Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens Is part of the Oscar and Emmy series. It is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 10 years of age. Twins Charlie and Abby have discussed with their mom the opportunity of fostering animals while they volunteer at an animal shelter. When they get the chance to foster three kittens, they learn both the joys and responsibilities of fostering animals. The children learn about responsibility, compassion, and nurturing not just a kitten, but this could be applied to all pets. As with all the books in this series, the author does an amazing job of teaching children about the responsibilities of pet ownership. The bright colorful illustrations really help to bring the story to life.

Cute and informative book! Charlie and Abby volunteered at the shelter, reading to cats. After their first day, they talked to mom about fostering cats, after explaining to the twins what it would entail they agreed to do it. The kids took care of 4 day old kittens with the help of their Cats Oscar and Emmy for the next 12 weeks feeding them, teaching them how to use the litter box, etc…. At 12 weeks, they started interviewing families and got to choose which families take them home. It would be a perfect book to read to kiddos and explain how fostering works out. It’s definitely a great book.

This is a great book for kids and the responsibility of caring for foster pets. A family takes on three young kittens that must be bottle fed and need a lot of care. Oscar and Emmy, who were rescued themselves, nurture the young kittens and help them develop as they grow.

A well written book about fostering kittens that children can read and understand. Abby and Charlie hear about the need for people to foster kittens. After talking about it with their parents, and discussing how their cats Oscar and Emmy might react, they foster 3 kittens to help the kittens get used to being around people and other cats. The kids in the story understand why fostering is needed and learns how rewarding it is while it also can be a lot of work. The illustrations are beautiful and make it easy for the kids to follow. I have read a few books by the author and appreciate how well written it is for young readers.
I read Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens with my 7 year old before bed, initially my 9 year old declined joining us. Shortly after overhearing the first couple pages, my animal loving son was excited to join in. This was a great story to teach fostering and it’s importance all while appealing to young children in a fun way. The kids and I really enjoyed taking turns reading this book and we will be reading more about Oscar and Emmy in the future for sure.
Oscar and Emmy’s humans, Abby and Charlie with the help of Mom, discover how to care for newborn kittens. The family learns what it takes to prepare and foster kittens until they find their furever homes.
Cute story that tells about the responsibilities of fostering kittens. Age-appropriate pictures and wording.
Parent Readers Beware- Your kiddo will likely ask to foster kitten by the end of Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens. I read this book with my 8 year old, and that was his first question, followed by disappointment when mom said no. We have read a couple of books in the series, and always love them. They are great learning tools, but perhaps I should not have chosen this particular topic lol. The illustrations are great- colorful and assist the story. Oscar and Emmy are the cats belonging to twins Abby and Charlie. Their family volunteers at the cat shelter, then decide to step it up a notch and foster a litter of newborn kittens. We are taken through the adventure, learning a little about the process and the growth and development of the kittens. I love that the book addresses the topic of “foster fails” and their mother had an excellent response when asked about keeping them.

Oscar and Emmy love reading to the kittens at the local shelter. When they hear they can foster kittens, they become excited. Their mother finds out exactly what will be needed to foster pets. The author really brings fostering to light. Her story leaves nothing out. Opening the eyes of all interested in helping to foster any pets. The story is clearly written and easy for children to follow. I loved that the children fell in love with the kittens. Even more that the mother talked about not being able to keep the kittens, and helping others, including their own grown cats. Great story and a must have for all libraries.
Another lovely book from this author about caring for cats in the community. This time Oscar and Emmy, and their human family are helping to take care of foster kittens for a local shelter. I don’t think it matter which country you live in there is a huge cat problem from people not neutering their cats at an appropriate age. I myself, in the UK, foster cats/pregnant mum cats and kittens for a local charity so I love that this book is out there for readers to see how important foster work is in the animal sector. The books went through all the responsibilities of looking after kittens and it was written well. The story was accompanied by beautiful illustrations. One thing I will say is do not underestimate the work that goes in hand-rearing kittens – it’s hard work! A great book that’s raising awareness for the need of foster homes for abandoned and stray cats.
This was a cute little story. It was not only entertaining but also informative. I enjoyed learning about what is involved with fostering kittens. This book could inspire children to explore this opportunity and really help shelters everywhere. I recommend this book to anyone with children who love to read and who want to learn more about kittens and how to foster them.
Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens (Oscar and Emmy Series) by Terri Sabol. These books are so fun and educational. This one takes on fostering kittens and all the work and time it takes. Charlie & Abby are learning so much about kittens and fostering. They learn that it takes a lot of time and patience and work. It teaches children that animals are not disposable and that all the shelters are full. This is such a cute, warm story filled with love and compassion. Suitable for young children and the pictures are beautiful! Great for teachers of young children or families!
Beautiful book, the artwork is lovely. I really like how this book showcases how fostering kittens works, the work that goes into taking care of the kittens and the adoption process. There are some things I learned as an adult that I didn’t know before. I didn’t know that when the kittens are still young the mom licks the kitten to encourage bowel movements. Everything is laid out nicely in a timeline from birth until 12 weeks when they get adopted, with updates on the kittens and how they are growing. It is a very clever idea to have the kitten care list for families taking care of kittens. All over a great and informative read!

