Soul Redeemed is the fifth installment of Theresa Van Spankeren’s War Of Destiny series and I am beyond loving all of it! Each book keeps getting better and more intriguing and I can never put any of them down! I highly suggest starting this series with her first book Lost Souls to join Julia at the start of her journey! I really enjoyed watching Julia really get to know herself and her powers in this book. Spankeren writes her character in such a relatable way and with such emotion you can’t help but feel everything Julia goes through. Soul Redeemed has such great world building (as always with Spankeren) with enough action and intensity to have my heart racing. I can’t wait for the next book and possibly the final battle with Valentino! Prepare for wonderfully unexpected twists and turns in this uniquely dark vampire fantasy series! You will not be disappointed!

Theresa Van Spankeren delivers another great book in The War of Destiny Series! The fifth installment, Soul Redeemed finds Julia and her ka-tet strengthening a power she wasn’t sure she would ever have; one they must convince the Council she even possesses. The ka-tet must also reunify the Resistance and fight against Valentino’s forces all while protecting the humans from nearby villages that are now acutely aware of their existence. Soul Redeemed delivers the same amazing world building as the rest of the series. I could feel the fear, passion, guilt, pain, and love felt by the characters. The same familiar characters are also here, along with some newer faces. Twists and turns and action abound! There is still so much story left in this series, and I’m loving it! I highly recommend this series!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series!! Usually by book 5 in a series, the story has started to wane some and the action isn’t quite what you expected but that is definitely not true in this saga!!

I highly recommend reading these books in order. Failure to do so will lead to much confusion amongst the characters and the situations. There is a lot of backstory to this saga that is necessary in order to enjoy this series as it’s intended.

Julia is just now learning about her powers and the ones she possessess haven’t been seen in other vampires in centuries. Not really knowing how to best manifest them, Julia has to rely on her katet to help her hone her skills and use them for the best benefit to everyone. At the same time, Julia is concerned that Valentino is doing his dead level best to destroy her katet and all the humans too.

There is a lot I want to say about this book but I’m not going to ruin it for anyone. There is a lot of action, loose ends tied up, more loose ends created, and emerging storylines for future books in this series. This made for an enjoyable afternoon read!

Julia would never have believed she would figure out her gifts and how to use them, let alone convince others that she could see the dead and hear them in her head. The counsel meeting is where she must prove to them that the gifts are real. She is not confident if she will be able to or not even with the additional training of Samuel’s old friends. Everyone is facing challenges and now humans are in the mix as well. Valentino is on the warpath with the humans in the middle. This is an explosive book with room for possibly a 6th book. Fingers crossed as I really loved these characters.

This book was from the point of view of Lane. We learn so much about him in this story. I loved how we heard conversations between him and Julia and the rest of the group as well as others. Lane is troubled due to living alone for far too long. He looks at Samuel’s group with bewilderment. He is helping them but will he ever be able to trust them. He and Kali have many conversations that are poignant to the outcome of the story. I was surprised by the change of perspective in this story, although I did enjoy it. Onto book 5. Can’t wait.

This book had me crying, and I mean crying with tears streaming down my face. The emotional pain that is being suffered is overwhelming. If you have read this book and did not cry.. Well?? Julia has spent years in basic solitude. Samuel with years at the bottom of a bottle and Matthew well he found his own way of coping.

Oh my gosh this 2nd book took over my life. I could not stop reading. I am loving this series.

In this second book, betrayal is at the heart of the book. You don’t even see it coming. I was aghast and was yelling “ What The Heck”. As the group continues to eliminate their enemies, they find they have their backs against a wall. People start to crack under all the stress whether emotional or physical. This book ends with a bang.

If you have not read this series. It is a must read. I am already through the beginning of book 3.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me up late into the night and most of the day afterward. I couldn’t put it down. The introduction of Julianna into the world of the Vampire Resistance was a tormenting journey. Julianna (Julia), is a 15 year old girl whose first love is Adam. Her mothers servants son with whom she has been friends with since a young child. When her brother and father scheme to marry her off to a wealthy man, she is devastated. The marriage is not a love match. Gregory is mean and heavy handed. I found myself crying as the author pulled out the emotions from me. Looking forward to starting book two.

