This was a really good read! I was glad to see characters back from the first book. O really enjoyed getting a perspective from Austin, he was a great character in the first book and this one didn’t disappoint. This can be read a standalone but there are a few recurring characters from the first book. I’m glad I decided to pick these books because are they great books that made me feel all the emotions. I’m excited to read the final book in this trilogy soon!

This was a quick read and enjoyable – it was my airplane read this last weekend. I enjoyed the characters and thier connection with each other. Austin leaves his broken heart behind and moves to Chicago for a new job. While there, he finds new love in Casey – a friend from the past. They will have to learn to grow together… but they are really good for each other. This is a second book in a trilogy – I didn’t read book one, but wished I had. I think the story of Austin would have been more meaningful to me if I had.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Austin is lost now; he is heartbroken that the woman he loved has chosen and is ready to marry his brother in the process. Feeling like his heart can’t recover from this devastation he leans on the most unlikely person, Mavis’s ex-roommate Casey. Casey is the person who seems to want to help him through this and as they become friends more feelings start stirring for both.

Seeing how close Casey is getting to Austin and when she battles against Mavis, Mavis starts to question Casey’s loyalty and issues damns to stay away from him. Although Mavis is happy and ready to get marry, she is still it seems hung up on her fiancée’s twin brother. But can Casey and Austin push through there heartbreaks and find love with each other.

This is a great pick up from the first book, as I felt heart broken for Austin at the end of the first book, but as this story goes along you get to see the relationship blossom between Casey and Austin. This like the first book was well written and the characters were wonderful to follow and read, although I have to say my fondness waivered a little for Mavis as I found her character to be extremely selfish and that she wanted both sides of the coin which left Austin in a weird holding path.

I loved getting to see the development and growth of the Austin and Casey’s characters and hope in the last book we see more into the relationships of all the characters. I’m ready and waiting line up the third book to see how this lovely trilogy will end.

I have read a few books from this author and she always blows my mind with her writing style. This is the second book in the Trading Heartbeats trilogy. This bill could be read as a stand alone but there are some previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started reading it right away. I fell in love with the characters right from the beginning and I could stop reading this amazing story. It only took me a few hours to finish this book. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Austin Templeton fell in love with one girl but unfortunately that girl belongs to his twin brother now. He is heartbroken so he moves far away to Chicago so he can get over her. Austin is at a Cubs game when a girl just falls on his lap. She is beautiful but he does not want to get his heart broken once again. Austin feels a connection to Casey he can’t shake. Will Austin open his heart up once again or will he keep it closed for good?

This is the second book of this amazing series. In the first book, you get to read and learn a lot about the characters in this book. The author did amazing with transitioning into this book. Looking forward to the third book.

This book follows the story of Casey and Austin. Casey is a bartender in Chicago that is trying to figure out what her next move in life should be. Austin is a successful lawyer in California but is in need of a major change of scenery. When these two meet by chance, it starts a whole chain reaction. Can a broke girl show a successful man how to enjoy life?

Can anyone ever make someone forget their first love? Can words intend to hurt be mended? What happens when someone gets everything they have ever wanted?

Read this amazing book to find out what is in store for these two. Will they be able to defy the odds or will they be memories of what once was?

This one took a bit fir me to get into. I read book one and felt it would take Austin a while to get over Mavis. So I was surprised in here how over the course of a few week/month he was mostly over her. He had previously spent ten yrs of his life…yes 10 pining and wanting Mavis. That is the one thing that bothered me about this story. I wish time was moved forward and Casey/Austin met then met again to make it more believable.

Otherwise the story is ok. I enjoyed seeing the previous characters and where they are now in their relationships. Casey is an adorable girl who lives in reality but lets her dreams come true too. Austin is a top notch lawyer with no plans to forget Mavis until he meets Casey. She changes his everything.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book of The Trading Heartbeats Series. This book can be read as a standalone but I personally recommend you read the books in order to get a fuller understand of where and why we find Austin and Casey on the position we do. The author does a fantastic job of bring the characters to life and the writing is so emotive that as a reader you feel every tear, heartache, sorrow, discomfort and eventually happiness and love.

