My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss Man: A Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4) by Teddy Hester is a five star novel. I have not read any of the other books in this series but cannot wait to go back and start from the beginning. This book can be read as a standalone. I loved the guarantee in the synopsis that everything would be wrapped up nicely in the end. Sometimes in series, there are good or bad cliffhangers that makes you not want to get involved. I liked that the author was able to be upfront about this one and let us know it wasn’t like that. Jack is a workaholic that feels like he is constantly trying to prove himself. This works well for him though because he is definitely able to prove his worth in the construction field. Jillian is also in a place trying to prove herself. When she first meets Jack, she isn’t sure what to think. This smoldering, sexy man cannot be her boss. How can she work for this guy and not be attracted to him. As they get on each other’s nerves, they also realize how irresistible they are to one another. See how this story continues to unfold in this book that hooks the reader right from the beginning!

The Boss Man (Manly Series 4) by Teddy Hester – Review by Moriah Venable

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is the fourth novel in The Manly Series by Teddy Hester. This is my first novel by this author.

Jack, who moves from North Carolina to Texas, is a construction worker to help with a construction job that is behind on a deadline.

Jillian, who has overprotective brothers just wants to feel like she can contribute and be equal in her family eyes.

When she is hired to be on Jack’s crew, will sparks fly? Can the two have a happy ending or will Jack push her away?

I really enjoyed the novel. From the beginning, the writing and voice of Jack pulled me in. The cover also caught my attention making me wonder in what direction this book would go.

I will admit that the names of the characters pulled me out a little cause I kept thinking about was the nursery rhyme but once I got use to and the story progressed, it didn’t bother me anymore.

I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was not expecting this book to blow me away like it did. I haven’t read anything by Teddy Hester before I definitely will now! This is the 4th book in the series but I was comfortable reading it as a standalone but with that being said and how much I loved it, I will definitely be picking up the prior books to read the other stories.

Jack is a very smart and very successful man. He does whatever he has to do to succeed in his business. He has a deadline to make and he’s willing to move mountains to obtain his goal with this new contract he’s acquired. Then we meet Jillian and the sparks between the two are off the page. Jillian has a point to prove when she accepted the job with Jack and she won’t let a bossy man stand in her way. As the sparks start heating up the page, someone is lurking in the background trying to sabotage Jack’s project.

I loved this story from the very beginning. I loved every aspect of this book and I can’t wait to go back and read the first 3 books in this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author and i think it was a good place to start. The boss man is a suspenseful romance in the Manly series and is the fourth book. The two main characters are Jack DePaul and Jillian Vickers. Jack owns a construction company that has a fast approaching deadline. Jack and Jillian meet at a party and the chemistry between the two of them is instant and on fire. Someone is trying to keep Jack from meeting his deadline and that cannot happen. Will he be able to finish it on time? Will he and Jillian be able to be together? I enjoyed the interactions and banter between those two and i was eager to get to the end of the book.
I would recommend this book to a friend.

This can be read as a standalone. I was instantly hooked from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. This is Jack and Jillian’s story. These two have some serious chemistry between them and the way they banter between themselves had me cracking up. Jack is determined to keep his company going and prove he can. She’s a very determined to also prove she can do it. Can Jack meet his deadline on time? Can Jillian and Jack have a relationship?Find out the answers to these questions and more I highly recommend this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is book 4 in the Manly Series by Teddy Hester, but it is the first and only I have read so far. Upon completing this book, I went back to read descriptions of the other 3, but they don’t seem to overlap (though I wont know for sure until I read them). They appear to be stand alone books, and I can vouch, The Boss Man can be enjoyed on its own. The two main characters have a lot in common, and I think that is what makes their growing relationship so much fun to read. Both Jack and Jillian come from a large family, and have made it their mission to prove they can be successful on their own. Jack owns his own construction business that sweeps in to help other companies meet their deadlines. He runs a tight ship, but his employees respect him. Jillian’s family has their hands in several pots, but she has taken on this year’s grapefruit harvest, on top of trying to be a journalist. When her piece lands her working as Jack’s assistant, they both find themselves distracted, in the best way possible.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“This woman will argue with the grim reaper when the time comes, I have no doubt.”

