John the Baptist: As His Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is a story about religion and spirituality and is an interesting story. This is definitely not my style of book, but it was informative. I was intrigued by the fact that he was preaching on many things, but gender equality really stands out for me. It is a story of a man so entrenched in his beliefs that he wants to share it with everyone but like all religion not everyone wants to listen to what he has to say. John the Baptist a historical retelling of the man and his life/work/beliefs.

John The Baptist: As His Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is an interesting story about a well known religious figure. It felt like quite a good historical retelling of a life so many know already know. I liked how the book has a fact based approach to it as it took away from the “religious” aspect that could have come through. I really do enjoy the writing style this authors brings to his books. I find it easy to engage with and always find the content to be interesting. It felt like I was learning so much while reading this book and I really enjoyed that. Although not the usual type of book I would choose this was definitely a great book.

John the Baptist: As His Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is another interesting historical chronicle- this time focusing on the real life biblical character John the Baptist. As with the other book of Mr. Ledwith’s that I have read, it is quite original and interesting- full of facts, religion/spirituality, history, and more. As with the other book, this had a bit of a documentary feel to it- and could make for an interesting television show.

The book John the Baptist: As His Soul Remembers by Stuart Lediwth is a story that is informative and inspirational. It is a book that pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the final page. It is a joy to read about John the Baptist and how he lived his life. It was refreshing to read about a man who had such strong beliefs and was always looking to bring happiness and good news to others. It is sad to read about how so many did not listen to the words that he spoke. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. I felt like I was right there listening to John speak. I couldn’t help but be encouraged by the words that John spoke and would highly recommend reading this story.

This story of John the Baptist was interesting to read. I am pretty sure he did not have a love interest. I am in no way so well versed in the scripture that I know for a fact but, from what I have read I see no indication. I don’t feel like it was accurate to the teachings of the Bible but there were a lot of things I did see that I thought were true to the John the Baptist from the Bible. He did indeed spread the teachings of Jesus, baptized many people and was beheaded for a ridiculous reason. I found these things to be true to him and looking past some of the other things said about him in this book, that I find to be fiction I did enjoy reading it as a story and of course love the fact that he was teaching equality between genders.

I enjoyed this book. This is my first book by this author. I found it to be informative and interesting. It is a shorter book that will bring inspiration and show you that we are all created equal. Edouards is a philosopher that wants to spread his message about God and what he believes. This is a story of how he tries to get people to listen to him and the message he wants to share. This is not a book I normally read but I am glad I picked it up and found it to be enjoyable. I highly recommend this book.

This is a a story about Sarah, which follows her abduction by Mohawk Indians, and her 5 day trek to Lachine, Quebec and is a truly well written and detailed historical book. Sarah was captured with her two of her younger brothers who were then adopted by the Mohawk families, which they then remained with them. She learnt their language and even fell in love with her captor, before being sold to a wealthy French family. Sarah then lived with the nuns of Lachine, and then she then became a healer for the Mohawks and other locals and travellers.
The story is told through her eyes and is you see her deepest, darkest emotions. The book is extremely captivating, you see all the obstacles that she had to overcome, the heartbreak, drama, adventures and travels that she went on. It had me gripped from the beginning, and it was a wonderful journey to go on. Would thoroughly recommend.

We learn how a young girl survives in the 1700’s including being abducted by Indians. The author is channeling Sarah. The descriptions are a amazing and seem true to the time period. I really enjoyed this unique story and look forward to reading more books by Mr Ledwith. I’m interested to see if they fall within this genre.

