I really enjoyed this book. I found the beginning difficult to get into and a bit messy to understand, although this might also be because I didn’t realise this was the second in a trilogy and I hadn’t read the first book. Nevertheless, by the halfway point J was hooked and eager to find out what was coming next. It was an interesting look at a slice of life as a graduate student in a science research lab and all that that life entails, along with its take on immigrant America and the ups and downs of personal relationships. I haven’t read a book like this in a while and I really enjoyed it.

I will say I did enjoy this book rather well. There were times I wasn’t 100% fond of Leda, but I can understand where she was coming from, maybe it’s because by 24 I wasn’t really much of a party kid. I’m in school now myself so i understood the stresses of things, though I don’t think I’ll ever take my education as far as she did, that sounds like a nightmare! I really did enjoy this book, and loved the humor behind it and the realness. There were times I felt a little out of sorts but I think that’s because I haven’t read the rest of the series, but this book has made me want to go read the rest of Leda’s story. All In All IT was a lovely book and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice heartwarming read, with some humor and realness mixed in.
4 out of 5 Stars.

I love reading about and following Leda as she makes her way through life. She is an amazing female and an excellently developed main character. Singles And Other Singularities is the second book in Gaia B Amman’s Woman Scientist trilogy, a continuation of her Italian Saga. The Saga follows the life of Italian scientist Leda as she grows up. At this stage in the story, Leda is settled in Buffalo conducting research under the unforgiving guidance of Dr Scrui. Working hard to keep up with the constant demands of her studies, Leda is also involved in an array of romantic dramas.
With a series like this, it is hard not to get attached to the protagonist. The story is told from her perspective, mixing first person narration with epistolary emails and the poetry Leda is writing. This keeps things varied and the emails are a great way of keeping us up to date with what’s going on back in Italy!
Like in the other books, there’s a huge amount of romantic drama in this book. It’s not all Leda’s own drama – with many friends confiding in her she gets tangled up in their dreams and woes as well. With the stress of her academic work, and an ill sister to worry about, Leda really needs stable friendships she can rely on which is hard with all the drama.
For me, this is a four star book. It’s similar in tone to the Adrian Mole series – if you liked that you’ll love this! It was great reading about Leda’s childhood in Italy and seeing her getting to grips with American culture is very entertaining.

Singles: …And Other Singularities (Woman Scientist Trilogy 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman. This author knows the meaning of emotional roller coaster, this isn’t the first one I’ve been on with this author and I’m definitely hoping it’s not the last. The author knows how to write characters readers can connect with and root for. The writing style is smooth and well thought out. The story world that’s been created is one I love to visit. From page one I knew I was in for a journey and I loved every single minute of it. The story is paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters truly draw you into their world and take a little piece of your heart along the way. I’m becoming quite the fan of the author and this Trilogy. I’m excited to see where the author takes us readers next. Four stars and highly recommended.

Singles and Other Singularities was so good! It was like reading a diary, or a long letter from your best friend. I was a little confused at first, as I have not yet read the first novel, or any novel that features Leda and her friends and family, but it didn’t take long to catch up. I enjoyed this book a lot better than I thought I would, and I can’t wait to read the next installment!

I haven’t read a book for a while that takes me on a real rollercoaster ride of emotions but this book did and it had me hooked from the very beginning. It’s an amazing written read that really draws the reader in with descriptive content, real and raw storyline and the truth behind cancer research. I loved our two main characters they really helped progress the story along and really help give the story an extra layer of depth. Gaia B Amman continues to prove how great she is at drawing the readers in with amazing captivating and real read that you can’t help but love!

This lovely novel is book two in the Italian Saga series from Gaia B Amman.I would recommend that you read book one before diving into this one as it is a continuation of Leda’s story, our main character throughout. This book was a tad slow on the take off part of me, much like the last one I read in the series but it is still worth trudging through to get to the good parts. We see Leda finding herself is needing the work more than anything this time around. She is still trying to find that cure for cancer and works hard to overcome the obstacles that the world around places in her path. Her romance life still leaves a lot to be desired but she struggles with the balance of her work and cause and personal time. For the love of Pete, that boss though. I can’t stand her and often want to smack her right through the kindle. I admire Leda’s patience because mine would have run out a long long time ago. I look forward to seeing what adventures will come next in the saga.

This is an extremely detailed story that I don’t this can be jumped right into because it starts “in the middle” of Leda’s story and can be difficult to follow if you don’t know the backstory. It is my recommendation that “The Italian Saga” be read, in order, first.

It is wonderful reading about women in the STEM field and how there are STILL different standards for men and women Ph.D. candidates.

As with other stories I have read by this author, the writing is incredibly detailed and I did skim quite a bit. At the core of this story are relationships of the most complex type. Intricacies in human behavior and how one reacts to different settings and personalities.

Well written and plotted, this story can continue for years to come as life unfolds.

Singles: And Other Singularities (The Woman Scientist Trilogy 2- The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman starts of slow, I am not sure why, but it always takes me ages to get into these books, but I do enjoy them in the end. The characters always make me want to slap them for putting up with their boss and for the way some of these men treat women. But I always end up enjoying the story.

Leda is once again back at the lab doing what she loves and trying to work out her place in the world and those within it. I love her conversations with the Old Man, they make me laugh. I am glad that she is seeing that she needs to find herself before hooking up with a man again. She is a very complex woman with her emotions, and it makes me want to hug her and shake her at the same time and tell her to loosen up and stop being so grumpy. Any way there are lots of ups and downs for all the characters as they struggle with their lives and the different cultures they are faced with and not to mention the boss from hell. I would love to see what karma brings that woman, nasty woman.

If you have enjoyed the other books you will like this one.

