and the serendipitous decision to retire. Lynda goes over the physical effects of her anxiety and other emotions which I think go overlooked more often than not. She is heart-wrenchingly honest about her endeavors and experiences. I feel like I know her so well after just one book!

I am not typically a fan of memoirs in general, but Lynda’s writing has a way of reeling you in and making you feel like family. Her positivity throughout is just contagious. I highly recommend this book!

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Scars is the second installment in The Crown of Stones trilogy and it is amazing! With the action, drama, and fantasy, there isn’t anything the author left out.

Ian Troy wakes up not only wondering where he is but WHO he is. As his memory slowly seeps in with bits and pieces of what has happened, he questions what kind of person he really is. His purpose is to fix the Crown of Stones, but what he uncovers may be more than he can handle. Will he be able to successfully repair this and heal what has transpired amongst his people or will he be rendered useless?

I think C.L. Schneider created an absolutely stunning realm in this series. I cannot wait to grab the last installment of this trilogy to see where we end up. This is one of the best fantasy books I have read this year!

It took me a bit to get into this book, but I enjoyed the supernatural/fantasy mix. It is a very detailed and thorough world. This follows Kayda and Harlow’s stories that are full of drama, friendship, and adventure. Some of my very favorite parts involve the sword, quite a few of them made me chuckle. I enjoyed how expansive the world is and always love dual points of view. If you are into the paranormal fantasy genre, this is the one for you!

This was a very rare read that has me completely engaged from page one. This was the first book I had read from this author, but it is far from the last.

When Angie Taylor went on Spring Break with her 3 best friends, she never imagined it would end this way. Her friends were murdered, and Angie was able to just barely escape, but not without consequences. The police think Angie murdered her friends and she is shocked to her core, unable to speak on her innocence. A member of FBI, Brenda Reynolds, shows up to help figure out what’s going on. Will anyone be able to help Angie speak her truth or will she take it to her grave?

I read this book in one sitting! I really loved the relationship between the characters and the mystery throughout the book. Mark Nolan truly knocked it out of the park. I can’t wait to pick up more from him!

This was a wonderful read that was full of suspense! I kept trying to read super fast to see what happens next.

Logan is starting her new job at the Cascades Raptor Center working with the lead vet, Evka. She is fascinated by the fierce predatory nature of the hawks, owls, and eagles, but also how caring and compassionate Evka is towards the birds. Everything changes when Logan stumbles upon a dead body at the Center and can’t shake the feeling that it’s actually a murder. Unfortunately Logan can’t just ignore her gut instincts and the murderer decides she needs to be silenced. Will she be able to help crack the case or will she end up with the same fate?

I loved the amount of suspense and mystery throughout this book. I had NO idea what direction was up and there were so many twists that kept me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend In Plain Sight!

I came to the bittersweet end of this beautiful trilogy and loved everything about it. I am sad that we won’t get to hear more about Lance, Imani, and Melody, but that is the sign of a great story – when you never want it to end.

While focused mainly on Imani, we still get to see how Melody and Lance are doing in their lives and how their friendship evolves. Imani is newly married and loving life when she endures a life-changing tragedy. Lance has been MIA for quite awhile and is thinking about being part of the Three Musketeers gain, but can he deal with the strife? Melody is always the peacekeeper in the group, but can she be that way forever or will she start rocking the boat?

The characters feel incredibly real, and I am sad to be at the end of this trilogy. I will continue to pick up K.R. Raye’s books solely from the amazing writing from this series. You won’t regret reading these so go on and pick them up!
