New Haven is a quiet town that begins to see too many tragedies. The families in the community have always been close but things begin to change. This mystery gave me the creeps. A good beginning to a series.

The Silent Forest is Book Two in The House on the Hill Series. It is psychological thriller with action, mystery, intrigue, suspense, secrets, lies, tension, and danger. This book picks up where the first book left off so if you have not yet read the first book, I highly recommend that you do because it introduces the characters and gives their backstory. Set in a small town the story follows a cast of eclectic characters who are trying to settle into a new normal after a series of tragedies. Kaia is trying to find answers to the mysterious disappearances and unsolved cases in town by following a trail of cryptic clues. As she does so she unravels some dark secrets that lead her into danger. The Woods family has taken in a lost boy who seems innocent but may be harboring some deep, dark secrets. The story is edgy, dark, twisted, and full of tension that builds up to a climatic ending setting the stage for the next book in the series.

Loved this page-turner! This is the second book in the series and I may have liked it even better than the first. This series is amazing and I highly recommend it for all thriller lovers!
The author develops relatable characters and a plot that sucks you in. The author is particularly skilled in creating suspense and a story that will haunt you. I really enjoyed the alternating points of view, similar to the first book and the depth the author creates to the characters and the story. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through (and past) the end. I can’t wait for the next one

The Woods family is back as we visit New Haven once again. A series of unsolved cases are piling up. Time is running out. This was a good follow up book in this series. Make sure to read The Misery House before diving into this book.

This is the second book in The House on the Hill series, and it was absolutely incredible! I love thrillers and being kept on the edge of my seat, so this seemed right up my alley. I fell into my reading groove fairly quickly with the flow of the story feeling natural. It was impossible to put down once I dove in because the suspense was killing me. I had to know what was going to happen! Kaia is an amazing character that is strong and relatable. I highly recommend picking up the first book in the series before jumping into this one as you may end up a little confused without it. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

The Silent Forest is the second book in The House on the Hill series. I do recommend reading the first book first but you can jump in with this book. Personally I think this book was even better than the first. I was glued to this story and had to stay up for just one more chapter! Again the author writes in multiple POVs which sometimes I don’t like but it really was perfect this time. I felt more connected to each character. I was glad to see this book answered some questions I had at the end of the first book, but left me with more questions! I can not wait to get my hands on the third book! If you like psychological thrillers that leave your heart racing, then go start this series today!

I grabbed this book right up after I finished the first one. And this one just like the first did not disappoint. this was another suspense building book that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reding. This book does build on from the first book so I highly recommend that you read the fist one, or you will differently be lost for sure in this book. A girl is still missing, A sheriff still not liking the whole situation, danger in every corner, secrets being exposed the maybe should have been left unsaid, and still that darn house. So, if you like not sleeping then I highly recommend this book, but be prepared for suspense, mystery, hatred, secrets, getting mad at somethings, and page turning reading then this is for you.

The Silent Forest is book two of David Kummer’s The House On The Hill Trilogy. David has truly mastered the subtleties and misdirection of any good psychological thriller. Not only that, but the characters are beautifully written, and really make you feel like you’ve always known them. I definitely recommend reading these in order, as the events continue just a few weeks after The Misery House ends. Looking forward to getting my hands on book 3, these cliffhangers are killing me!

The Misery House by David Kummer is the first book in The House On the Hill series, a psychological thriller, with beautiful mixes of horror and suspense. These characters were beautifully written, the setting so real I was practically right there, and the dynamics worked so well everything just fell together like a puzzle. I loved the split POV’s, this authors writing style is immaculate and will definitely leave you paranoid. I’m diving right into book 2 of this trilogy as soon as possible!!

The Silent Forest (The House on the Hill Book 2) by David Kummer. HOLY MOLY! This book was intense! Its not one to read while you are alone in the dark or you will not sleep. This is my favorite genre so I knew I would like it but I LOVED it. This book picks up right where the previous one leaves off so I do recommend reading the 1st book before this one. Its a few weeks after the first book ends and Alison is still missing but Kaia still believes she is out there. Kaia begins a search on her own and while searching she digs up some things about people in this town that they would probably rather stayed secret. Will Kaia end up putting herself in danger digging up all these secrets? The sheriff is not happy that these secrets are coming out as are several others in town. These people could be dangerous if crossed. Hang on to the edge of your seat because this book will have you jumping from the get go. Such a awesome thrilling, scary story. I can’t wait for the next one!

The Silent Forest: A shocking psychological thriller with an unforgettable ending (The House on the Hill) by David Kummer 6/29, review by Amanda Gray
The Silent Forest begins right where Misery house ends, using the same format of the previous book, each chapter from a different member of the Wood’s family point of view. Each member of the town is charged from the events in the previous and none of them for the better. This book takes you deeper into the depths of the malevolent house on the hill. It takes you on a journey to find if Allison is alive or dead in the house. This page turner answers the question at the very end and leaves you needing more answers as you eagerly await the next book in this series. The feeling it leaves you with, is that there may be no happy endings here.