The Boss Man is the fourth book in the Manly series by Teddy Hester. I have to be honest here and say that although this book was a little slow to get going, I really did love what came once the pace picked up. So, I felt that it still deserved a 5 star rating, despite the fact that it didn’t immediately grab me. The author has woven a wonderful storyline with interesting and loveable characters, intrigue, some drama, mystery, suspense, spice, humour, and romance.
Jack DePaul is the construction world’s latest boy wonder. At 27, he’s building a highly successful business with his innovative ideas. This latest project brings him to Texas, where his skills will be put to the test in every way possible. There is a lot riding on the outcome of this job- and it has the power to make or break him. He has a critical deadline to meet, so the last thing he needs are any distractions. But, distraction is what he gets, in the form of a beautiful, headstrong Texan who’s about to give him a run for his money. Will she end up costing him the project, as well as his heart?
Jillian Vickers has a business degree, manages her family’s organic citrus farm, as well as running a popular blog. Her latest article is an in-depth look at the new green energy project that is in the pipeline. She’s determined to get as much information as she can to put into the blogpost. But interviewing the new trouble-shooter goes a bit awry and she ends up agreeing to work for him in exchange for the opportunity to interview his team members. She’s attracted to him from the beginning, but he’s only there for the short term, so anything that starts will have a use-by-date. Can she put her heart on the line for a short fling? What happens when things go missing from the site and sabotage seems to be the order of the day? With so much at risk, what will the future hold?
This was such a fun read. The banter, quips and antics had me smiling and laughing out loud. He story is told from a duel perspective, so we really get a great feel for both the lead characters.
The chemistry between these two was fantastic, there are some sexy, sizzling moments that singed my kindle.
I would definitely recommend this book to all lovers of romance!

Thank you, Teddy Hester

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jilly is the type of female I love to hate beautiful, smart and spoiled. I kind of felt like her purpose in the story wasn’t needed. Like the author couldn’t figure out a way to put her into the story that would make sense for her to be around all the time. With that being said I liked the story because you get to see this controlling guy take a step back and relax. You see this guy who is used to getting things his way stop and think of a different approach. This is a first for me reading about this type of work. The bones that go into building something from the ground up. I liked that Jack’s team was the clean up crew they came in and got stuff done. There were some funny moments and the guys all preening like peacocks for Jilly’s attention was fun. The combination that Jilly and Jack made was interesting because he grew up the baby of the family trying to make his presence known. While she was sheltered and spoiled. You can tell that she was out of her comfort zone when she needed to use the restroom. Overall I recommend this story for a quick light read.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man By Teddy Hester was a 4 star read for me. This book mostly took place over a 2 week period.
Jack DePaul who runs AmerItalia first met Jillian at a party where he met most of the Lone Star Contractor guys. He was so close to taking Jillian to his bed but, due to a phone call, that never happened.

A journalist named JT Vickers is on site in the morning for an interview and to speak with some of the guys for an article. When Jack meets with JT Vickers, he cannot believe his eyes. It’s the beautiful woman Jillian he can’t seem to get off his mind.

She is there and wants time to be able to speak with some of his men but, on a job as big as they are on with a deadline quickly approaching, that doesn’t seem possible.
Jack finally offers her a job as his secretary. That way he can see her, but not pursue anything with her because of his rule about staying away from his employees.
Let’s see how well that one works out!! Jillian is a wildcat as her calls her. As she gets madder and angrier, he wants her more and more. Will they be able to table their lust for each other for another week and a half?
Felix is the pipefitter supervisor who is also a good friend of Jillian’s. When things go missing on site, Felix is the first person that Jack can think of that would try to sabotage his project.
When the culprit is found out, everyone is shocked. What will happen when Jillian needs to stop working for Jack with AI and go do her own thing. Will she be able to get all the info she needs for the blog?
I liked most of the characters. I thought the book was well written and the story kept me fairly entertained!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man, by Teddy Hester is the fourth book in the Manly Series. This romantic suspense novel was a pleasure to read. The premise of the book was fun and the way the author laid out the story and introduced the characters felt well thought out. Jack DePaul is a man that knows what his goals are and what he is willing to do to meet those vs distractions he attempts to avoid. Jillian Vickers is a strong feminine character with a similar personality. I liked how the author paired these two characters and the immediate sparks that have the potential to be explosive. The suspense added in was a perfect touch and gave the story that bit more to make it a compelling read and entertaining through the end.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read from this and she blew me away. I love good contemporary romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the fourth book in the Manly Series. It can be read as a stand alone but there are prior characters in this book as well. I will be reading the prior books so I can understand the other characters better. I was hooked to this story right from the beginning. These characters had me up all hours of the night. It only took me a few hours to devour this great book.