Austin is still trying to get over the love of his life Marvis choosing his brother over him. Now alone and heartbroken he knows that being around Mavis won’t help him move on. So when the chance of a job away from home comes up he jumps at the chance and when Casey, Marvis best friend offers for him to stay with her it made the move even more easier.

The sparks and attraction between Casey and Austin are instant however both of them are wary of their growing feelings for one another. So this romance isnt straight forwards Austin doesn’t know if he will ever get over Mavis and Casey needs to be sure if Austins feelings for her are real and not just a rebound to the heartache of losing Mavis.
When a further complication gets thrown into the mix Austin has a decision to make which will make or break this growing romance.

The way the couple compliment each other is beautiful. Each picks the other person up and makes them shine. They compliment each other in a way only people in love can. The author’s portrayal of that in this story is beautiful and I can’t wait to read more.

This book was a nice light romance read, and the characters had great character growth. In the beginning we are introduced to Austin and then to Casey. This book was the first time I was introduced to these characters, even though this is the second book in the series. I thought the story between Austin and Casey were a very cute couple that had to learn to grow together. They also had to learn how to manage life with out Mavis, as this person both impacted the two in differing ways.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 2nd book in this fantastic series which I’ve loved so far. This book technically can be read as a standalone but I think you’d enjoy it more and understand it better if you have read the first book in the series beforehand.
In this 2nd book Austin is trying to mend his heart after losing the girl he loves to his twin brother Josh. I have to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Austin in the first book as Josh and Mavis were always destined to be together. Austin should not have gone near Mavis in a romantic way. Reading this book, we see a whole different side of Austin and realise that he really did love Mavis and was totally heartbroken. I have to say that I totally fell in love with Austin in this book. As for Casey, well, she’s a total breath of fresh air. She’s quirky, sassy and rather awesome and she’s just exactly what Austin needed.
I really enjoyed reading Austin and Casey’s story. It really takes you on an emotional journey. I was gripped by the story from the very beginning and did not want to put the book down. I just had to know how their story turned out.
In addition to Austin and Casey’s story we get the beginnings of what will be Lauren and Mitch’s story in the third book and I’m already excited for that.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thought this book was very well written. I loved it from beginning to end. Beckett Miller was the epitome of bad boy. He had the gorgeous body, rippling muscles, NHL Star, was a player with a capitol P, was into drugs…you
Name it! His life came to a screeching halt one night when a girl he partied with ended up in a bad place. His life was gone as he knew it. He went from partying every night, expensive liquor to unemployed, drinking the cheap stuff and no money for anything.
He ran into Paige…who he went to college with years ago. They became friends and Beckett was there for her as a best friend when she went thru something horrible. Andie aka Paige also was there for Beckett while he battled everything going on and tried to get his career back. They were like best friends. The chemistry was there for both of them but, there were other things more important for both of them to focus on.
I loved most of the characters in the book, loved how everything went down. Definitely a 5 star read for me. Looking forward to more in the series.

Taming Beckett is the first book in The Playmakers series by G.K. Brady. This is the first time I have read any of Ms. Brady’s work so I was quite interested to see what I would find.
It is a contemporary sports romance following Beckett Miller, a disgraced hockey player who’s hit rock-bottom- his life spiralling out of control by being caught up in one-to-many scandals. Then enters unlucky in love real estate agent Paige Anderson, and things start to look up. These two knew each other in college, but ten years has passed since then. Both have been burned, and both need someone they can trust. What does fate have in store for them?
I really wanted to love this book, and it really should have ticked all the boxes for me- but unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with the characters which made it quite difficult to invest in their story. Also, the storyline was quite slow in places which resulted in pulling me out of the story, as I had found my mind wandering quite a lot. I had to continually force my focus back on the story, as it hadn’t pulled me in the way I hoped it would.
As I have been on a bit of a thriller binge lately, maybe that’s why I haven’t connect with this book. So, I have decided that I will revisit it again in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ reading day. So don’t let me put you off grabbing a copy and having your own opinion on the book…
Stay tuned…

Thank you, G.K. Brady!