Misery House by David Kummer, review by Amanda Gray This novel starts right away with mystery and foreboding. Every member of the Woods’ family serves as a protagonist. The story is told through each family member, giving a more complete picture of the history in the small town and its mysterious events. The book gives Stephan King vibes, he loves to tell a creepy story from a small town. This town goes back generations, and rarely see’s newcomers. The townsfolk are not welcoming to anyone that hasn’t always been there. A large, empty house sits on a hill overlooking the town, there are many stories about the house and none of them good. As the book ends, it leaves you with unanswered questions and eager for the next one.

This is the second in the House on the Hill series and I highly recommend reading the first book before picking this one up. I didn’t and I was confused…not in a “I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here” way, but more in a “I think this has already been explained and I missed it” way. I will say the beginning of the book is slow and it takes awhile to get in to it but once it does, you won’t want to put it down. I’m definitely going to go back and read the first book so that I can fill in some of the missing pieces to the story. If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will haunt you then pick up this book (and I’m going to go ahead and say series) because you won’t want to put it down. I love how Kummer writes his characters; they are extremely relatable…like live down the road, next-door-neighbor relatable. This is the second book in The House On The Hill Series. This is a great psychological thriller with hints of horror. This is the second book and you do definately need to read book 1- The Misery House to follow the story completely.
This was a gripping read right from the start. The author really does an amazing job of writing a story that captivates a reader and doesn’t let them go. I wasn’t able the put it down and the ending and left me wanting more.
This story continues a few weeks after the 1st book. Alison is still missing and Kaia doesn’t believe she is dead. Kaia takes it upon herself to keep search and is looking everywhere to find her uncovering some old town secrets along the way. While she is searching people are going missing in the town and Sherif Wheeler is starting to struggle under the pressure. Kaia’s search takes her to speak to the one man she never wanted to see again to find answers. After leaving random clues will Malaki finally give her something that will blow this whole thing wide open? Can he even he trusted? Is Alison still alive? And what exactly is happening in New Haven?

The Silent Forest starts three weeks after The Misery House ends. There are spoilers ahead from the previous book so please read The Misery House first. The Woods family has been changed since the tragic events that occurred at the house on the hill. Nate feels that he has grown older, Kaia is trying to find her best friend, and Cliff and Naomi and struggling to keep their relationship thriving. More dark secrets are being revealed. This book kept the same unease as the first book and helped to continue the story. It borders on the edge of supernatural since most of the occurrences are unexplained this time. Some pieces are starting to fit together but now I have more questions than answers, so I need to read the third and final book in the series. I recommend this series and look forward to a satisfying conclusion.

This is book two of this series. Just like book one, this one has kept me on my toes the entire time. There is always something spooky about a house in the Forrest and this one isn’t any different. The characters were also creepy to me, especially Rhys and Malaki. The book got creeper the further I got into it. I never thought a building could be creepy but its like everything else in this story, even buildings get creepy. I can’t wait to read book 3 and see what S.H has in store for Kaia Woods. I am definitely going to be rereading both books before I read book 3 when it comes out.

In this follow up story to The Misery House, Allison has been missing for awhile and everyone is starting to give up. That is, except for Kaia. Questions we’ve had burning in our minds are finally getting answered but they also lead to more questions, more mysteries, more missing people, and a whole lot of deep dark buried secrets.
This one is a bit chilling right from the get go. It is slow in some areas in the beginning but quickly picks up and then you won’t be able to put it down until you’re done. This one will stick with you for a bit while you digest all that’s happened and wonder if there will be a continuation to this story!

What an amazing book, I loved the thrill of this second book in The House on the Hill series! If you are looking for a good scary book, with a plot that will have you jumping at every little sound, this is the book for you. The Silent Forest is the second book of The House on the Hill series and CAN be read as a standalone, but I would recommend grabbing the first book ahead of time. Early on I was a little lost, and it DOES start slow, but after about halfway it picks up quickly. (This is why I say read the first book, some things will make the second book easier to understand, but it can be followed without the first book too.) The main character, Kaia, is a great example of resilience, strength, dedication and loyalty. When her friend, Allison, turns up missing, Kaia refuses to give up hope, even when everyone else has. As the story develops, secrets begin to emerge, and some would prefer the secrets stay hidden. This is my first read from this author, and I will definitely be going back to read the first book, and hoping for a third to emerge as well. The writing is believable and if you enjoy psychological thrillers, this one checks all of the boxes.

