Master Calabrea (Masters of the Consulate Book 6) by Sylvia Black – Review by Shannon Fowler

Master Calabrea: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 6)Master Calabrea: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Here’s a vampire story with not much graphic vampire action. Some romance and angst, lots of action and adventure. And for me, lots of questions.

This is book six! in this series. Yes 6! There were times when I knew there was more to the situation, characters that had a past, something lingering. This story ends in a cliff hanger so there’s more coming, which is a good thing. I look forward to reading the first 6 stories to see why the Masters are chasing Isala, who or what are the Descallia, who are the syndicate and why do they seem to be the “elders” but also the troublemakers? I look forward to reading the next story too, so I can find out what happens with Tansia, she has things going on and discoveries happening but there is more for her!

The writing is strong, and I can tell this series is good. I definitely advise reading this series in order.

Savage Start (Hidden Valley Elite Prequel) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Shannon Fowler

Savage Start: A High School Bully Romance: Hidden Valley Elite PrequelSavage Start: A High School Bully Romance: Hidden Valley Elite Prequel by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Here is a quick read. A new series from a new to me author. It is supposed to be an enemies to lovers, high school bullying type of romance. I can feel the connection between Riley and Cole. However, this prequel begins with Riley and her mother.

Riley lives with her mom and we get the feeling that life has not been fair or easy for these two. They have a life of petty crime, and it seems it is mostly stealing and overall being dishonest. However, this is left to readers’ discretion as nothing was really given away, more of a teaser for this part of the story.

Riley and her mother have a different place to live yearly or more often, and it appears they are on the run from dear ol’ dad who sounds like he would be vicious and violent. Again, just a tease of this situation so the reader is left to wonder and speculate.

Cole is the all-American boy next door, Mr. Popularity at school. He goes to high school with his cousins and his brother. On the outside he has it all. Especially money. But even having money causes and creates problems. Money doesn’t buy love. Some even believe money can’t buy happiness. I guess it depends on what makes you happy. Cole’s parents are not happy. Is money the root of their problems? Doesn’t seem like it. Implications that dad is having an affair, implications that mom may have mental issues. Again, just a tease of this situation as well.

This story is a prequel that ends in a cliff hanger and looks to what will be a good series. Looking forward to reading more and discovering just what is going on.

StoryTeller's Tale: Wretched Soulz MCStoryTeller’s Tale: Wretched Soulz MC by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is fun, scary and maybe a little too realistic. Readers may dream of living in the books they read but the reality is life is tough and not some fairy tale. This author though, tells Storyteller’s tale as a real-life story and sucks the reader right in.

Storyteller is part of the Wretched Souls MC. Their name should tell you enough about them. Their looks, big bad bikers, should tell you more. But it’s what underneath with these men that matter.

Storyteller loves to tell tales. While his stories are often just a replay of what has already happened, he has a way with words. A charisma when telling stories. When he finds an abandoned book, he thinks luck is on his side. Until he decides to return it to the rightful owner.

Storyteller’s choices turn this story into something more. It is the more that brings everything together in Storyteller’s life.

This is just one story in a series of many. Each story is a stand-alone so you can enjoy this author and all that comes with an MC.

Throwing the Curve (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Shannon Fowler

Throwing the CurveThrowing the Curve by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We begin this story with Peyton who is meeting the team because she is dating one of the players. And boy does he turn out to be a player. Just not the type of player Peyton wants to be with. When it rains it pours, bad things happen in threes, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Peyton is living this way. She just wants to be happy and helping the kids at her center is what makes her heart the happiest. But getting the local baseball team to volunteer is a dream come true.

The baseball team includes Ryan. Ryan is Kendall’s brother. We met Kendall in Book 1. (Everything to Me). I love this story so much more than book 1. By chapter 3 I was already loving it! These characters are funny, feisty and sassy. Again, this author throws a curve for her characters. And we get to enjoy the game!

Another homerun by this author. Looking forward to who’s up next!

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 1)Everything to Me by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is about Pete and Kendall. What starts out as a typical “can’t love or even lust after my best friend’s little sister and I love my brother’s best friend” type of story turns out to be pretty good. This author gives these characters a fun and flirty life with a baseball twist. Super cute and sweet.