This is a brilliant story that introduces children to fostering animals in this case, kittens. It shows the essential role fosterers play in the animal’s lives and what is required of fosterers in an age-appropriate way. Highly recommended for children to read and enjoy the story and illustrations.
This was such a cute story that explains to our kids what fostering animals is about. Explains how to do it an what is involved. The author did amazing on the illustrations for this book, it really kept my eye on each page.

These Oscar and Emmy books are always so cute and informative about animals. This one specifically deals with fostering. Charlie and Abby learn so much through fostering three tiny kittens. These books always take real life pet and animal problems and bring them to an age appropriate level for children. Over crowding at animal shelters is a very real, very common thing. This touches on it gently and helps teach about what it’s like to take in kittens, but then to adopt them out so that you can take on more to help with the over population of cats.
5 Stars Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens (Oscar and Emmy Series) by Terri Sabol

I am writing this semi biased as I LOVE cats. This book was super cute and informative about fostering kittens for the target age. I would find this very appropriate to read with kids when considering fostering cats/kittens. I was able to connect with this in my own experience as someone who fostered a litter of kittens. I enjoyed the voice of this book and thought they handled the part where they had to let the kittens go very well. The children handled it better than I did!

Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens is the eighth book in the Oscar and Emmy series by Terri Sabol. It is a uplifting children’s story that is woven around some really cute illustrations. Charlie and Abby (twins) have been volunteering at an animal shelter and discuss the possibility of fostering animals with their mother. The family discusses the responsibilities that fostering would bring, and then the opportunity to foster (3) 4 day-old kittens comes along and they embrace the chance to help. We follow along with the twins, as well as Oscar and Emmy (the family cats) as they help care for the kittens. Fostering the kittens from 4 days old to 12/13 weeks when they are put up for adoption. This series is one that we have enjoyed from the beginning and we were all excited to pick up the next book. Getting back into these characters and their engaging stories took no effort at all. The book has yet another interesting story to focus on, addressing common issues to educate kids told through fun characters. The illustrations in the book really help bring it to life. They make it easy to picture what is going on and easy for children to understand. My kids connected with it and wanted to read the book multiple times. We really enjoyed this story and we are looking forward to the next.
Follow Oscar and Emmy as they learn how to foster baby kittens. This is something I have always been curious about and the way it was showcased in this book was both formative and entertaining. Wonderful illustrations, I think this will be a thought provoking read for young children.

Charlie and Abby learn that there is a need for families to foster kittens at their local shelter. They ask their mom for help, and along with Oscar and Emmy, the family helps to get the kittens off to a great start. Charlie and Abby are responsible for feedings and teaching the kittens to use the litter box. Oscar and Emmy help support Peach, Pear, and Plum as they navigate the world at large.
This is a great book to read with youngsters who may be interested in having a kitten. It could help them realize the responsibilities that come with pet ownership, while also encouraging a fostering situation to begin with to make sure that the placement is a good fit for both parties. This book also briefly discusses spaying/neutering.

Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens is another wonderfully put together story in the series and one not to be missed just like the others. Oscar and Emmy won’t leave anyone out and help to look after the precious cargo whilst the family learn what is required when a new pet or three come into the home in this next instalment of Oscar & Emmy Cat book series. Everything a pet could want, or need is explored. This educational picture books guides you through every aspect of what type of pet is right for you and what is needed to care for the pet. Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens is a well thought out story and draws the reader in. I have fostered cats and always taken in cats from rescue homes to ensure they are well loved within a forever home with me or another. Children will delight in the colourful illustrations as well in the story itself.
What another fun chapter in the Oscar and Emmy series. This time, their mom is fostering kittens. Oscar and Emmy want to help her. She teaches them the rules of fostering. The story takes us from 3-4 days old to 11 weeks, after their spay & neuter surgery, when they are adopted. I really enjoy reading these stories because the other does such a nice job of explaining cat care in a way that children can understand. My grandson always loves to have these books read to him. The story is well-written and easy for kids to follow. The pictures are colorful and can hold attention.
I just love the Oscar and Emmy series! The way Sabol addresses everyday issues and concerns relating to animals and pets but does it such a way that is age-appropriate for children is simply fantastic. I love that her books are honest yet optimistic and hopeful. I appreciate that she writes from the children’s perspectives but still gives voice to the parents. The illustrations are fantastic. I cannot recommend these books and this series enough!
I absolutely adored “Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens” by Terri Sabol. This heartwarming story follows Oscar and Emmy, two loving cats who take on the role of nurturing three bottle-fed kittens from the local animal shelter. The author does a fantastic job of detailing the first three months of kitten development and showing how important it is for people, including children, to play a role in saving animal lives through fostering.
I loved how the family, with the help of Oscar and Emmy, prepare the foster kittens to be adopted by other families. The bond between the cats and the kittens is beautifully portrayed, and it’s heartwarming to see the love and care they provide for the little ones.

Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens is a wonderful children’s book with beautiful illustrations and has valuable teaching lesson to go along. Learning the value of fostering an animal is very important and as Abby and Charlie embrace wanting to help their local shelter foster kittens for the first time to help them be social and adoptable.
I love the lessons that this story teaches and how there may be a lot of work in fostering but it is also valuable to not only the kittens (or any animal), but also helps the shelters as well. Although this story is more for ages 5-10….I highly recommend this story even for the young at heart. This is a wonderful story.
