Kendall is a female sports writer trying to survive at the small paper she works at. She is the daughter of a fighter so she knows the sport. When she is looking for her big story she didn’t count on meeting Chad, a fighter. He is everything she said she didn’t want but looks are deceiving. She is the distraction he doesn’t need. Reading about the strong pull they have left me wanting more but I feel the story was rushed more than I personally would have liked. I am always happy with the final outcome though. Still a very sweet and heart felt story.

Ok so I could not put this one down. Kendall is a sports reporter and also the daughter of a retired fighter. Chad is an underground fighter that really doesn’t want the attention a reporter would bring. The attraction they both feel is undeniable. She does not want to date a fighter and he is being trained by her dad. Will they be able to stay apart? Will she be able to discover his secrets?

What could possibly go wrong when a journalist on the verge of losing her job who needs a big story to save her career meets a super hot MMA fighter with a secret he wants kept under wraps. You need to read this great book to find out! Kendall and Chad have a connection right from the start, even if neither of them want to admit it, that only gets harder to resist the more they get to know each other. With Chad wanting his true identity kept secret, Kendall’s job definitely throws a spanner in the works but this creative author weaves a fabulous story for us all as we follow these wonderful characters through some very interesting times.

Kendall is a sports reporter in need of a juicy story in order to keep her job. Her father recommends checking out an MMA match, and this is where Chad is introduced to her life. She is intrigued both as a reporter and a woman, but Chad is stubborn and tight lipped – and also as caught up by the thoughts of her as she is by him.

Chad and Kendall have intense chemistry that pulls at them in spite of her job and his reclusiveness. While this read is short, it packs a punch and has characters you will love.

This book leaves you wanting more. I loved the characters, the romance that reels you in and keeps you pinned. I finished it in one sitting and absolutely adored every part of it. The instant attraction between Chad and Kendall, and the anticipation of them being together was perfect.

Chad is this perfect, broody gentleman, who goes for what he wants, even when he swore he wouldn’t, and Kendall is this amazing woman, who will do whatever it takes to get her story. I absolutely loved the character building and the flow of the story. I’m excited to see what else Toni has in store.

Sports romances really seem to scratch that perfect brain itch, and this one hit the spot!

Fighting Chance is a captivating MMA contemporary romance tale. I really enjoyed this book and push and pull. It is a short story but it packs a punch. The chemistry is undeniable between the characters that you will fall in love with them.

This is the story about Kendall and Chad. Chad is a champion fighter and much sought after by all and not even one relentless reporter can change his mind, or can she?

Kendall is after the next big story and one champion MMA fighter is just that but nothing, she does will change his mind, or will he?

I felt everything within this book! I could not ask for more, I do love sport based romances and this one simply nailed everything that it held within its contents! Wonderful characters as well.

The main two characters, were very relatable and realistic to me. I loved how easy they talked and seemed like they were living body people that you could run into in your daily life adventures. Sometimes with business and pleasure, there is a line that can be crossed, and when it does, holy moly! The book built up the story nicely and was engaging all the way through. I very much loved this must read romance!

Exceptional writing that flowed ever so perfectly. I was very much invested in the story as well as the characters. Could not put it down! Highly recommend this must read book and author!

Great, short read. Kendall is very annoying at times, I feel like she I pressuring Chad to admit things he doesn’t want to bring to light and forcing him to reveal secrets and come out of the shadows. It seems she is just worried about her career and showing up her co-worker who thinks he can do her job better. Chad on the other hand, he doesn’t need to be so tight lipped especially because reading, we can tell he is already falling in love with Kendall, so why not take a leap of faith. Kendall’s dad Rich is my favorite character, he is a great father to her, and tells her like it is when its needed. He know the secrets Chad keeps but will not divulge the slightest hint to help her career, but still very supportive of both of them. The ending was sweet and I was very pleased. I loved the romance, drama and all the main characters.

Chad and Kendall are two people that fight the chemistry they obviously have. She’s a sports reporter. He’s a hot MMA fighter. This is an entertaining, sports romance. The drama unfolds as Kendall’s just trying to find a way to keep her job. The characters are well-developed. I can just picture walking into a gym and meeting them. They just feel so real and down-to-earth. The plot line flows smooth. The humor has you chuckling, even as a few twists are thrown in. There’s even an appearance by a “Dick Tracy” wannabe, lol. A romance read that’s perfect for that chuckle you may need. It’s modern, contemporary and I recommend you buy it.