WOW! Excellent book! I really hope there is more after this, because I need more about Julia’s group and Kali’s group. Julia’s feelings in this book are all over the place and my heart hurts for her. She still feels that sense of unease between her and Samuel, and also with Mary Anne, because of the past, but I think she has proven over and over that she is not that person, that she was, deceived into making those decisions 6 years ago. The showdown with Jonathan was rough, but I am waiting for the battle with Valentino. In the end, I was happy to see her relationships with everyone strengthen, and the new friends she makes in Alicia and Adrian. Something is going on with Julia and her power to sense others in her ka-tet and I can’t wait to find out what that is! Wonderful series thus far!

This book is read from Lane’s point of view, and while I did enjoy seeing everything happen from someone else’s perspective other than Julia’s, it seemed a bit unnecessary. I’m still not 100% sure where Lane stands, whether he wants to be alone like he has been, or join Julia’s group. There is also his relationship with Kali, is it just friends or more? At the end of this book is where there is more, continuing on from the 3rd book and Julia and Kali go through some things, big things. I hope the next book I find Lane back with Julia’s group and they are all together and working out how to get rid of Valentino once and for all.

Another excellent addition to this series! My heart was so broken for Julia with the way everyone is treating her. The way she copes just tears me up, I get why they are mad but also I think they are afraid of what they don’t know. A blast from the past shows up and turns everyone’s world upside down. Relationships mend, and tear apart again, Julia just seems to be thrown left and right. Her and Samual, I know have something between them if they would just talk, I’m so tired of Julia holding everything in and taking everything on her shoulders alone. Bring on the next one!

Another great book! This series is wonderful so far. This book broke my heart and made me smile. I am devastated to learn of the group’s losses, but Samuel and Julia become closer and that somewhat makes up for it. This book is set 70 years after Julia first gets turned, I know the timeline of vampires is vast, it really was a bummer to realize that Julia had been without her daughter for that long. Valentino is getting closer to Samuel and his group of resistance and is intent on getting to Julia, to have her join his side. Julie makes terrible decisions, and the way she talks, keeps things from Samuel and tries to handle everything on her own really gets to me. I am hoping for something different from her in the next book

Wow! I feel like this book falls under the old adage “never judge a book by its cover”. This book blew me away, the story is so well written and just gut punched me. I am just devastated about Julia being married to Greg and all that she endures. I didn’t think there would be any way out for her until Samuel. Their journey, together with the rest of the group and Adam is rough, wondering if Julia will ever be able to tell Adam about her time married, or if her and Samuel have something between them.

Soul Redeemed is Book Five in the War of Destiny Series. Each book builds upon the one prior so I recommend reading the first four books in the series first. It will also introduce you to each of the characters and give you their background and story. This is a fast-paced paranormal story full of action, suspense, danger, intrigue, vampires, and twists and turns that will keep you reading to the end. The characters are beautifully written, diverse, and complex. Julia is the MC, and this book focuses on her POV as she struggles through her journey of becoming a vampire. She is strong, smart, determined and we have watched her grow and mature through each of the books. Julia’s journey has left her with feelings of regret, and she struggles with self-harm behavior. This is heart wrenching to read, and you want to reach out and give her a hug. The author has done a great job of world building and creating vivid scenes that immerse you fully into the story alongside the characters. As their journey continues the stakes are even higher for the characters and they are in a race against time. I highly recommend this vampire paranormal series that will grab your attention from the first book and keep you reading to the end.

4.5 Stars

Soul Redeemed is the fifth book in the War of Destiny series by Theresa Van Spankeren. As each book in this series builds on what has come previously, I highly recommend reading the first four books before starting on this one, because they all come together to creating a ‘bigger picture’, not to mention they are all great reads, providing hours of entertaining adventure to plunge into.
This is an original, clever and intriguing paranormal saga with vampires, action, adventure, high stakes, politics, agendas, atmospheric world building, danger, intrigue, tense developments, violence, and plenty of suspense.
I am really enjoying this adventure- and Ms. Van Spankeren raises the stakes here for us, and the characters- bringing even more tension, dramatic developments, and intrigue- in a high-stakes race against time which kept me glued to the pages to find out how everything would play out in the end.
Can’t wait to see what Ms. Van Spankeren has in store for us next!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Theresa Van Spankeren!