I loved how the author told their back story without having actual flashbacks so the story continued to flow. There’s sexy time so this book is not for kids or easily offended readers. This story is a quick read and has a HEA. And the fact that there are secondary characters is even better. Nothing better than more stories to read by an author who knows how to write.

Would recommend this story and looking forward to who’s up to bat next!

Cute informative children’s story about bees. Pictures are fitting for the story. If I had younger children, I would surely read this to them.

This author writes the cutest most entertaining children’s books. There is even a fun craft at the end to further capture a child’s interest in nature and learning. Teachers and parents should discover this book and in turn a love for bees.

Underboss's Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2)Underboss’s Retaliation by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dominic and Emilia are not supposed to be together, members of competing crime families. But plans change and lives rearranged. There is no way there won’t be blow back if they are ever found out.

This is book 2 in this series but can totally be read as a stand-alone. There are references to other family members from book one but not enough that the reader would have unanswered questions. Do you want to read the first book? Of course. No reason at all not to read this authors book. Period.

Unable to put this book down I could have easily finished it in one day. But something about my family needing me and having to go to work always interrupts my reading time.

The Larussios are an Italian Crime family, their enemies are the De Rosas. When one family believes they have been insulted or crossed, there will be a bloodbath in return. This story has no shortage of anger, blood and violence. Luckily though it also has a good share of sexy times and alpha protection.

This book is not recommended for sensitive readers or those under 18 years old. But definitely for those readers looking for excitement and a wild ride.

The Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Shannon Fowler

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, what can I tell you about Savage Collision which is book 1 in this collection?! I can tell you that there are secrets and information being withheld for the purest of reasons. I can tell you this story will break your heart just a little and very nicely put it back together again. I can tell you this author can write a really good story! This story had me laughing, crying, and even panting! These two are super-hot together, but as with all good things, this too will end, right? With the secrets they each hide and the danger lurking around, can Danika and Savage really be it for each other? I, for one, have always said communication is the key to everything, this author has proven me wrong with this story. Some things really are on a need-to-know basis. I love being wrong, this time.

Book 2 in this collection is Tortured Skye and is about Savage’s little sister Skye, and Savage’s best friend Gabe. And even though Skye is all grown up, Savage is still an overprotective big brother. Gabe is Savage’s best friend, actually raised more like brothers. Skye and Gabe should be off limits to each other but you really can’t help who you lust after…or is it really love? Skye is determined to have Gabe. She’s loved him for as long as she can remember, even when he only thought of her as a little sister. Gabe is determined to hide his feelings for Skye. He feels like he will just drag her down with his war time nightmares, crazy father and with her being like a little sister to him. But hang on to your hats, there’s a hurricane a-coming! Not only the hurricane of feelings but the actual weather system itself. When things seem to go wrong what can make it right again? How about a little sex?!? The sex between these two is super-hot, which seems to be the way with the Hawke family. But they also ground each other, making everything feel right. And then there’s a little more unexpected crazy thrown in and maybe being together isn’t so bad. But then there’s Savage. His name is Savage for a reason!

Book one is Savage Collision. Book two is Tortured Skye. Book 3 is Stone Sober. This is my favorite story line so far but I am still #TeamSavage! I really loved this story and I still love the Hawke family! This book was easy to read with lines and thoughts as simple as: “Maybe in another world, another life, another time, things could be different.” Sounds like the same old story but this author is able to kick it up more than just a notch, she kicks it in high gear. This story is hot! Exciting! And oh my! those “large black lacquered wardrobes” and all the things they held inside! No wonder Nora was feeling a little confused.

Then comes Building Storm which is book 4. Storm is Savage’s other sister. And this is her story. Storm is suffering one of the biggest losses a person can suffer. How can she continue being a mom, a sister, even alive at all. What could possibly make breathing easier? Is mindless sex really the answer? Well, it couldn’t hurt to try. Enter Landon. At a sex party no less. Their eyes meet across a crowded room…well yeah that happened. But this connection is so much more. They both feel it but the timing is all wrong. Can these two overcome their pasts to enjoy their present and build a future, either alone or together? Another story by this author that is oh so hot, not safe for work and must be read in order.

This author’s stories never fail when it comes to making the characters ache and yearn for each other. Her stories never fail at making the reader sigh or want to continue reading. I love how these main characters, Caroline and Saint, have been watching each other, both thinking the other is out of their league and unattainable. I love when they finally realize their feelings. But of course, their story isn’t just as simple as that. There has to be a “bad guy” who tries to mess everything up.