This is book two in the House on the Hill series and oh, what a thriller. From the very beginning, I felt the suspense building and had a feeling that the alleged gentlemen in the woods made me question them immediately.
The suspense building is intense in this book with cases building up and honestly it seemed a bit overwhelming to the storyline. The sweet little town is definitely a nice atmosphere for this book but with most horror thrillers, things get a bit freaky.
This was definitely a slow burn and worth the wait, as you’ll see later in the book. I think the author did a great job with this thriller and think fans of this genre will enjoy the series.

I’ve already got the heebie jeebies from the cover alone ! I also know what happened in the first book 😜🙈 I’ve got my cuddle buddy ready and I went in …..
I would recommend that you read the first book before attempting this one 📚😉
New Haven is in trouble and very troubles as well cases and bodies are piling up ! Allison is still missing and everyone has sort of given up all but Kaia that is and she determined to find her and all the answers but by doing this things are being unearthed ….
While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book this one was almost better , can I risk saying that ?! I had chewed my nails and my nail tech was not charmed but I couldn’t help myself 🤣🙈 I mean we have that frightful house and a Forrest to contend with !

The Silent Forest is the second book in The House on the Hill series. This novel is divided into two parts and each chapter is from a different character’s point of view including the town of New Haven. I didn’t realize the book was the second in the series at first, but eventually caught on. You don’t have to read the first book but it does help close some plot questions. The novel is a psychological thriller that’s unsettling and keeps you questioning about what’s going on. I’m interested to see where the third book in The House on the Hill series will take the reader.

This book is a follow on from The House on the Hill. I would highly recommend reading these books in order to fully understand and enjoy the events of this story. As soon as I started reading I was pulled right back into these characters and everything that happened. This story is just as gripping and exciting as the first book. I was completely caught up with everything happening and couldn’t wait to see how things would play out. I was never fully sure where the author would take us next and that for me made this book even better to read. I loved seeing the character development from the first book into this one. I really felt like I got to know them even more. This whole series is such a thrilling read and I would highly recommend it.

I’m not much of a horror reader, but I freaking love this series. I love the writing, the story, the characters, everything about it. I love that it’s more thriller than horror, but it still just keeps you thrown on your toes while you’re reading. Of course, read the first books in the series before you read this one! I actually had to jump into a re-read of so i could keep everything straight. Fantastic books. Highly recommend!

Holy Smoke! This book just pulled me in and those last few chapters? I could NOT PUT this book DOWN until I reached the end. While its a soft ending( because there is another book) I did get some answers but after reading the acknowledgements….I think the next one will be crazier and dare I say scarier. This one has a lot of unknown and there were many moments where I had chills and was enthralled, scared (just like the characters) and looking for untrustworthy words from them all.
This is one suspenseful story! This is book 2 of the series and I highly suggest reading the first as this one takes place right after and there are many references to what previously happened. Looking forward to the next book as I am eager for all the answers on that house.
I am just sitting here going Wow! Just Wow! I hope I don’t have nightmares but dang what a good book!

This is the second book in the series. I recommend reading the first if you haven’t. Not only would you be able to understand this story better, but it’s a great book. This book is even better though! The author keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I also felt the need to pull my feet up so no one could get them. haha This is a story I will not likely forget for a long time. (And my memory is equal to that of Dory!)

The Silent Forest is the second instalment in The House on the Hill series by David Duane Kummer. This thrilling story picks up a few weeks after the events in the first book, so if you haven’t read ‘The Misery House’ (Book #1) yet, then I highly recommend that you do as there is a lot of important information contained there that you will need to know in order to fully appreciate this book. ‘The Silent Forest’ is a psychological drama with suspenseful developments, some horror themes, a small-town setting, tension, intrigue, mystery, dark secrets, discovery, and high stakes. Allison is still missing and Kaia refuses to give up, she’s on a quest to unearth some answers. With cryptic clues, and more missing person cases piling up, time is running out. I thought Book #1 was tense, but Mr. Kummer definitely turned up the intensity here — and that ending- only means that Book #3 can’t come quickly enough for my liking, so I can find out how it all plays out — there are things I need to know, and I am hoping to find all the answers there. Bring on Book #3!!! Happy Reading…

We are back in New Haven. Allison going missing has set off a chain of events. New Haven is trying to move on, but Kaia refuses to stop. In this book she is finding answers but is really causing things to become unsettling. More residents are missing. More cases on Sheriff Wheelers desk. Many dark secrets are hidden in New Haven, but how long will they remain buried?
I absolutely devoured both books 1 and 2 in this series. The suspense, fear, tension is all very masterfully built and I was almost unable to read it fast enough. I don’t want to give anything away, it is a total treat to get to uncover the secrets as they unfold. Can’t wait to finish book 3!
