Actions and Consequences An emotional tale drenched in suspense and lightened by hope. This is the first book I have read by this author and it was a great read. There is a rawness about the story, with the heart wrenching and confronting treatment of the boys but also shows the brotherhood that forms. I really connected with the characters and was vested in their plight. Highly recommend.

Just finished this book and had to rush over to write this review while it’s fresh in my mind. First off this is not something I usually read about (Genre). I also don’t like clowns so I was a little scared to read it lol. Luckily they were only mentioned briefly. However, this book was way better than I expected. It was hot and dangerous! The steam was on level 10. I don’t know a whole lot about Shibari but I definitely learned a lot from this book. Apart from the rope play, the drama and action was also very good. The French Mafia? Uncle Peter? The ex-wife? And let’s talk about the cliff hanger we were left on. One of the best I’ve read ever. I immediately put the release date of book 2 in my Calendar. Liza you did such a wonderful job with this book!

The Boys of Alpha Block is the first book that I have read by Nancy Nau Sullivan, but if this is anything to go by, it certainly won’t be the last. This is a suspenseful women’s fiction story that is set in a juvenile detention centre where a group of neglected and abused boys plan their escape. The story really tugged at my heartstrings, as I really felt for what the boys had experienced and what they were (still) going through. The story is quite suspenseful and had me flipping the pages, avidly reading well into the early hours, just so I could find out how everything played out. It also contains sensitive subjects that may be triggers for some readers. This isn’t a ‘light and fluffy’ read. What the boys have been through, and experience while in detention was heart-wrenching. Neglect. Manipulation. Abuse. Assault. Humiliation. Violence. Yes, there were some gritty, raw, and emotional moments. But there was also connection, bonds, friendship, hope, and strength of character-adding light to the story, which helped to balance those dark elements. Well worth the read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and this series as a whole. The author did a wonderful job pulling me into the story and keeping me entertained. This book can be read as a standalone but it is my opinion that you read all the books prior to this because you don’t want to miss out on great reading. I loved Miranda and Efrem, they had instant chemistry and their story evolved from there. There are other characters in this story that you will get to know as well. I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say that this is a must read. I highly recommend this book.

The Boys of Alpha Block is a heart-wrenching tale about a group of teenage boys who plan to try to escape Alpha Correctional Center, a juvenile detention center. The boys have been subjected to humiliation, degradation, and abuse at the hands of the correctional officers working within the correctional center. They feel that life on the outside would be better and as a group try to devise a plan to escape.
This was a beautifully written and fast paced story, but I will admit that it was hard for me to read at times because of the horrid abuse and neglect that was taking place within the correctional center. The author did a fantastic job of inciting raw emotions through detailed writing and vivid scene descriptions. The characters are ones that you can love, hate, or feel indifferent about. The boys needed a second chance, which could have been possible with the right guidance. Instead, those that could have helped them either mistreated or abused them or turned a blind eye. The correctional officers were deplorable, and it is hard to imagine that someone in a position of authority could treat another person so inhumanely. Those such as the teachers and counsellors that were there to guide and help were ultimately just as guilty for allowing the abuse and mistreatment of the boys to continue. A riveting read that was a rollercoaster ride of emotions for me.

This was an interesting read. It is about a group of boys in a juvenile detention centre who are fed up with the way they are being treated so they come up with a plan to escape. But what will the price be for their freedom and is it worth all the trouble they go through? The author’s writing was interesting as they have first hand knowledge of this environment which really brings the story to life and really educates the reader on what actually happens in these places. There is definately a divide between the educators who believe these boys can be rehabilitated and do everything in their power to facilitate and help them to do that and the other side of the deputies who believe they are all lost causes and can’t be changed. Reading the verbal and physical abuse they endure really bring home how some children leave these places and go on to reoffend again.
This story is really well written and the detail that goes into the planning of the boys escape and what happens during and after really make this a gripping read that I just couldn’t put down.

I struggled when I first started reading Punk. I just couldn’t get interested. However despite that I pushed forward being I was told I should check this book out. Well it wasn’t bad, it just started slow. The author wrote an interesting journey between a vigilante and someone who is hunting vigilante. However the characters aren’t aware of their unforeseen connection. Yet both, Miranda and Efrem, are connected in a way where they can’t resist one another. Despite being boss and employee. Despite being neighbors. Efrem can’t stop what he feels is his penance for the things he did in the past. Miranda is looking to get justice for her brother Marcus. What will Miranda do, when she finds out about Efrem’s biggest secret? Will Efrem actually tell her? There’s a lot going on, but not enough, that it takes away from what the author wrote. The different story lines are all connected; you just have to read to see how. It may actually fascinate you. I also haven’t read any of the books that came prior, which says this works wonderfully as a standalone vs just a series. Would I recommend this book? Sure, just know if there’s any part that feels slow, just keep reading it will all work out. It did for me! Now it is time for me to check out the 5 books prior to this one.