The last story in this series is Steele Resolve. This story, in fact I think this whole series, proves my point of you can’t help who you love and I love that. In the stories that I read and in real life. Byron is part of the Hawke family, they trust him, they love him. Luca aka Steele not so much. When these two get together the pages sizzle and burn!! Wow! Trust and love are two key elements for happiness. But throw in a little bad blood and some misunderstandings and you have yourself a pretty good story!

The Hawke Family collection is one collection you do not want to miss! And to think there is a second generation on its way!!

Well holy hotness and lots of sex. Here’s a short story to introduce the reader to the next generation of Hawkes! The first generation of Hawkes are pretty dang hot too., so this next generation has a lot to live up to. After reading Night Hawke, so far so good!

Isaac is a Hawke, a second-generation Hawke. He has a lot on his plate and a lot to live up to. Did I say he was a Hawke? He graduated law school and now it’s time to be a grown up. Isaac decides that just one night of being care free won’t hurt anyone or cause any problems. Little did he know that even when there is no plan, plans change.

This story is hot times 1000! This author’s way with steam makes my kindle melt! Completely worth the time to read. Can’t wait to read what comes next for sexy Isaac!

Thief (Popov Bratva #4)Thief by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh la la! This book is my favorite so far! Thief is the 4th book in this series but the second one I have read! All the books are intertwined but can easily be read in any order. Personally, I think I would start with book 1 (next to be read!!) Each book references other family members and situations and while it doesn’t take away from the current main characters, I bet the story would be better (if possible) knowing everyone’s story to date. Leah and Dom are the main characters in Thief and their meeting is a little unconventional and exciting and funny.

Dom is known as the Family’s car thief; his job is the last of the illegal business the Family has going. Dom knows he needs to find something else to do as he is feeling something is missing.

Leah is a singer/performer and the center of attention. Sometimes the wrong attention. Leah just wants to be happy, safe and seen for herself, not for her family connections.

This story includes some bad guys and some really, really bad guys. This author creates a world in which the reader can escape to for an exciting adventure. Looking forward to the rest of the stories for this family.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Shannon Fowler

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My first book by this author and what a great story. Adrik is a beast in all the ways he needs to be. He looks like a beast, he fights like a beast, he works like a beast and he loves like a beast! However, the one he loves doesn’t know he even exists. Interesting twist is she does see him. Annika is the Bratva princess he is ordered to protect. He has been watching her for a long time and when a real beast closes in on the princess, Adrik has to bring out his inner beast to protect and save her.

This is book 5 in the series and includes may other characters that may already have their own story written. I am definitely going back to read the others as this series/family is intriguing and exciting. I enjoyed both of these main characters and all their “flaws” which really are just personal characteristics. I am also glad to see there are other stories being written about the rest of the family.

I’d recommend this new to me author and her Bratva family to those readers who like a little action, a little romance, a little steamy adult time, and a little plot twist to wrap up a really good story.

Faultless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 1) by KG Fletcher – Review by Shannon Fowler

Faultless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #1)Faultless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

KG Fletcher did not let us down with this new series! What a sweet, original, realistic, heart tugging story!

Personally, my family motto has always been “You can’t help who you love.” meaning when you love someone, you just love them. Robyn and Ted have this you can’t help who you love, this faultless love going on. Things happen that tears them apart, for years, but neither has given up hope. After reuniting you can tell their love is true. However, another test is thrown their way. Will they both have enough strength to keep trying?

The plot of this story is beautifully written. Fletcher creates a town (Langston Falls), characters and even feelings that wrap a reader right into the story. Looking forward to reading the next in this series!

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love you today. I love this story and this series. The blurb says it can be read as a standalone but I don’t think so. If you don’t read book one you will not understand Austin’s heartbreak. I can tell you his heart is broken but you feel it starting in book one. In this book, book 2, we get to see Austin’s heart break heal as he leans on Casey and learns about the difference in his past, his present and his possible future. Casey is introduced in book one as well. She’s Mavis’ best friend. Casey thinks Mavis choose the wrong brother. But at the same time Casey is glad she’s the one that gets to play ball with Austin. Casey is our main girl in this story. Her character in life is a back seat kind of person. Yes, she is living her life, working, trying to go to school, trying to be happy, trying to be better than her upbringing. Casey lives life but not in a crazy obnoxious way. She’s just wild enough to catch Austin’s eye and even his heart!

