This book has such amazing character and world building. I felt like I could get lost in the world, and like the people there we so well thought out, it made the easy to identify. While this book isn’t something I’d normally read, I thought it was a great story. It’s a bit slow to start in my opinion, but it was a great read, none the less. I do recommend this book if you like a book with western theme, a little romance and mystery.

I loved the thrill of cat and mouse during this read! Had my full attention and I needed answers. Every time I tried putting the book down I was picking it right back up, because I needed to know how it ends. Serial killers, thrill of the chase, dual POV’s…I loved it all. And you do not want to be a blonde on this book, I promise you that. If you want a great crime/psychological thriller, this book is for you.

I am truly enjoying the Logan McKenna Series. Each book seems to just keep getting better than the last. In each of these books, Logan finds herself deep in a mystery. Each mystery also seems to focus on a social issue or topic. In this case the book focused on sea otters and their rescue. This was a very interesting topic to intertwine in a mystery and I absolutely loved it. I loved how greed was the center of this tale and between that and the sea otters and I definitely did not want to put this book down. Valerie Davisson is a fantastic author who is able to create informative mysteries that have a great pace. She makes it almost impossible to put the book down because you want to find out what will happen next. I will most definitely be reading the next Logan McKenna book because I have loved the first three so very much!

Safe Harbor (Logan McKenna Series Book 5) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Anantha Rusum

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A skillfully written crime novel with a lot of attention to detail, Safe Harbor is the fifth in the Logan McKenna mystery series.
Logan, is on vacation along the pacific coast of Oregon with her family, which includes her boy friend and her daughter’s family. As they enjoy the scenic Oregon and all the attractions it has to offer, a murder occurs in a small town, and Logan gets caught into it as one of the suspects. And then she finds herself dragged into the investigation. The book is just not a mystery, but it also deals with the themes of forgiveness, healing, family, love and community.
This is my first of the books in the series, I had to dig a bit about the characters, but the plot could be read standalone. I enjoyed this mystery.

If you think “ Killer Blonde” was nail biting and brilliant , brace yourself “ Killer Smile” was even better !

We always say that we need to trust our gut feel and I think when you’re a cop even more so and Cade is uneasy which can’t be good at all 🫣
and when he gets a call to go to University of Minnesota we soon find out why he trusts his gut

So Cade is well known for taking out the Blonde Klller and now he’s the centre of attention as a group of serial killers head to Minnesota to try and outsmart him ! There are sick puppies out there people ! This was the Reston he was called in , the university discovered a group on the dark web called Orbiting Cortex which is a site for serial killers and hold your horses here they socialise , swop our stories and ideas and that is how the challenge was created !?

This was a thriller of a read ! My stomach turned a few times and the last 20 mins or so had me being pretty vocal while reading , man there were a few surprises ! I also did get annoyed at a stage because Cade was made out to be incompetent and it’s just uncalled for but that’s life I suppose , we also caught up with some old friends and we also made new ones that formed part of the Five Below task force .

I’m definitely a fan and have shared with any one that has ears and asked what I was reading ❣️📚

Admittedly at first I was intimidated by the sheer size of this book, that all changed once I started to read The Man In Black. The visuals were stunning and the emotions were beyond gripping! I absolutely loved how she split the book into three segments. It helped with the overall length and flow of the story! It really helps you grasp the changes and struggles Fenimore James or should I say Simon Shaw goes through! The tone was also wonderful, it goes beyond being transported back to the old west. I truly felt like I was sitting around a campfire listening to him tell me his life story, both the ups and the downs. Almost like listening to stories from your grandparents! It was absolutely mesmerizing! I could picture every scene, every outfit, as if I was in the saloon! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Ms. Liverpool! I highly recommend giving this book a try!

The Man in Black by L.R. Liverpool – Review by Darla Yocom

The Man In BlackThe Man In Black by L.R. Liverpool

I absolutely loved the innocent and quite naive young man, Fenimore James from the get go. He’s lived his young life in one place in the comfort of his parent’s home yet he wants more. He wants the life described in books or the papers. He’s dreamed of leaving his home, living life in the road, embarking on one journey after another, meeting new people yet feels something is holding him back. His name. At his core he feels his name is not a true fit and does not represent who he really is.

This incredible story finds Fen bravely choosing to leave home, Along the way he joins in with a group or gang of folks and changing his name. As most often do, he finds himself questioning his decision of leaving his hometown and every decision made since he left.

When he finds members of his gang being murdered he finds himself perplexed. Then dealing with his internal personal feelings about someone close he struggles.

Mystery, struggle, murder, romance and life’s many perplexities makes this complex story a winner in my eyes. I cannot wait to see what else the author had in store in the future.

Killer Smile is a Crime/Thriller with a bit of suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat turning the pages while trying to piece it all together. This is a new author to me and I’m definitely going to check out Killer Blonde as well. The attention to detail and relatable characters makes for a suspenseful story. This is a wonderfully written story about a race against time to find the serial killers. Detective Cade has found a dark website for serial killers and it seems he’s on the list and is being targeted. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Im already looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Another amazing read from the author, following the lives of those in the Devils Handmaidens MC, like the others written the book links very closely with others in the same world that DM describes so vividly.
Shadow enforcer for the MC has many demons from her past and as you get further through the book it becomes obvious just how deep and dark some of those demons are.
Abduction, human trafficking and abuse all are mentioned.
Introduce Panther and his men to the mix and the relationship between Panther and Shadow is one that is so involved on so many levels that you cannot hope for a happy ending.
The other members of the MCs continue to make very bold appearances and the character development continues, the depth of human depravity of trafficking, selling, slavery, and race supremacy all have a hand in making this book gritty and another you cannot put down.