This was so good! Cassandra and Chandler both grew up in the circus. Cassandra’s parents were magicians and she always idolized Chandler who is an aerialist. Wanting to become one herself, she finally made it to Dreamers Academy where she met Chandler and got to learn from him. Chandler always enjoyed her parent’s performances. Their lives were entwined before they even met. Once they did meet, they were enraptured with each other but teacher and student relationships are taboo. Aside from the obvious struggles, they also have secrets that come to light and endanger them both.
This book was refreshing. The author added the art of Shibari into the story of which I knew nothing about. Not only did I get to enjoy an original story but I learned something as well. The story was filled with romance, intrigue and suspense.

Obedience (Ties That Bind) is book 1 of the Ties That Bind series. The story is about Cassandra Blackstone. At 13 years old she loses her parents and the thing that she holds onto is the memory of the circus aerialist performance that she saw with her parents the day before they died. She becomes enthralled with the performer Chandler Monreau. Years later at age 25, she gets the chance to audition for Chandler’s family’s academy thus kicking off the attraction between the two.
I liked this book. The circus backdrop was awesome. This was the first story I have read with this sort of setting and it was a very fresh take on a romance. I’m not a fan of age-gap romance but I was comfortable with the way this one was portrayed. This was a nice slow-burn romance that really gave time for the characters’ chemistry to develop. There was also a nice little murder mystery, which is always a good thing. Although the pacing is a bit slow in the middle, the story has great romance and a bit of spice. I really enjoyed this story.

An amazing read! So much angst, darkness, lush, love and mystery thrown together. Chandler and Cassandra were amazing. The Boys of Alpha is the first book I have read by this author, Nancy Nau Sullivan. I was very intrigued about this story by the cover, and I was not disappointed. The story is full of emotions and suspense, the story builds slowly and then picks up. This thrilling tale is very well written with psychological elements and was a surprise to read. The characters are interesting, and you become invested in them and their plight. Imagine being locked away and being treated as scum by some who abuse the power they hold. The boys incarcerated in Alpha Block suffer fear, humiliation, physical and verbal abuse. When enough is enough the boys put together a plan but what will they have to sacrifice and what will be the consequences of their actions? What is the price you are willing to pay? Is freedom worth the price? I hope to read more from this author.

While this book can definitely be read as a standalone why would anyone deprive themselves by not reading the entire series. Get them all and binge read them I say! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from her. I found this book to be well written and engaging. A story about boys trying to break out of prison. But they neglect to think about the consequences of their actions. Is escape or freedom a dream for them? I enjoyed these characters and what they added to the story. They are connectable and made the story come to life. A fast paced, hard to put down story that has a lot going on. I enjoyed how the author did a great job of keeping things engaging which helped me from getting lost in the story. This is an easy and entertaining story to read. You don’t want to miss what happens to these boys. I enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it

First time reader of this author Liza Snow. Honestly I found the book to be an awesome read. A real emotional thrill ride. I have not had the pleasure of reading a book where they were an Aerialist until now. It added a real layer of intrigue for me especially after finding out that he was interested in Shibari. I find it truly interesting how they do that. Some will say its artistry work, tying one up like that. The cover really drove me to try this book. I loved it. It was beautiful. It has some real spice between Cassandra and Chandler. I would highly recommend reading this book.

This is another great book in a great series. This is an age gap romance but it is where the leading lady is older. It is a gripping story that allows you to be able to get caught up in all the action within the first few pages. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, I highly suggest you read those because the characters from those books make appearances in this book. It would also help you to understand their situations as well. This book did not disappoint it has everything from dark intense story line. It has romance and steam all throughout. It is well written that you feel like you are part of the group or at least a fly on the wall to what is happening. I wish that I could go further into detail about what went down in this book but I can’t because that wouldn’t be doing you the justice you deserve by being able to read it without any spoilers. I find that going in knowing that the character development, the dark, twisty suspense, and the romance are all there is better than knowing what actually happens. It leaves an air of mystery to the whole book that will have you turning pages as quickly as you can. It will be an easy read and won’t take much time because of how invested you will be. This type of book isn’t usually my favourite, but I had read the others in the series so I knew I had to add this one on. I am so glad I did. It was well written and I really enjoyed the characters, which very much surprised me. I thought the connection was easy to engage with and very relatable. This book fits in perfectly with the rest of the series. It is dark, intense and a great story to read. It wasn’t hard to get into the story and it was lovely to read about familiar characters again. This author is still a relatively new one to me and I think I am very much going to enjoy reading more of her work.

Nothing good happens after midnight, except in Stars Like Gasoline. I was hooked from the first chapter and had to keep reading to find out what was going on! There is plenty of mystery, a little bit of romance, tension and a little bit of the paranormal thrown into the mix. I enjoyed the plot of Stars Like Gasoline and you will too!