She's No CowgirlShe’s No Cowgirl by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ultimately, I am a sucker for romance novels, especially when the woman is a strong fierce female such as the ones found in this series. I do believe that communication is key and within these pages you’ll find that to be true as well.

I found the authors writing style to be quite immersive, enjoyed the plot and the want to stand out amongst those in her field of work. The ending will put a silly smile on your face too, I am sure. Well worth a read!

Hunter doesn’t want to grow up to continue working his family’s ranch. He wants more, much more. He wants to play pro football if he can, but ranching isn’t for him. Kennedy also has a love for football, but as a girl, she learned that she wasn’t welcome in the sports world. But she is determined and though she can’t play, she finds a way into that world but no one can know the truth. Sparks fly between these two and they begin to build a relationship, but is it solid enough to survive the secrets?
This was such a fun read. I really enjoyed this book. You get drawn in and invested in the characters. You worry right along with them. The best books are the one’s that come to life and you feel like they are real people that you know, and not just characters in a story. That is what happens in this book and I am really excited to read the rest of the series.

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Sports Romance by T. Christensen

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Battling Beckett is a sports romance and I absolutely loved it. It was hard for me to put the book down. It had me interested from the cover and I’m glad I judged this one by the cover.

Greer and her mom move in with her mom’s fiance and his son. She doesn’t understand why he doesn’t like her. Canshe get through to him? The quote I chose for Greer is: “I know. I’m just so happy to see you! It’s my treat. Sit!”

Beckett isn’t thrilled when Greer and her mother move in with him and his dad. He thinks they have ulterior motives. Then he gets to know Greer and finds himself falling in love. The quote I chose for Beckett is: “I can take them off, but only if you reciprocate. And the parents are here, so we should probably go into my room.”

Highly recommended for Sports Romance lovers.

Everything to Me: A Best Friend’s Sister Sports Romance (Playing for Keeps #2) By Lauren Fraser

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Everything to Me is the second book in the Playing for Keeps Series. Everything to Me is a fantastic read.

Kendall is in town for a week and will be staying with her crush. She was hoping the crush would be over with, but then he opens the door. That changes everything. The quote I chose for Kendall is: “Oh my god, did you seriously just say that?” Kendall scoffed. “Take advantage of me, because the poor little lady couldn’t possibly know her own mind. Believe me, Pete. I know my own mind and if I f*** a guy, it’s because I want to f*** him. Not because I’m so naïve he’s tricked me into it.”

Peter has always thought Kendall was pretty. He didn’t realize how good looking she would get as she grew up. He was thinking of the teenager Kendall. The quote I chose for Peter is: “Torrey Pines, it’s not a hard hike at all, but I think you’ll like it. The path walks along the bluffs and overlooks the water. With the breeze off the ocean, and the birds, it’s always really nice, peaceful, even when it’s busy, which it shouldn’t be too bad today.”

She’s off-limits, but this pro-baller has never been one to follow rules.
Kendall Graves has been in love with her brother’s friend for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, he’s never felt the same about her. She’s always just been his buddy’s annoying little sister. Until now.
When professional baseball player, Pete Saunders, agrees to let Kendall stay with him while she’s in town, it never occurred to him she’d tempt him to break bro-code. Rule number 1- don’t touch your friend/teammate’s sister. Rule number 2- see rule number 1.
But this Kendall is a whole lot different from the awkward little sister he remembered. This Kendall is sexy, stacked, and so freaking smart. It’s enough to tempt anyone. And what his buddy doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
Casual he can do. Relationships? Not a chance. True love is just some crap people tell themselves so they don’t have to be alone. He’s not about to blow-up his whole life over something temporary. So why can’t he stop thinking about her?

My high school experience is nothing like I’d imagined.
Brock had been my best friend since we were four years old. We were inseparable. Or so I thought. In our early teens, our friendship started to feel like something more, something I desperately wanted.
Then I was betrayed by him, along with Victoria, the girl who had made our duo into a trio. Blindsided by the accusation that I was a traitor. Bullied and ostracized for three years, all for something I never did.
All I want to do is keep my head down and make it through senior year. I miss Brock every day, even though he has made my high school days miserable. Unlike him, I can’t just forget our past, or the bond we had. And even after three years, no guy has ever made me feel the way he did.
When Rylan arrives and becomes the new star of the football team, I finally find myself with a friend and ally. Through him, I see glimpses of my former best friend. The more I soften toward Brock, the more confused I become. My head is screaming at me to stay away, but my heart still wants him. Which one do I trust? And will I live to regret it?