This book is a beautifully laid out historical novel based around the life of 14 year old Sarah Tarbell and the trials she went through during it.
We start with a description of Sarah, her life, her home and her community. She is happy until one day when she is abducted with two of her brothers by a Mohawk raiding party.
It is this abduction which causes Sarah to question her life, beliefs and ties to others, as her world changes direction completely. As she is treated differently to her brothers, she realises how out of her depth she is and wonders why she is treated this way. She has to grow up quickly and create a place for herself in her new environment, but because of the changes within this environment, she has to adapt quickly. This leads onto the formation of relationships, a new routine and way of life, however, just as she is starting to form these, she is moved on again and the new trauma of this is just as bad, if not worse than the last in her eyes, but she doesn’t go without showing her maturity and her strength.
When she meets her final place, she has to again learn a new environment and routine, as well as adapt and accept the change again. She is helped this time by a familiar face and becomes someone of whom she can be proud of with the choices she makes. These choices lead her to a fulfillment of which she would never have believed possible or dreamed of in her original hometown.
It is an emotionally complex story of a young girl thrown into an adult world, without a clue what she should do. It is her journey of adaptation and acceptance without prejudice, of love, loss, friendship and rejection.
A book you will not be able to put down as you are drawn into learning about life and traditions in another time and place.

It seems like the narrative was a little stilted but that could be because, as the author said in the beginning, it was a repeated narrative. I enjoyed the story. The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith. This is the best book. I loved the story and I loved Sarah Tarbell. She is a 14 year old young girl who is growing up in a Puritan household in Massachusetts in the 1700s. She and her 2 brothers are kidnapped by Mohawk Indians where her brothers are adopted and raised with the families but Sarah is sold to a French family. Sarah later became a healer for the Mohawkan Tribe and many others including trappers, fishermen and soldiers. She fell in love with her captor and until the day he died she loved him even though he sold her to the French. Once he died she professed her faith and became a nun. Her story is told thru her eyes, the ups and downs of being abducted, of falling in love, of losing her family and of her faith. Its a deeply moving story that taught me things I never knew. I highly recommend reading the book!

This book is a completely different book than anything I have ever read. It is intense, heart breaking and at times difficult to grasp. It is written in the form of a person’s soul communicating her story to the author. The story takes place in 1700s where Sarah, along with her brothers, were kidnapped by the Mohawk Indians when they were children. Sarah, is adopted by a Mohawkan family, and later sold to a French family. She ironically falls in love with her own captor. Later, she converts into a nun and becomes a healer to the same Mohawkan families. This entire book was foreign to me, it took me a while to understand it. Perhaps people who knew this history before can do more justice to the book. It had a complex emotional story and the narration was also quite different. Overall, it was a good read.

This book was interesting. I generally don’t do as well with historical contexts, but it was interesting to read this story. The abduction scene was a bit intense and the book overall reminded me of a documentary. I am still a little confused as to whether or not this is a true story. The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith was an emotional 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning and was taken on an emotional rollercoaster (keep kleenex handy). The way this story was told was new to me but I really enjoyed it.
This is Sarah’s story and her horrifying experience of her abduction along with her brothers. She was separated from her brothers and sold. The strengths that this girl showed no matter what she went through was amazing. There is so much more to this story but I don’t want to give anything away.
This is a book that kept me thinking about it even when I was done. If you are looking for a great read then I highly suggest this one for you. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is a well written and extremely detailed historical novel about a young girl, Sarah Tarbell, living in 1707 and it’s the story of her life and abduction by Mohawk Indians. I struggled with how to rate this book as it has a complicated narrative, on one hand I read it as a well researched novel of life for a young girl from a Puritan family living between 1707 to 1710, however, if you look at the title it says, “as her soul remembers”. Now I am fairly open minded and come from a family who’s Grandmother was a member of a Spiritualist Church and I have been to a seance, so the author, Stuart Ledwith saying he has a “gift best described as a sense of ‘knowing’”, is not completely strange to me and the idea of those that have died being able to speak to those left behind is not a new one. However, I am sure that for some readers believing that the book has been written by Stuart via Sarah Tarbell’s soul maybe a little too strange, unrealistic or unbelievable. In the end I rated it as a five star read, but I understand that the novel may not be as popular with some readers. In the Preamble, Stuart, explains that souls like Sarah are able to communicate with him, “by her voice, her feelings”, as well as showing him, “snapshots of a person, place or thing”, Sarah can also show Stuart, “action sequences”, which allow him “to describe and delineate their meaning”. The book is written in Sarah’s voice, the narrative is of someone looking back on their life and remembering, and what a life to remember. The storyline, recounting Sarah’s life is fast paced and full of drama and adventure. Sarah is abducted at the age of fourteen and then adopted by a Mohawk family following a long and dangerous trek. She learnt their language and even fell in love with her captor before being sold to a wealthy French family. From there she then lived with the nuns of Lachine and eventually became a healer for the Mohawks and other locals and travellers to the area. Following her lovers death she took her vows to become a nun herself. Sarah lived such a varied and in a way exciting life, although also a scary and uncertain one, having to overcome so many obstacles and hardships. Stuart Ledwith took me on an emotional rollercoaster and I definitely needed a box of tissues handy whilst reading this novel. I was fully immersed in Sarah Tarbell and her story, so much so that once I had started this book I finished it within the day. Stuart says, “She hopes you enjoy the journey” and I definitely did. I recommend this novel and advise that you read it with an open mind.