Stars Like Gasoline by Jessika Grewe Glover is a suspenseful paranormal tale with ghosts/spirits, mystery, family, friendship, love, loss, and even a few darker topics that may be sensitive for some, such as abuse, slurs, violence, and stalking. The author broached these topics in such a way that I wasn’t triggered by them, but I wanted to mention them as a precaution for others that might be.
Jessika Grewe Glover has written an interwoven/ layered complex storyline of ghosts and their past lives along with living people in a different time. I applaud the great skills she used to keep all these layers from getting jumbled up and confusing. The characters are so creative and well written as well that they draw you into the story and make you want to know more about their lives past and present. All the connections and mysteries keep you guessing as you laugh at the banter and characters’ antics. It has a good mix of scary, funny, and drama-filled scenes.
We start off meeting Celia, an art curator who, with the help of her brother Oscar and friend Adrian, will try to figure out all the mysteries surrounding the spirits and those of the house she bought. This gets really interesting as Celia can see ghosts and has been able to since she was young. She has just accepted this fact over time, which amazed me. Their hunt for answers takes several wild turns and no one expects the events that follow. This is a well written story and many will enjoy it!

This was the first book that I have read from this author. The synopsis drew me in but the story kept me here! The story line was original and it kept me entertained. This book was great from start to finish! It was spooky, mysterious and romantic. The characters in the book were amazing, the support of family and the culture really tied it all together for me.
I was drawn in by the synopsis of this book and truly looked forward to reading a novel with paranormal elements. I tend to gravitate toward a lot of the same authors so I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book, since this author was new to me. Not only did the storyline exceed my expectations, I was really impressed with the author’s writing style. What I enjoyed most, however, were the main characters. Each character was written in a strong way and truly enjoyable. I was also surprised by the range of emotion the story held. There were a lot of entertaining complexities, far more intricate than the “campfire ghost story” I was anticipating. This is definitely a book I’d recommend by an author I will be looking out for.

Events and characters are woven together so well in a way that isn’t always obvious. The ghost element drew me in at first, but the connections in mystery elements blew me away.
I was very invested and couldn’t put the book down. I’ll be looking out for more from this author!

I really enjoyed reading Stars Like Gasoline! This was the first book I’ve read by this author, so I was pleasantly surprised by the complex characters and incredibly detailed world-building. The author expertly combines past and present creating a magnificent flow of the story, as well as a very realistic experience for the reader. I find that most stories only dive deep into one character and the rest support that one, but this book really developed each character incredibly well! I plan on following this author closely because their writing style is nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend picking this one up, especially if you enjoy romantic suspense with a major paranormal theme.
An entertaining read with an intriguing storyline and a host of fascinating characters, which kept me captivated throughout. Florida art curator, Celia purchases the house of her brother’s deceased fiancé, only to find that its haunted. In order to get rid of the malevolent ghosts who are threatening her life and career, she enlists the help of Oscar, her brother and Adrian, his late fiancé’s best friend. Celia discovers a hidden journal from the 1980s belonging to a revered artist, and this is the start of a series of events which involve a dead French artist, a Dutch aerospace heiress, and a missing presumed dead Japanese painter. Things take a sinister turn when Celia and Oscar are threatened by a stalker. Meanwhile, as Adrian and Celia spend time together deciphering the clues they cannot deny their mutual attraction. However, they get the feeling that someone is playing a game with them all and their lives might actually be in danger. This is an enjoyable and engaging read which drew me in from page one. The setting and characters where brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline had a mix of paranormal, mystery, suspense and a slow burn romance, which kept me happily turning the pages.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Stars like Gasoline was a story about haunting and spirits. The details in the story was on point. I really loved how much detailing was put in the book. The book was a page turner for me. The world building and characters was well thought out also.
Liza Snow’s book Obedience had me at the edge of my seat from the first page! There are so many twists and turns, that you never know what’s coming next. I love the characters and the deep understanding that you get from reading Chandler and Cassandra’s points of view. Right from the start I was cheering for Cassandra to get her idol, the magnificent, high-flying Chandler, the master of the silks. I loved the push and pull that these two characters went through, the sexual tension could be cut with a knife as they go back and forth as they got to work together and get to know each other. No matter how much Chandler tried to deny his desire for Cassandra to protect her, the more she wanted him. The more he tried to push her away, the stronger the sexual tension grew. The setting of the story is so beautifully portrayed that I felt like I was right there watching all of the circus acts as well as all the practices with the silks, on the edge of my seat praying no one fell, or had any mishaps. I kept wondering about Cassandra’s mysterious past, and her Uncle who was in prison. What is Chandler hiding in his own personal past that he is trying to protect Cassandra from, and why does his father hate her so? Could their pasts be connected deeper than the two realize, and if so will they ever be able to have their happily ever after? You’ll have to read the book to find out, I’m not spoiling it for you! So excited for the next book in this series to come out in October, the wait is killing me!!! @Brandy Rymer 05/2023
