The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga #1-3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga #1-3)The Gift Saga Trilogy by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Evanthia’s Gift (The Gift Saga Book 1) by Effie Kammenou is a beautifully written old fashioned love story and is hard to put down. This book is an emotional roller coaster ride. One minute you are laughing and loving, the next will see you crying and yelling at the characters and wanting to knock some sense into them. There were alot of tears, sometimes in joy, sometimes in frustration and sometimes in heartache. I learnt so much about the Greek way of life and families and history of the war they endured.
Waiting for Aegina by Effie Kammenou is the second book to this saga and is a well crafted story and the world in which Effie has created is something you can imagine. This story pulls on a lot of emotions and is a lot more power packed and dramatic than Evanthia’s Gift and is an honest and heartfelt portrayal of a young Greek girl who is now a woman and her friends and is told by the main character’s point of view.
Chasing Petalouthes (Chasing Butterflies) is the third and final book and a great way to end the series. Tragedy and heartache, flaws warts and all as well as happiness on this journey called life whilst trying to find how you fit in and your place in the world. Effie has a way to evoke emotions in her readers with her word craft and wonderful characters. has a really wonderful way with words, and a style that lends itself to stories that will evoke emotions in the reader.
If you are looking for beautiful love stories that spans over many years, generation to generation, then this boxset is a must and so is the tissue box!

Chasing Petalouthes (The Gift Saga Book #3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Angela Hayes

Chasing Petalouthes (The Gift Saga #3)Chasing Petalouthes by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chasing Petalouthes (Chasing Butterflies) is the third and final book in The Gift Saga by Effie Kammenou. What a great series this has been, and what a way to bring this saga some closure. There is tragedy, flawed characters, heart ache, trying to find your place in the world- all wrapped up in this ‘next generation’ coming of age story.
The story was every bit as good as the other two, but seemed to manage to etch itself just a little deeper into my heart. This book/series has been so lovingly crafted by Ms. Kammenou. She has a really wonderful way with words, and a style that lends itself to stories that will evoke emotion in the reader.
Ms. Kammenou’s vivid imagery paints a ‘landscape’ using words, bringing this beautiful story/series to ‘life’- the story becomes so visual. The story had me so tied up in knots, emotionally, right from the beginning. I really felt for these characters and what they were, and had been though. I did wonder quite a lot through the story about what the end would have in store for them. This story/ series is wonderful, but the characters are really what makes it so special- and I have enjoyed every step of the way- heartache, happiness and all.
I think this book is my favourite of the series, Ms. Kammenou leaving the best till last! It is a little sad to think this journey is over, but I am also intrigued by what Ms. Kammenou will do next.

Thank you, Ms. Kammenou!

Waiting for Aegina (The Gift Saga, #2) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Jenni Bishop

Waiting for Aegina (The Gift Saga, #2)Waiting for Aegina by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Waiting for Aegina by Effie Kammenou is the second book to this saga and it can be  read as a standalone and there are back references to the characters from the first book  so it doesn’t feel as though you re missing out but I would read Evanthia’s Gift first. It  is a well crafted story and the world in which Effie has created is something you can  imagine. This story pulls on a lot of emotions and is a lot more power packed and  dramatic than Evanthia’s Gift and is an honest and heartfelt portrayal of a young Greek  girl who is now a woman and her friends and is told by the main character’s point of  view.    All in all Waiting for Aegina is a really enjoyable read.