Jack DePaul is a very smart man and gets what he wants. He is very excited about his new contract. This could make him or break him. Jack’s main goal is to make the deadline until he meets the sassy Jillian. He feels the chemistry right away with her. When he hires her to his crew things get interesting. Jack has a lot on his plate and when things go missing he needs to fine out who is trying to destroy him. Will Jack make his deadline or will it all fall apart?

Jillian Vickers has always been protected by her father and brothers. She wants to do things herself and when she gets the opportunity to do a inside story she jumps on it. Jillian is all about the story up until she meets her new boss. She instantly feels a pull towards him. When Jillian gets to know Jack better sparks begin to fly but what will her protective family think of them? Will Jillian be able to find her independence or will she be continued to be bossed around?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, humor, and mystery. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Jack is a handsome but young businessman that loves his job. He is very headstrong but Jillian gives him a run for his money. Jillian is a beautiful caring woman that feels suffocated by her family. She wants some independence. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is Book 4 in The Manly Series from author Teddy Hester – even though these books are part of a series, these books can be read as stand-alone and still be enjoyed just as much.

This book was captivating and I was totally compelled while reading it. This plot was well written and this author had created some brilliant characters. This was a short read, and at times I think it could have been better if it was a full length novel just so that we had more depth to certain parts in the read, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it.

Each characters that was created for this story was relatable and I loved reading Jack & Jillian’s journey through this read. They have incredible banter throughout and an undeniable connection from the get-go – I definitely would love to have more from them though. I liked the little twist of the suspense in the novel, it added another level to this read and it was something I did enjoy. I loved how it was written and how you got the countdown to Jack’s deadline.

This was a great introduction to this author for me, and I will look forward to see what else this author brings to this series.

Well, well, well, The Boss Man is the fourth book in the Manly series by Teddy Hester that one can read as a standalone. I think the writer chose the names for the main characters while thinking of a nursery rhyme … luckily the story is very far from it! It was my first encounter with this writer and it was a very fortunate one indeed …
Our couple of the story is a bossy construction Wunderkind Jack De Paul and the baby of the family Jill(ian) Vickers (who is NOT a spoilt primadonna!) … I am sure you can get the drift already! Add to it all a bit of a havoc wrecking saboteur, reputation to hold up, drama, flaming chemistry and … you will sit at the edge of your seat until you get to the last page!
Let’s be serious though, it is a well written emotional story filled with banter and pursuit of happiness that will leave no one cold!

This was a quick fun read that I enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I would really like to read the first three books in the series. This book can be easily read as a standalone.
I thought that the writing was engaging, smooth; the pace was fast and flowed well. It did take me a little to get into the story and warm up to the characters but once I did I found it hard to put down until I had finished. Jack and Jilly had a good amount of chemistry which led to a few steamy encounters. These I thought were well written and not over the top like I have read in the past. I liked that there was a little bit of mystery thrown into the story something which I definitely wasn’t expecting.
A good short read, perfect if you are looking for something a little steamy with good characters.

The Boss Man
A Contemporary Romantic
Suspense Novel
The Manly Series Book 4
By Teddy Hester
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full length contemporary romance. Can be read as a standalone. Just a plain and simple love story, with a twist.

Jillian Vickers is a protected daughter and sister to her family. She wears many hats in her day to day life. Helping in the family businesses, writing the article one green energy, and taking care of the grapefruit harvest. She has no time for romance or another male to push her around. Working a nightshift to get information on the article she is writing, is very important. Until the weather changes and the pickers are at the ranch. So let’s throw Jack into the mix and watch the the story unfold.