I really liked this story. The characters are down to earth and real. The writing keeps me engaged and turning those pages.

Book 3 teaser: Austin and Josh’s sister Lauren gets her turn and her story looks like it may be the story with the most needed tissues. Looking forward to reading it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Whooo hooo! Another Satan’s Devils Club! This MC is set in Las Vegas this time. And while this is only book 3 in this series, I believe it is one may be favorite from all the series and I have quite a few favorites! RoseLyn and Petty are such great characters. Petty is a character that noone really likes, he’s made some mistakes but his biggest one yet is about to be revealed. RoseLyn is the girl next door who turns into a Diva/Rock star when on stage! Opposites really do attract!

I love that this story brings out so many feelings. Lots of frustration due to the double standard and the sexist classifications. Laughter due to the antics of RoseLyn and her stylist and friend, Kylie. Feelings of revenge and satisfaction when the stalker gets the punishment so well deserved.

This author has the best way with storytelling, especially when it comes to her MC’s. I can’t wait to see what comes next for this club.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a parent of young adults, I am not usually a fan of the young adult troupe. But I took a chance on WE Blend and I am so glad I did! What a well written, passionate, sweet story!

Young adults may claim to know it all but they really are just trying out what they do know and discovering what they don’t. The two main characters, Wil and El learn that money is the root of many problems, whether you have it or you don’t.

This story has all the feels. It made me laugh, cry and even sigh. The situations these characters find themselves in, especially the ones they create, are realistic and believable. Many times, I found myself saying “that’d be my luck!”

This story was easy to read with the plot clearly laid out, what wasn’t clear was how these two were going to get their HEA! I enjoyed reading book 1 and am looking forward to the next story in this series.

What a fun interesting story. Olivia is the main character and while she is organized and determined she seems a little scatterbrained at times. I feel this. When she seems the most crazed is when everything is happening at once, deadlines, phone calls, that mother, that soon-to-be ex-husband. Once Olivia realizes she is getting overwhelmed I love how she breaks things down and gets things done. She really shows how amazing she is.

Most of the other characters in this story add to Olivia’s fun filled crazy life. Her choices, while are completely her’s, are based around many of the people in her life. Which makes Olivia the most relatable character!

This story has a fun realistic vibe throughout. I can easily encourage others to read it and look forward to other adventures in Olivia’s life and what others this author can come up with.

Boss's Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance (Sicilian Gods Book 1)Boss’s Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is so, so good.

“I sure as hell didn’t ask for this job, but I will do it as though every life in my family depends on it…because it does.”

Just when I thought the enemy was taken care of another one would jump out. But these characters, Salvatore Larussio and Adrianna Palento take no prisoners and can handle whatever is thrown their way…capiche? As with any good story there are secrets being kept that when revealed will either make the family stronger or destroy the love that is developing between these two.

This is a new series and while these two main characters have a good ending there are too many questions about the rest of the family for it to be the only book. The first of many stories to come, I hope! I enjoyed this story; the wording and language is how I would think a Mafia family would speak. The situations are realistic and hard to believe at the same time…. sounds a little life regular life too. This story also made me laugh on occasion…especially when Salvatore and Adrianna would butt heads.

“A smile crosses my face for the first time all day as I envision the blonde beauty’s fiery blue eyes lighting up with anger in reaction to that order. Maybe it’s not so bad being in charge…”

Looking forward to more from this author!!

Looking for an interesting thriller type story? This author has one for you. The Intruders are just that…. intruders…beings that don’t belong and don’t mean well for human kind. The story is well written with main character Dex leading the way most of the time. His family is pretty important to him and the story. Other characters stand out as well. Connor, Quinn and Pam just to name a few.

Towards the climax of this story, I did not think Dex would find a way to overcome the intruders…as I write this review, I still have about 10 mins left to read and I am still wondering if all will be well!!! Definitely being kept on the edge of my seat while reading this adventure.

Interesting fun fact. This author includes an author’s note after each chapter. While that is something new to me, it brought a little bit of insight to the story from the author. It was weird at first for me but by the end of the story I was looking forward to seeing what he had to say.