A bad boy hockey player almost destroys his career with his reckless choices. While having to pick up the pieces he meets or remeets Paige a girl from college. Fairly predictable and slow at times, but not a bad read at all. There are several more books in the series so I am curious about where the author goes from here.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taming Beckett, should’ve been called Taming Beckett While Finding Myself. Actually Taming Beckett is better, but that’s exactly what this book is about. Learning about one’s true self. I thoroughly enjoyed what the author wrote and if I’m being honest I can’t wait to dig into book 2 as well as the rest of this series!
Beckett is spiraling quickly into rock bottom. He’s losing his hockey career, he lost his restaurant, he lost all his money and his drug addiction almost killed someone.
Paige has her company and a marriage she’s trying to save. A husband she loves but he’s always traveling for work, or so she thought.
When these two meet again Beckett unloads on her, not realizing who she is. But in the end these two may be what each other needs. It might take some time but Beckett remembers Paige, well Andie as he called her, she’s the only one who ever told him “no.”
A budding friendship forms between these two broken souls. Broken long before their current life situations. The author takes one on adventure while these two discover who they truly are and what makes them happiest. The growth by both characters is beautifully written, especially Beckett.
This is one of those books I didn’t want to put down. I only did because I had no choice and now that I’m done I want more!

Taming Beckett is a sports romance tale, and we all know that sports romances have bad boys at the helm and this one is no different.

Broken and down on his luck but of his own doing NHL bad boy Beckett Miller is on the verge of losing it all. Turning to his friend to see if she can help him turn it all around, he discovers much more than he thought he could.

I liked Beckett and Paige and the trials and tribulations they were going through. The chemistry there and They were good for each other, but I found that I could not fully immerse myself in their story. The pacing felt a little too slow at times and a little drawn out leaving me wanting more. Having said that I will be catching up on the next books in the series to see where GK takes it. There are nine books to the series, so it is bound to get exciting?

If you like contemporary sports romances, then give this book a try.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great book in a new series, by a most amazing author! I could not put this one down, as I was held tightly with the characters, and what they faced, who they were and who they became, it was a good book!

Paige and Beckett-needed each other, in more than one way! They had to rely on one another at first glance, to help achieve goals. Character building was spot on. Chemistry was hot, hot, and did I mention hot? I loved how differences aside, a great team was made, but even off the ice, hearts can melt with the right amount of bliss. Both of them had troubles, be it past trust or habits in general, loved how they pushed thru those fear and issues to really see what they had going on between them. I love sports reads, and this one really amazed me. Good build not too fast and not too slow! Perfect! Loved it!

Such a good read, and highly must say, if you have not picked this wonderful book as of yet, up, you seriously must! The author also had amazing writing skill! Highly recommend this must read book/author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A tale of second chance romance. Beckett is realizing that the way he’s been living is life is ruining his career and his life. He has to go back to Denver and basically start over having been downgraded to the minor leagues. Paige, a home renovator, remembers him from school. She is the coach’s real estate agent. Let’s just say the chemistry is still there , though Beckett takes a little longer to remember and Paige has some baggage to lose. The story is entertaining and heartfelt. You feel Beckett’s suffering and Paige’s heartbreak as she realizes that her spouse doesn’t support her. These two belong together and they have a long road back to each other. There are misadventures and misunderstandings. There is relationship trouble that must be worked out. Can they do it? I felt they could. This is a must read. The characters are true to life and very relatable. It is fun to read about anything in Colorado, being a Colorado girl. The plot was smooth and flowed well. A wonderful story that is a must read. Well-written and enjoyable.