This is another winner in the series. Julia is still working through her issues and now she has to figure out how to work her talents and other items. The writing is strong. The characters are each so unique and I love how they are, because they come from different units and somehow mesh well together even with some mistrust. Julia is strong and has come through so much. I love how she has grown throw the series. The storyline is interesting and grabs you. This really isn’t meant to be a standalone as you may be lost if you try. This author does such a terrific job with her books that you just can’t put them down.

This book is the fifth book in a series. Like the others in this series, I would not read as a stand alone book or out of order. That being said, I have read all five books and loved this book and the entire series! This book centers around Julia and her point of view. I think as a female character, I liked her struggle to give voice to her feelings and to allow herself to grieve. I think many women can relate to those issues. There was a character in the last two books, Lane. I actually missed him in this book. But, I enjoyed the continuation of the characters and that their struggles that don’t just magically end by becoming a vampire. There is an aspect of self harm for Julia, that some readers may need to know about before reading. I also felt her struggle to stop the self harm behaviors is accurate and relatable. I loved the book. I love the series. It is a fantastic read and well worth the time!

Theresa continues to impress me with this original high stake’s series. Soul Redeemed is another unique continuation and the fifth book in the War of Destiny series. Make sure you start with Lost Souls book one in this epic series and work your way through each one as the build on from each other.
Get ready to devour this dark vampiric paranormal fantasy story. The characters are well written have depth and well developed. Theresa’s world building is skilfully built and carefully crafted. The plot is fast-paced and is as gripping as it is engaging.
It is a multilayered tale full of action, tension, intense danger, intrigue, imagination and twist and turns that you will find hard to put this book down. Once again, the vividness allows the reader to enjoy every nuance of Theresa’s storytelling. Soul Redeemed is built a solid foundation that has been skilfully woven into an exciting story.

Fallen Soul was such an amazing read! It exceeded my expectations and is so wonderfully written. I did read this book as a standalone, but after enjoying it so much I am on my way to pick up the first three in the series now. Lane feeds on his own kind which is not allowed so he is a wanted vampire. He has succeeded in being invisible for so long until he runs into a different group of vampires. None of them are trying to kill him. They even live with humans instead of feeding on and killing them. Can he trust them, or will he end up being their enemy as well? The author has such a mesmerizing way of telling the story and it flows so well. I was pulled into this world so quickly and now I really hope there is plenty more of this series!

Fallen Soul (War of Destiny # 4)Fallen Soul by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book 4 in the ‘War of Destiny’ series. Usually the main character is a part of the ka-tet that has been the main focus of the series, this time it follows Lane.

Lane is a rogue vampire. Alone for years with a bounty on his head from Valentino, the king of vampires himself, for feeding off his fellow vampire. He sees himself as a monster and thinks he is doing a service by killing off other monsters. Other vampires fear him and think he is insane, that is until he meets Julia.

Julia is the first vampire in years to not know who he is and what he is capable of. This makes her intriguing to Lane. After this encounter he keeps running into her no matter where he goes. It’s as if it is destiny that Lane and the lives of Julia and the rest of the ka-tet keep crossing paths. The more he learns about this group, the more questions he has. Valentino and the vampire hunters are also hunting Julia for reasons unknown to Lane. He is willing to defend the group but can he trust them or are they just like the others and want him dead?

I have read all the books in the series so far and I think this one is my favourite. Lane is so used to being alone that he is scared to trust. The author does a really good job portraying the struggle within. Lane hates what he is and what he has done in the past. If he can’t love himself how can anyone else?

This book is the fourth in a series. While this technically could be read without reading the other books, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are a lot of characters, and it is a continuation of an overall story. This book is almost a retelling of book three. The first three books follow Julia’s point of view. This one follows Lane who Julia meets in book 3. We get to see the rest of what was going on during the third book. I completely enjoyed this one as an avid reader of the series. I have enjoyed all four in the series and am anxiously awaiting the rest of the story. If you haven’t read the series, go read it!