Mafia Elite Series Box Set Volume 2 by Amy McKinley – Review by Shannon Fowler

Mafia Elite Box Set: Volume TwoMafia Elite Box Set: Volume Two by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This boxset contains books 4-7. Book four continues the story of the Mafia Elite. This is Elena and Marco’s story. Elena’s been in hiding but it’s time for her to rediscover her friends and family. With Marco’s help Elena learns many secrets about her past, some including Marco.

This author has given us two more sweet and sexy characters who have their own secrets, their own desires, and their own special way of handling whatever the Mafia life throws their way.

I enjoyed this story; however, I didn’t find Elena the same kind of strength as the past leading female characters, you know, her friends, Sof, Lil, and Em. El is strong in that she survived a life of secret, hidden away from family and friends, she survived many things so her strength shows through in her determination. Marco, however, shows his strength and determination in finding and saving El, more than once and every time she needs him. This author can certain write strong and sexy male characters!

Book 5 which is Ruthless Heir is the next in the reading order and as always, I read this book in one sitting, this author has a way with storytelling that makes me what to read cover to cover. I love her mafia series and this story is no different. The characters, Summer and Luc can handle anything thrown their way. Which is exactly what brings them together. First by chance and then by another chance. This is a stranger to friends to lovers kind of story. And it is pretty perfect.

“We were at a precipice. The lives we lived were over, and our next adventure had only begun.” ~Summer

This is exactly how life moves. From one adventure to the next. Childhood to adulthood. Marriage to children to empty nest. What will be your next adventure be? What adventure will this author bring to Summer and Luc?

Collateral Damage is Book 6 and all I can say is welcome back to the Mafia Elite life! This story is about Hailey and the good doctor, Trey. Even though these two have met before and the timing was off, the spark was ignited within them both. And Fate began to work her magic.

I love how “innocent” Trey seems, like he doesn’t notice all of the nurses trying to be next to him or catch his eye. How sweet he is. He wants to save everyone. He understands he can’t but he sure tries to. Even Hailey needs to be saved.

Hailey will do anything to prove to her family she isn’t a waste, to prove she is worthy. She has a crappy family, a mother who doesn’t know she’s there and a step father who is sneaky and slimy. Hailey didn’t know she needed saving until her plan backfires. It seems the good doctor is ready to save the day.

As with the rest of the series this story should be read in order and while it can be read as a standalone, reading the other books will give you a better feel for the closeness of the family.

Book 7 is called Rivals and if you have been following along with the Mafia Elite series you will know that all of the books are intertwined with the others. The action begins in the very first chapter, so hang on. This author really knows how to get things started:

A tsunami of dread rose, and I balanced precariously on the crest of the giant wave…

Mia is one tough cookie and has been a Mafia princess her entire life. But in the mafia, princess does not mean what you think it means. No birds singing, no rainbows. Mostly death, blood and betrayal.

Nico is a Mafia prince, son of the La Rosa family boss, Robert. His destiny is with the family. Life is not easy when you are in a Mafia family but happiness can be found. Sometimes in the unlikeliest of places.

This story is not for the faint of heart as there is Mafia mischief and sweet sweet revenge.

Over all this series is 5 stars with some stories and characters standing out a little more than the others.

I can relate to the main character, Lauren, with her family problems, money issues, and little self-confidence, she is the most normal and realistic character I have read about in a long time. Jake is down to Earth even though he is wealthy. This author is able to create characters that are real and still fun to read about.

Really enjoyed this story. It was hot hot hot and fun to read. This story is about Noah and Callie and was easy enough to read as a stand-alone, however, clearly there is a story before this one as there are slight references to Grant and Avery’s history. Definitely want to read more about these characters and their friends.

Callie seems innocent but she is more reserved. She doesn’t fly her freak flag for all to see. Noah on the other had works at a sex club. He is worried about his freakiness and his past. And there is the little fact that Callie is Noah’s best friend’s little sister. Noah doesn’t think they would be good together, he doesn’t even think about Callie that way…much, until the night at the club proves otherwise.

Lots of angst and lots of ways to relieve the stresses of life in this story! Not a story to read at work and not for those young innocent readers. Looking forward to the rest in this series!