Since childhood, all sorts of stories and characters have lived in G.K. Brady’s imagination, elbowing one another for attention. She’s thrilled (as are they) to bring them to life. She loves telling tales of these less-than-perfect heroes and heroines who transform with each turn of a page, while adding healthy helpings of spice and humor along the way.

G.K. is a recovering real estate professional and the proud mom of three grown sons who wholeheartedly support her but never read her novels—which is probably for the best.

When she’s not writing, you might find her reading, listening to music, drinking wine, or chasing rabbits out of her garden … sometimes all at once. She currently resides in Colorado with her own hero: her very patient husband who welcomes her wacky characters to the dinner table with open arms and mind.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I Love You Today is book two in Julie Navickas’ Trading Heartbeats trilogy. I was looking forward to reading this because I loved Austin and really felt for him. I recommend reading book one first (even if it may cause some annoyance at how he’s treated.) After getting his heart broken, Austin decides he needs to get as far away as possible for a while. Though it was hard, Austin found a way to get over Mavis, well he hopes he did. Casey is unsure of Austin’s true feelings and if he really is over her best friend. I honestly loved this story better than the first. This was so emotional and the characters we very well written. I really felt Austin deserved this kind of love because Mavis used him for his kindness and it painted her in a very weird light. I am looking forward to book three and seeing how the end of the series is wrapped up!

So having read and loved the first book in this series I couldn’t wait to get started on the second book and what a read it was. I absolutely adored it! I think I loved it even more than the first and I thought that one was amazing as well!! My heart broke for Austin in the first book so I was desperately hoping he would find he happily ever after in this book and I just knew as soon as he met Casey she was the one for him. Their story wasn’t the plain sailing romance I was hoping for but I was completely invested in them both and was rooting for them the whole way through.
I guess this story could be read as a standalone but I think to truly understand Austin and a little of his backstory you should read this series in order – you will not be disappointed in either book! I cannot wait for book 3!!

I loved the story of Austin & Casey. Austin is heartbroken when the woman he loves, Mavis, chooses his brother and they become engaged. He has the chance to make partner at his law firm and has the opportunity to head up the newest team in Chicago. Casey is Mavis’ best friend and former roommate who is smitten with Austin. Things however become kind of twisted when the opportunity Austin had been hoping for lands in his lap. He has to choose between building his life in Chicago or going back to LA to pursue his dreams. Which will he choose and will it be the right decision? At first I thought it was good for Mavis to find her happiness, however as the book went on I began to dislike her. It seemed like she didn’t want Austin to be happy especially if it was with her best friend. She was marrying his brother but seemed jealous at just about every turn with the budding romance between Austin and Casey. I feel the author did a good job bringing these characters to life for the readers. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series.

I Love You Today (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas – Review by Michelle Austin

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great 5 star read. I was excited to read Austin’s story. He ends up with a great job offer in Chicago and gets a roommate. And let’s just say that sparks flew between them. Will she help him get over his broken heart? As he gets to know Casey more there is a twist and Austin has to make a big decision. Will he make the right one?
This was a great romance that pulled me right in. All of the characters added a great element to the story, even though one made me very angry. The author does a great job with her writing and she pulls you right in. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

I Love You Today (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas – Review by Serenity Somers

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This continuation of this series is absolute perfection. Austin and Casey’s connection, their love, and their trials are all wound so intricately together, it makes you want to keep reading justto get to the end, and see how they truly end up!

Austin’s troubles with his brother and Mavis, his issues trying to let go, and his newfound love for Casey are all perfectly displayed in this heartwarming story of a c=California boy and a Chicago girl.

Casey’s love for those around her and her confidence issues toward her future are something I think most people can relate to. I loved getting to experience her coming in to herself and finally going for what she wants, with a little (or a lot) of pushing from our (My) favourite Templeton sibling.

I’m so excited for book three, to see where they all end up and experiencing the world of Templeton again.