Abby is a studious student who has dreams of becoming a pediatrician and has been on a road to success during her entire college career. What happens when Drew, the school’s star D1 basketball athlete, chooses her to be his lab partner? Drew is a book about two very determined college students who are trying to become doctors and fall in love during the process. I do wish the tense scenes had a little more drama to them. I truly enjoyed this book. It was a sweet and lovable feel good romance. It will tug at your heart strings from start to finish.
Drew and Abigail start off as lab partners with mixed feelings about being partnered together and what the results will be. As they spend more time together they start to find a connection that is beyond friendship.
Both are organized, driven, and have similar goals within the medical field. They find that dating was not the original plan but once they set out its impossible to imagine not being together. They have a unique love story, and its one where its purely love, respect, and that feeling of a true soulmate. I would definitely read this book again.

Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley

This is the first book I’ve read by Shelley. It won’t be my last book by Shelley. Drew and Abby are so darn cute and I loved it!

Abby has her mind set on getting into med school. When in chemistry she finds that her lab partner isn’t such a jerk after all. She ends up falling hard for him and is scared that it won’t work out. The quote I chose for Abby is: “It won’t take me too long. I’ve worked on it between classes so if I focus, I should be able to knock it out sooner.”

Drew is a basketball player and doesnt have time to date with his schedule. Getting into med school has been a priority since college came into play. Then he meets Abby and things change. The quote I chose for Drew is: “You’re not a slacker. Trust me. If it wasn’t basketball season, I probably would’ve done the same thing and waited to work out this afternoon. But I don’t exactly get to choose my schedule most days, so I’m stuck with what I’ve got. Those are the breaks for being a Division-One athlete and trying to graduate on time. It’s all about time management. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining about my circumstances. I’m just sayin’ that in the off season, my schedule’s a bit different.”

Highly recommended for Sports Romance lovers.

Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley is a fun, entertaining, and easy college romance read. Not only does Ms. Shelley give us great characters, and a wonderful plot she also gives a real feel for how hard life is with all of the pressures of college. I’m personally a romance novel lover and Ms. Shelley just made it so easy to fall in love with this charming and wonderful piece of work. Her main characters on paper seem to be complete and polar opposites, but doesn’t chemistry teach us that opposites attract? So even though these two are completely different will they attract to one another? You’ll have to read Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley for yourself to find out.

I love a sports romance book….and I loved this book!!! The chemistry between Drew and Abby!! Wow. When Drew goes to undergrad school to become a pediatric oncologist he walks into his chemistry lab and picks Abby as his partner. He believes Abby would not be much of a distraction…boy was he wrong. Abby is also focused on her studies as she needs to graduate and move on to medical school as well. As she opens up her heart to Drew…it really made me swoon! I loved this story and highly recommend if you love a sports romance and swoon worthy chemistry :).

Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Drew (Perfectly Independent, #1)Drew by Amanda Shelley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this sweet college romance with an opposites attracts theme to it. Abby is studious and determined on studying hard and not getting distracted to become a doctor, so she definitely does not need to be lab partners with the one boy who makes her heart race, her palms sweat and her knees go weak, Drew. Drew is also not looking for any distractions, but his focus is more on his sport, as the team captain of his basketball team. Drew is not interested in the girls that hang around him and ‘chase jerseys’, but when he’s partnered with Abby who doesn’t even seem to know who he is suddenly Drew is very interested in her.
Despite being attracted to Drew, Abby just thinks he is a typical jock but the more time they spend together she realises there is more to him than that. Drew’s rule of not dating during the season fails as he finds Abby more intriguing the more he gets to know her. However, both Drew and Abby are worried that if they let themselves fall in love then they will be sacrificing their future goals. This is a heartwarming romance between two very different but equally likeable and relatable characters and I felt engaged with them both throughout this story. The storyline flows well and the characters and the setting are bought to life through the descriptive narrative. I was hooked from page one and thought it was a great read.