Was not sure what to expect from my first book from this author but I am so glad I picked this book up. I’ll start with the writing flow which grabbed me from page one and literally would not let go, the storyline was completely unique and had me completely invested also in the first page. The emotions I experienced while reading this were totally unexpected and there was at least once where I didn’t even realize I had tears running down my face.
The synopsis intrigued me, the cover grabbed me, but the end result was me thinking about this story long after I finished. This author has earned a new fan and I know I’ll be reading this book again more than once in the future. I’ve already recommended to a couple people and truly hope they take the same chance I did because it was awesome!

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers is the first book I have read by Stuart Ledwith. The manner in which it is written is unlike anything I have ever read. At first I thought it was really weird and awkward, but eventually I got into the flow of it, and really enjoyed the book. It is written in a biography style, but described as Sarah’s soul communicating her voice and feelings to the author. It was written in the early 2000s, but the story takes place in the 1700s. Sarah and her brothers were Puritans kidnapped by Mohawk Indians as children. Her brothers were adopted into Mohawk families, but Sarah was not. She tells her story of her capture and the years following. It is quite the story, starting off first as a stolen child, turned slave. Then falling in love with her captor, and serving as healer to the same tribe that took her from her family. The narration is one of a kind, and very intriguing. I don’t know if its a true story, but it certainly seems like it could be.

This was a new author for me and so I really didn’t know what to expect when I sat down with The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers. I figured this would be a book that was somewhat haunting and sad and that is what I got plus some. In this we follow Sarah Tarbell as she develops and deals with very difficult situations that most would never even be able to imagine let alone survive. I loved how this was told through her eyes and we saw the deepest and darkest thoughts as much as we saw the hope and fervor to survive and overcome. It was a great escape for a weekend afternoon read and I was impressed with the writing as much as the story line. I will definitely be around for more from Stuart Ledwith and look forward to seeing what else is available from him while I wait for more new.

I didn’t know what to expect when diving into this book. I’m normally really picky when it comes to historical novels but I COMPLETELY fell in love. You can’t help but fall in love with Sarah even though part of you is absolutely pained by the experiences she goes through. She teaches you that you can adapt and overcome any situation if you can put your mind to it. I also like reading about her husband, who in a way, saved her. This is one of those books that not only pulls you into a roller coaster ride of emotions but its one that will stick with you long after reading the last page. I cannot recommend this book enough!!!

This was a moving and emotional story. Definately one you need your tissues for. It is set in a time that we can’t even imagine living in so even though some of their views and traditions seems strange to us it is believable that at that time they were normal.
This is the story of Sarah Tarbell and about how the abduction of her and her brothers by Mohawks. If follows Sarah as she deals with her life and the changes that she needs to make and learn to fit in with these people.
The characters are well written and the scenes so descriptive you can actually imagine being there and going through these experiences as they happen.

Sarah Tarbell along with her younger brothers were kidnapped. Everything they knew changed. Right down to her brothers being adopted and her being sold. This is a walk through of what she remembers. Her life, her kidnap and the struggles she fought. I will not give you more. Only to say if you like Historical Romance, this is a book for you.
While Stuart Ledwith, is a new author for me, he was very much liked. This story is well written and easy to follow. I enjoyed the history as well as the romance. Sarah is one strong child, who became an adult in this story. Stuart Ledwith’s description of events, made me feel like I was there. I also loved the other characters, as they fit their parts well. I really enjoyed this story, and I will be looking for more from Stuart Ledwith. Job Well Done!

