The Secret Cure: A Gripping Psychological Thriller with a Twist by JD Spero – Review by Kerry Carr

The Secret CureThe Secret Cure by J.D. Spero
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow this Thriller is an amazing. I was so totally gripped from the beginning. There are so many secrets and lies in this book that when they are all revealed I was really shocked and surprised. The author does an amazing job with her characters making them come alive. The character I really felt for and ended up loving is Rosalie Giordano. She is such a strong and determined character. I could feel every ounce of her anger and betrayal and in turn her need for vengence.

Rosalie used to be a dancer. After her hard upbringing she was rescued by her husband. However when she was struck down with an illness then left her in a paralysed state things in their perfect marriage goes wrong. Unable to move or speak all Rosalie could do was watch.
Her husband thinks she has no chance of recovering so he turned to his therapist.
Rosalie starts to feel there is more to their relationship that a professional patient/client relationship so when she starts to get movement back she keeps this to herself and starts to plot her revenge against husband who betrayed her when she was at her weakest.

However she isn’t the only person out for revenge against her husband and as the story unfolds there are more secrets and betrayals that we find out about. This is one thrilling ride which won’t let you go.

The Secret Cure is a gripping thriller by JD Spero, I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book from reading the description, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story switches between the 4 main characters Rosalie, Vincent, Anastasia and Cate. I think seeing things from each of the different perspectives really adds a different dimension to this book. I found it to be a compelling read and finished it in one day as I couldn’t put it down. The story had lots of twists that I wasn’t expecting and really enjoyed. Will definitely be looking out for other books by this author.

I was hooked from page one by this gripping psychological thriller, which was full of drama and suspense. Rosalie Giordano was in the prime of her life, happily married to her ‘fairy tale hero’, Vincent for ten blissful years, and the couple were planning to have a family. Her life changes when Rosalie is diagnosed with a mysterious virus, which has left her temporarily paralysed. As her condition continues for months, Rosalie discovers that her husband, Vin is having an affair. Her homecare nurse Cate, cares for her everyday and with her help Rosalie regains full mobility. However, she keeps her progress secret from Vin, and as her health improves she uncovers the extent of his betrayal, learning that he is not who he seems.
As her need for vengeance grows, she decides that their overseas anniversary trip is the perfect occasion for her to get her revenge. Having arrived at their upmarket Sicilian resort, Rosalie learns that she is not the only one with a score to settle with her husband, and she won’t be the only one with blood on her hands. This is a real page turner, and I literally could not put this book down. The characters are all so well defined that I felt as though I knew them. Both the characters and the settings came alive through the descriptive narrative. I liked how each of the main characters point of view was told, making me feel engaged with each of them. The storyline flowed well, and the sense of unease built chapter by chapter, and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the ending. I definitely recommend this novel.

Mysterious and suspenseful with a twist
Engaging from the first page, this suspenseful thriller kept me glued until the end. Told in multiple POV, there are many layers to this story and it kept me guessing through out the whole book. Deceit, misplaced love and revenge weave together to create a unique story. Highly recommend.

The Secret Cure is a psychological thriller with twists. It is not a young adult thriller which is this author’s usual fare. This story is aimed at an older audience and is full of action and suspense, intrigue and a touch of mystery. Add in revenge and vola tensions fly.

It is told in multiple POV’s, which I love, giving you an insight into what the characters are thinking, who they are and gives the story so much more depth. There are also layers of secrets, truths waiting to be told and mysteries to unravel. The tension and raw emotions throughout are palpable and urge the reader to keep turning page after page.

Lying in wait lies and secrets bring her to boiling point. It turns out she is not the only one out for revenge.

Rosalie is a former ballet dancer who is now bound to her bed due to an illness that prevents her from moving. It seems like her husband can’t bear to look at or be around her. She has noticed that he is spending more and more time with his therapist, Anastasia. She suspects and affair but being unable to move about, let alone talk she can only plot revenge. Her husband Vincenzo doesn’t notice that she is slowly gaining back her words and movement. That has been kept a secret by both Rosalie and her home health nurse, Cate. When and where will Rosalie get her revenge? There is also someone else who has a score to settle with Vincenzo. It is only a matter or when, where and who will get to him first.

I could not put this one down, it was full of intrigue and the want to know more as I read, the story and characters offered a lot. It was a griping read from start to finish, and a most excellent thriller!

