Houses of Deception by Cynthia Hamilton
Four Stars

Houses of Deception is the sixth book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This book is the best book in this series, so far. I would highly recommend you read this series in order. Although, each book is a complete story and can be a standalone, you will get the full backstory if you read the series from the beginning. This book is both thrilling and suspenseful, as the rest of the books in the series Ms. Hamilton keeps you guessing right until the end. Madeline and Mike are on the case, well two cases, and they are finding that neither case is as it first seemed. The twists and turns had me up late into the night trying to figure out the mysteries of the cases. Ms. Hamilton has such a brilliant way of keeping you guessing right until the end. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

Avenging Devil Part 2 by Manda Mellett
Five Stars

Avenging Devil is the second part of the Avenging Devil story and the fourth book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. It is a true wonder how Ms Mellett comes up with all of the chapters of the Satan’s Devils MC. The second part of this story had to be told, but please read at least the Avenging Devil Story in order to get the full effect. Ms. Mellett is a one click author for me. She writes intense books with lots of detail, sometimes dark , and what I believe is an accurate account of the inner workings of a MC. This is the continuation of Saffie and Niran’s story, and it is amazing. I highly recommend this book, series, and author.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Bastard by India Kells
Five Stars

Dark Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel is the fifth book in the Bastard series by India Kells. These books keep getting better and better. Each brother’s story is a tale that needs to be told. Sam is in a dark place and when he accidentally calls the wrong number, Ellie gives him something to live for. As always it is great to see glimpses of the other brothers. I’m waiting with bated breath for November and the final book in this series……maybe……well a girl can hope maybe Ms. Kells will find a lost unknown brother out there. If you haven’t read any books in this series, I highly recommend you read them in order. You really don’t have to because each book features a new couple, but you would miss a bunch of the back story if you skipped any books. Besides they are all Five Star books.

Bake Believe is a wonderful YA audio written by Cori Cooper. Although this book is in the YA category, I think is is great for readers/listeners of all ages. She is a new to me author and I can’t wait to see what else she has written. The story is fun and filled with magic and some great recipes. Cat is a wonderful character and she has some witty dialogue. It was a really enjoyable 8 hours of listening pleasure.

Katie Penate is also new to me narrator. I like the tone of her voice and she really made the story come to life. I look forward to more books by Ms. Cooper and those narrated by Ms. Penate.

Repair: An Everyday Heroes World Novel is part of The Everyday Heroes World, which at this time has 71 books written by many different authors. Repair is written by Trish Williford and she is a new author to me. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters were amazingly complex. This book brought out all the feels in me. Charlie and Tank have some off the charts chemistry. This book had me laughing out loud one minute and reaching for a tissue the next. I’m looking forward to reading more from both Trish Williford and The Everyday Heroes World.

Pet Me: The Toye Shoppe is the first book I have read by this author. I hope it is the beginning of a series. I enjoyed this short book and look forward to the rest of the guys’ stories. Bailey and Sam are a wonderful combination. They have great chemistry. The story flowed well, and my only complaint would be it was over too soon. I am really looking forward to adding more of Ms. Jurd’s books to my library.

Fury Of Conviction is the second book in the Dragonfury Bas Boys Shifter Series by Coreene Callahan. This is the first book I have read by this author, but definitely not the last. This short story had my attention from the very first page. It was just long enough to read on a Sunday afternoon. Reading helps me relieve stress and I just fell into this Dragon world. I’m looking forward to going back and reading the first book in this series. I would highly recommend this book.

Finders Reapers is the fifth book in the New Orleans Nocturnes by Carrie Pulkinen. This series is so fun to listen to. Each book has made me laugh out loud. I think this is my new favorite, but I have said that before with this series. This book is just the right amount of time to spend relaxing and laughing at the situations the characters find themselves in.

Hollie Jackson has narrated the whole series so far. She does a great job, and I like the way she brings these characters to life. I can’t wait for the next book in this series, and I hope they keep coming for a very long time.

Cadence Defined is the second book in the Cadence Duet by Dakota Willink. These books need to be listened to in order, and they are both hot listening. This is true love with twists and turns. I like that the books were 17 years apart and the growth of the characters was amazing. This author is definitely a one click for me and I look forward to whatever is coming next.

Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber did an excellent job with both books in this diet. They really brought the characters to life. I will also be watching for these two narrators in my upcoming audible listening pleasure.

Remember His Name is the second book in the Remember My Name Series by Laurencia Hoffman. This story features Wren and Henry and the twists and turns had me reading long into the night. You could read this book as a standalone but I would recommend reading the first book in the series first. They are both good reads. This book closed some gaps that the first book left hanging. The writing improved with this book, not that the first book was bad, this one seemed to flow better. I like reading MM genre and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Hoffman in the future.

