The Taste of Light (The Winemakers Book 2) by Giovanna Siniscalchi – Review by Jules Herbert

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A simple way to describe this book would be to say that the wonderful story woven by this extremely talented author will remind you of the power of redemption. I have said it before about this amazing author and I will say it again, her talent for creating such vivid images in your mind, leaving you feeling as if you really are in the time and place she has created, is truly captivating. The details contained within the story are so amazing and add so much to the reading experience. This is the second book in this particular series and can be read as a standalone but honestly do yourself a favour and read book 1 as well. You won’t regret a single moment spent reading any book this talented author writes.

After reading book 1 in this series I was really looking forward to this one and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author transported back in time to 1872 Portugal. I love historical romance reads but for me this series has been so great to read because of the setting – I usually read about London and very rarely anywhere else. The author paints an amazing historical picture with her wonderful words and I loved every minute of what I read. I was looking forward to finding out more about Pedro and I loved his POV chapters, I really felt as though I got to know him and yes I did end up falling in love with him! Anne was a sweet character, she may have been young and a little naive but there was just something about her and I loved her and Pedro together!
Overall a great second book in this series and one that I would highly recommend!

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a beautifully written romance sent in Portugal in 1872. It is the second book in The Winemakers series but it can be read as a standalone and still really enjoyed.I can’t express how beautiful the author’s language and story telling in. There is so much emotion put into every page that the reader cant help but feel every emotion along with the characters which makes the story completely captivating.
It is a historical romance and the author does an amazing job of transporting the reader back to those times. Our main characters Pedro and Anne seem such an unlikely match at first but as the story progresses we see the same strength and determination in them back.

This story is action packed as Pedro’s past comes back to haunt him and he struggles to make amends for it all. When his marriage to a princess falls through and he is accused of an attempt on the Kings life he is forces to go on the run.
Anne is a young sweet innocent girl who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and finds herself on an adventure with Pedro that she never expected or imagined. She may seem young but inside she had a fire and a determination which makes her a fascinating character to read about. Add to this the fact that she is the sister of something Pedro has had problems with in his past, could their meeting be a coincidence? A way to maybe make amends? Or just another mistake that Pedro could pay for dearly.

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“The Taste of Light” is intense, yet beautiful which is exactly what I expected having already read “The True Purpose of Vines.” The villain from book 1 is the main character in book 2, an interesting twist.
The depth of the characters is remarkable. Pedro, Count of Almoster, is dark and broody, yet we see just enough light in him to root for his deliverance. Nothing in Pedro’s life has been easy, but he is so much more that what has happened to him. Anne is more than the young and naïve girl initially presented. She is resilient, resourceful, and the angel Pedro needs. Their story is a beautiful and passionate despite Pedro’s rocky past with Anne’s brother and sister-in-law.
The world-building in “The Taste of Light” was phenomenal and beautifully done. The descriptions are perfect and create a brilliant picture for the reader. The final scene with Ulrich seemed more like a movie than a book due to the descriptions, bringing the scene to life. Intense is an understatement. “The Taste of Light” is an extraordinarily stunning story of deliverance for the dark Count of Almoster.

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I actually enjoyed The Taste of Light better than the previous book in this series. The author wrote a redemption piece for Pedro. He definitely ended up the villain in the previous book. Again the tale comes together beautifully. Forbidden Fruit, one he can’t have. Why do authors suck me in with that narrative? Illegal fall for it everytime.
Anne decides to help her brother and sister in law out by spreading the news to the neighbors on how to combat the Phylloxera. When she comes across an estate that’s beautiful but the crops have been ravaged but Phylloxera. She ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up on an adventure. Of not only self discovery but of her heart as well.
Pedro was ready to strike a deal with the king to marry the princess. Until his past came back to haunt him. While on the run for being accused of an attempt on the King’s life. Trying to clear his name as well as protect the beautiful woman by his side becomes a bigger task and adventure than he realized. Her life has been threatened because of him. She’s the sister of the man he hates for stealing Julia. Can’t be coincidence, could it? Sounds more like Karma to me. What he doesn’t expect is to lose control. Anne has the power to bring him to his knees, and he can’t let that happen.
What happens between Anne and Pedro?
Does Pedro make everything right?
The growth of Pedro’s character in this book is leaps and bounds. I didn’t care for him prior to reading this book, but now I have a soft spot.
If you enjoy a romance adventure this book is for you. And you don’t necessarily have to read the previous book. It works very well as a standalone novel.

This was my first book by the author, but it definitely won’t be the last! This story has everything, action, humor, drama, romance, tension, and redemption all rolled into one amazing story. The author’s vivid descriptions of the scenery added to the beautiful romance she weaved together. She foreshadowed Pedro and Anna’s love story with the medieval love story of Dom Pedro and Ines de Castro, which just added to the intense suspension of their love story. You really get a sense of the characters and want to see them get their happily ever after. This is absolutely a must read if you are a lover of historical romance.

Redemption is the name of the game and Pedro came to play! In book one I despised Pedro. When starting book two, I did not think I would have any other feelings for him. Then Anne enters the picture, and the force between them is unmatched! Lo and behold, Pedro has a tender side! The book is jam-packed with action, suspense, laughter, tears, and romance that will take your breath away! What a beautiful continuation of the Winemaker’s series and a way to turn our hearts and make us see a character in a different light! This series keeps winning me over. Book three here I come!

The Taste of Light is the second book in The Winemakers series. Redemption and a chance at love are the topics of this book. Pedro, whom I did not like) in book one pulls at the heartstrings in this book. I did not want to like him but fell for him anyways. When he meets the beautiful light that is Anne, we start to see him for himself. The story is set in a beautiful location and fills my need for a historical fiction story with romance. I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I am really hooked after this book. I love seeing characters evolve or prove me wrong about my initial impression of them. Pedro did all of that and more. Swoon-worthy story leaving me wanting more. I look forward to the next book in this lovely series.