My Darling RogueMy Darling Rogue by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is cute, sweet and oh so sexy. Set in the 1800’s when society mattered and reputations were important. Celia Buchanan and Gabriel Rose pushed the limits of society and each other. I enjoyed this story. It was easy to read and follow. Both characters had their own angst and past problems to be worked out. Little did they know they would need one another to make their world right.

“She felt…right. It was the only way he could describe it. Right in his world of everything wrong.”

This story includes many sexy scenes and includes dirty words along with consensual adult situations. I would recommend this author and story.

Rivals (Mafia Elite Book 7) by Amy McKinley – Review by Shannon Fowler

Rivals (Mafia Elite, #7)Rivals by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you have been following along with the Mafia Elite series you will know that this series needs to be read in order and that all of the books are intertwined with the others. This is book seven and the action begins in the very first chapter, so hang on.

This story seems like a dream at first. Getting paid to take care of an aging author, a chance to pick that person’s brain and listens to an accomplished story-teller. See? Sounds like a dream. But wait…there’s a twist. The house seems to have a story to tell as well. And then there’s the vision? The ghost? The guy that Roxanne can see and hear and speak to! What’s his story?! Is he a figment of her imagination due to her personal trauma? Can Roxanne save him unlike the others she couldn’t save? Will her life always be one traumatic story after another?

Famous aging author Claudette Grayson needs help. Help getting out her very last story so everyone knows the truth. Claudette is draw to Roxanne, but is there enough time to find the truth?

This is not my first story by this author and I always enjoy reading her stories. Definitely recommend this author and this standalone.

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Shannon Fowler

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh My! How can this be the first time I have read a book by this author?!?! Could I have chosen a better book to start off with!? Oh, how fun this story was to read! Aimee is the coolest chick ever! She certainly doesn’t need anyone. Living the way she chooses, even if it isn’t the safest of neighborhoods. She has her friends and her skateboard, which I am surprised she hasn’t named.

When Aimee runs into Qadir things take a different turn.

“How many others were like Aimee; vibrant and capable, but just one unlucky moment away from complete disaster?” – Hits a little personal. So many people are just one unlucky moment, one car break down, one sickness, one unlucky moment away from complete disaster. Is there something Qadir can do to help, to encourage, to teach…

Aimee and Qadir have an instant attraction but neither one wants to believe it. I really love this story and can’t wait to see what else happens to these characters and their friends/family!

Key to His Heart by Kristina Beck – Review by Shannon Fowler

Key To His HeartKey To His Heart by Kristina Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, my goodness this story is so good. If you like to read about insta-love and soul mates with a little mystery added in, then this is definitely the book for you!

Main character, Katrina, discovers many things about herself throughout this story. One thing she discovers is how strong she is with the birth of her son, Toby. Main character, TJ, also learns a few things about himself. He learns to trust the process.

Katrina and TJ meet under strenuous circumstances and feel a connection immediately. But since both have had their hearts broken, they are leery about taking a chance on romance, even though the attraction and pull to each other is so strong.

Katrina has a few secrets that she isn’t so sure TJ can handle. And she can’t handle TJ leaving her. But her secrets are slowing killing her and those she loves. TJ knows something is going on with Katrina, but he doesn’t know how to help her, especially since she isn’t sharing her problems with him.

This story teaches the main characters and the reader to trust the process, seek help, and know that everyone is suffering from something. We are ok. You are ok.

Levi (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 1) by Edith Mackenzie reviewed by Shannon Fowler

LeviLevi by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story has a sad start, a sad under-lying reason for Levi and Bella to meet. While the reason is sad the rest of the story line and characters are sweet, fun and oh so cute. I really liked how these two characters needed each other and then that need turned into something else altogether. And in such a short amount of time.

This trio of brothers and their sister will make for some very fun stories. Doesn’t everyone love a cowboy? A family man? Levi is just what we need. He’s rough and tough and needs the kindness that Bella brings to the table. She also brings the love that only a female can give, both to Levi and his siblings.

This author’s way with words keeps you engrossed in the story. Even with the sweet story there is a touch of danger since the Russian Mafia is involved. Thankfully Levi is ex-Navy Seal so he should be able to save the girl and the day!!

Hopefully the rest of the family finds their happily ever afters sooner rather than later!!