What made this book for me was the characters that it contained, and how the story developed around them all in different ways. Really felt for Rosalie. She endured so much, and kept enduring, I really was not sure how her story would end up turning out. Personally I loved how she was written, and her pain made her character who she was, especially later in the book. The intertwining of the characters with the plot at that one certain point really was that wow factor! The writing was amazing, and certainly kept you on the edge of your seat. Strong intrigue and anticipation as well. Fantastic read! Loved it completely!

I could not help love how much of a thrill ride this book was. I was unable to let go. I was held with a tight grip. Definitely a high recommendation for this must read book and author! Not one to be passed up!

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her. This is a well written story where the characters bring the story to life. They kept me coming back for more. This is a story about revenge. Someone has a score to settle but that person may not be the only one. This story is full of action and suspense. I found the characters to be relatable and strong. They keep the story engaging and hard to put down. The growth of the plot and characters throughout the story made it easy to read. Woah, such a good read. I also love when books have different POV from each character. Gives you more of the story! But this one was intense and towards the end it took such a drastic turn! I wasn’t expecting that. Extremely impressed, because I didn’t think that’s what was going to happen! As for the character Rosalie, she’s something else lol. Don’t underestimate that woman. Cate, I enjoyed her character, very like-able. As for Vin and Anastasia, they suck. Anastasia is probably the worse. But I went into this book blind, just based it off the cover. And I’m so glad I read this. 4 stars for me!

Triad Resumption: Part Two (Grimm Wolves MC Book 6) by D.M. Earl – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Triad Resumption, Part Two (Grimm Wolves MC #6)Triad Resumption, Part Two by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so glad I could go straight onto reading this after book 5 as there is a definite cliff hanger.
Chains has been found but he is in a critical situation. Winnie and Jackson are left waiting to hear if their man will survive, and are unable to do anything to help, they know not only that he is physically in a bad way and in need of medical assistance but they know that mentally he will be in a very bad place. They are unsure if he will recover and come back to them.
We are introduced to Pussy and continue to learn about Wild, and Tinks and her female MC. As well as being introduced to Thor and Mavis who both have deep issues in their past.
On returning home the story continues as there are attacks and continuance of the MCs trying to find who is behind all of the troubles.
We follow Chains, Jackson and Winnie, as well as the MCs as they work together to get answers and bring down a child trafficking and paedophilia ring. And we discover how Chains, Jackson, Thor and others are involved.
This book like its predecessor continues to be dark but deep and pulls you along on this very engaging rollercoaster of highs lows and sharp turns.

This is the first book in the First Coast Thriller series. It is a great start to the series. This book is definately one that will keep a reader gripped and on the edge of their seat from start to finish. I loved it. I literally couldn’t put it down and the pace was fast enough that it kept me engaged without missing any details or depth.

This books is a crime Thriller and has so many twists and turns at the reader cannot be sure of what to expect or what the outcome can be. When you mix cartel boats and investigations with the FBI you just know that things are going to be pretty or plain sailing and lives will be on the line.

Our main character Clayton has had a rough time of things. He was part of JSO but he gambling addiction got the best of him and now he’s a repo man. All he wants is to get back into law enforcement and make his family proud.
When he is offered that change he grabs for it however it comes at a cost and that cost is crossing dangerous people and putting the family and friends he loves into harms way.

This is the continuation of Winnie, Chains, and Jackson’s story. I fell in love with this series because of passion that is burning inside of these three characters. Each person in this series has a story to tell and I definitely feel like this triad’s story has just begun. It started in book 5 but we find out more about Winnie, Chains, (aka Nickolas), and Jackson and how their love for one another happened. I honestly can’t wait for the next book. This book literally had me on pins and needles during parts that I felt so much pain for all them. If you ever doubted that this series can’t grasp you, you definitely need to reread it. I feel like I need more from D.M. Earl as well as more of Chains and Nickolas.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I loved every minute of it. This is the first book in the First Coast Thriller Series and it was amazing. The author’s writing is very unique to them and how they’d portrayed to plot and the characters was phenomenal.
Ex-cop Clayton Conway has made some mistakes.
He’s trying to work hard with a repo company, hooking cars and boats. Raise his daughter and stay friendly with his ex-wife. Make enough money to pay the rent on his tiny apartment over a bar in Jacksonville Beach.
But when one of the Orenato Cartel’s speedboats gets repossessed, they come looking for it.
Putting Clayton, his family and friends, in danger.
I’m excited to see how this author continues this series in the near future.