Teddy Hester loves writing about all things romantic. She breaks her stories down and makes you fall in love with her characters. I love Jillys strength and how she does not want to be judged by her gender. Teddy Hester caught my interest on page one, and kept me turning those pages. Hooray for another new author for me. I look forward to read more from Teddy Hester.

The Boss Man: A Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel is the fourth book in The Manly Series by Teddy Hester. This book can be read as a standalone, I know this because this is the first book I have read by Ms. Hester, and I had know problem following this story. I am now planning to go back and read the first three books in this series. This book had me hooked from the very first page, and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. It was sweet and sexy with a little mystery and suspense added in. Jack DePaul and Jillian Vickers had such chemistry and the characters were believable and down to earth. I enjoyed the witty banter and candid conversations. I love when a book makes me laugh out loud and this book did just that, but there was also mystery and intrigue that kept me guessing. This was a well rounded book that I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun, fast paced romance.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is a contemporary romantic suspense novel, that is the fourth book in Teddy Hester’s Manly Series. The novel follows the characters Jack and Jillian, and their unique, head strong personalities. Jack’s a bad boy and Jilly is opinionated wildcat, which often had both of them fighting for dominance over one another. The ending of the blurb does spoil the novel for readers, and I would suggest avoiding it as much as possible, if you hate spoilers.
The story itself was very engaging and highly enjoyable. All the characters where well rounded and their interactions will either leave you laughing for days, or get you all hot and bothered. Especially when its conversations between Jilly and Jack, you could cut their sexual tension with a knife. The book is on the lower end of the steamy scale. Majority of the ‘steam’ is through Jack and Jilly flirting with each other, and some frisky business. Whilst being a low-level, it was still incredibly fun and quick to read. I devoured the book in a single afternoon, as it felt like I was watching a rom-com.
I rate The Boss Man 4/5 stars.

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is the 4th book in The Manly Series by Teddy Hester. This novel is described by the author as a contemporary romantic suspense novel. This series of books are standalones and can be read in any order. I had not previously read any of this authors work and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Our 2 main characters Jack DePaul and Jillian Vickers are fantastic characters that really draw you in to their story. Jillian feels smothered by her father and 2 brothers and is determined to prove to them that she is a smart independent woman who doesn’t need them meddling in everything she does.
Jack DePaul owns his own construction company and has been drafted in to get a huge project delivered on time. Jillian wants to write an article about his company and the work they are doing. Jack makes her become part of his crew to get her story.
The chemistry between them is sizzling and they both try their hardest to keep things professional. Jack needs to concentrate on the job and doesn’t need the distraction of a woman preventing him from getting the job done on time. Once they give in to the attraction between them, nothing runs smoothly. There are so many obstacles in their way, most notably Felix who works for the company that Jack is doing the work for. He also happens to be a close friend of her brothers and doesn’t think Jack is good enough for her.
It’s a fascinating read and the plot will keep you gripped right up to the very end. If this story is anything to go by then I’d really like to read more of this author’s work.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Boss Man by Teddy Hester is the fourth book in the Manly Series. Though part of a series it can be read as a standalone which was a good thing for me since I had not heard of this series until this book. I do however intend to go back to meet the other DePaul boys.

Jack is the baby of the family and seems to have the most to prove. Not sure if that is a youngest child trait or not since I’m the oldest. It was apparent from the get go that he needed to show the world, especially his family he can do this.

Jillian had my sympathy, the only girl being raised by her dad and two older brothers couldn’t have been easy for her, but she fights to become an independent strong woman who knows what she wants.

I loved their story. I do wish more loose ends were tied up for me. I’m just nosy like that.

Definitely give this book a try.

This book was good. First one I have read in the series. I found that it was a good romance in it and was just enough steamy. I was a little lost felt it was a little slow for me in spots but it was a good book. You can tell the author did take time with this book and that they really enjoy writing. There was good detail and good description to what they really wanted to portray to the reader. I think I’ll read the others and come back to this one again. Good book.