The Logan McKenna books always touch on tough subjects. This one is no different. Except this time, for me, it hit close to home. I have been in Lori’s shoes with two little girls. Sometimes, stories about domestic violence don’t seem to really be written well. They don’t seem realistic or almost glorify it. This was definitely not the case in this book. Valerie Davisson wrote Lori’s story beautifully. The way she wrote of Lori and what she’s gone through and continues to go through, makes me think she either knows first hand about this sort of thing; or she did her research. I hope it’s the latter of course. Her other books all prove that to be true in my opinion.

The thing I want to mention most about his story is the fact you learn about otters! One of the cutest creatures ever to exist. This time, the mystery hits super close to home. I am really enjoying this series.

So far of all the books in the Logan McKenna Series this is by far my favorite one. Logan befriends young, single mother who just moved into her neighborhood. As we know our girl likes to help people, she soon becomes embroiled in this mystery. Her new neighbors, Lori and Shannon, have secrets that they are keeping as close to the vest as possible lest their stalker find them. When Lori is attacked, Logan may hold the only clue to solving the case. She unwittingly draws the attacker ever closer the more she dogs into this young woman’s past. How will she keep herself out of danger this time? This book does touch on the heavy subject of abuse so it may be triggering for some. It is a very well written book and the author did an amazing job as always.

I’m loving this series about Cade and his determination to solve the murders that are popping up in his area. This time, a group of serial killers have descended on Cade’s location and have challenged him. Cade, not one to back down from a challenge, puts together a task force and finds himself dealing with not one, but three, serial killers.

Another very well written story that I wasn’t able to put down until I finished! I enjoy the moments of levity scattered throughout this story, as parts of it were pretty intense. I look forward to more from this author!

A great cozy mystery to get sucked in to. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Logan has great character development. She goes through an awful lot but doesn’t let any of it keep her down. After a lot of loss, she must find something to do with the rest of her life. This book is loaded with real life issues mixed into a fictional story. You can start to relate to the main character and you really start to care for her.

This is not the first book I have read by this author, and it is far from the last! I absolutely enjoyed the thrill ride they always take me on. The Logan McKenna series is definitely one to keep your eye out for. The first book I read from this series blew my socks off, and I can still vividly remember it a year later! I always love the imagery this author paints with as well as it makes the experience that much more real. The flow of the story was engaging and smooth, never once did I feel jolted out of Logan’s world. This was definitely a psychological crime thriller, so if that is up your alley, I HIGHLY recommend picking up not only this book, but this series!

This is a very long book. Don’t let that throw you off of it though. There is a lot packed into this story. There is so much detail into each of the characters mentioned in the book. You really begin to feel like you know the characters and have actually met them. The story is very well written and it has both very intense moments and relaxed moments. It is quite the fantastic book and I am glad to have chose it despite the length! There is a lot more I could say about this book, but I will leave it to you to read to find out more.

The Man in Black by L.R. Liverpool is a great thriller romance.

Fenimore James, a naive dreamer, flees his home and travels to the west to become Simon Shaw, a renowned bandit. His fantasies of glitzy heists are quickly dashed, though, when he joins the notorious Red Evans gang and finds himself caught up in a bizarre game where gang members are mysteriously being killed off one at a time by an unknown pursuer who leaves cryptic marks scarring their bodies.Fenimore’s waking hours turn into misery as he starts to doubt his own sexuality and finds himself falling in love with a fellow male gang member whom he had just recently dreaded and detested. Safe Harbor (Logan McKenna Series Book 5) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Safe Harbor is the fifth book in the Logan Mckenna Mystery Series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone mystery – it’s the first that I’ve read, but now I’m keen to go back to read more and get to know the stories behind some of the characters!

The Oregon Coast provides a stunning backdrop for this mystery. Logan is there on holiday with her family, including her young grandson. There are so many activities for them to enjoy, but getting caught up in a murder is not something any of them planned.

I enjoy how this story revolves around such interesting family dynamics. Logan has a lot of complicated relationships and past trauma that she has to work to keep from impacting her present life. This adds plenty of interest and depth to the story!

For me, this is a five star read! It will appeal to readers who enjoy exploring an interesting destination through the eyes of a protagonist, and who like a mystery that will give them plenty to think about.

The book that started it all. Here begins the introduction to Logan McKenna. Logan, a woman still in her prime has recently lost her husband, her job, and her way in the world. She may be down, but she’s not out. Valerie Davisson does a great job making her real, she is faced with problems just like you and me. Logan sells the business she owned with her husband and moves to a beach house in southern California. There she is faced with what to do next, meeting new people and dealing with a murder. A can’t put down first book.

Meanwhile there is another story unfolding at the same time. This one dealing with a homeless Vietnam vet trying to make his way in the world after struggling with PTSD. The author is definitely incredibly descriptive with everything in the book, talk about movie in your head and the way she stitches the stories together to create a seamless tale is fantastic! Valerie has done it once again. Holding your attention right to the very end.

This isn’t an easy feat and the author shows many of the struggles women (&men) go through when they have an abusive partner. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future!