Nite Fire: Chain Reaction by C.L. Schneider

Narrated by Cassandra King

Four Stars

Nite Fire: Chain Reaction is the second book in the Nite Fire series by C.L. Schneider. This series should be listened to in order because there was so much background information that the story will be better understood. Plus the first book was wonderful and you wouldn’t want to miss out. The story continues with Dahlia Nite and Alex Creed investigating a mysterious illness plaguing the city. This story is full of action and suspense and will leave you on the edge of your seat as they try to solve the mystery. The characters are very well developed and the story flows well. I highly recommend this book series and author, especially if you love paranormal.

This, like the first book, is narrated by Cassandra King. She really brings the characters to life. Her voice is easy on the ears, and I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

Beside that, they are all fabulous five star reads. This book is my favorite of the series. I love how the characters come together. I read this book in one sitting, and was sad when I finished because I will have to wait a while for the next book Ms. Valkyrie writes. She has become a one click author for me. Her attention to details make the book flow smoothly, and the characters she comes up with are amazing and different. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the Parker Lake Series by Olivia Sherwood. I’m a big fan of Olivia’s and love all of her books. This series looks to be one of my favorites. The amazing way Ms. Sherwood weaves the characters and the small town atmosphere made me feel like I was part of the story. My husband thought I was a little crazy when I was talking to my kindle…. I just couldn’t put this book down. It had my attention from the first page to the last. It brought on a great range of emotions from happy to sad to angry.

This story brings together Annabelle Cleaver and Wyatt Holloway. I love the witty dialog between the characters. This is a love story about learning to trust and healing wounds. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance. Olivia Sherwood is on my TBR list and she has never let me down with any of her books.

Lost Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Lost Bastard by India Kells

Narrated by Antonio Turner

Five Stars

Lost Bastard is the first book in the Dark Sparrows series by India Kells. I have read/ listened to most of Ms Kells books, and I think this series is going to be a favorite of mine. The suspense and action really held my attention throughout the fast paced book. Deva and Aleksei make a wonderful couple. Both are strong characters who stick together to overcome evil. As they traverse through MCs, cage fighting and the mob, they learn about each other and their families. This series is going to be amazing if this book is any indication. I hope that the secondary characters will flow through the whole series.

The narrator Antonio Turner has a great voice. This is the first book I have listened to by him. He really brought the characters to life and I’m looking forward to hearing more of his narrations.

Five Stars

Awakening is the third book in The Journals Trilogy by D.M. Earl. This series needs to be read/ listened to in order. This series is rough and addicting. There are definitely some triggers in this book. It was a roller coaster of a ride from the very beginning and it never stopped. This book starts where the first book leaves off. Quinn is an amazingly strong woman who has been through unthinkable things. Stone and his crew have come to help settle the score. This whole series was full of vibrant characters. I listened to this book in one sitting because I just had to know how it ended. It was totally worth it!

This book was narrated by Torii Alaniz. Her voice was mellow and easy to listen to. She really brought the characters to life. I look forward to listening to many more books by her.

Manifested Dreams is a short story by Dr. Yvonne L. Johnson. This is the first book I have read by Dr. Johnson, and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. This was an intriguing and interesting perspective of history, stories told through letters from the past and discussing current issues. These were thought provoking issues on slavery and racism, and the differences and similarities in generations past and present. It was something different for me to read, but I really enjoyed the different perspectives. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Five Stars

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. Ms. Mellett is one of my go to authors. I have read most of her books. I’m not really a big MC reader, but this author puts such interesting twists in her Satan’s Devils Universe that her books are impossible to put down. This one is different as it has two parts and the first one ends on a cliffhanger, which I can’t wait for the second part to see how it ends. This book features Saffie and Niran and is a bit darker than the rest of Ms. Mellett’s books. There may be triggers for some, but the author does a good job of diving into deeper subjects of things that happen in some MC clubs. This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I was grabbing for the tissue box more than once. If you love MC Romance this is the series for you.

That being said, I wish I would have listened to the first three books in this series. I’m planning to go back now and start from the beginning. This book is filled with action, adventure, romance and the question most pounder.. Good vs. Evil. The story was very detailed, an interesting mix of characters. This is Hunter’s story, and his part in the Trinity of Light. I believe this is a story for all ages. If you love paranormal fantasies, I would highly recommend this book.

The narrator in Dan Delgado. This is the first book I have listened to with his narration. I enjoyed the timber of his voice and the emotion he brought to the characters was extremely enlightening.

Beneath the Surface is the third book in the Gray Ghost series by Regan Brown. This series keeps getting better and better. This book features Jack and Hannah. The timeline in this book is simultaneous with book two Eye of the Storm. You really should read/listen to this series in order to get the full effect of how all of the characters interact with each other. Hannah, is a tough as nails, able to take care of herself kind of girl. Jack is a great match for her and their chemistry is off the charts. The characters are well developed and the Sizzling chemistry is HOT. Kendall is just hilarious with her lists and straight shooting sarcasm. Liam is a bit uptight at the beginning, but they fit together like a puzzle. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series.