Singles by Gaia B Amman a four-star read that will let you fit. This is Woman Scientist Trilogy two, The Italian Saga book eight. I have read them as a series and enjoyed them as such, I would suggest you read them in order as even reading the after a break means I have had to nip back and check something as I was feeling a little lost. Leda is a good character who you will enjoy getting to know, she is real as she is flawed and that just means she leaps off the page. Reading about her and getting to know her better just made this story so much better that I would have been without her.

I really appreciated reading this book for many reasons. One, being based in Buffalo and being a Buffalonian it was really cool to be able to put myself in the places these students visited. Secondly, I myself was a graduate student. I thought about going for a PhD after completing my masters and this book made me glad I did not go further with my education. The author was able to portray the stress that goes into graduate school perfectly. My older sister completed her PhD in NYC and I now have a better appreciation of what she went through. Yes, every person has a different PI or boss and different experiences, but the stress is still there. What I liked most was reading about the different cultures that formed these relationships/companionships/friendships, what ever word you want to use for them. The different cultures and personalities that came together to create such a tight knit group of people was amazing to read about. Though one of them may have felt alone, they were never truly alone. Having experienced it myself, the author does a fabulous job of demonstrating the complex relationship among competitive friends; the fine line of wanting your friend to succeed but also wanting to do better than them. I loved watching Leda’s rollercoaster of emotions and how she handled each situation with as much maturity and of sound mind as possible. As someone who suffers with anxiety and depression, it was hard to read the pain that she experienced but I loved reading her poetry/music and her emails to Andre back home. I think that every person that reads this book could walk away with some extra knowledge about life and relationships. School is not all about books and classes, it’s so much more than that.

Singles: And Other Singularities (Woman Scientist Trilogy 2, Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman is yet another great book in this series.
You are yet again taken straight into the life of Leda, someone who I think we can all relate to!! There are times when she has me laughing and times when I was to scream in frustration at her and yet it feels like what she goes through, and the decisions she has to make in life are so relatable.
It is great that this book has a serious side to it, the funny and the serious offset each other very nicely. This was a brilliant read and I can’t wait for more.

Singles and Other Singularities (The woman Scientist Trilogy 2- The Italian Saga) is the latest offering from Gaia B Amman. This series has slowly worked its way under my skin- and I can’t help being invested in these great characters and the outcome of the story/series.
Reading from book one and following along on The Italian Saga, I have enjoyed seeing the characters evolve, grow, and develop along the way. It is interesting- Ms. Amman’s descriptive and detailed style creating an entirely believable, and relatable cast of characters- and situations. I like how well rounded they are- this is definitely a character driven storyline.
Looking forward to more!

Thank you, Ms. Amman!

Single and Other Singularities (The Woman Scientist Trilogy 2-The Italian Saga Book 8) by Gaia B Amman has a different flavor for me. Amman wrote a well thought out emotional roller coaster ride. The story’s core is based on a cancer research and all that goes into that story. The characters are complex and easy to follow along. The characters have many emotions and dealing with the healthcare field can be a pain in the neck. There is more support for those in the healthcare field. It is like a big family, which makes it apparent why everyone supports one another. Will the research move forward to the goal or will everything fall apart? Can everyone work together? One will have to read the book to find out the answers.

By Gaia B Amman is a great continuation of the series. I recommend reading the books in order to enjoy them thoroughly. Leda is fighting her way through research and graduate school with her peers. This is a relatable story because of the well written characters. The author makes what could be a cold, dry subject into something enjoyable and interesting. Leda is great even though she makes some poor decisions. I think this is part of what makes her so enduring. She is young and in a foreign country but making the most of her opportunities. I look forward to reading more of Leda’s story in the future.

I really enjoy reading stories by this author; she never fails to pull me into whatever I am reading. She has a really nice, relaxed writing style. I think because the subject of the story was so close to my heart I found I was really invested in what I was reading. I loved the humour side to the story it sliced through some of the more serious parts and really lifted what I was reading and made it more entertaining. I really like Leda so I was really looking forward to reading more about her, I admire her drive to succeed in her career but I also deep down really want her to find love and have a good work/life balance – I think she is genuinely a lovely person.
An entertaining story that I really enjoyed! As always I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Singles and Other Singularities (The woman Scientist Trilogy 2- The Italian Saga Book 8) by Gaia B Amman. This is the best series. I have loved it from book 1 and each book gets better and better. I’ve become emotionally attached to these characters. This is the ongoing story of Leda who is a Italian 25 year old cancer researcher. She is very hard headed, very intelligent and searching for “The One”. Working with other young scientist who are determined to make a difference in the world of cancer Leda is beginning to wonder if any of them will ever have more than their work. When Amar who is beyond arrogant and intelligent kisses Leda it confuses her all the more. She is beginning to believe that work is all that matters or at least all she is good at. She is also dealing with horrible bosses, lack of funding and the US immigration services. Will Leda find love and a cure of cancer or both? Will she realize there is more to live than just work, work and more work. Read Singles to find out!

The story Singles and Other Singularities (The woman Scientist Trilogy 2- The Italian Saga Book 8) by Gaia B Amman is a book that is amazing and one that I loved reading. It is the next book that features the wonderful character of Leda. I have grown to care what happens to Leda with each book that read. This story will have you wondering if she will find love. She is a scientist who is driven to succeed in her work. What does the future hold for Leda? Read this book to find out. This story has emotional moments and my emotions went up and down with Leda’s. She is a character that I want to find happiness. There are other graduate students that Leda interacts with. Some are helpful and good friends with Leda. Then there other characters who are selfish and only look out for themselves. There are moments that are sad and others that are heartwarming. Don’t miss out on the continuing story of Leda. You won’t be disappointed. I would highly recommend reading the other stories which feature Leda. This is a book that will pull you in and will not let you go until the final page.