Fallen Soul (War of Destiny # 4)Fallen Soul by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lane Marlow is a vampire, but unlike most others, he lives alone and prefers his own company, but it is much more than that, not long after he was turned, he was forced to abandon the country of his birth and while discovering what it meant to have this new life, he was eventually shunned for the way he decided to live it, by feeding off of other vampires. At this time, the way Lane lived had made its way to the King of the vampires, Valentino and he wasn’t very impressed in the slightest, so he ordered his Council to apprehend Lane and deliver him to his prison cells, it was here that he was condemned to death, but Lane had other ideas and he escaped.

Nobody knows quite what happened to Lane in Valentino’s care, or how exactly he escaped and Lane keeps his cards very close to his chest, so he allows the rumours to follow him because it made his life easier in one way, but harder in another. All of this has led Valentino to decree that any vampire who sees Lane must kill him on site, but Lane isn’t easy to kill, so to keep his sanity in tact, he decides to return to his homeland, but makes a pit stop in Rome, this is where he runs into Valentino’s Council members again, but they aren’t the only ones.

As he is hunting, Lane comes across a group of vampires who are not what they seem and do not live like other vampires, they live with humans and they aren’t all scared of him, plus the most mystifying of all is that they don’t attack him onsite, in fact they help him! Lane is struggling to wrap his head around him, but colour him intrigued, he wants to know more, could this lead to an uneasy, but welcomed alliance, or are they just playing him and stringing along like others in his past and become just another obstacle to his return home? This is another fantasy adventure which is full of supernatural beings and danger which lurks in every shadow, where stories are exchanged and futures are uncertain, when the pasts bleeds into them.

Fallen Soul (War of Destiny # 4)Fallen Soul by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fallen Soul is Book 4 in the War of Destiny Series. If you have not yet read the first books, I highly recommend reading them or you may feel a bit lost without all of the details of Lane or the others. Decades after being turned into a vampire Lane is still on the run after being condemned for feeding off his own kind. After escaping Valentino, King of the Vampires, Lane has a target on his back. Rumors have been circulated about him being crazy so it has forced Lane to be a loner. Valentino has ordered for Lane to be killed on sight but somehow, he manages to elude or kill anyone that tries to murder him. Lane attempts to flee to Ireland but gets discovered in Rome.

As Lane attempts to flee to a safer place he stumbles onto a group of vampires who are not the same as any other vampire he has ever encountered. These vampires do not flee from him, nor do they try to kill him. Not only that, but these vampires live with humans. Lane must decide if these vampires are allies or if they are more cunning than other vampires and intend to deter him from reaching his destination. Will Lane continue his journey solo or has he found friends in this group?

I have read this series from the first book and became invested in the characters and the story. The author does an amazing job with writing vivid scene descriptions that make the reader feel as though you are there with the characters. The characters are wonderful, and it was interesting to read how they developed through the story from book to book. Lane was a loner right from the beginning as he was shunned after being turned into a vampire. He was on the run, constantly looking over his shoulder and unable to trust anyone. It was interesting to see what Lane would decide to do when he meets a group of vampires unlike any that he has ever met. It forces him to make some difficult decisions about his future. A great vampire paranormal series.

This is the 4th book in the War of Destiny series. This is a gripping and engaging vampire story. I would definately recommend reading these books from the beginning so you get the full story. The author does an amazing job with the writing which makes this paranormal adventure story seem almost possible.
Lane has been through so many trials and troubles since becoming a vampire. He has been forced to escape his home land after the vampire King wanted his head. But now Lane has decided he wants to return home.
What follows is Lane’s story of him finding his way home but the path isn’t an easy one. With a bounty over his head he doesn’t know who he can and can’t trust. Everyone is out for his. So he is thrown off guard when he meets a strange woman and a group of vampires who don’t try and kill him and don’t run from him.
Is this a group of vampires he can trust or are they just playing him for another reason

This is a story of danger at every turn, chaos and fighting for your life. There are some sections of violence which maybe too much for some people to read bit overall I loved this story and the character growth in this series.