This novel gives the reader a whirlwind of emotions, tension, drama, and redemption. The text is full of poetic prose that fully engages the reader page after page. I love being pulled into 19th century Portugal scenery with the passion between Anne and Pedro! I have a soft spot for the tortured hero in a story and the tension between the two kept me on the edge of my seat!

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers Book 2) by Giovanna Siniscalchi. This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first book. This is the story of Pedro and Anne who are in the first book a tiny bit. Pedro has had a hard life, growing up with a very abusive father and that has made him tough. When he meets Anne its not under the best of circumstances and they have to flee together. Anne is the total opposite of Pedro, she is fun and full of life and sees the good in everything and everyone. Will they be able to flee the false accusations against them and will they fall in love in the process. This book is a page turner and will leave you guessing up to the very end. It’s also very haunting. I felt like I was in the wine country of Portugal and the writing was so beautiful it takes to that time and place. If you love historical romances then pick this book up!

I couldn’t ask for more in a romance book than including two of my favorite things. This book is set in my most favorite place to go to on holiday and also it’s a romance I really couldn’t ask for anything else. To make it even more it is a historical romance which is one of my top favorite genres. I like how the author is able to bring the back story to add to the present of the characters. I was really drawn into the drama of the book and hooked. I really didn’t want to put it down. The author is able to bring the characters to life and draw the reader into the adventure. I really felt as though I was right there in the midst of the drama and adventure as it unfolds. The author draws out the story and grabs you and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

The Taste of Light is a historical romance tale and the second book in the series. I was pleasantly surprise by the first book and enjoyed Giovanna’s story telling.

This tale is richly told from 1872 Portugal and port to port as our characters are on the run. The story is steeped in history, traditions, cultures, a conspiracy and accusations and the love of winemaking. There is heartbreak, compassion and passion, tenderness, danger and tension, angst and animosity, chemistry and romance.
We met Pedro in the first book but he is front and centre in this book. We find that there is so much more to this character and how he has been shaped. It is hard not to like him. As long as he cannot reconcile his past and present there is no future and all that he longs for.
Anne finds herself in the most unlikely of circumstances and on a ‘road trip’. She is young and naïve but is full of light and wonder but don’t let that fool you. Under it all is a woman that has a backbone and strength.
Will they make it together or will the past be too much to overcome?
This intricately woven tale will have you hoping against hope that love will prevail.

Wow! The author gives readers a chance to revisit the winemaking scene of Portugal. I must admit to ignorance of Portugal’s winemaking until having read the first book in this series. Our hero is a flawed individual from a noble yet disturbingly dysfunctional familial dynamic. His attempts to stop a barbaric custom come at great personal costs. Yet these same attempts deliver him from his own personal darkness and demons. Personal grudges and petty differences must be put aside in order to achieve his goals.

This was a really good book! It was very well written. It was a well woven story of hope, love, and dreams with some darkness thrown in there to spice the story up. This is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Both books were really good, I’m not sure which I would call my favorite. But I do know this one was beautifully written and well crafted and I’m excited to read more from this author in the future.

The Taste of Light
By: Giovanna Siniscalchi

This is the second book in the Winemaker’s series. I went into this book with high expectations as I LOVED the first book in the series. I have to say that this one did not disappoint. I love that this book focused on Pedro and his rise from “darkness”. In the first book, I did not have a favorable opinion of Pedro. However, I loved watching how he changed and developed as a person as he was on the run from the authorities as well as once he met Annie. I loved this historical romance. I hope that there is more to come in the series!

I enjoyed reading this romance story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed their writing skills as well as their attention to details that made the story pop. I look forward to reading more from them in the future. This is a well written story about discovering that love isn’t always perfect like they say. This is a story that has some suspense as well. It made the story easy and entertaining to read. A fast paced story that is hard to put down. There is great growth with the characters and the plot. The twists and turns had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen to these characters next. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

The Taste of Light is the second book in The Winemakers series by Giovanna Siniscalchi. It is an historical women’s fiction story with romance, emotion, drama, tragedy, heartache, quirky and complex characters, and a sprinkle of humour to balance the darker tones of the story.
As with the first book, the author expertly weaves a tale that transported me through time and made me feel like I was right there experiencing the story right alongside the characters. I was completely immersed in this well-woven story that’s textured with rich details and descriptions, cultural elements, chemistry, real history, and much more
Well worth the read.
Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the series holds.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Giovanna Siniscalchi!

Book 2 of The Winemaker Series, this one was just as much of an emotional historical romance as Book 1, The True Purpose of Vines. There are so many feelings in the story from romance to heartbreak to the power of redemption. I found the characters to be so fascinating that I was hooked on the story upon starting it. This is not the story I normally get into but it truly had me engaged. The facts on Portugal, London Society and other historical items were fascinating and had you wanting to dive down the rabbit hole to learn more. It’s a very well written story that is truly a must read. Very well-done, author! I would give it more than 5 stars if I were allowed to.

My name is Giovanna Siniscalchi, and I have two passions: History and Romance. My goal as a writer is to transport readers to Portugal, where they can watch the sunset through majestic umbrella pines, taste bold wines, and sway to the sound of a Fado. I research every detail of my novels, hoping to make you treasure my grandparents’ country as I do. I grew up reading sweeping romances like Gone With The Wind and Count of Monte Cristo. What I love most about reading a novel is the sensation of having experienced something special. My goal is to recreate this feeling. You won’t find instant love in my books. My characters need to grow and overcome their flaws before they can experience true romance. I have a loving husband, who still is my hero and two amazing kids.