This story was a tough one for me to read, because of all the emotions I had while reading. This is a story about Sarah and her abduction. Sarah tells a tail of her life. I do not think I could ever fall in love with someone who took me away from my family. Stuart Ledwith did an amazing job with his character building. I felt like I was Sarah Tarbell by the end of the story. The picture he painted, especially with his attention to detail was a vivid one. Can someone who is abducted ever feel safe? Can they feel love? Do they miss their family? I highly recommend this emotional roller coaster ride of a book. Make sure you have a kleenex box and comfy blanket because you may not be able to put the book down.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is an interesting historical chronicle focusing on the life of a puritan teenager abducted by the Mohawk Indians in the early 1700’s. We follow her emotive journey of strength and survival- learning much about her, and the time, as experienced by her. This is an original story, told in an interesting way. Sarah had a difficult life- full of fear, danger, and the unfamiliar. But amongst it all is a story of strength and survival, of faith and hope, compassion and learning, and most of all- a story of love. This book has a bit of a documentary feel to it- but also woven with real emotion. It is a thought-provoking read that had me appreciating the strength it took to survive under those circumstances.

I love historical fiction and was intrigued by the premise of this book. I was immediately pulled into the story and invested into finding out what happened to Sarah and her brothers. I’ve always been fascinated with this era and thought the author did a great job with the details to move the story along and engage the reader. All in all a fascinating story. I look forward to reading it again.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith is an imaginative and well told story about a young girl in a time so different to what we know now. This book was detailed and complex and, for me, utterly riveting. The life and story that we get to know in this book was so different to anything I have experienced and yet at the same time I could picture it all as if I were right there with Sarah. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am absolutely blown away by his story telling. I thought the whole book was so well put together and it left me wanting more at the end. This is the kind of book that I could have kept on reading. This book was so emotional as well, as you imagine everything she had to go through, and all from such a young age. This book was beautifully written and one of my favourite reads of this year. I would highly recommend everyone pick this book up today.

Wow what a story! The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As her Soul Remembers is a fast paced short story that will have you on the edge of your seat while you’re trying to figure out what is going to happen next. I was pulled in from the beginning and couldn’t stop till the end. This is my first read by this author and holy cow my emotions were all over the place . Get ready to follow Sarah on her journey afterward being abducted. I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend this book.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell by Stuart Ledwith is a compelling read that will stay with you long after you have read it. Be sure to have tissues at hand because it will wreck you emotionally. It is fast paced and a short read, but it definitely packs a punch. The story is about a young woman who has a harrowing and gruelling time after her abduction in the early 1700’s and captivity by Indians. She was also sold on and lived to tell her tale of a life she never dreamed about. The way Stuart tells her story you can feel everything that she goes through as if you were the one experiencing it.
It is just like the saying, sometimes “the truth is stranger than fiction”. Not a story to be missed.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell by Stuart Ledwith an emotional four-star read. This is a great story and one that you need to pick up, along with a pack of tissues, I started this and finished it in one sitting, wondering when it was over what happened. I would have given it a five-star rating, but it lost a couple of points along the way, but overall, very well written and plotted. The characters were rounded well done and will have you believing in them.

The Abduction of Sarah Tarbell: As Her Soul Remembers by Stuart Ledwith
This is the first book I’ve read by Ledwith and I’ve got to say be ready for tissues. Ledwith knows how to capture your attention from the first line and let’s you go at the end.
This story follows Sarah Tarbell through her abduction and that of her brothers. They travel long and far to be brought to another territory. What will happen to the three of them?
Sarah tells her story through Ledwith and it’s very captivating. Sarah recalls what happens to her and it’s an emotional ride. She doesn’t think her God talks anymore, but she learns soon that she can do it on her own. The quote I choose for Sarah is: “I must go from here as I came here. I will not love another man, ever, mark my words. If ever you find you want me, just call out my name and I will answer you.”
I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good book. A very emotional ride, but one you’ll appreciate. The things you learn and read is hard to accept when it’s never happened to you.