This book was intense. It picks up where a Tortured Man’s Soul finished and brings you on a whirlwind ride. I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Chains literally went through hell and back. My heart broke for him. He has evolved so much throughout this series. I was happy to see that he got his head out of his behind and realized what’s truly important in life. I enjoyed the introduction of new characters especially Tink and Shadow. I’m hoping to read more about them. I’d love to know more about Shadow’s story. This book was amazing but cannot be read as a stand-alone. You must read this series in order. Readers must be warned that there are lots of triggers and scenes of sexual violence.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping crime thriller, which had me hooked from start to finish. The main character, Clayton Conway is an ex-cop who has made some mistakes and is now working at a repo company. Clayton is concentrating on raising his daughter and keeping friendly with her mother, his ex-wife. He’s renting a small apartment over a bar in Jacksonville Beach, and is happy if he makes enough money to pay his rent. Thinking he had left his dangerous life behind him, along with being a cop, Clayton gets mixed up with the Orenato Cartel, when one of their speedboats is repossessed.
Clayton realises that it’s not just him who’s in danger but also his family and friends, and he’s determined to protect them, as long as his own weaknesses don’t get the better of him, again. Full of drama and suspense this was an entertaining and engaging read, with a great main character in Clayton, who’s both likeable and relatable, whilst also being realistic. I found it hard to put this book down once I had started it and I am now looking forward to the next book in the series.

Clayton is trying to get his life back on track after a gambling addiction cost him his job and family. He wants to repair things with his ex wife and daughter, but it’s going to be a long road to setting things right.
He misses police work, but he’s found some solace in doing repo work for Jimmy, who seems most interested in living his life in Jimmy buffet style. But, Jimmy takes in his crew like family, and Clayton just needs to learn to get out of his own head. When one of his coworkers gets abducted, Clayton joins the crew in finding him and getting to the bottom of what’s really going on.
Meanwhile, his damaged relationships with his womanizing father and elusive sister, who seems to find trouble everywhere she goes, throws a more personal wrench into Clayton’s problems.
Explosive action, an FBI investigation, and Jimmy’s knack for getting under a local cop’s skin make for page-turning excitement, laughter, and adventure. I loved the characters in this book, their varying quirks and personalities, and truly enjoyed the story line. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

The main plot has twists and turns that have you questioning as you think you know who did it. Clayton is a protagonist just trying to figure out the right thing to do for his daughter. Everywhere he turns are antagonists. This is an excellent story with the suspense, a shot at romance, thriller, and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan Series Book 1) by Debra Webb – Review by Colleen Noyes

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan #1)The Last Lie Told by Debra Webb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy YES PLEASE! I got this book early as part of the Kindle first program. It is set in Nashville, Tennessee one of my favorite places. Right from the beginning you can sense the mystery, suspense, and secrets. This book had me hooked from page one and never let go. The character of Finley is a very complex character that I appreciate tremendously. There are so many facets to her you’re not sure what is what or who she really is until you dive deeper into the story.

This story has many layers of suspense not just on the case Finley and Jack are working, but with Finley, her past, and her husband. The intrigue as you turn each page grows and you find yourself on the edge of your seat unable to stop turning pages.

The last chapter of this book was so amazing with more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. I cannot wait to see what happens or what is discovered regarding Finley and Derrick. This was my first book by Debra Webb and now I must go buy more!

Triad Resumption, Part Two (Grimm Wolves MC #6)Triad Resumption, Part Two by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is part 2 in the series and after all the trauma and heartbreak from the first one I was dying to get this one to see how the story ends. These books can’t be read as a standalone. You really need to read all the books in order to get the full feel of all the characters and their stories. This book is very emotionally charges and has some elements with maybe a trigger for people. The author handles all these situation in a way that is respectful but eye-opening at the same time. My heart broke for Chains for all he went through and continues to go through but the love that Jackson and Winnie have for him is so strong and you feel that through this story.

Chains has been rescued but he is in a really bad way. After all the abuse and trauma he suffered at the hands of his abductors he needs to do a lot of healing both physically and mentally.
Things start to look up for him. He decides to embrace his romance and love for both Jackson and Winnie, his brothers are accepting of it as well which makes him happy. However as good as things are Chains can’t let go and be happy until he knows who wanted to torture him to death and why?
Now with the help of his MC brothers and Winnie and Jackson, Chains now needs to face his demons as his past comes back to haunt him and he’s not prepared to allow anyone he loves to get hurt.
This story is very brutal to read in parts but you really get the full sense of the MC brotherhood as they all band together to protect their own. I loved this story so much I can’t wait to see who’s story we will hear next
